Hey, fairy tail fans, I'm back with the next chapter of a fairy tail re-told; sorry for the wait. I had some real-life issues I needed to deal with; everything's fine now. I should be able to fall back into line real soon. So, anyway, let's get started.

Last time on a fairy tail re-told!

Lucy: We managed to find our way to the royal city.

Happy: Aye, but we got captured by the royal city

Lucy: Something tells me I'm getting little time in this chapter.

Happy: It's finally my time to shine

Lucy, wait, what

Natsu and Wendy are dragged to a royal palace cell and forcibly thrown into a cell, landing with a thud. Natsu stood up and charged at the cell. Hughes, who smiled, "Where are the others?" Natsu shouted on the other side.

"Yeah," Wendy agreed, "where are our friends."

"Others," Hughes asked. "Oh, you mean your friends," he laughed as he smiled. "As for the cute blond bimbo, she's of no use to us," he smiled, "but the other two are wanted criminals," he chuckled a bit, "so they're all going to be executed."

"What?" Natsu growled as he pressed his head against the bar. "You lay even a finger on any of them," he spat. "I'll burn you to a pile of ashes," he shouted.

Extalia

"Man," Hughes teased Natsu, "are all earth land wizards as fearsome as you," he said

"They're going to execute them," Wendy muttered. "What about Happy and Carla," Wendy asked; fear was etched in her voice as Hughes shook his head in annoyance.

"The exceeds accomplished their mission," he explained, "so no need to worry about them." he then started laughing, "Man, I wish you could see your faces right now," he said. "I bet the little guys have received their reward and have a feast right as we speak."

"What mission," Wendy asked as Natsu continued to glare at him as Hughes looked at them; pure confusion was on his face as he smiled, "What are you having them do for you."

"Wait, you don't know."

Back in the city, guards had come in preparation to drain the lacrmia. One of the guards took notice of Edolas Gajeel wring down things on a notepad; soon, a group of guards had surrounded him. As he looked up, forcing a smile as the guard glared at him, "What are you doing here?" one shouted."

"Thanks for all your hard work," he said, looking at the guards who only looked at each other, confused at his sudden remark. "I'm just your average journalist doing a cover on the ceremony," he said, "Would you mind if I asked some questions."

"No comment," the guard told him, "now beat it."

"I see the king has guards stationed here," Edo Gajeel remarked, "It is safe to assume that there are some on the east and west sides."

"Get lost."

"Sorry for disturbing you then," Edo Gajeel claimed as he walked back; he noticed the earth land Gajeel.

"damn," Gajeel muttered, "what am I going to do" he muttered, "Those civilians are too close; they'll get caught up in the attack" he looked and noticed his counterpart, who was smiling at him.

Happy came to a strange bed; his mind was fuzzy. "Where are we," he asked; he looked over and saw Carla lying in the same bed as she sat up. "I don't think we've ever been here before," he said; he shook Carla, who lazily opened her eyes.

"Tomcat," she muttered, "where are we."

"I don't know," Happy muttered, "the last thing I remember is being knocked out."

[##Carla's Confession Theme ost.##]

Then it all flashed for Carla, her coming up with a map leading the group through the tunnel to the cave. Natsu, Lucy, Wendy's, and Lisanna are getting captured, then nothing. "No," Carla whispered, " I couldn't have"

"Carla," Happy muttered, "it's not your fault." he tried to cheer up, but it didn't work. "I'm sure it's just a coincidence they found us," he told her, "nothing more."

"I failed," Carla muttered. "I was supposed to protect Wendy," she was on the verge of tears. "I was supposed to protect her, and I failed her." Before either could continue, the door opened.

"Glitter meow," the person said, "Glitter meow," he said

"Ichiya," Happy muttered.

"Nice perfume," he told them. The exceed looked almost entirely like Ichiya aside from the more feline features.

"Sir Nichiya," another person said. He had an extremely long neck and was doing a fist pump for whatever reason. "I hear they've never been to Extalia before," he explained. "I don't think they've ever seen another exceed."

"My mistake," the man known as Nichiya said. "I apologize; my name is Nichiya, captain of the royal guard," he explained.

"My name is Nabby," the other said, "minister of state, congrats on finishing your mission."

"I know it's sudden," Nichiya said, "but the queen wants to see you."

"The queen," Happy asked as the pair left the room. Happy frowned at this as he looked at Carla. "Don't worry, leave everything to me. I promise I'll keep you safe." Nichiya and Nabby led the pair outside as Nichiya greeted two guards. "There are cats everywhere," Happy muttered.

"I bet you're excited," Nabby told them.

"I might be if I knew what was going on," Happy retorted as they went outside to see what they may say is a small village of many cats or what in their world may be called exceeds. They ran through the streets, bought food, and even had classes. Happy felt a bit overwhelmed. "There," Happy muttered, "all cats."

"Hey, look," someone called, "it's sir Nichiya."

"Meow," he said in greetings as they passed by

"Sir Nabby," another called out.

"Hey, look," someone called, "Is that them."

"Yeah," another said, "they completed their earth land mission."

Happy and Carla scouted closer to each other as a large crowd gathered around them; they felt out of place, like a fish out of water; they had never seen so many of their kind in one spot.

"There are so many cats," Happy muttered.

"I'm afraid you're wrong, my friend," Nabby explained. "We are exceed; we are far above the humans," he told Happy. "It's our job to guide them," he smiled, "and that beautiful sight before you is our homeland, Extalia."

"I never heard of you."

In the royal city, Edo Gajeel approached another guard who nodded at him as an imperial band marched up the plaza. "I see things are getting underway."

"Yes," the guard answered, " the kingdom will be more stable after this."

"We are on the eastern side of the plaza," Edo Gajeel asked, "so is it safe to assume that all sides are as heavily protected as this one."

"Well, no," the guard said, " the eastern and western sides don't have enough room," he said, "so no one would be hiding there," he explained, "Wait, don't put that in the article."

"What, me?" Edo Gajeel smiled at the man. "I would do no such thing," he said. "I wouldn't dream of slandering my kingdom," he explained.

"Good," the guard said. "I could get executed for this, ya know."

"Don't worry," Edo Gajeel told him, "your confidentiality will remain intact when this article is published. The kingdom won't have any clue it was you. "Later, as Edo Gajeel made his way through the crowd, he looked back to Gajeel as he tipped his hat, pointing to the plaza's south side as Gajeel smiled.

"I see," he mused, "well, here goes nothing."

In Extalia, Sir Nabby and Nichiya lead Happy and Carla through the palace as they explain their home and purpose to the two. "You see, in our world, humans are a foolish inferior species," he explained, "it's the queen's duty to guide them. She also decided who lives and who dies."

"She can do that: Happy asked.

"Yes," Nichiya told them, "she has a lovely perfume. meow"

"She also governs the humans in Earth land," Nabby continued, "She wouldn't want humans to grow too out of hand," he smiled, "so the queen eliminates them to help restore magic power to our world."

"Why does she decide who lives and who dies?" Happy questioned

"Well, she is a goddess," Nichiya told them gleefully.

"This mission," Carla spoke, catching Happy's attention. "I remember. It's all coming back to me," she said, which made Nabby and Nichiya look at each other, confused. "The queen chose me to help control the human population," Happy was about to speak, and Carl stopped him. "I was ordered," she muttered; she paused, choking on her breath. "I was ordered to kill the dragon slayer Wendy."

"What do you mean by that, Carla?" Happy all but shouted

"Don't," she started.

"No, what do you mean you were ordered to kill Wendy," Happy asked again till it dawned on him, "Wait, no," Happy fell to the ground. "My mission," he said, tears forming on his face. "My mission was to eliminate Natsu."

Carla could only nod at the reveal. "That's why I didn't want you to know the truth," she told him.

"I couldn't," Happy muttered as he stepped back.

"Get a hold of yourself, Tomcat," Carla told him. "Happy nor I carried out our missions and didn't even plan to do so," Carla shouted, "so why is everyone acting as if we have."

"Do you think it's amnesia," Nichiya asked

"There are countless side effects to overwriting," Nabby told him.

"Answer me, damn it," Carla shouted, getting their attention again.

"Sorry," Nabby told them, "let me explain. You saw, six years ago, the queen sent around one hundred exceed children to help better control the human population," Nabby told her, "but when the humans made anima, we were presented with a new opportunity, instead of killing the earth land wizards, we could simply turn them to magic power" Nabby explained as Carla. Happy looked in pure terror, "and it's well known that dragon slayers are the strongest of the earth land wizards."

"So, you were ordered to bring them here." Nichiya finished

Natsu had a look of pure horror as Hughes laughed at him. "That can't be right," Natsu muttered, "no way."

"We finally got our hands on you," Hughes boasted. "It's been so long that we began to think that you all were truly extinct," he laughed. "You're our source of endless magic power," he gushed. "It makes me anxious just thinking about it," he laughed, "and all we gotta do is suck it out."

"No," Carla said. "I couldn't," Carla muttered, finally breaking down.

In the royal city, Gajeel made his way to the front of the crown. "I gotta hurry," he muttered on the other side. Edo Gajeel smiled as he pulled something out.

"What's that," someone asked.

"Oh, just some fireworks," Edo Gajeel told him as he shot it into the sky, leaving the letter N; he smiled as Gajeel took note of this; it also caught the soldiers' attention. "Not enough, huh?" Edo Gajeel muttered, "Well, let's go all out." he shouted for more, which made it spell north.

Gajeel smiled, "Soldiers, I think that maybe some warning. There may be someone suspicious at the plaza's north end."

"We have fewer troops there," a guard shouted, "quick, we need to head over there immediately. Push the crowd back for their safety."

Gajeel smiled. "Now I can get to work," he said as he ditched his cloak, shocking the soldiers "{Iron dragon: club}" Gajeel shouted as he punched his way through the then leaped into the sky, pulling out his sword he slashed the giant lacrmia with all his might "ain't no stopping me" he shouted as a bright light shined over the palace.

Happy and Carla were both on the floor. The weight of the reveal had just happened and had them both paralyzed with dread; they betrayed their friends. Were they ever loyal? Did they even care for them, or was it all a lie to gain more power?

"Given your reactions, doing it remotely was a bad idea," Nabby said,

"but everything worked out okay," Nichiya told them, "The humans have been tasked with the magical conversion. They're way better at that sort of thing," Nichiya smiled, "so good job."

"I was supposed to protect her," Carla shouted, tears falling. "I did all of this to protect her."

"No," Nabby said, "your mission became to protect the dragon slayer. After your orders changed," he informed her, "If something happened to her, your mission would have failed.

"No!" Carla shouted

Happy was fuming. More emotions than he ever thought he had were flowing through him; his mind flashed to the day he was born, how Natsu and Lisanna both fought tooth and nail to hatch him, the time the three spent together, how everywhere he went in Magnolia, people seemed to love him even their most recent adventures up till now.

'Why am I named Happy?' a little happy asked.

'Oh, that's easy,' Lisanna told him as Natsu smiled behind her.

'Your magnolia's bluebird of Happiness,' they both told him.'

"Lisanna, you're spoiling him," Natsu shouted.

"Happy is my son, so I can give him as much fish as I want," Lisanna screamed.

"No," Happy said under his breath as he stood in front of Carla; his face was full of anger 'You're wrong," he told them. "Let's get this straight: We're not your puppets." Carla looked up as Happy forced a smile on his face. "My homeland is Magnolia. I don't work for you," he shouted, the memories of his friends flowing through him. "The love we feel for our family is stronger than you'll ever know."

"My name is Happy."

To be continued

It's safe to say Happy is not happy. Anyone, no, okay, I'll stop, promise. But come, at least give me that to try to lift the mood. The ending to this chapter is sort of on a somber yet uplifting note, anyway. Until next time.

Happy: we can't give up, Carla.

Gajeel: thank god you're back.

Happy: How long have you been here

Gajeel: Too long

Next time: fly to our friends!

Happy: I think Ima go

Gajeel: wait, come back.

Happy: Sorry out of time
