Reaper of Rome chapter 20 -aid for the captains
This chapter will show how much the captains can help in the battles against the espada.
The episodes covered will be 196 [back half]- 203 [first part]
I will make so minor changes to at least one of the battles and add extra dialogue for some scenes
Ichigo pov
the next thing the large soul reaper did was to toss me over towards Orihime and say to my friend "heal him up there will be more battles to come for him." It was then he revealed the gate Urahara made was meant to aid in the war effort, but Orihime got caught first. He also told me to stay out of the fight as I took time to take an ambrosia candy and tell Orihime to start healing me up. as the battle started.
Chad pov
I was met by the pair of captain and lieutenant as they managed to talk away the pack of hollows looming over me. the older of the two looked me over and asked, "who did this healing on you?" I replied "my mother, I think her name was Bellona the roman goddess of war. have you ever got to meet her?" the captain soul reaper said "I haven't really got to meet any of the roman exclusive gods. I had a drink with Artemis a few months ago and she talked about her two sons and that's the last time I met any. But I may have to stop by New Rome sometime."
At the same time, I was being healed, I could tell Rukia's brother was in a fight against another espada, close to where she had passed out. but under Orihime's healing bubble I couldn't tell much more. but at the same time, I could tell the captain and espada were about to get more serious as I told Orihime we should move soon. but I could tell Kenpachi was Cleary happy with this battle but not ready to remove his handicap yet.
Uryu pov
As the clownish captain showed before me, the winged arrancar asked if he knew me. But I just learned he didn't really care about me at this point and even forgot I existed. It was after that Nel's two friends popped up and I just told them to come over to me and stay out of this fight. It was after that, the clownish captain talked about putting his espada enemy into a jar. That just made Szayelaporro laugh as the two hollows didn't get the joke.
It wasn't long after that, the pink haired arrancar grabbed the clownish captain and made a doll of him. I kind of hoped the arrancar would hurt him a little bit, but I soon learned Mayuri was playing as he revealed the doll didn't work on him. He soon revealed that in our battle a few months ago he left bacteria to spy on everything that happened to me. I then ranted only to be ignored by the clownish captain. But soon after the captain released his bankai to devour the pink haired arrancar.
But the arrancar seemed to revive using Nemu but the arrancar soon learned that Nemu's body was a bad host to revive in as her body was loaded with drugs that overloaded his system and made him an easy target to kill.
It was after the battle a phone rung within the mad scientist's robes and said to the phone as he picked it up "yes, I will save all the data in the lab and share it with you as promised." Renji then said "that had to be Urahara on the other end."
Rukia pov
I woke up to see my brother clashing with a dark skinned arrancar and I wasn't sure if my brother was playing with the man or not. But he was able to catch up to my brother in terms of speed. The battle soon started to get freaky as the arrancar released his blade and his body warped into a being with many eyes. He soon revealed his eyes can take control of things. The first thing being my brother's leg.
He then aimed for my mostly disabled body and then Hanataro came into the chamber as my brother clearly had no time for him and told him to stay back. the next move the man made was to go after my brother's arm but he quickly took that out of action as well and fired a hado near me. as the man commented on the on him and soon hit me with the eye but as he did, the hollow took over and said I can help stop those eyes you just need a mask. I soon broke out of control and used to stay out of the eye's range with Hanataro in tow. As I did my brother released his bankai and seemingly killed the arrancar with the many blades.
But after that he still lived, and I used my new Kido to engulf the arrancar in a sun bright enough he couldn't control burning him to ashes. My brother wasn't completely happy I did that but happy with my growth. It was after that the healer performed aid on my brother and I.
Ichigo pov
The next moves the pair made included staring at each other as I waited to be healed. Kenpachi started to overwhelm the already damaged body of the eye patched arrancar. as the two exchanged attacks. After I was able to move a little more, I had Orihime heal Nel in hopes she would be able to restore Nel to the adult form just in case.
The battle between captain and arrancar was mostly just a clash between swords without Kenpachi feeling to release any 0f his wasn't that much longer that the battle seemed to turn as the one eyed arrancar got a good attack on Kenpachi's shoulder and then revealed he has extra hard skin and from that comment I saw the pink haired Lieutenant smirk.
It was then the arrancar tried to make a windstorm with his blade, but Kenpachi was able to catch it and face slam his enemy. that revealed to the captain the arrancar could be cut. The large soul reaper captain then tried to stab through the eye patch only to get himself hurt and learn the patch hid a hollow hole. The espada then declared Kenpachi could never win but to that the man just smirked in challenge and I knew he was having fun.
I knew from my fight with Kenpachi he would take that as a challenge, and it wasn't much longer that Kenpachi proved the espada wrong and dealt a cut to his arm. That attack seemed to make the one eyed espada even more angry and in the next exchange the captain got his enemy in the face and slashed his blade. I could tell Kenpachi's zanpakuto spirit was starting to wake up as the battle got more intense and the espada was getting more desperate until he made the fatal move of cutting off the captain's eyepatch.
The intense spirit power coming from him was nearly choking and Kenpachi clearly didn't want his eyepatch off at this moment. I could tell from all the blood lost the arrancar wasn't ready for the fight to increase levels. but it wasn't much longer that the espada released his own blade and grew extra arms and had a sword in each. Kenpachi seemed happy to fight this guy at a new level. in the first exchange of the new form Kenpachi seemed to lose and the arrancar was about to go after the small pink haired girl but that just made Kenpachi get up and get mad. Kenpachi then revealed while he was down, he planned a way to counter the espada by slicing off arms. But said espada revealed he could regrow them to deal another painful blow.
It wasn't long that the arrancar grew another set of arms and started to challenge Kenpachi but in response the captain revealed he had learned Kendo stances and used those to deal a lethal blow to the espada and kill him once and for all. It was soon the espada screamed out in failure as he faded into dust.
It was after the battle was done, the captain broke shield and threw me to my zanpakuto and told me to leave with Orihime. But before we could leave, another arrancar took Orihime away after leaving us with the words "I need to barrow her for a bit."
Orihime pov
I was brought before Aizen, brought his face close to me and said told me to wait until he finished destroying my hometown to make a key to the soul king realm. Then he used a hado to broadcast message to all the soul reapers that they were planning to invade soon and then he gave them my location and that his capture of me was a ruse to draw the soul reaper forces away from Kurakara and lock the captains and Ichigo inside the world of the hollows.
Ichigo pov
As I heard the message and was about to run off, Kenpachi assured me Aizen would be met with the rest of the soul reaper captains and Urahara was likely preparing more gates back to the world of the living very soon. He also assured us the battlefield wasn't in the real version of the town and it was moved to the soul society for safety. after that I got a message on my soul phone saying "I have had to use your friends to help but everything is set up."
Chapter end
The next chapter will have a different group of heroes prepare to save their city and but first have to learn where the battles began.
Before that Shirou will have to deal with the horrors of the holy grail war and the changes that come with it
