Galvatron woke up at the sound of pedes. He curled around the sparkling recharging on his lap. The violet mech only calmed down when he saw his slightly larger mate. Cyclonus passed over a half-full cube of energon and a servo-sized cube of low-grade. His once shining armor was now dulled from being in hiding.
"I managed to get some energon," said Cyclonus. He sat down, leaning his sword against the cavern wall they were in. "How is he doing?"
"Not so good. He was purging earlier and hasn't woken up for groons," said Galvatron. His red optics showed how worried he was for his son. "I don't think he can last long Cy."
"I know," said Cyclonus. He took his son, gently rousing the sparkling.
"Sire?" Megatronus questioned.
"I'm here Megatronus. Do you think you can refuel a bit?" Cyclonus asked. Megatronus looked at the cube being pushed against his lips. The sparkling weakly pushed at it, shaking his helm.
"Don't wanna. My tank hurts too much," said Megatronus.
"You need to if you want to survive," said Cyclonus. He tried again, desperate to even get his son to intake a bit of energon. "Please Megatronus, just a little bit, then you can go back into recharge."
Megatronus sipped away at the blue energon. He took in about a third of the cube before refusing anymore. He slipped back into recharge, tiny claws pawing against his sire's chest. The Vosian placed the cube down, merely holding his son as his mate refueled.
"Did you have energon?" Galvatron asked.
"I've had a bit," said Cyclonus.
"You need more if we are to continue on to avoid the Vosian hunters," said Galvatron.
"I know my love, but you and our son come before me," said Cyclonus. "You should try to recharge. I shall stay up and keep guard."
Galvatron finished the energon, knowing how stubborn the purple seeker could be. The mech settled down near the fire, helm resting on Cyclonus' lap. They would be moving soon to avoid detection. Cyclonus started to sing softly in ancient Cybertronian to soothe his mate to sleep.

Cyclonus jerked awake, having not realized he had fallen into recharge. He looked outside, glad that the fire had died during the cold night. Two seekers had their guns out, looking around the area. He silently cursed, waking up Galvatron with a digit to his lips to keep quiet. Both violet mechs got up, moving as quietly as they could.
"They should be around here somewhere," one seeker said.
"These marks were made within the past solar cycle," the other observed.
Cyclonus went out the emergency exit they had made, making sure Megatronus was still in recharge. The couple moved their way around, staying down low to get away from the two seekers.
"There!"
Cyclonus cursed out loud, grabbing Galvatron's servo with his free one and pulling as they ran. Megatronus was jostled awake, scared when the guns went off. He looked up to his sire, shaking in fear. Galvatron yelled out, his back being shot. He lost feeling in his legs and collapsed. Cyclonus stopped, turning back to his fallen mate.
"Cyclonus get him out of here!" Galvatron said. He managed to turn and fire his fusion cannon at the two hunters. "Protect our son! I can't feel my legs. There is no chance for me now."
"I'm not leaving you," Cyclonus shook his helm. He winced when a stray shot brushed against one of his horns.
"Go! I'll hold them off!"
Cyclonus heaved a heavy sigh before resuming his running. He saw some ruins and hid in them. The bond between the two was shut, preventing Cyclonus from feeling any pain. Two sets of pedesteps ran after them. Cyclonus shielded his son when a barrage of bullets hit his back. The seeker managed to hide Megatronus when he fell to his knees.
"Megatronus, no matter what happens, I need you to run away when it is completely silent. Do not make any noise," said Cyclonus. He felt the sticky energon pouring down his back. "Promise me you will do that. It is very important that you do."
"Okay sire," Megatronus said. "Are you and carrier going to come back?"
"I hope so," said Cyclonus. "Wait a few solar cycles. If we don't come back, get as far away as you can. Remember, your carrier and I love you very much."
"I love you both too," said Megatronus.
"Good mech. Now stay quiet. I need to go to your carrier," said Cyclonus. He stood up, leaving the emergency rations with his son. There was no way he and Galvatron could survive, but their son would.
"There he is!"
Cyclonus limped as fast as he could to where Galvatron last was. His spark stopped when he saw the motionless bot laying on his front. Cyclonus turned to face his enemies, pulling out his sword from his back. The other two seekers pulled out shorter swords and attacked. They managed to get in a few hits, but Cyclonus blocked most of them.
"Give it up Cyclonus. You can't live with how much energon you are losing," the first taunted.
"Come back with us and restore your honor," the other said. "That pathetic thing is dead. You can now bond with Scourge."
"Never. I will stay loyal to my mate," Cyclonus spat. "You will never take me back. Scourge means nothing to me."
Cyclonus collapsed right next to Galvatron, reaching out a servo to the still mech. The seekers stopped, kicking at the exiled seeker. They got nothing.
"Let's go back to Vos and report that the traitor and that thing is dead," said the second.

Megatronus waited like he was told. A few solar cycles had gone by and still no sign of his creators. The little mech finished off the energon and started to walk away from where he was. They had hidden near Tarn, but Megatronus headed away from there and went towards Polyhex and then Praxus. He stayed in the streets, begging for energon from anybot that passed by, only to be pushed aside.
Megatronus cried in the dark allies that he stayed in. He scavenged for energon, drinking recycled and dirtied fuel when he found it. The silver mechling had made it to the second city. There he stayed until he was approached by a red mech.
"Hey there little one," said the new mech. "What's yer name? Where are yeh from?"
"M-Megatronus," Megatronus said. "M-my creators... they never came back. S-s-some mean mechs were chasing t-them. Sire hid me after carrier fell and didn't move. Sire told m-me to run a-away before h-he fell too next to carrier."
~~~present time
Megatronus woke up, looking out the window. He climbed out of the berth and went to go refuel. Once again, Ratchet and Ironhide were already there with a small cube for him. The mechling drank his morning fuel, filling up his tank.
"Megatronus, we need ta talk," said Ironhide, setting aside his datapad. "How would ya like if the two of us became yer guardians and possibly adoptive creators?"
"Really?!" Megatronus perked up, hope glittering in his tiny red orbs. "You two want me?!" His voice grew quiet. "But what about my creators?"
"I'm sure they would want us ta care fer ya. They were our friends after all," said Ironhide.
"I would love to stay here with you two," said Megatronus.
"Excellent. We shall send you to school so that you get a good education," said Ratchet. His internal alarm beeped at him. "It's time for me to go to work."
"All right love. Ah'll see ya when ya get home," said Ironhide, kissing his mate farewell. "I'll drop Megatronus off with Alpha Trion before headin' ta work."
~~~000
"Hello again little one," said Alpha Trion.
"Hope ya don't mind. Ah have ta get ta work and Megs won't be starting school yet," said Ironhide.
"Do you think that is wise?" Alpha Trion asked. "There would be a very high chance he could be turned over and taken away because of his looks."
"Well he has to learn somehow," said Ironhide.
"I am fit enough to teach Megatronus," said Alpha Trion. "I can get assignments from the nearby academies and give them to him. I do nothing around here most the time."
"If that works out fer ya," said Ironhide. "Ah have no problem and Ah can tell Ratch'. We make enough ta send 'im here every solar cycle."
"Go to work my friend. You will be late if you don't. Megatronus is in good servos."
"Bye-bye Appa," said Megatronus, holding onto Alpha Trion's servo.
"Goodbye Megatronus. Meh or Ratch' will be by later on ta pick ya up," said Ironhide.
~~~9 stellar cycles later
"Megatronus, we have some good news," said Ratchet, excited like a sparkling on their creation day.
"What is it Amma?" Megatronus asked. The youngling set aside his datapad, the one that Alpha Trion had given to him when he was a sparkling.
"We will be getting some new additions to the family," said Ratchet.
"Really? When? Where?" Megatronus asked. The couple laughed.
"They won't be here fer another joor," said Ironhide. "Ratch' is sparked."
Megatronus knew that his guardians couldn't have a sparkling of their own. Hearing this was a miracle from Primus. The youngling jumped up and hugged his guardians. This was wonderful news.
"How many?" the youngling gushed.
"Two. They are split-spark twins," said Ratchet. He pulled out a datapad with pictures of his spark. "See these two little spots? Those are the sparklings' sparks."
Megatronus stared at the picture. He was going to be an older sibling in a way. Two little sparklings would be joining them in a joor. And it was amazing because split-spark twins were extremely rare. Only a hundred or two were ever recorded out of the millions that lived on Cybertron.
"I'll protect them with my life," Megatronus promised.
"We knew ya would Megs," said Ironhide.
~~~000
Alpha Trion taught the growing youngling almost every solar cycle. The youngling would absorb the information like a sponge, taking in all the wonders. He had gotten close with Alpha Trion as a mentor, his guardians, and the Prime. Every now and then he would be with Ratchet at the clinic, growing an interest in being a medic, but not really sure. He would still help out when he can, storing away the information for future uses. They had moved to Iacon when Ironhide got a promotion and Ratchet got submitted to Iacon's main hospital as CMO.
Megatronus sat in Alpha Trion's office, swinging his legs as he read at the desk. He was waiting for his guardians to come. Alpha Trion was done for the day and was working on some sorting out data files. The door was broken down, startling the two occupants. Five High Council guards barged in, surrounding the two with their guns. Another mech came sauntering in. Alpha Trion scowled at the mech, recognizing him.
"What do you want Pyro?" Alpha Trion demanded. "You have no right here."
"Oh leave the lectures old mech," said Pyro. "We have orders to take this youngling into our care."
"By whom's orders?" Alpha Trion asked, now standing close to Megatronus.
"He is to be taken to the lower caste in Kaon as a Gladiator for the Pit fights," said Pyro, smirking as he pulled out a datapad with the warrant.
"You cannot do this! Megatronus is under the care of Officer Ironhide and Chief Medical Officer Ratchet," said Alpha Trion. "And as his mentor, he is my student and under my protection when not with his guardians."
"Orders A3," Pyro sneered. "Take him. Use force if you have to."
"Let me go! Alpha help me! I want Amma and Appa," Megatronus cried out. He was roughly grabbed and restrained with chains. "Ow! No let me go! Let me go!"
"Megatronus!"
Alpha Trion ran to his student, punching down one of the guards. He screamed when courses of electricity went through his body from behind. Pyro stood there with an energon prod, holding it to the elder mech's neck. Alpha Trion convulsed wildly on the ground as the voltage went up.
"No stop it! Please you're going to kill him! Stop please!"
"Get him out of here. We are done here," Pyro ordered. He stopped his brutal treatment to the mech. "Alpha Trion cannot do anything and neither can the Prime. Get ready to head out to Kaon."
Megatronus fought back as much as he can. He wanted to make sure Alpha Trion was okay, but couldn't. He feared that the old mech had been slain since his body couldn't take much with his age. He had grown to respect one of the original Primes, which he found out by reading the datapad he had in his subspace.
Flashes and news bots shouted out questions from outside the Hall of Records. Pyro ignored them and went to the transport, opening the door. Megatronus thrashed around the entire time, hoping to get away. He spotted his guardians sprinting to the crowd when they saw him. They must of been there to pick him up.
"Amma! Appa! Help me!" Megatronus shouted.
The guards threw Megatronus in, shutting and locking the door. Megatronus saw his guardians being held back by the guards as he was taken away. The look of devastation broke his spark. He would never see his guardians again. They hadn't even officially adopted him, and now never will. Hot tears went down his face and dripped down. The youngling curled up in a corner, mourning over his loss. It was just like losing his creators all over again.
~~~000
Ratchet and Ironhide were let go and the news bots dispersing. Ironhide fumed, threatening to get his son back. A horrible thought dawned on him.
"Alpha Trion," Ironhide whispered. "Megs was with Alpha."
The couple ran into the Hall of Records and to the office. They saw the motionless body. Ratchet slid to his knees, turning Alpha Trion onto his back. He did a scan, cursing when he saw the low vitals.
"'Hide, call in the Officers and tell them what happened. I need to get Alpha to the hospital now," said Ratchet with urgency. He lightly patted his friend's face. "Alpha? Alpha can you hear me?"
~~~000
Megatronus jerked his helm up when the transport stopped and the door was unlocked. He shrank back as a mech stood next to Pyro.
"This is the new mech?" the black seeker asked.
"Yes he is," said Pyro. "He goes by Megatronus. His former guardians were Officer Ironhide and Chief Medical Officer Ratchet."
"I see. He will make an excellent fighter," the mech said.
"Don't have too much fun Darkstrike," Pyro teased, jabbing at the Pit owner.
Pyro left and Darkstrike dropped his act.
"What a fragging son of a glitch," Darkstrike muttered. "You're safe now Megatronus. I won't hurt you. In fact I am friends with your guardians. Ratchet comes to my Pits every now and then, teaching my medics and helping out. He told me about you when Ironhide first brought you home with him."
"What are you going to do?" Megatronus asked fearfully.
"Oh nothing. I'll make sure you are trained and give you easy battles. If you do well enough, you will go up in the ranks and eventually become the top fighter," said Darkstrike.
"I wanna go home," Megatronus whimpered. "I want Amma and Appa and my little siblings."
"Ratch' is sparked?" Darkstrike guessed. Megatronus nodded his helm. "I thought they couldn't 'cause of ole 'Hide's spark."
"Amma is having split-spark twins," said Megatronus. "They should be here in a joor."
"Well then, I'm sorry kid. I wish I could let ya go home, but I can't because of the law. I can let you visit on days you won't fight and they are always welcome here. How does that sound? Now let's get you inside and get some quarters? We can go over training in a few solar cycles when you get settled down some."
Megatronus nodded, not wanting to accept his fate, but did so. He tried to ignore that ache in his spark at not being with his mentor and guardians, but it eased at being able to see them. At least it was something.
