Warning : see chapter 1

January 16, 2007

The Apollo had staged a massive attack on the Replicators' planet, destroying their spaceships. The latter responded by launching a satellite launching a red ray towards the city of Atlantis. Elizabeth connected to the city intercom, transmitting an important message. Kendra did breathing exercises with Jennifer Keller, the head doctor. Jennifer released the pressure by blowing gently.

"That's very good, it's important to regulate your breathing in order to ease the tension in your body" Kendra complimented him.

"Thank you, I have to say I'm not able to sleep very well at the moment. Hopefully these exercises help me relax" says Jennifer.

"Don't hesitate to come by if you ever need me," says the assistant.

"Are you saying that because I did your last ultrasound ?" asks Keller.

"No, you are a good doctor and a good friend," Kendra replies.

"Thank you, Kendra. It's good to feel included," assures Jennifer.

"Notice to all personnel, we are going to attempt a complete immersion of the city. This will cause tremors, so I advise you to secure your equipment and stay in the sectors which have assigned you" declares Weir.

Kendra exchanged a perplexed look with Doctor Keller. A few seconds later, the tremors started. Keller frowned at this maneuver. The two women saw the city sinking into the Lantian ocean, the shield protected them from the ray.

They moved closer to the window. They have a glimpse of the depths. Kendra smiled, impression because this maneuver. Jennifer looked at her out of the corner of her eye. Kendra turned her head. They looked into each other's eyes for a whole minute.

"Doctor Keller, we want you in the infirmary" declares a nurse.

"I'm coming" warns the doctor.

Keller lowers his head as she steps back from the assistant. Kendra forced a smile as she turned to face her.

"I have to go," adds Keller.

"I understand, duty calls you. We will resume the session another time" assures Kendra.

The doctor left. Kendra blushed slightly. She chases away this feeling that she had already felt with Ronon. The assistant left the office and headed towards the control room. She found Sheppard's team on the balcony. They looked at the Lantian waters.

"I would need scientific knowledge," assures Ronon.

Kendra laughed at this remark. John frowned, perplexed.

"To do what ?" asks the colonel.

Ronon looked at him.

"I don't feel very useful in this kind of situation," he confides. "If it's about going into battle, I'm there," he adds.

Kendra stood aside, looking at the beam of light.

"But faced with a laser that threatens our city, I feel helpless" concludes the warrior.

"This is why we are a team. Like the Fantastic Four," John mentions.

Ronon and Teyla looked at him questioningly.

"Comic book heroes who fight crime together," he says.

He distributed roles to his teammates based on the heroes he had just introduced.

"What I mean is we are a good team. Everyone puts their talent at the service of the other," explains the colonel.

Ronon smiled while Teyla looked questioning.

"I'm going to go wherever Mckay has it" declares the colonel.

He quickly left, leaving them. Mckay and Zelenka thought about the question for many minutes. Subsequently, John and Rodney attempted to use the drilling platform, without success.

The plan to orient an asteroid was put into place. Lorne and his men through their F302 moved the asteroid delicately. The city of Atlantis was going to fly away again. The intercom was connected a second time.

"Can I have your attention ? As you know, we have many problems. The truth is that we have no one to get us to safety. The replicators will continue without tracking us. In the next two hours, we let's fire up the star engines and blast off into space," Elizabeth says.

Colonel Ellis and Doctor Weir settled their scores through open discussion. John was slightly stressed about running an entire city.

Kendra crossed her arms as she stayed with Ronon and Teyla. The Satedian leaned against a control console while Teyla clutched another control panel. Kendra was sitting next to Ronon.

John focused. Rodney used a control console with his computer.

"Are we waiting for your agreement, Zelenka ?" Rodney asked.

"We have the green light. I have cut off unnecessary programs," replies the scientist.

"Are you ready, Sheppard ?" Mckay asked.

"Yes" assures the colonel.

"Okay, Major, approach the asteroid, as slowly as possible," Rodney orders.

"Good reception," Lorne agrees.

The asteroid was released towards the city.

There was a tremor. The city slowly recovered. The beam ceased as the city returned to the surface. The star engines have been ignited.

"The flight height is not enough," says Rodney.

"We lack power!" Sheppard shouts.

"What did you do ?!" asks the scientist.

"That's it, accuse me" adds John, offended.

"Lower the shield," Weir orders.

"We're going to be in space. If you want to survive, we need the shield" Mckay replies.

"We need this energy to fly. You will reactivate it at 5000 meters" maintains John.

"Understood" Rodney obeys.

He complied, lowering the shield.

"Give your best !" encourage the scientist.

The city slowly took off. The shaking stopped.

"That's it, we're flying" Rodney whispers with joy.

A big smile adorns Doctor Weir's lips. She moved to a window to see the work being done. Teyla and Ronon moved around, staying near the consoles.

An alarm sounded.

"We are at 5,000 meters, we put the shield back on" declares Mckay.

He tapped on the control console. The shield slowly recovered as the beam had almost finished destroying the asteroid. The ray continued its path on the city even though the shield was not finished. The beam hit the control room head on, the windows shattered, impacting the staff. Elizabeth was thrown backwards.

Ronon and Teyla fell backwards while Kendra landed with her head against a console. Photos of electricity occurred on the equipment. John opened a hyperspace window by importing the city.

John stood up realizing he had succeeded.

It is relieved by calling the control room. An expected silence. He ran towards the control room. The doors opened as a medical team treated the injured. It's Doctor Keller.

"What happened ?" asks the colonel.

"The beam hit the tower before the shield was put back in place," the doctor replies.

John saw Elizabeth being taken away by a vicar. John went upstairs, surveying the damage. Ronon was sitting with a glass planted in her arm. John saw Kendra lying on her side, blood flowing from her stomach. Fear filled Ronon's eyes as Teyla struggled to get up, just like Rodney.

John leaned over her seeing a cut on her head. He felt her pulse, finding that she was still alive. He tore a sleeve off his coat, pressing on the wound in his stomach.

"Please, we need help" John says with a frown.

Ronon crawled over to the young woman, Teyla moved towards Rodney with growing concern.

A second medical team arrived. Kendra was carried away on a stretcher. Ronon was treated by a nurse. John walked over to Teyla and Rodney.

"Are you doing well ?" asked the colonel.

Suddenly, the city emerged from hyperspace. Rodney shows concern about this new problem. He checked his still working computer.

"We have a big problem," he declares with anguish.
