Welcome back to Elemental Crisis Book I. Last time, White Canary summoned some of her fellow Legends of Tomorrow to locate Malefor, which Spyro revealed they can still do easily by the Aether in his blood. While that is working out, Spyro decided it was time to start Flash's training in his newly acquired Element of Fire. Steel pointed them towards the cargo hold as the best substitute for a dojo. So now, we see how that training session is going to go. So what awaits? Read on to discover...

(Our story opens up in the cargo hold, where a blur of yellow light, not unlike Flash when he's running around, is dashing about before stopping for a moment to reveal a kid in a yellow version of Flash's costume, only with his hair exposed for some reason. Just as this figure stops running about, Steel, Spyro, and Flash enter the cargo hold)

Steel: And here we are. Closest thing we have to a training ground.

Kid Flash: (Seeing his colleague) Hey Nate. (Notices Flash is here) Barry?

Flash: Good to see you too, Wally. How's working on yourself been?

Kid Flash: Honestly, refreshing. But it still feels good to put the suit on again. (Realizes who's standing there with Flash) Wait, is that Spyro the Dragon?

Spyro: That's my name. Chances are we'll be hearing a lot of it.

Kid Flash: No way, you're real?!

Flash: The multiverse never ceases to amaze, Wally. (Realizes he hasn't introduced anyone yet.) Spyro, Wally West, better known as Kid Flash.

Spyro: A pleasure. (Shaking Kid Flash's hand)

Kid Flash: The pleasure's all mine. (To Steel) Good news, inventory's pretty stocked. Whatever mission Sara's got us on, we've got the supplies to last it.

Steel: Good to know.

Kid Flash: So, what brings everyone down here?

Spyro: Need a training area to teach Barry here his new Elemental abilities.

Kid Flash: Elemental abilities?

Flash: It's a really long story.

Kid Flash: Now this I have to see. Let me clear you guys some space. (Dashes around as a blur of yellow light and moves crates aside instantly) There we go. Hopefully that's enough room.

Spyro: Should be perfect. Thanks Wally.

(With that, Spyro and Flash take their places standing opposite each other as teacher and student while Steel and Kid Flash look on.)

Flash: Alright, Spyro. What's lesson number one?

Spyro: First we have to see if you can even summon the Element of Fire.

Kid Flash: Wait, Barry, you can control fire now?

Flash: If Spyro's to be believed. We haven't tried before now.

Spyro: Fair warning before we begin, I'm not near as good at this as the dragon who taught me all this. So we may have some trial and error going on.

Flash: I'm sure you'll do fine.

Spyro: Alright then, let's begin. Fire is a source of light, heat, comfort, and, if used improperly, destruction. It is the light that guides one through their darkest hour. The most important part of summoning Fire is controlled breathing.

Flash: Controlled breathing. Seems simple enough.

Spyro: Concentration is key. One rogue distraction could set this whole ship ablaze.

Flash: (Takes a deep breath) Okay then, no pressure.

(Flash closes his eyes and tries to focus on the flame he knows dwells within him now. Focusing on his breathing, he tries to steady it. He can hear his own heart beating and tries to steady it. And all the while he still hears Spyro talking)

Spyro: Clear your mind, Barry, and feel the Fire that flows through your veins. Allow the heat to consume you, and breathe with it...

(For a moment it looks like Barry's got it, as little sparks of flame can be seen forming on his fingertips, and soon enough his hands are engulfed in flame.)

Steel: Holy... Barry, it's working!

(Flash hears Steel and sees the flames formed on his hands, and for a moment he panics but then realizes he doesn't feel the pain. But in his elation, he loses control and accidentally sends two streams of fire into the ceiling, triggering the sprinkler system to put him out and soak everybody in the room)

Flash: Correction, it was working.

Spyro: Well, at least we know you can summon it. That's pretty good for someone who's never used Elemental magic before. Now we just have to work on controlling it.

Flash: Yeah. (To Steel) Sorry about the ceiling.

Steel: At least you didn't pierce the hull. Then we'd be in real trouble.

Kid Flash: (Turning off the sprinklers) If I can offer some advice, I might be able to help you get this under control.

Spyro: (Shaking off the water from the sprinklers) Any help would be appreciated.

Kid Flash: When I was in the Peace Corps, I started a journey towards Buddhist enlightenment. This Fire stuff sounds like you need to be pretty Zen to get it right. Maybe if I taught Barry some of what I learned, it might help things progress a bit faster.

Spyro: If you think it'll help, I'm all for it. Heck, I'll join you, maybe I could learn a thing or two.

Kid Flash: Happy to do it. We'll probably start with some basic meditation, should help with the controlled breathing aspect.

Steel: While you guys are doing this, I'll head back to the bridge. See how tracking Malefor is going.

Flash: Probably a good idea. We'll likely be down here a while.

(And as Steel leaves the dragon and the two Speedsters to get to work, our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good place to wrap up for today. So, the training session went pretty well. Flash at least summoned some Fire, though his excitement forced it through the ceiling and doused everybody. But at least he can summon Fire at all, which is a good start. Now let's see if Kid Flash and his Zen philosophy can help get these flames under control in time to face Malefor. So, will Wally's tricks work? Tune in next time to hopefully find out! Same time... same channel!
