The last two weeks had been frustrating. They had twice came across the debris of Colonial ships. The total destruction implied Cylons rather than pirates or a group of humans. The first of those times the Raiders had jumped out as soon as the Raptors appeared might possibly mean that it was from Deonna Breann's ship but no one felt like taking any chances.
This system when spotted from a few light years distance by the Herse has a large asteroid belt and three gas giants. Nothing special but could have some useful ores and would make a decent hiding space. Of course a solar system is an enormous thing and "large" when it comes to an asteroid belt means millions of kilometer or larger sized asteroids any of which a couple of ships could be hiding behind. The last three hours had been the usual mix of boredom and fear that the Cylons would around the next rock waiting to kill them. 'Well we can return soon if we don't find anything' thought LT Scott Demal (Matchbox).
"Sir I am picking up something" said LT Tami Dinar (Wombat).
'Frak I shouldn't have been counting down the minutes until we could go back' thought Matchbox. "What do you have Wombat" he asked.
"It looks like four Colonial ships" said Wombat. "Two appear to be SDF."
"Well this is a pleasant surprise" Matchbox replied. "Have they noticed us yet."
"They should in a moment they were behind that larger asteroid which is why we just noticed them" said Wombat.
"Colonial Raptors this is the Tethys. Thank the Gods that we have found you. You are the first people we have found since leaving the Colonies" said the Tethys.
The report from the Tethys was that along with the Azeban they had two ships that were carrying civliians. They jumped around and ended up here hoping to hide. Matchbox was just about to respond when he was grabbed by Wombat and she turned off the wireless.
"Sir that Loki class ship. Two of her four engines are the ones from the Rambler" said Wombat.
Wombat wouldn't make a mistake. "Tethys we found a couple of ships as well. We could use your support. Would you like me to bring them here" he asked. The agreed to story if pirates were found was that the two Raptors would say that the Atlis and few cargo ships were all that they had for their fleet. No mention was to be made of the Chiron or the other ships. "Currently we are taking on water so it might be a few hours."
"Raptor that would be fine" replied the Tethys.

LT Tami Dinar was known to be quiet. Not because she is shy more because she was caustic when dealing with people not as smart as her. That she was rated as very high as an ECO and also as "unlikely to be ready for further promotion" was fine with her. Still that all of the senior officers are here talking to her about what she had scanned made her keep her more strident tones out of her voice.
"Commander the Azeban is a registered Libran SDF ship and clearly has had some repairs done to it. The two engines that are new are slightly smaller and match the type taken from the Rambler" replied LT Dinar. "Nothing about the Tethys seemed unusual. It was a First War Tyche Class with the standard upgrades given in the last 40 years."
"What about the two civilian ships" asked Commander Jasper. Jasper was wondering why two SDF ships (well one ship and a resupply vessel) would have done what they did. Maybe stealing the Rambler's engines if needed but the way the crews were treated was so methodical.
"Again nothing unusual. Standard short range people movers" said LT Dinar. "I did get part of one of the ships name. It was called the Limari Whites and there were some letters after that. No information on the other one other than it was the same class of ship."
For the next few minutes there were guesses. Whitestrike or Whitesnake both seemed likely. Major Limaki though seemed to be thinking of something. "You are sure the first part of the ship's name was Limari" asked Major Likmaki.
"Yes sir" replied LT Dinar.
"Sir give me a few minutes but I might have an answer" said Major Limaki.

The case of the religious sect formed by the Whitestrake family is an unusual one. In 1911 the government of Sagitarron in an effort to stop the annual flooding along the Acheron River which would often caused serious damage to the towns west of Tawa would start construction on one of the largest dams in the Colonies. The Grand Tagar Dam would stop that flooding and provide power to millions. The problem was the Tagar Valley had around 200,000 people living there.
This valley was fairly isolated with little contact with the rest of Sagittaron. When they were asked to move most agreed as they were more than fairly compensated. However one group that had a doctrinal difference with the rest in the valley who called themselves The Faithful were not interested in moving unless they could stay together as a group. This would be difficult as all habitable valleys on Sagittaron were already in use and few wanted what many considered a dogmatic and insular group in their midst. Over time a compromise was reached. The planet of New Acheron was recently discovered and scheduled to be a future Territory of Sagittaron. In 1925 over 4000 members of The Faithful lead by Pelinal Whitestrake moved the New Acheron.
What they found was that the name of New Acheron was misleadingly named. The planet was very dry (no rivers unlike the name would imply) and smelled oddly. All planets have different smells but New Acheron was described as smelling of stale cabbage. Pelinal Whitestrake then seemed to change. He prophesied the upcoming destruction of the Colonies in the next few years. Over the next 20 years the people of New Acheron dwindled as over half decided to return back to Sagittaron. On some uncertain date in 1949 after the start of the Cylon War the people of the Territory of New Acheron all disappeared. That the Cylons were ones who took them is almost certainly true as Cylon footprints were found when a Colonial supply ship found the Territory empty. Since that fateful day when the Territory of New Acheron was taken no clues to their fate has ever been found.
Most of the time you would think that the destruction of almost all of their people would lead to the extinction or obscurity of The Faithful. However it was the opposite that happened. Limaril Whitestrake the grandson of the founder of New Acheron had been on Sagittaron trying to convince some of it's lost members to return back when the Cylons captured his fellow Faithful. When he found that the rest of his family were taken and likely dead he showed he had a powerful speaking voice and an undeniable charisma. That the Sagittaron and Colonial governments had allowed this Territory to be ignored due to indifference or inability to defend everything in the opening days of the Cylon War was used to "prove" that his grandfather was correct that the Cylons would destroy humanity due to their sins. From what were only a few hundred believers still alive The Faithful swelled to over 20,000,000 on Sagittaron.
When the War ended again membership continued to grow and is one of the larger subsets of religious groups on that planet. The "End of the Colonies" part is no longer a tenet of Faith but the mysterious nature of the disappearance of New Acheron and the appeals this story has to the Sagittaron people who distrust the Colonial government makes it a popular faith. The upcoming 75th Anniversary of the founding of New Acheron is coming and The Faithful are sending it's two ships the Pelinal Whitestrake and the Limaril Whitestrake along with Limaril Whitestrake himself and over 600 of their most devoted followers who will make a three day journey to New Acheron. The Sagittaron government has agreed to send the Escortstar Tethys under Major Ziriion to accompany them.

Major Ziriion was tired of arguing with that crazy bastard Limaril Whitestrake. He did not care about "the prophesied doom". They needed to jump out of here as soon as possible. The Major in charge of the Azeban was saying they should leave without them. "Captain I am tired of talking to him. I believe you used to be part of his church. Could you talk to him and let him know that we need to leave with or without him" Major Ziriion said. The Cylons had refused Presidents Adar offer to surrender and the new President had sent an order to lead people out of the System made a lot more sense than a having a Escortstar and a Supplystar try to scratch the paint of a Baseship and it's the XO's job to deal with these type of jobs.
Captain Mihali seemed to have an odd gleam in his eye but the Major decided he imagined it. That his family were dead with the reported 50 megaton nuke being dropped on Tawa is probably the reason. "Yes sir" replied the Captain Mihali.

The Faithful had been able to take the Tyche and Azeban. During the fighting the Azeban had two engines along with several electrical system damaged causing it to be much slower in space and use fuel at a higher rate. Repairs might be possible but with most of the crew of the Tyche not being Faithful and none of the Azeban trained crew were stretched thin. Limaril Whitestrake had ordered all of the non Faithful to be eliminated.
"Commander we just had three ships jump into the system. They are Colonial two mining ships and one cargo" said the XO.
The Rambler as it was called and the other two ships reported that there had been a Battlestar protecting them until a few weeks ago when the Rycon was destroyed by the Cylons. They were very happy to see another armed Colonial ship.
"Captain Specter we do need to check your ships and will be sending a shuttle to each. They are to check supplies and ship maintenance. As you can see we have a damaged ship and need to see whether we can fix her with your help" said Commander Mihali.

A couple of things here to make this make more sense but avoid a bunch of character explanations.
1. I am going with the Colonies have a very basic internet that is purposely dumbed down. Things like newslinks or wikipedia work.
2. I have always wondered how would a Doomsday Cult act if Doomsday actually happened? Probably not great. This sect was a bit "odd" and strict but nothing really crazy. Until the Cylons attacked and they were "proven" right. Never mind their prophet was off by 50 years.
3. The "Faithful" as they called themselves were only planning a 3 day trip and wore religious garb. By the time the Rambler showed up their clothes were gross and things like lack of blankets and pillows were a problem. That is why the Rambler and the other two ships were stripped of such items. Any people who were not of that faith were killed.
4. "Commander" Mihali instead of becoming a Major as such a small ship would have became a Commander due to ego.
