- - - 19 Years Later - - -

It is the evening of September 1st. They are gathered in the Great Hall. The students from years Two through Seven are milling around the hall when the knock comes. BOOM, BOOM. Hagrid has come.

The students head to their tables as Deputy Headmistress Pomona Sprout makes her way to the front doors to collect the first year students. The Great Hall collectively watches as Professor Flitwick stands at the front of the room - the three legged stool nearly as tall as he is - and he smiles at them expectantly.

Professor Filius Flitwick raises his hands and the words spring upwards so everyone can see them and the song begins:

"Troll sat alone on his seat of stone,
And munched and mumbled a bare old bone;
For many a year he had gnawed it near,
For meat was hard to come by."

Headmistress Minerva McGonagall sits in her seat, watching her students prompt the young years to join in the singing. Their voices and words follow the bouncing ball.

"Done by! Gum by!
In a cave in the hills he dwelt alone,
And meat was hard to come by."

"Up came Tom with his big boots on.
Said he to Troll: 'Pray, what is yon?
For it looks like the shin o' my nuncle Tim,
As should be a-lyin' in graveyard."

The Headmistress smiles when the first years come in. Their steps slow as they hear the words and Sprout is doing her best to scurry them along inside.

"Caveyard! Paveyard!
This many a year has Tim been gone,
And I thought he were lyin' in graveyard."

The older students are enjoying themselves and the 'new' tradition, courtesy of a couple of Weasley sisters.

"'My lad,' said Troll, 'this bone I stole.
But what be bones that lie in a hole?
Thy nuncle was dead as a lump o'lead,
Afore I found his shinbone.
Tinbone! Thinbone!
He can spare a share for a poor old troll,
For he don't need his shinbone.'"

The doors shut and another year at Hogwarts begins.

A/N Elipsa: So we usually share this in the first chapter, but we didn't think about that until after we posted it and we - cough, me, cough cough - were too lazy to press the edit button and add it. ANYWAY. So, Mommy started this in May of 2015 where I - as usual - went: Mommy, let's write this together! And here we are.

Have another fun fact: for relationships we thought Mia would end up with Remus or Severus and Ginny was supposed to be with Sirius. LOL. We forgot about that, apparently, when we took a seven year break.
