Day 85
Omega Sector System 16471
Azeban

Major Limaki was walking on what would likely end up being "his" ship. Reading over the reports written by the Faithful they had been able to send a shuttle with over 40 of the "Steadfast" with a bunch of weapons. The Steadfast with the advantage of surprise and numbers had captured most of the Azeban quickly. The chief engineer had been able to send one hell of a surge through many systems destroying two engines along with many of the more delicate systems. It made sense for the late LT Nihks to have done what she did. Commander Jasper had given her a commendation in her reports for LT Nihks quick thinking and courage to blow up half the engines with LT Nihks in the room.

Still at this time Major Limaki wished that LT Nihks had been a bit less thorough. The replacement engines stolen from the Rambler are about 15% smaller but the sloppiness of the original repair has been fixed so only a minor downgrade. The bigger issue is that the dradis was basically fried. The Loki class was lightly armed but had some long range weapons if needed. The dradis was so messed up that hitting anything other than close range was pretty much impossible. This made sending the Azeban on it's own a bad idea so the Azeban would stay with the fleet and usually in close range to the Chiron to add a bit more point defense against missiles or Raiders.

This "stay at home" mission was why Colonel Marton stayed on the Atlis instead of taking over the Azeban. Or more likely the Azeban would be a more boring command and Jasper wanted someone more senior to deal with issues while scouting. Still it was an upgrade from the cramped Herse and the "challenging" Captain Odom. Right now though time to figure out what to do with the Azeban. Anika Kalss and Edgar Boban were here to see if their idea would possibly work out. "Anna do you think we could expand the shuttle bay" asked Major Limaki.

"It would be a pain but yes. We should be able to fit around 12 to 15 total shuttles in here when we are all done" said Anna Kalss.

The question ever since the Badger crew joined the fleet of "what to do with all these shuttles" had been asked. Edgar said they would be able to upgrade some of those shuttles to if not quite match the Danger shuttles they would be a lot better than nothing. Making more Vipers was possible if a very slow process. Problem was more Vipers would just add to the problems of landing them quickly on the Chiron. Making another flightpod on any ship would be a major undertaking that is likely far outside their abilities. The Azeban was already designed to fairly quickly receive and deliver supplies due to it's main mission as a supply ship. And the third group of pilots were about ready to start training so they would be able to staff them in the time it would take to retrofit the Azeban and the shuttles.

Major Limaki was about to ask Edgar a question when they heard "make a hole" and the new Marine recruits were doing their PT run with the now Sgt. Ryan. There had been some surprise that many of the people from the unlamented Captain Gorman's pirate group wanted to become Marines. A few had wanted to join the Navy but over a dozen had preferred the Marines. The now LT Becker had been more than willing to add them even with the issues that training would cause them.

"Edgar work on the shuttles a couple at a time. If that is what the Badger Squadron will be flying we need to train them on those craft" said Major Limaki. It would take about 3 months to complete the work on the Azeban and that would line up about when the pilots would be done training. This might slow down total completion time but should make sure they had enough for training purposes.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Sorry for the short chapter. I have a longer one planned to be out soon. Also wanted to give some information regarding what the Azeban will be used for and that the Marines were going to get some new members.
Thank you all for reading. Any questions or comments are appreciated!
