To say he's nervous is an understatement. Blaine feels like throwing up when he enters McKinley, alone, away from his friends. Somehow he finds his way to the principals office where he gets his books and schedule before a teacher picks him up to take him to his first class.
Kurt is tired when he comes to school with Finn. "Cheer up Kurt. I'm sure you'll hear from Blaine soon" Rachel says. "But what if something happened? Or if he forgot me?" the boy answers. "He won't forget you Kurt. Maybe he's just busy with moving" the girl says reasuringly. Kurt wants to protest but in this moment the door opens and the teacher comes in. With a boy. They never saw him before. A new student? He has dark brown curls and beautiful honey eyes.
The whole class is quiet, waiting for the teacher or the boy at the front to say something. Mr Burgin probably never saw his class that quiet and focused. He teaches history. Some students usually sleep in class, some read or study for other subjects, some just don't go and the rest chats with their friends.
"Good morning class" Mr Burgin says after clearing his throat "Please welcome our new student Blaine Anderson. Blaine why don't you sit down next to Anthony here?". The new kid nods and sits down next to the boy who looked up at the mention of his name. He was reading under the table. He seems nice Blaine thinks. "Okay. Who of you can tell Blaine what we talked about last week and fill him in?" the teacher starts class.
When Kurt heard the name Blaine Anderson his jaw dropped. His and Finns and Rachels. If Sam and most likely all New Directions had history their jaws would've dropped too. "Is it really him?" Finn asks his brother over Rachels head. Kurt shrugs "I don't know. Maybe it's a common name but he mentioned to have curls. Maybe he wears the bracelet I gave him if yes I'd be able to recognize him if I see his wrists. I'll talk to him in our first break and if it's not him I'm just a nice student who wants to welcome him". "That's good" Rachel says and looks at the new boy, trying to see if he wears a bracelet.
Then finally it's time for the break. Kurt says goodbye to his frineds because he doesn't share his next classes until lunch with them and goes out to search for the new boy. He isn't sure if he imagined it or not but when the new kid walked out Kurt might saw the bracelet.
"Blaine Anderson" Kurt days when he finally spots the boy in the hallways. "That's me" Blaine answers and turns around to the person who called him. High voice and when he sees him chestnut brown hair and eyes like the ocean. "You have more curls than I thought" Kurt says and laughs a little at the other boys confused look "And you are?". Kurt could say his name and make it easy for Blaine but he wants to say it differently "Let me help you. One day I swear. One day we'll see each other and I will hug you and listen to you ranting about all the things you hate about your dad".
No way! Blaine thinks. He only told two persons about his dad Wes and- "Kurt" Blaine mumbles astonished "Kurt Hummel". The only other person he talked to about his dad and the only person who said this in one of his letters. "Live and in person" Kurt says and laughs. "I can't believe it. It's really you" Blaine says and finally hugs the other boy tightly. Kurt hugs him back and they stay like this for a while.
When they step back again Blaine says "I told you that some days I can't even control my curls. So yeah I have a lot 'em". They both laugh on that until Kurt says "I like them". If he could he would've ruffle through Blaines hair. "Do you want to sit with me and my friends at lunch? And maybe after school we can grab a coffee or so" Kurt proposes and the curly haired boy nods "Sure. I just need to text my mom that she doesn't has to pick me up".
"I can show you the school and maybe tomorrow the town if you want" Kurt says and Blaine answers "I would love too. Thank you". Then he looks at the time "I have to go to my next class". "What do oyu have now?" Kurt asks and he knows alone by the grimace Blaine makes what he has. "Maths" Blaine sighs "I don't even know where the room is". "Come. I'll show you. I have french a few rooms next to yours" Kurt says and leads the way.
While he does he says "Tell me how math went later and if you neex help we can arrange that. Mike also gets straight A's. He's in glee with me. About that. Do you want to audition and join?". "Dumb question. Of course" Blaine says with a wide smile. "Okay. I would've skipped glee for a coffee with you but if you want you can come with me and we go to Lima Beans after" Kurt says.
"Here it is. You have maths with Quinn. She's also in Glee with me. Maybe she can help you find your way to-" he stops to look at Blaines schedule "Biology". He smiles and gives it back to Blaine "I pick you up from there and take you to the cafeteria". "Thank you Kurt" Blaine can't get enough of saying his name, of actually talking to him not just writing "You're a life saver. Honestly". "The girl with the blond hair and cheerio uniform in the second row is Quinn. Tell her you're new and that Kurt told you to go to her" Kurt answers and quickly waves Blaine goodbye because he needs to get to french and the teacher just walked into the room. Blaine also has maths with Santana but Blaine is new and yes Kurt told him about the latina since she was his date at Burts and Carols wedding but Kurt doesn't want to shock Blaine.
Blaine smiles after Kurt and then goes to the girl, Quinn, and sits down next to her. "Hey. You're Quinn right? Kurt said you could help me find the biology room after maths" Blaine says "I'm Blaine Anderson by the way". "Blaine" Quinn repeats surprised but with a knowing smile on her lips "Yes I'm Quinn Fabray. Do you need my help after biology too? I can show you the cafeteria" . "Q who's the hobbit sitting on my chair?" a girl with black hair and cheerios uniform asks. "You can sit on my other side Santana. This-" Quinn looks to Blaine "is Blaine Anderson. Kurt said I could show him the way to biology class after". There it is again. This smile. Do the girls know something he doesn't? Maybe he can ask Kurt later.
After math class Quinn quickly shows Blaine the way to biology where he waves her goodbye and sits down. He sighs and takes all his stuff out. He hates maths but he's also not the biggest fan of biology. While unpacking his eyes focus on his bracelet again. He always wears it but suddenly it feels like it means so much more. He noticed when they hugged that Kurt wears his too and it warmed his heart.
"Biology isn't that bad. Mrs Ling is pretty cool" a tall boy with brown hair says and sits down next to him. He saw him in literature before. He sat with Kurt and another girl. "I'm Finn. Kurts brother. I saw how he talked to you in the hallway earlier" he introduces and holds his hadn out for Blaine to shake. Blaine smiles and shakes Finns hand "Blaine. Kurt talked a lot about you in his letters". "He talks about you a lot too you know?" Finn says and laughs "Should I take you to the cafeteria after class?". "No thanks. Kurt said he'll pick me up" Blaine answers and smiles. He and Finn talk a bit more about the school day, teachers and so on until Mrs Ling comes in and starts with the lessons.
Biology wasn't that bad but there are still way better subjects. Blaine packs his stuff away and goes out with Finn where Kurt already waits. "Hey you two" he greets "How was class?". "Okay" Blaine answers while Finn says "As always". "Rachel comes a bit later to lunch. Somethign she and Mercedes still have to do" Kurt explains and walks in direction of the cafeteria. Blaine is close behind the brothers, looking to his left and right and taking everything around him in.
Ten minutes after the group of three sits down in the cafeteria Mercedes and Rachel come in too and Kurt introduces Blaine to his friends, the New Directions. Everyone greets Blaine who immediatly feels accepted and welcome. It's nice here he thinks. They all spend lunch break chatting and eating, getting to know each other a little better.
The day passes just like that. When Kurt has the same class as Blaine they go together and sit down next to each other and if not he finds someone to prevent Blaine from getting lost.
