"the sting of betrayal still sits upon my tongue," Irene growled. "What you and your lot put our kind through, the path you forced our world to go down," she growled. "So, if it means killing you and the pathetic dragonborn who sides with Ishgar," a dark grin grew on her face, "I'll gladly take it, for I, Irene, will have my kingdom back."
"interesting," Acnologia smiled. "the kingdom of Dragnorf," he laughed. "So that's what his majesty promised you, Mother; you're a fool if you think he will live up to that promise."
"the Dragonborn will be mine," Irene laughed. "They will be the heralds of my new kingdom, unlike those former Dragons of ISghar who watched as the world burned; they will create a new world," she laughed. "A dragon legacy that will live on for ages. But his majesty sees this as a game," Irene laughed, "so I need him to end this war as quickly as possible and return the Dragonborn to their rightful place."
"what are you" Acnologia stopped as Irene slammed her staff on the ground. "What? The entire ground" he looked around as a bright red light shined. "What are you doing."
"I've enchanted the very ground beneath us, and it spreads across the entire kingdom," Irene explained, her dark grin never leaving her. "Until we meet again, my wayward child, " Acnologia glared at her. "the next time we meet, you will feel the force of an empire and the wrath of the dragons you slayed" Across the country, everyone was stopped by the bright red light that went around them as the blinding light shined from the ground.
"curse you," Acnologia shouted.
"your majesty, what is this" Invel shouted.
"Irene, have you used that spell" Zeref whispered.
"{Universe one}"
After the red light faded, Mavis' vision cleared, and she rubbed her eyes. She muttered to herself, "What was that?" Concerned, she called out to her colleagues, "Laki, do you see anything on the scanner?" but received no response. Looking around, she noticed she was alone in the fairy pub, with food and drink spilled everywhere, and their maps and tools left abandoned. She called out again, "Cana, Macao, Max, Romeo," but there was still no answer. Feeling uneasy, she stepped back and asked herself, "What is going on?"
"Irene, you always have to be the rebellious one," a voice called, making Mavis jump as she turned to see Zeref smiling at a table. "Why hello, my dear sweet Mavis." Zeref straightened himself out, picking up a spilled drink. "I'm sorry, but you know all too well about rebellious children."
"Zeref," Mavis muttered, "so you're here now; what did you do."
"I did nothing," Zeref laughed. "This was the work of one my Spriggan Irne Belserion; she is a hard one to keep under watch," he muttered. "So, Mavis"
"mind telling me how you're still alive."
The final chapters, part III: Last Stand
Natsu sat up, looking around. "What happened? Where are we."
"umm, Natsu," a voice called, "could you get off me" Natsu looked down to see he was sitting on top of Lucy, who in turn was sitting on top of Meredy, who in turn was sitting on top of Carla.
"wait, Natsu, Lucy," Meredy asked. "When did you guys get here" She looked around. "Wait, where is here."
"how about we get off each other first," Carla asked.
"Oh, sorry," Natsu muttered as they all sat up. "Where is August and Mest" h looked down "he's injured, so I hope he's okay."
"Natsu, I think August" Lucy looked around. "I don't think Mest was getting up from that."
"why were you guys meeting with the wizard king," Meredy asked. "That's odd," she stood up. "Everything smells different."
"yeah," Natsu muttered.
Elsewhere Gray and Erza looked around in confusion. "Where are we," Gray asked.
"Meredy," Rossello asked, "where are you hiding."
"We were right next to her, right," Erza asked.
"Yeah," Rossello answered. "Then there was a bright red light."
"I hear a voice-over here, "a voice called as Juvia and Happy ran to where they were. "Gray darling, is that you" Juvia smiled as she ran and hugged him. "What are you doing here," she asked. "And have you seen Natsu and Lucy?"
"Aye," Happy muttered. "They were right next to us, then suddenly poof," Happy said.
"same as us," Rossello muttered. "What happened."
"No idea," Erza said. "We should split up; we can find them faster that way."
"Gray," Wendy shouted. "Erza," she looked back to see Lily sitting against a rock. "Hey bud, you're all right."
"Gajeel," Lily looked away, "he."
"is going to be fine," Wendy told him as she tugged on her bracelet. "Sensei gave us these to protect us," she smiled at her friend "The moment before Bloodman would have killed him, she would have pulled him away," she reassured him "he's fine but probably passed out somewhere."
"I'll believe it when I see him," Lily told her as he stood up, "but we need to find out where we are first."
"reminds me of that job in Desierto," Wendy laughed, "when we got separated from that saraband."
"you and I remember that job very differently," Lily laughed. "good times."
"I haven't thought about those seven years in a while," Wendy chuckled. "Come on; we aren't going to find anyone standing around here."
"got that right," Lily nodded as he activated his wings, picking her up so they could get an ariel view of the area. "Can your nose smell anything?"
"everything mixed up; I'm smelling Bosco and some Shirotsume, too" Wendy scratched her head. "This is very weird."
"huh, when did you guys get here," Kinana asked.
"We were up north, weren't we," Jet asked.
"When did we get outside," Macao asked. "Laki, have you got that thing working," Macao said. How did we get here, and how did Kinana, Jet, Droy, and Levy get here with us."
"Hold your horses, old man," Laki shouted. "this thing is on the fritz." she looked it over. "It's almost like someone picked up Fiore like a puzzle piece and mixed it around."
"Levy are you okay," Droy asked. Levy just shook her head, hugging her knees.
"What happened," Wakaba asked.
"We lost Gajeel," Kinana muttered. "One of the twelve was a sore loser."
"Guys, we have a problem," Romeo shouted. "Enemy forces are coming from the south."
"damn it," Kinana muttered. "Everyone get ready."
"Right
"August, are you all right," Brandish asked. "I managed to compress your wound, so that should help" She looked away, thinking about everything that had happened, but what perplexed her was how they ended up here. "What did you do."
"I did nothing," August told her. "This is Irene's work; she cast a spell that compressed the land and moved everyone to random locations" He rubbed his hand through his beard "Universe one, she most likely did that to move his majesty closer to Fairy heart and Acnologia far away" he looked around "it's the only reason she would cast such a spell."
"I had no idea she was so powerful," Brandish muttered, "she must want this war to end soon."
"Perhaps," August muttered as he faced her, "but there still is the matter of where your loyalties lie."
"I told you," Brandish said
"Are you," August said, "because there's something more, you decided to speak on their behalf, and I would like to know why," he demanded, "so will you tell me, or should I assume you're a traitor."
"I am not disloyal," Brandish assured him. "I will always remain faithful to his majesty. However, there is a complicated history between the blonde girl, her mother, and my own family," she admitted, briefly averting her gaze. "Here's what I propose: spare Lucy Heartfilia's life, and I will pledge to follow his majesty's will with the same unwavering loyalty as you do." August met her gaze, and she paused momentarily before finishing her request. "that's my plea."
"eternally loyal for the life of one," August muttered. "Very well," he stood up. "I will overlook your misjudgment, but from here on out, I expect dedication from you, Brandish."
"yes, sir," Brandihs muttered.
Zeref laughed as he stood up. "you know why I'm here" Zeref looked at Mavis, adopting an evil grin, "But how I got here, that is another matter. One of my spriggan cast a spell called universe one, which shrunk Fiore to one-tenth of its original size," Zeref explained.
"what," Mavis asked, "to do what increases classes between our forces."
"ah, that tactical mind," Zeref shook his head. "If anything, Irene just wants this conflict to end," he smiled. "Of course, she most likely picked my location, but every one of our forces was scattered to the winds."
[##Fiore kingdom at war ost##]
Irene laughed as she sat on the throne. "My, that went better than expected, especially considering it was my first try" She looked around as the hungry wolf knights and Arcadios stood before Toma and Hisui, as she gave an evil grin. "I'm sorry I seem to have lost my way. Would you mind telling me where in Ishgar I've ended up?"
"that woman," Toma muttered. "Where did she come from."
"your majesty, your highness, get back," Arcadios said.
"let us deal with this trespasser," Kama said.
"my, how rude," Irene shook her head. "Don't tell me my home country has lost manners in the years I've been gone."
"stand down," Arcadios shouted. "We have you surrounded."
Irene chuckled, sensing the aroma with her magical powers flaring up after years of inactivity. She relished the opportunity to flex her magical muscles, and Universe One was a good start. Although a small part of her hoped the Dragonborn would appear, she was content with enjoying some quick amusement before taking on the real challenges. Additionally, she had to attend to that other matter. Irene glanced around the room and whispered, "Your fear," as everyone prepared themselves. Uosuke soon fell to the ground, coughing up blood after getting struck in the chest. A wicked smirk graced Irene's lips as she observed her surroundings. "Oh, I'm surrounded, all right." she tapped her staff on the ground.
"by dead men."
"hey guys," Natsu muttered. "Were Mercuries and Cardia Cathedral that close," he asked, pointing to the two buildings, one that was known for being the centerpiece of Magnolia and the other capital of FIore and the flower palace
"No, they're supposed to be hundreds of miles from each other," Lucy shouted.
"What could this mean," Carla asked. "why are these locations placed here, and why like this" she wondered.
"Maybe that red light had something to do with it," Meredy suggested. "It shined, then suddenly we were all together even though we were miles apart, then locations that are normally nowhere near each other are next to each other" She scratched her chin. "Maybe the enemy did this to split us all up."
"randomized fighting," Natsu asked. "That sounds overly complicated."
"but smart they could pick off in smaller groups," Lucy reasoned. "Come on, let's check things out."
"Right"
"Hey guys, where are you," Cana asked. "Hello"
"Cana," a voice called as Cana turned to see her father approaching her. "How are you, baby girl."
"god damn it, Dad stop it" Cana shouted. "What are you doing here."
"We could ask you the same thing" The pair stopped as Anna and Riana approached them. "Do you have any idea what happened?" Anna asked. "One second, we were underground recovering and planning what we should do about August; now we're here," she asked. "Looking around, that magic felt familiar," she whispered, "like an enchantment."
"so what? Someone picked us all up and shuffled us around randomly," Cana asked.
"seeing as you are here and not in Magnolia," Anna confirmed, "that and, well, nothing looks as I remember it" She looked around. "It reminds me of my time," she muttered, "four hundred years ago."
"Speaking of which," Cana said as she pushed Gildarts away. "I want to ask you what exactly the plan on separating Natsu and," she looked between the other two, "you know what? Screw it? What is the plan for separating Natsu and E.N.D."
"wait, what," Gildarts asked.
"that," Anna asked. "I have the dispelling magic for that," Anna confirmed, "but first, we need to find that book."
"I figured you could teach it to someone else," Cana said. Anna looked away. "Look, I understand what Natsu means to you, but you can trust me," she said.
"It's not that, Cana," Anna told her. "To spare Natsu's life, I must exchange something of equal value."
"wait, you are going to" Cana's eyes widened in horror. "You realize you can't do that to them, right" she shouted, "you're literally the only paternal figure from their past that's still alive."
"you're going to die," Riana asked.
"it's the only way," Anna said. "Natsu's mere existence breaks the balance of life and death, and the gods will not be satisfied unless that toll is paid, so either he must die, or someone must take his place."
"wait, so Natsu is a demon from the books of Zeref," Riana asked, "you can't just gloss over that."
"It's a long story," Anna said. "Just know that I need to get the book back to make the trade," she said. "If not, once Zeref dies, Natsu will die as well; I promised I would not let that happen, no matter the cost."
"I understand," Gildarts muttered.
"what" Cana shouted, "Dad, you can't be serious."
"Cana, you'll understand one day when you get kids of your own, whether they're your blood or adopted," Gildarts smiled. "But if it were you, I know I would make that choice." he smiled at her, "without hesitation."
"It's not fair," Cana shouted. "Why"
"I have made my decision," Anna sighed. "I know that my death will hurt them. Bring up memories of the past, but" she smiled, "I know they'll be all right cause they have friends like you, my decedent Lucy, and once more, I have lived a long, fruitful life. Natsu has barely begun to discover his" she laughed "it's all right."
"Have you told them this," Riana asked?
"no," Anna whispered, "Not yet; with everything going on, I didn't want to burden them with the knowledge that this conflict would spell my end, and a part of me had hoped we would be able to deal with Zeref after Acnologia" she laughed, "but I guess things ever hardly work out the way we want them."
"wait, couldn't you just use Zeref," Cana asked.
"it must be a willing trade, Cana," Anna explained. "Believe me, if that were possible, I would do it without hesitation simply so I Could see the look on his face" There was a hint of anger in her voice. "But he is also the caster of the magic so I am unsure how that would affect the spell, even so Zeref" Anna froze she knew well that Zeref was counting on Natsu to die with him "this si something I must do, its my choice"
"so, there is no other way," Cana muttered.
"no," Anna confirmed. "Trust me, I wish there were," she looked to the night sky, "but maybe it's better this way."
Gajeel coughed as he stood up, going to a nearby stream and drinking water. "What the hell," he muttered. "Feels like Tuesday," he muttered. "Am I dead?" he asked as he looked around. A bright light shined before him as he started to follow him. "Hey you," Gajeel shouted. "Am I hell?"
"how rude, you see me and assume you are in hell," a voice shouted. "It gets hot here, but it's not that bad."
"wait, I know that voice," Gajeel whispered.
"hey Gajeel, been a while," Zera smiled as she appeared before him. "Mavis has finally been freed from the lacrmia. Now I can speak with all of you freely" She smiled warmly.
"so, what are you gonna guide me to heaven or something," Gajeel asked
"your alive, dumbass," Zera told him.
"what? How" Gajeel shouted
"Can I see," Zera asked as she overlooked a ring on his finger. "Made from dragon scales, and it appears to have a protection spell on it" She waved over his arm. "And a direct line it appears that the caster had placed on you; it allows them to travel to you, and they can also transport you to them" Zera's eyes lit up with amazement. "This must be ancient magic; I've never seen something like this."
"Sensei must have put this on me," Gajeel muttered, "So, is she here."
"no," Zera said, "while you were getting yourself killed, someone changed the landscape, so while you were in transport, you were moved."
"oh, that's lucky; she won't bite my head off," Gajeel laughed. He then remembered what happened after his fight with Bloodman. Blushing, realizing he had admitted his feelings to Levy, "crap," he growled as he looked around. "Where are we."
"you're on Tenrou Island," Zera smiled, "Well, it's not an Island anymore. It's connected to the mainland now."
"you mentioned Mavis woke up," Gajeel asked.
"yeah, that's why I can appear to you now," Zera said, "or magic power is connected. Think of it like halves of a whole." she sighed. "I was about to make my timely appearance to see what was going on, then this happened." she sighed, "and I have a feeling that Mavis ended up somewhere she shouldn't have"?
"so, what's the plan," Gajeel asked.
"Tenrou Island is now connected to the mainland," Zera smiled, "and Fiore is now considerably smaller, so I can spread my roots all over Fiore" She snapped her fingers as the Tenrou tree started to glow. "I can use it to find Mavis and hopefully contact the member's fairy tail," she sighed, "it's our only shot."
"right," Gajeel nodded.
"so, umm, any ideas about that," Lucy asked, "why are Cardia Cathedral and Mercurius right next to each other."
"looks like we're in two different cities," Natsu muttered.
"I don't see Magnolia from up here," Carla said.
"wait, is that" a voice called. "Natsu, Lucy, Meredy" The group turned to see Wendy and Lily approaching them. "What going on, you guys" she smiled.
"I think I heard Wendy's voice," another shouted. Mira and Laxus appeared from the woodwork. "Hey, look, it's Natsu and the others."
"voices," Gray muttered as he and his group came from the side of Cardia Cathedral. "Oh, hey, guys."
"Natsu," Happy cheered
"Meredy," Rossello also cheered as they tackled their friends.
"What happened to your face," Erza asked, concerned as she looked him over. "You have a scar."
"It's fine," Natsu muttered as he moved her hand away, "but what happened to you."
"I fought with one of the spriggan," Erza explained. "Do you know where we are?"
"Nah," Natsu told her, "I think we're lost."
"again," Juvia muttered, "what happened to Mest."
Laxus then walked up with Mest in his arms "he didn't make it," Laxus muttered. "Whatever hit him drained all his magic power," he growled. "Whoever did this is going to pay."
"August," Lucy whispered, "If not for Natsu, the rest of us might be dead as well."
"you guys ran into that monster; with a wave of his hand, he created a spell that left the other wizard saints, and me indisposed. We would be dead if not for Gildarts," Laxus asked. He clenched his jaw.
"Juvia's never felt such power before" Juvia looked at the ground as she looked at Mest "before we even knew what was happening Mest was killed" s
"We should place him in the cathedral while we're nearby," Laxus said, "we can come back for him once everything is over."
"Right," everyone muttered.
"Natsu," Wendy muttered, grabbing his hand, "you think we can get out of this one."
"Not sure, kid," Natsu looked up. "I do know that we need to beat Zeref," he growled, "It's the only way to end this once and for all."

As Irene stood amidst the aftermath of the battle, Arcadios fell to the ground. The walls were stained with blood, and nearly every soldier in the room had been defeated or killed by her. In disbelief, Arcadios muttered, "She defeated all of us." Kamika was injured, having lost an arm to Irene's wooden staff. Meanwhile, Irene stood at the center, pushing Neppa, who was unconscious, to the ground and stepping over him. "Your Majesty, you must flee," groaned Arcadios before he, too, lost consciousness.
"Please," Toma muttered, "please take my life, but spare my daughter," Irene said nothing as she glared at the pair, a moment of clarity coming over her before anger flashed through her heart, a feeling that she had long thought repressed. "She's my only daughter, so please, if you must do whatever you want, with me," he screamed behind them. Kama stood up, covered in blood.
"you killed one of my men and injured two of them," he growled. as he rushed at her. "I will take your" he was stopped when Irene turned around, walking past him as if it didn't even matter as she went to the window, Kama's mask fell off his scyths shattering to pieces as he fell to the ground, his head having been cut clean off.
"head," Irene finished as she peered out. "Oh my, there you are, my Dragonborn, well, three of you" She placed an eye above her, seeing the fairy tail on the other side of Cardia Cathedral 'what to do" She looked over, noticing that the group could see her. "Well, if I attack, no, they'll expect it, and that red hair' Irene shook her head. "No, it couldn't be all in one place. What are the odds, well considering the circumstances, very small but still, "the smile on her face faded as she looked at Erza, who seemed mesmerized by her eye magic, making Irene back up in shock 'I guess I'll leave you three unattended for now she turned to leave "lets me see what my little ones are up to"

"We aren't out of the woods yet," Macao shouted.
"don't worry, I got you guys," Jet called. "You ready, Droy."
"you bet," Droy shouted. "Hey Levy, come on, let's go."
"your right," Levy muttered. "Come on, let's go," she screamed. "This is for Gajeel," she screamed {solid script: iron}" shouted.
"yeah, that's right," Jet shouted. "You can't stop team shadow gear," he called before he tripped down. "What this."
"Hey, it's all white and sticky," Droy shouted, "it's gross."
"Man, these guys are weak," Juliet laughed.
"The Irene division is here," Heine shouted.
"it's Juliet and Heine, therein for it now."
"damn, we need to get back to Magnolia," Macao shouted.
"True, but I have no idea where we are," Laki shouted.
"Hey, fairy tail, are you out there? Please respond," a voice called. "Please, is anyone in fairy tail out there? Natsu, Mira, and Erza sound off chosen son, chosen daughter."
"what's that," Kinana asked. "It's like a voice is inside my head.
"Zera," Natsu and Mira's voices called out, "Your back."
"Zera," Laki asked. "Wasn't she the girl from the Island?
"Look, I'm not sure if you're getting this; I'm straining myself as it is, but I figured out where Mavis is, and she's in trouble. You need to head north Zeref has taken the fairy pub."
"north" Gray asked.
"I know Mavis is like a mother to all of you, and you need to get to her," he explained d. "I'm spreading my influence all over the land so I can guide you back to where the pub is," she explained, "But you need to hurry no telling how the Alvarez army will react to this; this spell divided them as well, but it won't be too long before they regroup."
"Alright, we need to move," Natsu called out.
"Don't worry about your allies," Zera said again. "While they can hear me, I still want to make sure we have enough, so I'll send echoes to find them," Zera explained.
"you can do that," Gajeel asked.
"Gajeel," Levy whispered, "he's alive" She smiled "he's okay."
"Gajeel," Lily shouted. "Glad to know your all right."
"yeah, sorry about that," Gajeel laughed.
"No time for this. Get moving," Zera shouted.
"All right."
"so, we should get moving," Kinana said when she grabbed Laki, jumping away as Juliet and Heine attacked "damn it, you guys get going."
"But," Romeo shouted,
"go now," Kinana called. "You should you too."
"no, I'll help you out. You'll need my help with these two," Laki shouted.
"so, they think they can take us," Heine laughed.
"This should be fun," Juliet laughed.
"you heard that voice, right," Gildarts asked.
"yeah, Dad, I heard it," Cana said.
"Good, I'm not crazy," Gildarts muttered.
"So, you expect us to go north because a voice inside your head said so," a voice shouted. They all turned to see Elfman walking with Yukino, Minerva, Lector, and Frosh.
"Hey, it's Minerva," Cana shouted, "and Elfman" She smiled. "How are you, buddy?"
"doing great," Elfman said, "but Mavis is in trouble."
"yeah, I heard," Cana winked. "Look traveling with my dad and a couple of wizard saints."
"oh wow, you're the guy they have to split Magnolia in half for," Yukino muttered.
"they what," Anna and Riana asked.
"oh yeah, I remember that," Lector laughed, "Man, you don't see that .every day."
"you guys heading north," Elfman asked.
"That's what Zera told us to do," Cana said.
"umm Elfman, if you don't mind, who is Zera," Yukino asked.
"no offense, but trusting a voice you hear in your head is not very comforting," Minerva said.
"Isn't she the friend of your master who died," Anna asked.
"yeah," Elfman said, "but seeing as she's communicating with us, her power is fully back that or Tenrou Island changed locations," he sighed. "The long and short of it's she was the first fairy after she died, her magic power merged with Mavis, she's pure magic power. While she may not be as powerful as the fairy heart, she can still be useful," he looked around. "Come on this way."
"right behind ya," Cana said. "Fairy tails are going to need our help."
"their serious," Minerva muttered.
"with everything at stake, you can see why," Anna told her as she followed them.
"I wonder where Rogue is," Frosh muttered. "I miss him."
"Well, the voice said it would find fairy tail allies," Lector said, "so he might end up at the battlefield.
"hey, who's that," Cana asked as the person walked out.
"Erick, Richard, is that you" It was Sorano of the Oracion Seis
"Sorano," Yukino whispered as Sorano froze where she stood before quickly turning around and disappearing into the forest again. "Wait, sister," Yukino shouted as she ran after
"wait a sec, that's her sister," Minerva muttered.
"Yukino" Lector shouted "come back
"That happened"

"how do you like this" Juliet shouted. "It's nice and sticky," she screamed.
"Damn, what kind of acid is this" Laki muttered.
"get ready, Laki," Kinana shouted "{poison devils: blade rush}," she shouted as she created a wave of poison. Laki jumped up.
"{wood make: The Distance between the Two is Forever}," Laki shouted as Juliet and Heine got blown back.
"wow, these two are good," Heine laughed.
"I know" Juliet "shall we."
"yes, let's," Heine shouted as she shot her hands, grabbing Laki by her leg and throwing her to the ground before shooting it up with lighting.
"oh no, Laki," Kinana managed out before getting kicked in the stomach. She flew back as Juliet laughed.
"Man, these guys are pushovers," Juliet laughed.
"they're stronger than I thought they would be," Kinana muttered.
"yeah," Laki muttered, "but we're stronger."
"right," Kinana smiled as her eyes flashed emerald green, and dark red markings appeared on her body. "The time for holding back has passed," she smiled as her hair started to stand up. "Now die," she screamed as she rushed past them.
"what" Heine shouted. "Where did this power come from."
"she's a demon slayer," Juliet smiled. "Know I know who that is. She's the student of the she-devil."
"yeah, and you die," Kinana shouted.
"Hey, don't forget this is a two on two," Laki shouted "{wood make: god punch}" she screamed as she hit both away. "Kinana now."

"Hey, you okay," Laki asked.
"yeah, we should catch up with the others" She turned as Heine and Juliet turned to smoke, leaving two swords. One was an archaic black sword with an intrinsic diamond pattern blade design that streaked down the weapon's metal frame. And the other was a simple white sword with an intrinsic design streaking down on the guard handle. "what."
"That had to be enchantment magic," Laki muttered.
"What, like Wendy" Kinana asked.
"Whoever did this is on a whole different level," Laki muttered. "I don't think even Wendy can do enchantments like that."
"I see you. You kept my little ones entertained" Laki and Kinana froze where they stood as Irene stood behind them. "I'm sorry if they caused you both any pain" Both girls turned fear laced on their faces as they stared down at the strongest women of the spriggan twelve.
