Chapter 6: The pack grows
The first two weeks of spring have just ended, and they have not left the pack indifferent. Indeed, it was rather productive, and new births are to be expected. This is the case, in particular, of Quinn and Puck. They've been impregnated for less than a year, but they haven't really waited before starting to think about conceiving a family. And the arrival of spring didn't help them.
Other couples are also waiting for a future child, or several children. Indeed, Mike and Mona are expecting fraternal twins, which will give even more life to the pack. The last two couples to expect a child are Caleb and Hanna, and Spencer and Toby. The latter being already parents of twins, having another child was not really what they had planned. However, as their instincts dictate, they are happy to hear it and share this news with the whole pack.
About four months after spring, the young are born. Quinn and Puck had a son, whom they decided to name Coby. Sharing the physical features of his parents, he has slightly swarthy skin and slightly dark blond hair. No doubt it will lighten over time, but it's a hair color that suits her very well. Of course, he is far too young for us to be able to determine his character yet. But, if he takes after his father, or his mother, because they have similar characters, he should be quite narrow-minded and dissipated.
Shortly after, it was Mona's turn to give birth to a pair of fraternal twins. With Mike, they decided to call them Ares and Laika. They too share the physical traits of their parents. The result is hair that mixes dark brown and chestnut. In terms of character, based on those of their parents, they should be quite playful and perhaps even dissipated. Of course, like any Omega, they will follow the orders given by their Alphas.
Then it was Hanna who gave birth. She and Caleb had wanted to expand their family for some time. And, this was the case with their little girl, born very shortly after Mike and Mona's children. They decided to call her Amalia, finding it to be a very pretty and original name. On the physical side, it is a perfect mix of blonde and dark brown, while having a dominance on dark brown. In terms of character, she should be quite playful, possibly almost hyperactive if we rely on her big brother, Camden. Also, she should be rather gentle and kind, always listening to others to help them.
The last to give birth is Spencer. She and Toby are already parents to very rambunctious fraternal twins. They also had a little girl, whom they decided to name Lana. Her physique is not very surprising, because his parents both have brown hair. Lana is therefore entirely brown, although she has some small shades of blonde. Her character, meanwhile, should be fairly easy to guess. She should be quite sporty and possibly inclined to study, like her mother. However, like all cubs, she will surely be playful and very active.
It's no surprise to say that cubs are a perfect blend of their parents, both character-wise and physically. Very often, it is in the color of the fur that the mixture is most noticeable. The character mix is a little less noticeable, unless you know the parents personally. It is also a beautiful symbolism, because the little ones take the best sides of their parents to become one.
A pack that has children is always full of life. We always hear laughter, screams and all the werewolves who pass by will feel the joy that emanates from them. Of course, cubs are considered an easy target when the pack is attacked. However, a pack will always strongly defend its young. So, beware of hunters who would like to venture into the territory of a pack of werewolves, especially if it is with the aim of attacking their young.
The little ones in the pack are very happy with these new births, because, for them, it means that they will have new friends to play with. For young Alphas, it is also a kind of pride. Although they are still quite young, they know what the pack represents and that it is nice to see it grow. At certain times, they even thanked the adults. This is not surprising behavior from an Alpha, but it is from a child. It seems that Liam and Ellie are more mature than we think.
Mature, yes, but they are still children full of energy. They love to play jokes on everyone, especially people who aren't well-regarded by the pack. This is their way of showing that they are protective and that they know which person is not accepted.
For example, Hanna's father came to visit, bringing his new family with him. Camden knows what happened a long time ago and didn't want it to happen again. So, under the excuse of the game, he went to the entrance to wait for their arrival. When he saw their car, he threw himself at the windshield, claws out and screaming at the top of his lungs. Then he started laughing and let them park quietly. However, he quickly informed Talia and Gabriel, because he knows that they are the best joke makers.
When Hanna learned of this, she quickly went to find her son, apologizing for this behavior, which was unusual on his part. Of course, she understood the reasons behind it. He just wanted to protect her, because he thinks these people are dangerous and can hurt his mother. It's a safe bet that he will become very protective as he grows up.
Throughout this family reunion, which was almost impromptu, Camden kept growling. He didn't like the people there, and he let it be known in his own way. Hanna ended up taking her son aside to ask him what was wrong. When she discovered the reasons for his aggressive behavior, her face fell. She was far from imagining that he would have such a reaction when seeing them, even if it is common knowledge of everything that happened. So, to avoid any conflict, their reunion was cut short.
Apart from this discovery, everything is going well in the pack. The last born are growing well, and they are even starting to become independent. Of course, they are not yet a year old and are not yet able to move on their own, but they already make sounds resembling words, to express what they want. This is a good start in their development, and they will continue to develop, until they are completely independent.
All threats from the pack have been eradicated, so the children are safe. Indeed, there are no longer any hunters who want their heads, although there are some, perhaps, who are hiding somewhere. But the biggest groups are in prison and will no longer pose any problems. At least, that's what they hope.
The new generation of the pack being assured, the adults will have to teach them to defend themselves against hunters, because they can always represent a threat. However, you still have to wait a few years until they are old enough to listen properly and be able to perform movements with ease. The youngest will have more theoretical lessons, particularly on what they must avoid during their explorations.
Indeed, it is not uncommon to see cubs venturing out of their territory, in order to explore the surroundings. They are naturally very curious, going wherever their tireless curiosity takes them. This makes them very easy targets, even for novice hunters. Of course, the bigger they are, the more able they are to defend themselves.
There are already fighters who have been spotted, among the older children of the pack. Although they are only 5 years old, this character trait is very easy to spot. It is in particular Ellie, the daughter of Aria and Ezra, who is quite feisty, and sometimes even angry. It seems that she has inherited the go-getter and fearless side of her mother, unlike her father, who is a little more reserved. Of course, this doesn't make her aggressive, although one might think so.
Another cub with a real interest in combat, even if it's for play, well, that's Camden. He is naturally protective, but does not hesitate to show aggression to achieve his ends. He knows how to control himself and is one of the friendliest of the cubs. However, he is very good at analyzing situations and how he must adapt to them. This therefore makes him one of the most formidable future fighters of the pack.
Then there is Aiden, only two years old. He is quite temperamental, sometimes even aggressive in certain moments. He respects his Alphas, and his parents, of course, but he remains quite stubborn and dissipated. When he doesn't like something, he knows how to let it be known, especially through quite pronounced growls. But when he likes something, yips of joy rain down without him being able to stop. When he gets older, he will probably be quite angry. Some werewolves are, without we really knowing why they are. Many believe that it is their wolf side that makes them like this, although this is just popular thinking and not studies done by scientists.
The other children in the pack are calmer and don't really show any interest in fighting. For them, it's just a long and boring game. When they are older, they will understand why they need to learn this. For the moment, they are much too young, it is normal that they are not interested in it yet.
The growth of a werewolf is pretty easy to understand. They grow as fast as a human, but reach adult size at the age of 18. As for their wolf form, it varies depending on the age of the child. When they are still babies, they turn into tiny cubs, unable to move on their own. When they are a little bigger, they transform into larger cubs, and are able to move around on their own. Between 10 and 16 years old, their wolf form is more lanky. They have large legs in relation to their bodies, which makes their movements more complex. It is also at this stage that the patterns are fixed for good. And, finally, at the age of 18, their wolf form is at adult size, as well as all their musculature. It is between the ages of 16 and 18 that the wolf form is defined.
The patterns and reflections of a werewolf vary from one individual to another. They usually appear at birth, but they can still move while growing. They often don't change greatly, making it possible to predict the final patterns. But, there may be surprises. Sometimes the patterns change completely or even disappear, resulting in a plain fur. As for reflections, they are not always very visible. Often they are visible only in the sun, although others are visible all the time.
Now that all threats are eradicated, all inclusions that needed to be made are done, the pack can resume its life. It is not immune to new births or new requests for inclusions, but it is nothing serious. A pack is always growing, so they will be happy to welcome new people. Now they can finally live their lives peacefully.
