The Shepherds find themselves on the road to the Eastern Palace of Ylisse in order to protect Emmeryn from anyone who may wish her harm. After two days of travel it is revealed that there is a traitor amongst their company, and they are forced to fight in order to protect the exalt. However, disturbing news is brought by a young pegasus knight from the border; Plegia has breached their defenses and their army marches on the capital, Ylisstol. Fearful of what may happen to her people Emmeryn makes the decision to return, leaving the prized treasure of Ylisse, the Fire Emblem, with Chrom along with orders to make for Regna Ferox in order to rally their allies.
