Ultraman Gallant
Chapter 10: The Start of a Wild Melody
42,500 Years Ago
He sat on the edge of the platform that incoming scouts usually landed on. Various other members of the defense force had passed by him, each one questioning why a child was at the headquarters. Every time he'd laugh innocently and tell them he was waiting for his parents to come back.
They'd been gone for almost a year and he'd missed them terribly, but they were needed for the scouting mission they'd been sent on, Father of Ultra himself had sent them. He'd been waiting for hours and as he sat there, humming quietly to himself he heard loud footsteps behind him, turning around to see who was approaching him. He jumped up quickly and saluted the large visitor, "Father of Ultra! Hello sir!"
The Father of Ultra nodded at him, "Hello young one, what are you doing out here?" The boy pointed towards the sky, "Waiting for my parents to come back, this is the day they were supposed to return." Father of Ultra sighed, this was never easy, "I came to find you because I needed to inform you of something." The boy looked up at him in confusion, he was only 2,500 years old, he couldn't hear the pain in his voice, "You were looking for me?"
Father of Ultra nodded and knelt down, putting a hand on the boy's shoulder, "I'm afraid there's been an incident, your parents are coming back." The boy looked at him, struggling to understand what he meant, "What do you mean? Did you send them out on another mission?" He shook his head, "No, I'm afraid one of the planets I sent them to scout, the species there became fearful of them and from that fear attacked them. Unfortunately we didn't make it in time to save them and they didn't survive."
He let out a sniff, feeling himself about to cry, "But why? They weren't doing anything wrong. Why were they attacked by the people of the planet?" Father of Ultra went silent for a moment, before finally speaking, "I don't really have an answer, sometimes these tragedies happen in life. I'm sorry Ranbu, I truly am."
Ranbu fell to his knees, sadness overwhelming him as he screamed, Father of Ultra trying his best to comfort him. Ranbu punched the ground, "It's not fair, why does life have to be so unfair." The Father of Ultra said nothing, he had no answer for the boy as he continued to scream in sadness.

Earth(Present Day)
He leaned against the wall, his best friend standing across from him as they stood in an alleyway, the two discussing recent events, "So those Mortem Ad Giant Lucem creeps are done for then?" Takato nodded slowly, "Captain Kakuhiro pretty much pulled every JSDF resource he could to make sure there were no remnants, turns out they crossed the line kidnapping one of his subordinates."
He smiled slightly, "Well it's good to know that humanity has Captain Kakuhiro then." Takato frowned, "Daisuke, I know things got intense but are you really going to be angry at all of humanity for a small group's actions?" Daisuke crossed his arms, "I always used to believe that with all the stories from other Ultras about earth that humanity just had this overwhelming goodness to them. But now I'm not sure and after seeing them try and kill my best friend I'm just a little bit unsure."
Takato let out a small sigh, "Daisuke there's always going to be some bad eggs, humanity isn't immune to that." Daisuke frowned, "It wasn't just those guys though Takato, there's bad stuff happening around the world, should I write those humans off as bad eggs too?"
Takato crossed his arms, "The good always outweighs the bad Daisuke, besides it's not like there haven't been evil members of our own species, but we continue to be a force for good. We need to focus on protecting humanity's future." Daisuke scowled, "I want to protect the universe's future, not just humanity's." Takato was about to open his mouth but his communicator began to go off, "This is Shinkishi."
He paused as he heard heavy breathing on the other end before Tsubasa's voice came through, "Hey Taka we need you back at base, Captain will explain when you get here." Takato nodded, "Right I'll be right there. Daisuke we'll talk later alright?" Daisuke gave him a small nod as Takato said goodbye to him, the two walking opposite directions, neither aware that they were being watched.

JSDF Headquarters
Takato walked into the command center, looking around before suddenly being bumped into by Asuna, "Sorry Takato." Takato looked around to see his teammates running around the command center, Asuna running around with a broom in hand, Tsubasa cleaning the computers and Reika balancing on several chairs piled up together, cleaning the walls.
Takato turned to see Captain Kakuhiro standing with his arms crossed, a frown on his face, "Asuna there's dust in the corner take care of it, Tsubasa I thought I told you the computers were fine and to go finish cleaning the Firehawk, and Reika make sure you try to dust the ceiling as well." Takato raised an eyebrow, "The captain is actually being bossy? What's going on?"
Captain Kakuhiro turned towards him, a smile beaming on his face, "Takato there you are! To answer your question, the higher ups are finally allowing my wife and niece to visit the command center to see what my job is like. I've been trying to convince them for years since they're strict on civilians coming here but after so many years I finally wore them down." Takato nodded slowly, "Well that explains the cleaning, how can I help?"
Captain Kakuhiro approached him, clapping him on the back, "I'm glad you asked, you're going to help me with a very special task in another room. Make sure to finish cleaning and Takato and I will be right back." Asuna and Reika nodded, Tsubasa having already run out of the room. Takato nodded as he made a face, "Ow, you got it Captain." He followed the captain out of the room, eager to help his captain make sure that things went smoothly for his family's visit.

Unknown Location
He let out a small sigh, crossing his eyes as he watched the surveillance he had on his two enemies. Ranbu wasn't exactly sure how he wanted to proceed, he wasn't exactly expecting the issue with Mortem Ad Giant Lucem to arise and though it worked out in his favor, they'd caused him to lose the unknown grip he had on his enemies actions.
Not to mention Vee seemed to be seeing the evil of humanity quicker than Gallant was. He could unleash his final plan, but no, he still wanted to know more about who Gallant was. Perhaps for his game to continue to focus on breaking the two, it's not like they could stand up to him, he still had time to play with them.
Ranbu curled his hand into a fist, perhaps it was time to finally have a true face to face chat with the two do gooders, to help them understand why he believed in what he believed.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
JSDF Headquarters
The two walked into the storage room, Takato looking around, "So what's this special task that you wanted me to do personally?" Captain Kakuhiro chuckled, "Oh that, I just needed you to help me move some boxes of supplies, Tsubasa usually does it but he's cleaning the Firehawk. The others complained about having to clean so I thought if I made the task sound important then you wouldn't complain."
Takato looked at him dumbfounded, "Captain, I would've been happy to help you regardless of it being important or not." Captain Kakuhiro laughed as the two began to move the boxes, "This is why I like you, you're always happy to help no matter how small the task is." The two moved boxes silently for a bit until Kakuhiro spoke up, "So it's been a few months since you've joined us, how are you settling here in Tokyo?"
Takato scratched his cheek, "Uhh I guess ok, I'm still learning a few things. I'm mostly used to Tokyo by now." Captain Kakuhiro smiled and nodded, "That's good, you know you remind me of myself at your age. I was from a small village and had a desire to save the world, just like you."
Takato nodded, his eyes beaming with curiosity, "You too? How did you adapt so well?" The Captain laughed as he placed another box down, "My teammates really helped me learn quickly, especially Reika's father, he was like an older brother taking me under his wing, even helped me meet my wife." Takato smiled, "How did you two meet exactly? You never really talk about yourself much."
Captain Kakuhiro put down another box, "It was one late night after a battle between a Kaiju and Ultraman, Reika's father approached me after I'd arrived late to the battle, told me there was a woman too afraid to go home by herself because of the battle. He assigned me to escort her home, we talked all night even after she arrived home and a little less than a year later we were married."
Takato nodded intensely, "That sounds pretty romantic." Kakuhiro wiped the dust off his glasses, nodding thoughtfully, "She doesn't like to admit it but I have my romantic side. Have you thought about settling down? Tsubasa told me that the woman who visited was your partner." Takato let out a small nervous chuckle, "I don't think Akemi is the settling down and getting married type. Captain, can you tell me, how much do you know about the Ultraman who appeared before the current two?"
Kakuhiro crossed his arms, thinking for a moment, "There's not much we knew about him, not even an additional name besides Ultraman. I will admit he was different from Gallant and the blue one, if I had to guess maybe older. Still wherever he is, he probably won't show up on Earth ever again."
Takato frowned, that wasn't much to go on, the only new information is that the Ultra was probably older than him and Vee. Captain Kakuhiro placed down one final box and dusted his hands, "Well that takes care of that, go back to the command center, I'm going to meet my wife and Yuki and the entrance of headquarters." Takato nodded as the two exited storage, Takato still thinking about what the captain said about the Ultra who'd appeared, who was he? It didn't matter much anyway, the captain was probably right, he'd never show up again.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
They all saluted as Captain Kakuhiro entered the command center, Yuki and another woman following him. Yuki giggled at seeing them all being so serious before she waved at them, "Hi guys, it's nice to see you again, it's been a few weeks." There was a sigh of relief as Takato crossed his arms, "Daisuke is still behaving right? If he's not, just let me know and I'll straighten him out."
Yuki nodded as the other woman ran past them, looking at everything around the room as Captain Kakuhiro tried to stop her, "Kyoko please don't touch anything too important." She turned towards him and rubbed the back of her head, "I'm sorry Mitsuo, I'm just so excited." She turned towards the team and smiled, "I've always wanted to see my husband at work, this is so exciting." Shockingly it was Reika who first spoke up, "Well we're so happy to have you here Miss Kyoko."
Takato looked at Reika actually smiling and whispered to Tsubasa, "Reika is smiling, should we be worried?" Tsubasa snickered, "No, the Captain and Reika are close so she's close with his wife too." Kyoko Kakuhiro turned towards the remaining three and giggled, "I suppose I should introduce myself, I'm Kyoko your captain's wife, I work as a nurse so I'm usually busy with my own work myself. Now let's see, you're Asuna, the resident genius around here."
Asuna nodded but scratched her cheek, "I wouldn't call myself a genius." Kyoko waved her off, "Nonsense, Mitsuo tells me all about you and your inventions to help the JSDF. And you must be Tsubasa, the resident flying ace of the squad." Tsubasa winked at her, "You'd be correct, unlike Asuna I will accept your praise." She giggled at his comment before turning towards Takato, "And you must be the new recruit, Takato I believe. My husband talks about you all the time since you joined, according to him you're just as strange as he was when I first met him."
Takato let out a nervous laugh, "I don't know if I'd call myself strange." Kyoko grabbed him by the hands and smiled at him, "Oh don't get so awkward, you can tell by my husband I like strange." Takato let out a more genuine laugh, "Then yes, I'd call myself a bit strange." Captain Kakuhiro appeared behind him, "Well I'm glad to see that she likes you, now how about we show you around."
Kyoko nodded, the group going on a tour. As they arrived in the hangar where the Firehawk sat, Yuki stopped Takato from following them. She turned towards him, a frown on her face, "Hey Takato I have a question." Takato nodded slowly, "Uh sure, I'll answer it the best I can." She let out a small sigh, "Has Daisuke seemed a bit down to you recently? He's been acting not his happy go lucky self the past week or so."
Takato frowned, he couldn't be fully honest with her, "I think just with me being kidnapped and injured he was just blaming himself, he's Daisuke like that, he'll be back to normal soon." Yuki nodded, "Right, I'm glad he has you as a best friend, you wouldn't let him feel sad for long." Takato nodded in agreement as they caught up with the rest of the group.
As they arrived back in headquarters, Takato had gotten to talking to Kyoko, "So have you and the Captain ever thought about having kids? You two would be great parents." Hearing this, Captain Kakuhiro cleared his throat, "We considered it but since we're both so busy with work, and I'm unfortunately unable to have children, we haven't had any."
She nodded in agreement, "Besides Yuki is like our daughter so we haven't missed out on parenting." Takato nodded, feeling bad about asking the question before an alarm went off, Captain Kakuhiro turning towards the screen as Asuna ran to her computer, "Asuna give me a status report quickly, I want to know what alarm that is."
Kyoko clapped her hands as she turned to Yuki, "Finally we get to see your uncle in action." Reika frowned, "Miss Kyoko this might not be a good alarm." Asuna typed at her computer as she pulled up a map of the city, "It's nothing major, one of the sensors in the city was tripped by something alien, I'm not seeing anything so it might be a malfunction, but we should send someone to take a look just to be sure."
Feeling a way to get away from the awkwardness, Takato quickly raised his hand, "I'll go!" Captain Kakuhiro turned towards him, "Takato are you sure?" Takato nodded firmly, "I don't want the tour to be ruined over a malfunction, I'll go." Before anyone could argue he ran out of the room, really hoping that it was just a sensor malfunction.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
It didn't take him long to arrive where the sensor was, looking around and finding nothing out of the ordinary. He took out his communicator and called Asuna, "It must've been a malfunction since nothing is here." Asuna let out a sigh of relief, "Right that's good, hurry back then."
Takato frowned, "Yeah after that awkwardness from my question I think I'll give it a bit before I come back." He heard her giggle, "That's fair, I'll tell the captain that you ran into Daisuke and we'll see you later." He thanked her for covering for him as he hung up, preparing to leave the area before someone grabbed his shoulder.
He spun around to come face to face with Daisuke, the two of them looking at each other in confusion, "Daisuke what are you doing here? Besides now helping with my cover story." Daisuke frowned, "I heard a voice crying for help and ran over here. Did you hear anyone?" Takato raised an eyebrow, "I didn't hear anything, one of our sensors got tripped in this area. Oh no I really hope this isn't…."
A small circle appeared in front of the two, engulfing them and landing them in what seemed to be a simple cell. The two standing up as Takato frowned, "A trap, it was a trap, I really need to stop falling for these." Daisuke grabbed onto the bars of the cell, being unable to break them, "But who wanted to trap us?" The two heard a fit of maniacal laughter, Takato sighing, "Ranbu, Ranbu wanted to trap us."
The two turned to see Ranbu standing there, giving them a small wave, "Greetings Gallant and Vee, I trust you're enjoying your temporary living space." Daisuke glared at him, "What the hell do you want, Ranbu?" Ranbu chuckled, "Not to fight for one thing, we both know I'd win. No, you two are here so I could enlighten you." Takato raised an eyebrow, "Enlighten us?"
Ranbu nodded, "I believe it's time you two weaklings learn why Ultraman King imprisoned me." The two couldn't do much as the evil Ultra began to speak, flashing back to thousands of years ago, before the two were even alive.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
41,000 Years Ago
He blocked a kick delivered by his fellow trainee, swiftly punching him in the stomach and grabbing him by the arm, sending him flying out of the arena. He'd finally become old enough to join the defense force, but he wouldn't just be a scout like his parents, no, he'd make them proud by defending the universe.
Several of the other trainees looked at him, each hesitant to enter the ring, he knew he was the strongest, they knew it too. He looked at them, letting out a scream, "Who's next? Come on, I can take you all on!" His instructors claimed he had anger issues, he just preferred to think he was passionate. The other trainees began to charge, Ranbu easily fending them off.
Unknown to him though two figures watched over the training, Father of Ultra and a rather regal visitor, "It's not often that you visit the training grounds, considering taking up another pupil?" Ultraman King nodded, his hands behind his back as he watched the training session unfold, "The universe has been relatively peaceful, I felt it was time to take on a new student. Tell me that blue one, who is he?"
Father of Ultra looked over the training arena, the other trainees defeated and Ranbu standing victorious, "That's Ranbu, one of the new recruits, he's rather strong for a member of the blue tribe." King nodded slowly, "What's his story? He fights like he has something to prove."
Father of Ultra sighed, "His parents were scouts who died on a mission, since then he's made it his goal to become strong enough to never let anyone he loves die again. He's skilled but impulsive and headstrong, and his instructors speak of his anger issues that he claims he doesn't have."
King stroked his beard, "That anger if turned towards the right thing could very well fuel him to ensure peace is maintained in the universe." Ranbu let out a heavy breath, feeling satisfied in his victory, that is until he sensed someone approaching him, narrowly avoiding a punch from a silver and red Ultra. Ranbu hadn't seen him before, but he had no issues beating down another trainee.
He charged the new trainee, readying a punch but the trainee seemed to move just out of the way, grabbing Ranbu by the wrist and twisting him around, sweeping his legs and sending him to the ground. From where they were watching, Father of Ultra crossed his arms, "That trainee is our newest prodigy besides Ranbu, Paladin. Personally I'd recommend taking him on as your pupil."
King focused on the training arena, "I'm not sure, I want to see how Ranbu reacts to being so easily defeated." Paladin offered his hand to Ranbu, Ranbu smacking it away as he angrily got up, "How did you do that? No one has ever defeated me that easily."
Paladin let out a chuckle, "Oh sorry man, I just saw you put all your strength into that punch and saw you were off balance so I used that to knock you off your feet." Ranbu cocked his head to the side, "Off balance? You used my own momentum against me. That is rather smart, teach me how you did that."
Paladin let out a small chuckle, noticing that Ranbu wasn't as angry with him anymore, "Yeah sure man no problem, I'm Paladin, I'm a bit new to the defense force." Ranbu let out a small laugh, "Ranbu, now please, explain to me what you did." Father of Ultra and Ultraman King watched Paladin begin to explain to Ranbu about how he used his momentum against, King crossing his arms, "I will be taking on both of them as my pupils."
Father of Ultra looked at him, "Are you sure?" King nodded, "They will bring out the best in each other, and if trained right become a force to be reckoned with." King approached the training arena, the two trainees looking over at him, Ranbu looking at him in awe, "You're Ultraman King, I thought you were a myth."
King chuckled, "I can assure you young Ranbu I am very much real." Paladin looked at him confused, "But what are you doing here? I thought you only showed up when things got serious." King nodded slowly, "Usually, but I've decided to take on some new trainees as my pupils, after watching you two spar I've decided it will be you two." Ranbu nodded eagerly, "I accept, please sir, show me how to be as strong as you."
King turned towards Paladin, "And what of you young Paladin, do you accept?" Paladin crossed his arms, "I'm not sure what you might see in me, but if my new buddy Ranbu is in then so am I." King chuckled, "Very well then, follow me to my planet then, your training begins immediately." The two nodded as he whisked them away to his planet, both eager to begin their new destiny as the pupils of Ultraman King.

40,000 Years Ago
The earth rumbled as the two exchanged blow after blow, the two having progressed greatly under the tutelage under Ultraman King. Ranbu and Paladin had trained with him for 1,000 years and they'd become strong.
As they spared, the two moved fast enough that most ordinary Ultra's wouldn't be able to see their movements, the two exchanged several punches, Paladin blocking a powerful hook from Ranbu before delivering a roundhouse kick to his chest, causing him to fall down.
Paladin stood there for a moment, heavily breathing as Ranbu lay on the ground, unmoving as Paladin hoped he hadn't hit his friend too hard. Suddenly Ranbu began to laugh as Paladin looked down at him, the blue Ultra chuckling, "That was too much fun, that kick really got me in the end."
Paladin shook his head and sighed, "I'm so glad you had fun getting kicked in the color timer, I thought I might've finally knocked you out cold." Ranbu chuckled again, still laying on the ground, "You aren't that much stronger than me Paladin." Paladin began to laugh along with him, after spending so long together the two had become best friends, their sparring matches being friendly bouts of self improvement.
Although Paladin won most times, Ranbu continued to train as hard as ever, wanting to become as strong as his friend. Paladin extended a hand towards him, "Well time to get up, I'm pretty sure the old man wanted to see us after morning training." Ranbu took his hand, his friend helping him up swiftly, "You beat me again Paladin, one of these days I'll beat you in a match."
Paladin put an arm around his friend and shook his head, "You'd beat me if you didn't have such a temper in battle." Ranbu pushed him away and let out a small laugh, "I don't have a temper in battle, I just get lost in the heat of the moment." Paladin shook his head, "I'm pretty sure I've heard you whisper I'll kill you when fighting me but sure you don't have a temper."
The two laughed together as they finally arrived, Ultraman King waiting for them, along with a person they didn't recognize. The new arrival had purple markings on their body, with mostly silver running up their chest and arms, several gold bands adorned their body, and a hair-like piece on their head resembling a ponytail. The two nodded at their master as he crossed his arms, "Paladin, Ranbu, this is Melody, my youngest daughter. She'll be joining you two in training as she wishes to join the defense force one day."
She bowed at them, "It's lovely to meet you both, Father has mentioned you multiple times." Paladin looked at him in confusion, "You have kids? I didn't even know you were married." King chuckled at his comment, "I prefer to keep my private life a secret my boy, I suggest you do so as well one day."
Ranbu pushed past Paladin and approached Melody, "Ignore him, he's an idiot. It's wonderful to meet you, would you like to join us for some sparring?" Melody nodded slowly, "Of course, I might not be very skilled though." Ranbu crossed his arms, "It's alright we'll go easy on you." Paladin laughed as he came up behind Ranbu, clapping him on the back, 'Boy you're being so nice to her, does someone have a crush?"
Ranbu elbowed him in the stomach, "Don't be a fool, I'm just happy there's someone here who I can have an intellectual conversation with." Paladin let out a wheeze as he stepped back, "Hey we have intellectual conversations." Ranbu sighed and shook his head, "You asked me last week if I think asteroids get sad, you're the bottom of the barrel for intelligence."
Watching them, Melody began to giggle, "You two bicker like siblings, it's pretty funny to watch." The two looked at her quickly, "WE DO NOT!" Melody giggled again as Ultraman King watched Melody getting pulled into their bickering, clearly he'd made the correct decision in bringing her here.

Present Day
He finished talking for a moment, Daisuke yawning as he glared at Ranbu, "Man, is your plan to bore us to death? Because I fail to see what's the point of this story unless you just want us bored." Ranbu snarled at him, approaching the bars of the cell, "I am telling you this because it's important, it's called backstory you ignoramus."
Daisuke scoffed, "We all know your story, you wanted power and went crazy getting it, and in the end Ultraman Paladin stopped you even if it did cost him his life. Then the Royal Knights were formed in his memory, I'm pretty sure that's the whole backstory." Ranbu turned away from the cell, letting out a small scoff, "You whittle it down to the bare minimum, that fool King never told you how close Paladin and I were, how we were as close of friends as you and Gallant who's being quiet in the corner."
Takato frowned, "I'm being quiet because there's no point in wasting my breath, we'll escape once the JSDF starts to wonder where I am." Ranbu let out a chuckle as he turned towards a TV screen, "Yes the JSDF rescuing you, unfortunately for you I thought of that already."
The TV screen flashed on as a monster appeared on the screen, destroying the city, "Gomess will be making sure they're too distracted to help you." Seeing this Takato glared at him, "Ranbu if anything happens to them or the city then I will end you." Ranbu simply chuckled, "Now back to my story." The two struggled against the bars, unable to do anything as the city was being destroyed and Ranbu was going to continue his story.

JSDF Headquarters
The building shook as the JSDF ran into the headquarters, Captain Kakuhiro looking over to Asuna, "Asuna get a visual, I want to know what's causing all of this." Asuna nodded, quickly typing on the keyboard and pulling up the feed of the kaiju attacking, "Looks like we have a large sized Kaiju attacking, it seems to be targeting the powerplant that powers the whole city."
Kakuhiro frowned, "Tsubasa, head out in the Firehawk, if the power plant is taken down then we won't be able to deploy it until the power comes back." Tsubasa nodded as he ran out of the room, Kyoko and Yuki watching on, "Oh I didn't think we'd get to see your uncle in action, this is so exciting."
Yuki put a hand on her wrist, "Let's just try to not get in the way, ok Auntie?" Kyoko nodded as Kakuhiro turned towards them, trying to give them a reassuring smile, "Just don't leave this room and you'll be safe." Reika crossed her arms, "Captain, this thing seems almost smart, what do we do?"
Kakuhiro frowned, "As long as we can get the Firehawk deployed then we should be…." Everything shutting off quickly, as they even lost the feed of the Kaiju attacking. Kakuhiro pinched the bridge of his nose, "Asuna please tell me Tsubasa got out before we lost power." Before Asuna could even respond the door opened, Tsubasa ran back into the room, "Captain I couldn't leave in time, the backup generators only have enough power to keep the lights on."
Captain Kakuhiro let out a sigh, "Dammit, go down to the power room, you and Asuna try to divert the power to the hanger." The two nodded as they left the room, Reika looking over at him, "Captain what are we doing? We can't stand around while this thing is attacking the city."
Kakuhiro grit his teeth, they were practically useless without full power in the base, and he didn't want to rush out and result in anyone getting hurt. Clenching his fist he let out a sigh, "For now we have to sit here until we can deploy the Firehawk, there's no other options." Reika frowned, "Captain are you sure?"
He nodded reluctantly, "If we run out there then someone could get hurt, for now we can only hope that Asuna and Tsubasa can restore the power, or better yet one of the Ultramen show up." Reika raised an eyebrow, "Do we really want to rely on Ultraman showing up?"
Captain Kakuhiro frowned and adjusted his glasses, "Right now Reika we have no other choices." He looked down at his desk, the drawer he usually kept locked weighing heavily on his mind. He shook his head, he wouldn't resort to that, he swore never again would he do that. He would hope for a miracle, because without a miracle the city was doomed.

38,000 Years Ago
He slammed his fist into the wall, watching the scene in front of him, of Ultraman King instructing Paladin on several techniques he claimed would make him even stronger. He'd been told they weren't training today, but yet here they were. He used to think his master didn't have a favorite student, that King respected his desire to get stronger to protect those he cared about, but apparently not.
He punched the wall again, letting out a low growl, "Why doesn't he respect me? Why am I not treated like Paladin?" He felt a hand on his shoulder, "He does respect you, he just knows that at this point in your training that you and Paladin need to focus on different paths of strength."
Ranbu turned around to see Melody standing behind him, the two had grown close since she'd joined them on the planet, and she was regularly assuring him he was going on the right path. He shook his head, "You say that but yet he lied to me about training today, Paladin has become his favorite student while I'm left in the dust. Paladin is my best friend, I shouldn't be jealous of him."
Melody looked at the scene unfolding and shook her head, "My Father doesn't have a favorite student, you know how he is, he's not the best at communicating so he probably thought lying was acceptable in this case."
Ranbu took a step back, not wanting to see the two training anymore, "He's always held back with me, I know I have a temper and it's hard to control my emotions, but I just want the strength to protect those that matter to me, Paladin, your Father, the land of light, you especially. But yet he doesn't believe in me, I just want him to believe that I can be as great as Paladin."
Melody grabbed his hand, interlocking it with hers as she put another hand on his face, "I believe in you, you aren't angry Ranbu, you're passionate and there's nothing wrong with that. Paladin believes in you too, you're still his best friend too." Ranbu tried to pull away but found himself unable to, "You don't mean that, you can't."
Melody began to lovingly caress his face, "But yet I do, Ranbu if I didn't see in you what you fail to see then I wouldn't have fallen in love with you." Ranbu tried to pull away in confusion, but found himself bending down to meet her, "Melody I… me too." His forehead met hers, the two simply staying in that embrace, his anger subsiding as a happiness built up inside. As long as she was with him, then he'd be strong, the strongest there was.

35,000 Years Ago
He launched a kick at his friend, Paladin being caught off guard and actually getting hit in the chest. Seeing his opportunity, Ranbu swung at him several times, hitting him with a combo of punches before finally landing another kick on him. Sending Paladin to the ground as Ranbu exhaled, breathing heavily, "I win Paladin."
Laying on the ground, Paladin began to laugh joyously, "Yes you did, it took you thousands of years but you finally beat me." Ranbu offered him a hand, helping him up, "You're taking this far better than I thought you would." Paladin chuckled again, "You've gotten so strong Ranbu, Master had mentioned once you had limitless potential but I'm starting to see what he meant."
Ranbu let out a small laugh, "I'm only so strong because I've had a good rival to push me to overcome my limits. If you asked me a thousand years ago I wouldn't have thought I could get any stronger, with Master focusing on training you more, but I just used that as motivation."
Paladin sighed and put a hand on his shoulder, "Master only focused on training me more because he knew I needed it. I've always been jealous of your strength, you know, continuously getting stronger just through sheer determination." Ranbu nodded slowly, "My determination is not wanting to lose those that are close to me, I keep having the same fears after these 3,000 years, that I'll lose Melody like I lost my parents."
Paladin put a hand on his shoulder, "You can't let those kinds of thoughts consume you. Besides the universe would never do something like that to you, afterall life and love is so beautiful it could never come between you two." Ranbu looked at him and began to chuckle, "Life and love are beautiful? Paladin, your naiveness is hilarious sometimes, honestly are we sure you're not still a child?"
Paladin looked at his friend, "Oh come on, I thought I was giving really good advice there." Paladin began to join him in laughing, the two laughing together until another voice appeared behind them, "And what's so funny that it sounds like you two are dying?" Ranbu stopped laughing and turned around to see Melody approaching them, "Paladin was just offering me some rather childlike advice." Melody looked at him, grabbing his hand and entwining it with her own, "Oh come now Ranbu, sometimes the best kind of advice is on the naive side."
Paladin nodded, "Exactly, see this is why Melody is my favorite person." Ranbu shook his head in disappointment, "Honestly this is why I fear whenever you two are together, she enables you." Melody giggled as she turned towards Paladin, "You know I just encountered your new student, he seems to idolize you already, I told him he was in great hands."
Paladin put his hands behind his head, "Oh well that's good, you know I wasn't sure at first about being an actual teacher but I don't think I'm doing bad so far." Ranbu crossed his arms, "I saw him earlier and warned him that he'll probably have to end up making sure you don't do anything stupid."
Paladin sighed, "Have you ever thought about taking up a student Ranbu? I think you'd have a lot to offer teaching the next generation." Ranbu put a hand on his chin, thinking for a moment, "Hmmm I'll pass, I already have enough on my plate trying to deal with you at times."
Paladin let out a small chuckle, "Well speaking of my student, we're actually heading out on a scouting mission, so we have to get going. Until we meet again my friends." He and Ranbu cross touched, before he turned and began to walk away from them, for some reason he had the strangest feeling that while he was gone something was going to happen. He shook his head and pushed that feeling out of his head, everything would be fine, he was sure of it.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
He flew through space rather quickly, using all of his energy to get to his destination as quickly as possible. It had been a few years since he'd last seen Paladin and now more than ever he wished that his friend was by his side.
Melody had been sent on a scouting mission to a planet by their Master, and she hadn't been in contact for awhile when she was supposed to make contact earlier today. King had told him not to go so quickly but he wasn't going to wait around and let Melody be hurt by a bunch of aliens on a planet he could easily reach.
He arrived at the planet, seeing multiple explosions going off on the surface, it was wartorn. Ultraman King claimed that it was a peaceful planet, but clearly it wasn't as he flew down, using his vision to find Melody. He finally found her, lying motionless outside one of the large cities, whatever had happened caused a crater around her.
He flew down, landing and quickly kneeling by her side, "Melody! Melody what happened here?" She slowly looked up at him, coughing as she spoke softly, "The people here, they were close to a civil war but I tried to make peace between them. They were determined to go through with the fight though, and attacked me when I interfered. They overwhelmed me and I couldn't defend myself anymore."
Ranbu held her tightly, "Dammit, Melody try to save your strength, I'll get you back to your father to heal you." She let out another cough, her color timer slowly beating red like a dying heart, "Ranbu, I love you so much, I wish we could have all of time together. Goodbye my love."
With that the light in her eyes went out along with her color timer, and her hand fell to the ground. The once full of life Ultrawoman now dead because of aliens full of blood lust. He didn't react at first, he just stood there unmoving as his mind flashed back to when he lost his parents as well. The Father of Ultra's words echoed in his head, "Sometimes these tragedies happen in life."
He began to punch the ground, screaming in rage as all the trauma from his parents dying came flooding back to him. Why did this always happen, why did everyone he always loved died? He was constantly told that this was just life, but why was life so cruel?
As darkness began to swirl around him, he finally had a revelation. Life is naturally evil, every being in the universe would always turn to evil and greed when given the chance. The universe that he had long been told had a destiny for everyone had none, everything was just chaos and always would be.
He finally concluded, why fight against the chaos, no he should embrace it and the evil. He would put down these evil races before they could do to anybody else what has happened to him. Even if he had to embrace that evil and chaos himself, he would do what the rest of his people wouldn't. He flew towards the largest city he saw, landing in the center and facing several of the warring sides.
One of them stopped fighting and pointed their weapon at him, "Another one? Leave or we'll kill you like we did the other one." Ranbu began to laugh maniacally, the dark aura around him darkening the blue of his body, "Will you now?" Without hesitation he raised his arms, firing a beam at the factions of aliens, incinerating them where they stood.
He laughed more and more as he began to destroy the city, killing anything or anyone who stood in his way. Once everything on the planet was dead, he flew back into space, gathering all of his energy that he could and firing it at the planet, "GENOCIDE WRECKER!"
The black and blue beam hit the planet, destroying it and leaving it only chunks in space as Ranbu continued to laugh. This power, this darkness felt good, the chaos felt GOOD! He needed to find more planets to put down, he needed to continue unlocking further strength. He flew off into space, intent on bringing more chaos to the universe.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
He landed back on his Master's planet, having destroyed several planets since he had destroyed the first. He'd gained dark armor over his body, his transformation into a dark Ultra rivaled only by Belial was complete. As he looked around to see no one around, he heard a voice call out to him, "You've been busy Ranbu, busy slaughtering innocent lives."
Ranbu turned to see Paladin approaching him, a large sword in his hand, "Paladin, those people were hardly innocent, they gave into their darker impulses, proving that all life falls to evil once it's easier to do so." Paladin shook his head in disappointment, "Is that your justification, Ranbu you destroyed several planets! Just look at you, you don't look like yourself anymore."
Ranbu scoffed at him, "I am more like myself than ever before! The universe is nothing but chaos and I have embraced that, I have decided to eliminate the life that causes that chaos." Paladin shook his head, "Ranbu you need to stop, you're grieving and you can still stop before there's no turning back. This isn't what Melody would want and you know that!"
Ranbu growled at this and took a step forward, "Don't you dare say her name, I am doing the universe a favor by doing this, and once I do then no one will have to die anymore, no more tragedies." Paladin slammed his sword down, "But when does it stop Ranbu? Who will determine that these planets and races are evil? Who will become the judge and jury to your executioner?"
Ranbu laughed maniacally, "We would, we as the superior race of light, will decide who must be put down for the good of the universe." Paladin shook his head, "We aren't gods Ranbu, and I certainly don't see any light within you anymore." Ranbu looked at himself, "I cast most of my light away and embraced darkness to get the power I needed to do what needed to be done." Paladin sighed and readied himself for battle, "Then you are lost Ranbu."
Ranbu put his hand forward, summoning a pure black lance, "I don't want to fight you my friend, but if you aren't with me, then you're my enemy." The two ran at each other, their weapons meeting as a shockwave pushed the two back. They swung at each other multiple times, dark and light clashing as Paladin struggled to not be pushed back.
Ranbu was much stronger now with the power of darkness, Paladin blocked his lance, launching himself off his sword and kicking Ranbu back. The two were breathing heavily as Ranbu growled, "Even now, we're evenly matched." Paladin prepared his sword again as it began to glow with light, "Dammit Ranbu I don't want this."
Ranbu scoffed as his lance was engulfed in darkness, "Even now you hold back against me? YOU BASTARD!" The two prepared their attacks, "ROYALIUM SLASH!" "LIGHTNING DISATRIUM!" Their attacks clashed, causing an explosion that sent them flying backwards.
Paladin couldn't stop though, his body shifted as his body became more armored and his sword became larger and two handed, charging at Ranbu. Ranbu looked at him, "You've been hiding that form changing trick from me have you?" Paladin slashed at him, sending him flying, "I never had a reason to show it to you."
As Ranbu went flying up, Paladin shifted again, becoming less armored and the red on his body becoming gold as his sword became smaller but made of energy. He flew up, with blinding speed meeting Ranbu who was still flying up, his sword becoming a larger beam as Paladin slashed at him. As Ranbu fell back down, Paladin returned to his original form as he went back down with him.
Ranbu stopped himself from falling to the ground, chuckling to himself as he threw his lance at Paladin, Paladin being unable to dodge it as it stabbed him in the side. Paladin let out a small moan as he pulled the lance out, struggling through the pain. Ranbu cracked his knuckles, "You were trying to end this quickly but looks like you failed, now it's my turn."
He flew upwards at Paladin, crashing into him and then throwing him into the ground, flying down and aiming a kick at him. Paladin struggled to register it as the kick connected, Ranbu then hitting him with several punches, black electricity emanating from every single punch.
Paladin finally catching his breath caught one of the punches, the two exchanging blows several times before they finally separated from each other, both clearly injured. Ranbu cackled, "Slowing down my friend? Ready to give up?" Paladin shook his head, "No, I'm going to defeat you even if I have to put my all into one last attack."
Ranbu scoffed as darkness pooled around his arms, "Well then, I guess I can't hold back either." Paladin pooled all his energy into his arms, preparing his final attack, "POSITRONIUM DRAGOON!" "GENOCIDE WRECKER!" The black and blue beam, and the white and red beam connected as the two entered into a beam clash. Paladin felt himself almost overwhelmed before he shook his head, "No, no matter what I won't lose, I won't let you fall to darkness!"
He channeled all of his power, putting it into his attack as Ranbu became overwhelmed, being engulfed in the beam as an explosion engulfed the battlefield. Ranbu fell to his knees, almost all of his energy gone, as his color timer beat red. He looked up to see a limping Paladin approaching him, Ranbu standing up and looking at him, "Damn you Paladin, why is it that I could never beat you? Why did you have to try and stop me?"
Paladin let out a small chuckle as he reached his best friend, his color timer not even beating red, it was simply broken. He fell to his knees, putting a hand on Ranbu's shoulder, pulling him into a hug, "Even after all this, you're still my best friend, no my brother. Thanks for making this life fun, Ranbu." He dissolved into particles of light, leaving Ranbu to scream.
He didn't want this, despite it all he didn't want his best friend to die. He watched as the particles of light floated in the air, perhaps the last of his light floating with it. The old him was gone, everyone he cared about gone. Before he could do anything else, a chain of light appeared, grabbing him the wrist.
Ranbu screamed as several other chains grabbed him by the limbs, looking up to see Ultraman King floating down to meet him, "Damn you old man! How could you do this to me, I did this for your daughter." King shook his head and landed on the ground, "Melody would not have wanted this, if you truly loved her you would understand that."
Ranbu began to scream as King began to summon earth around him, "I don't have the heart to execute you, so let's hope some thousands of years imprisoned will rehabilitate you." Ranbu could only be left to scream as he was imprisoned deep into the planet, cursing the name of Ultraman King and Paladin as he was imprisoned. King let out a sigh as he looked at the destruction, his heart heavy with the fate of his beloved students and his daughter.
As he looked at the light particles, he collected them and placed them into a container he summoned. He heard someone else arrive, "Your master is gone, I am most sorry." He heard a small sniff from Paladin's student, "My master sacrificed his life to try and save his once best friend, I won't forget that. In his honor I'll make sure to found a group, one full of our people who he himself would approve of. The Royal Knights, we'll defend the galaxy, taking orders only from you."
Ultraman King nodded before looking down at the particles, "Perhaps one day, we'll be able to revive him, but until then I will keep these safe." The student nodded as he looked around at the battlefield, hoping one day his master could be revived.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Present Day
There was silence as Ranbu finished his story, "Belial escaping his own prison years ago sent out shockwaves that loosened my prison, and I was eventually able to escape, being able to continue what Paladin stopped me from doing long ago."
The two were silent for a moment before Takato spoke, "I understand, you wanted to protect those you loved and you lost them. BUT that doesn't give you the right to sacrifice the universe to do so. We Ultra's aren't gods, and we certainly aren't judge, jury and executioner."
Daisuke nodded in agreement, "You aren't wrong that some people are capable of evil, but that doesn't mean they all need to die because you think the universe is just pure chaos." Ranbu let out a sigh, "I see you two still insist on seeing the goodness in people. Very well, since this was a waste of time, allow me to see your resolve, go stop Gomess."
He hit a button, the bars of the cells opened as the two stood up. Daisuke looked at Takato, "Do you think this is a trap?" Takato frowned, "Doesn't matter right now, we need to stop Gomess before he does more damage." Daisuke nodded as the two ran out of the cell, leaving Ranbu to observe them, even if they defeated Gomess, he would finish them off.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
The two arrived outside, looking at each other before summoning their transformation devices. Both of them raising them up high, "Gallant!" "Vee!" Ultraman Gallant and Ultraman Vee rose and landed in front of Gomess, the kaiju roaring at them as they got into fighting stances. Gallant charged at it, punching him several times before delivering a roundhouse kick to its stomach.
Vee summoned both of his blades, flying around Gomess and slashing at him several times. Gomess tried to swing its tail at them, but Gallant blocked it with his shield, "Vee let's finish this quickly." Vee nodded as the two charged up their attacks. Gallant's shield glowed as Vee charged his beam, "Specium Shield!" "Dragonic Impulsium!"
The two fired their attacks, destroying Gomess and causing an explosion. The two Ultra's let out a breath of relief, until they began to hear a cackling, the explosion clearing revealing Ranbu standing there. He began to clap, "Excellent job, you're getting better at this, too bad I feel that you need another lesson in defeat." Gallant and Vee looked at each other, Gallant nodding at Vee, "Vee, let's attack him at the same time, he can't fight both of us at once."
Vee nodded as the two charged at Ranbu, both trying to fight him, but Ranbu seemed to not worry much about fighting on both sides, blocking both punches from them and knocking the two back. They charged again, this time managing to hit Ranbu this time and taking the opportunity, hitting him with a combo of blows that made Ranbu actually take a step back.
Ranbu chuckled, "Well this is interesting, your punches don't feel like a pillow fight anymore. Perhaps I should actually try now." He charged at them, quickly knocking Vee to the ground and slamming his foot down onto his chest, causing the blue Ultra to be knocked out of breath.
Gallant watched his friend being beaten down and growled in anger, "No not again, I'm not letting you hurt anyone else again." He glowed with a crimson aura, charging at Ranbu and punching him several times, crimson energy emanating with every punch as Ranbu actually got caught off guard. Ranbu growled and charged at him, "Damn insect!"
As he prepared a punch, Gallant grabbed him by the wrist, sweeping his legs out from under him and as he fell, slammed his leg down into his chest. Ranbu let out a guttural scream, that attack was one Paladin always used on him, how did this brat know to use it. Ranbu quickly stood up, grabbing Gallant by the neck and lifting him up, "Dammit, who the hell are you? Why do you remind me so much of him?"
Gallant let out a gasp, "I'm Ultraman Gallant, that's it!" Ranbu sighed and threw him away, Gallant struggling to get back up as Ranbu turned towards multiple buildings, "I think it's time to stop playing games." The crystal on his head began to glow, "Darkium Shot!"
The dark beam hit several buildings, causing them to explode as the Ultra's heard the screams coming from them. They tried to get up but seemed to lack the energy as they watched helplessly, they needed a miracle, they needed someone to save the day.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
The building began to shake, the JSDF having started to look out the windows of Ultraman Ranbu destroying the city. Kakuhiro remained silent as Reika turned towards him, "Captain what's the plan here? That black one is gonna destroy Tokyo at this point." Captain Kakuhiro frowned as he pressed the button on his communicator, "Tsubasa, what's the status of the power?"
He heard a sigh from the other side, "Not great, that Kaiju completely fried the city's power and it even caused the backup generator severe damage." Kakuhiro grimaced, he turned back towards his wife and niece, Yuki hugging Kyoko as both looked terrified. The city was burning, his loved ones were scared and his team were questioning what to do.
He reached towards the locked drawer at his desk, unlocking it with his thumbprint, taking out a small box as he turned towards Reika, "Reika you're in charge, take care of Kyoko and Yuki, I'll be back later." Reika raised an eyebrow, "Captain what do you plan to do?" She tried following him, no one noticing the box in his hands as he stopped, raising his voice at her, "Reika I said stay here!" Reika said nothing as
Kakuhiro left the room, he'd hoped he never needed to do this again as he descended down the stairway towards the exit of the building. As he reached the exit of the building he threw off his glasses and opened the box, taking out a pair of weird looking glasses, being black and gold in cover with green lenses.
Captain Kakuhiro breathed in deeply, placing the glasses on his face, hitting a button on the top, becoming engulfed in silver, black and gold light. Ranbu prepared to finish off Gallant and Vee, having had his fun with them. As he prepared another beam, a flash of gold appeared, a silver and black leg kicking him aside as the ground shook. Gallant and Vee stood up, in awe at what now stood in front of them, Gallant letting out a heavy breath, "The Ultraman from 15 years ago?"
The Ultra was silver in color with black markings, and gold armor on his chest, arms, shoulders and his head. His green eyes looked at Ranbu, as he gave a thumbs up to the two younger Ultra's. Ranbu stood up, growling, "You, we only met once but I'd remember you anywhere, Paladin's student." Vee looked at Gallant in confusion, "Sir Paladin had a student?"
Gallant shrugged as the newly arrived Ultra got into a fighting pose, "That's right, you may call me Alpha, Ultraman Alpha!" Ranbu let out a scream as he moved his arms, "It doesn't matter what your name is, you'll die all the same!" His arms glowed black and blue, Alpha preparing his own beam as gold and black swirled around him, "Genocide Wrecker!" "Alphaium Beam!"
The two beams clashed, but Alpha's was stronger as it sent Ranbu back, causing him to skid backwards as he cursed under his breath. His color timer began to beep, "Damn you, next time I'll destroy all three of you." He disappeared into darkness as Alpha turned towards Gallant and Vee, both being unable to stand anymore as they passed out, returning to their human forms.
Takato awoke startled, barely remembering how the battle had ended as he shot up, looking around at his surroundings. He noticed Daisuke next to him, still passed out as he noticed someone had brought them to safety. He turned to see Captain Kakuhiro leaning against the wall, blank faced as he held up two items, the Gallant Spark and his own transformation item as well.
Takato frowned, the captain was the Ultraman of 15 years ago? Kakuhiro stepped off the wall, approaching him, "Omega never told you about me did he?" Takato shook his head, "Why would he?"
Kakuhiro chuckled as he held out the Gallant Spark to him, "Because I would've hoped he'd tell his beloved student about his own teacher." The room went silent, this was the Ultra that trained Master Omega? Takato had so many questions, but as silence filled the air, the only one he could really ask first was, what the hell was going on?
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Next time on Ultraman Gallant!
Takato is speaking to Tsubasa
"I can't believe I didn't figure out the captain was an Ultra"
Ranbu stands before Kakuhiro
"How the hell did you end up on Earth?"
Finally Alpha and Ranbu are locked in battle
"If you really want to know the truth about Gallant you'll have to beat me first!"
THE END!
