Update 8/17/2022: thank you Shadowpawzzzfor catching that error earlier today. I had put far eastern as the second language in my first draft and forgot to change it in my second at the top so thanks.

The sunlight shown through the curtains casting a glare directly onto the bed.

"Hnn"

I let out a groan as the sun hit me directly waking me from my sleep. Opening my eyes I immediately slammed them shut as a splitting pain hit me. Why does my head feel like I've been clubbed, why is my entire body sore? A weight pressed into my chest snuggling into it.

Oh right, we had too much to drink last night. We left the mountains about two weeks ago and had finally made it to Melen yesterday. There was a small celebration at a local pub and I might have drank too much. In hindsight I needed it, two weeks. Two. Fucking. Weeks. and I've yet to figure out my sorcerous origin.

Then there was my next problem...er well I don't know if I should call her a problem. Lint, as I've found, is an excitable young woman to say the least. She's spent the better part of her time with us poking and prodding, metaphorically, me trying to figure out everything she can. She also seems to be a bit of a very clingy person much to Jasmines ire.

Still apparently she keeps referring to me as an angel, saying I have some kind of holy power. That's at least given me a few ideas as to my origin.

Though I'm not sure how I feel about her reason for staying so close too me. Apparently, by a completely chance encounter, Ouranos has taken an interest in me and wants to meet me. Not to say it would be a bad idea if I manage to get into his familia. Having his backing and that of the guild would be a huge boon in the long run.

Anyway back to Lint she's a new level two of Ouranos familia, and apparently has the alias of 'Orario's Silver Angel'. That's not where I know her from though, Lint Sellezen was a character from the High school DxD light novel. In the novel she was an exorcist and reincarnated angel with a powerful sacred gear, Incinerate Anthem. Now it appears she has skills similar to her canon self, if the silver wings and ability to create black flaming weapons was any indication.

There was a light yawn that brought me from my thoughts, slowly opening my eyes again I find a pair of amused deep yellow eyes staring back.

"Well that certainly happened." She said with a chuckle.

A sudden memory hit me 'his arms encircled her back, her long slender legs his, he held her tightly as she arched her back his name a moan.'

I couldn't stop the light blush that came to my cheeks. I had never had sex before, not even in my previous life so this was certainly a new experience. I shared her chuckle "Yeah, it was certainly something."

She slowly sits up beside me holding the sheet to her chest. "You know I loved every second of it, but we should talk."

I sit up with her, it's obvious by the look in her eye that she's both conflicted and dreading something. "Okay what's on your mind?"

She sighed. "The way things are looking we'll probably end up in different familia. I'm not going to lie I was hoping to keep you with us when we got to Orario, but one does not simply turn their nose up to Ouranos."

I nodded having some idea where this was going. "That's true, but Ouranos or not I have no intention of joining up with a complete tyrant."

She chuckled. "Yeah, but a lot of familia have rules against outside relationships. Dia won't have a problem with it I'm sure."

I raise an eyebrow "You know I thought for a while you were trying to set me up with Jasmine?"

She smirked, it was not a pleasant smirk, "Oh make no mistake I am. I like women just as much as men, but as you know elves only ever have one lover in their lifetime. At least that's tradition, one I actually agree with."

I'm lost and it must show as she start to giggle a little. It's a soft and melodic sound, one that suits her perfectly. "So...what are you trying to say?"

She cups my cheek as she leans in slowly. "You took my first time, while the both of us were drunk no less, so you better take responsibility. I'm telling you that I have no problems with you pursuing Jasmine or any other girl, but you damn well better take responsibility for what we did."

Realization finally dawns on me, yeah shit I forgot about elven traditions. I took her virginity so by tradition we're essentially married for a lack of a better word. It doesn't help that by elven standards Helen is still considered a teenager, despite her being in her mid twenties.

I had absolutely no plans of this happening, hell it'll more than likely make everything even more difficult, but I can't just fuck and run. That would be a complete dick thing to do, not to mention...what if she ends up with child?

I run my hand through my hair and let out a sigh. "You don't have to twist my arm Helen. I was basically raised by elves. I know what we did has consequences and I'm going to take responsibility, in more ways than one if I have to. Let's just take it a little slower going forward."

It's seems it's her turn to blush as she playfully swats my arm. "I may be a half elf, but I'm still an elf. Pregnancy is incredibly difficult, so I don't think we'll have to worry about having little ones too soon."

She then twists her body so her legs are hanging off the bed. Letting the sheet fall she stands up as she turns to me with a smirk. "Now, I'm going to get a shower do try not to state too hard."

With that she walks to the shower adjoining my room as she sways her hips. Damn it's hard not to stare. I lay back down and sigh, well shit that wasn't what I was expecting. Finally I get up and start to get dressed as I do I check my status.

Not bad in all honesty, I received six hundred eighty-seven experience and four hundred fifty GP from completing the 'population control' quest including a bonus for killing the Wendigo. I also put my two stat points into my strength and wisdom stats.

Still I wonder why my AC hasn't fallen since my armor..was...shredded.

"I'm a fucking idiot."

I quickly search through my stuff until I find my small knife. Slowly I take it against the upper part of my arm applying just enough pressure to break skin. It barely leaves so much as a scratch, against the abrasion I can see small scales.

Wow...just wow, I'm a complete fucking idiot. How did I not realize I have a Draconic Bloodline.

"My sorcerous origin is Draconic Bloodline."

Nothing, no response whatsoever, well I should have expected that. Now I just need to figure out what ancestor I have and that should work. I turn around as I hear the bathroom door open.

"All yours." Helen says as she walks out wrapped in a towel. "My familia and I are going to look around the city today so I'll be gone when you get out."

"Alright, I had planned on doing the same today so I might see you around. Lint mentioned wanting me to meet someone too." I explained as I grab a change of clothes. As I pass Helen she gives me a quick kiss on the cheek.

Timeskip

About thirty five minutes later I'm standing outside the inn waiting for Lint. As I'm waiting I'm observing the various people walking through the busy streets. Melen being a trading port and all means it's quite a diverse population.

I soon hear a shuffle of feet as I look back to the inn to see Lint moving quickly as her eyes catch mine. "Oh mister angel!" She shouted as she bound over to me. "Hope I didn't keep you waiting long."

I waved her worries off as I spoke having long given up hoping to get her to refer to me by name. "Not long so who did you want me to meet?"

"Nuh uh~, you gotta come with me." She sang as she started walking away.

"So you never told me how or why Ouranos found out about me?" I asked as we continued walking.

"Oh that..." she waved a hand in dismissal. "I was just flying back to Orario when I felt something and decided to check it out. That's when I saw you and jazzy fighting the Wendigo, oh right!" She shouted before pulling her bag off her back and stared rummaging through it. She soon pulled out the skull the wendigo had worn and handed it to me. "You left so quick that you forgot it's drop item."

I looked over the skull curiously "The deer skull it wore was a drop item?"

She nodded in excitement. "Yep, it's worth like 1.5 million valis." She explained causing my eyes to widen.

"I don't suppose you know a place to sell it here?" I asked quickly putting it in my bag.

She nods and leads me off to the guild building. After a little convincing on Lints part we were able to sell the skull for the exact amount Lint quoted.

As we get back on with our walk I take a few minutes to observe Lint. I'm forced to immediately rethink my first impression of her. She not only thought to grab the wendigo's drop item, but also had a certain way with how she talked to the guild staff. She's much smarter than my initial opinion of her, at first I had believed her to be an air head. That has quickly been disproven the more I've talked to her. She may be a little cheerier than most and slightly childish, but she's definitely a smart-

"Ow!"

A sharp cry of pain immediately catches my attention as I look towards the direction it came from. My eyes widen as the see exactly who it was, there in the middle of the street is none other than Sanjouno Haruhime. Around her neck is a metal slave collar connected to a chain held in the grasp of a pallum.

The pallum snarls as he yanks on the chain "Stupid girl get up, I can't wait to be rid of you."

"Slavery, disgusting isn't it?" I'm surprised at the tone of voice Lint has. The normally cheery girl is practically hissing at the sight.

"Why not do something?"

"The guild has a presence here just to maintain trade with Orario and maintain order in the city. All the different kingdoms and cultures that pass through make it impossible to stop such a thing, all the guild can do is tax it heavily." She growls out as the pallum raises his hand to strike Haruhime. The renard flinches as she braces herself for the blow.

"A moment sir!"

The pallum pauses surprised by my shout as I walk over to him and Haruhime. I try to school my features the best I can as I start talking. "My apologies, but I couldn't help notice the commotion is everything okay?"

"No this fool girl has me at my wits end. Damn renard if it wasn't for their rarity I wouldn't even bother with her." He growls cashing Haruhime to flinch.

"Oh? Something special about renards?" I ask feigning Ignorance. I'll let the pallum get worked up and then make my move.

"Not very worldly guy are ya? Ha ha! Well let me tell you, renards are mostly from the Far East and some have had ridiculous magic abilities in the past." He explains as a grin stretches across his face.

"Oh?" I take a look at Haruhime pretending to look her over. She shrinks back a little until I give her a small almost unnoticeable smile. She sees it however the pallum misses it entirely. "Then how much for her?"

He seems to grin even more as he pretends to think over it. "Hmmm...half a million and not a valis less. She does come from a pretty good line if that's your thing, otherwise she'll do you good."

I take a look at Haruhime and she seems almost hopeful. That seals it, I have him where I want him and he believes it was all his idea. I quickly slip off my bag and take out the amount he wants. Without a second thought I toss him the pouch with the money. "Need to count it?"

"Oh no, no, I wouldn't dare disrespect a customer by doing such. After all when you've been in this business as long as I have you have a certain way of knowing how much is in your hand." He gloats as he hands her 'leash' to me and begins to merrily move on his was.

"Hunters mark." I mutter understand my breath marking the pallum. Now I'll know his every step so long as he stays within a mile of me.

I turn to Haruhime and motion for her to follow me. Catching Lints gaze I nod towards an alley out of the way, she nods back to me and meets me there. When we get a good distance in I turn around to face Haruhime.

"What's your name miss?"

"S-sanjouno H-ha-haruhime" she stutters out.

I reach up towards her collar causing her to flinch. Gripping the collar with both hands I quickly snap it off freeing her. She feels around her throat almost disbelievingly before she looks up. I set my right hand on her head an rub it gently.

"Well Haruhime, you're free now." I say with a small smile.

She looks down at the broken collar and back up again several time before finally she crashes right into my chest trying to hug the life out of me. I'm actually surprised at how strong she is almost as if she has a falna.

POV Fels

Standing several rooftops away I continue to watch the scene unfold. The renard girl crying into the young man's chest as Lint rubs circles into her back.

"Hmm, perhaps this one will make a fine addition Lord Ouranos." I mutter.

Transforming into an owl I take flight over the three catching Lints attention. She nods slightly understanding the meaning of the gesture. Of course she does, that girl always was more perceptive than she let on. I suppose that was her brothers fault leaving her as he did.

Taking flight towards Orario I continue on Lord Ouranos needs to know of this development. I will leave the matter of the slaver to the young man, after all it wasn't hard to detect the use of magic.

POV Dante

A few hours later sees the three of us returning to the inn once again. Yes, I said three, Haruhime has decided to follow us to Orario. Despite my protest she is fully intent on repaying the 'life debt' she now owes me.

Though I'm not fool enough to miss the soft blushes as she looks to me or speaks with me, she's clearly developing a crush on me like she did with Bell only to a lesser degree. Can't really say anything about that, in canon Bell risked life and limb to save her from a ritual that would have killed her. I on the other hand bought her from the Pallum that orchestrated her exile in the first place. Anyway we had most the day free since Lint told me the person she wanted me to meet sent word they would have to cancel.

With that in mind Haruhime spent the day with Lint and I shopping as we got to know her. She explained that she was very briefly given a blessing in the Far East before the Pallum took her away. According to her she has the same spell as in canon which allows her to level up an ally of her choosing temporarily. Thankfully she's agreed to my and Lint's very insistent arguments to not divulge that information to anyone.

With that said the three of us spent the day around the markets. I bought a few materials to use with my transmutation spells, the only spells that require a material to manipulate. Lint for the most part simply browsed the stalls buying a few books. Haruhime looked at several different outfits since she only had the one she was wearing. She was going to walk away before I quickly bought the outfits she had been eyeing much to her surprise. She tried to protest, but was quickly shut down when I told her that I would cover the cost of whatever she needed for the next few days.

It wasn't something I mind doing for her either, Haruhime as it turns out is pretty conservative with her looks opting for mostly traditional kimono's. Now that I think about it that's not too surprising considering far eastern culture is pretty much the same as early Japanese culture.

Now it was later in the afternoon with the three of us back at the inn. Lint took Haruhime to her and Jasmines room where she'll be staying, while I sat in my room pondering my origin. From what I managed to convince Lint to tell me my presence has an almost holy presence too it. Of course it's not a holy dragon as no such thing exists. She described my aura as being 'pure' and 'warm' so my ancestor obviously had a fire element.

"Let's see, the only dragons that use fire are red, bronze, and gold. Reds out since that doesn't match up with the 'holy' thing. Bronze could technically have a holy attribute or mutation, but if one was likely to take on those characteristics then it would be gold." Brainstorming the possibilities I stand up.

"Alright, my sorcerous origin is Draconic Bloodline from a gold dragon." I state aloud and suddenly I receive a quest complete alert.

A Quest has been completed:

Good I'm making plenty of progress towards level two. Before anything else I go to the store and cash in my random item.

Randomizing...

Randomizing...

Tome of unknown summons (wonderous item, very rare): This book contains lost rituals to summon a variety of creatures, and it's words are charged with magic text. If you spend 72 hours over a course of eight days or fewer studying and practicing it's contents, you receive one to two random summoning spells, as well as a proficiency in the conjuration school. The manual then loses its magic, but regains it a century later.

Hell yeah! That's much better than I was expecting and definitely worth it, especially since I don't unlock a summoning spell since level two.

While I would like nothing more than to start making grimoires and going over the tome, I have a loose end that needs tying.Swapping out a few spells I quickly exit the inn from a discreetly placed window and dropped to street level.

"Disguise Self"

Muttering the spell under my breath I transform into an elf a foot shorter than my true height with sea foam green hair. My mark is still active so I know exactly where the pallum slaver is. I need to make sure he stays quiet in a more permanent manner, it's a very likely possibility he'll try and sell the information of Haruhime's magic to another familia and that's a possibility I just can't have.

After nearly forty-five minutes I find the little bastard drunk off his ass in an alley outside a local brothel. Using my silent image spell I craft an image of a prostitute and use the microphone or illusion spell to give the image a voice promising sweet nothings to the pallum.

He doesn't just take the bait, but he swallows the whole damn hook. He drunkenly stumbles further into the dark alleyway becoming forgotten to the people on the streets. The image leads him around a corner and into a dead end where it dispels. He looks around confused not noticing that I'm now directly behind him.

There's no hesitation, he was filth, a slaver, a cheat, and a deceiver. My blade stabs into the base of his skull as my opposite hand covers his mouth. It was a clean cut severing his spinal cord killing him almost instantly. His body falls as I'm already leaving the alley. With another application of disguise self anyone who saw an elf enter the alley will only see a red headed dwarf leaving.

With the deed done Haruhime's secret is now safe with the four people who know. Myself, Lint, Haruhime, and whoever the god was that gave her the blessing in the first place. The Ishtar familia won't be coming for her now meaning one less problem on my plate.

Taking one last glance at the moon I sigh. In two weeks everything will undoubtedly start to pick up. Orario will be one hell of an adventure.

Hello everyone sorry it's taken a while I've been in the middle of switching jobs. I've managed to slowly get this chapter written at least. Thank you to everyone whose reviewed this story. Well until next time.
