As Destiny and the Professor approached the main gate, they were met by a group of guards dressed in red uniforms. The guards appeared on high alert, and their body language conveyed a profound tension. Destiny noticed that their expressions became guarded and suspicious as soon as they saw her.
Despite the guards' apprehension, the Professor remained unfazed and chatted cheerfully with her. Destiny, however, couldn't help but feel uneasy about the situation. She could tell the guards scrutinized her every move and exchanged mistrustful glances.
As the two drew closer to the gate, Destiny could see it firmly shut. She wondered what could be happening on the other side that warranted such heightened security measures. The guards appeared to be highly trained and disciplined, and she could sense that they were taking their duty very seriously.
The Professor's voice was filled with genuine gratitude as he addressed the guardsmen standing before him. "Thank you for your tireless work keeping us safe, my good guardsman," he said with a happy tone. As he stopped before them, Destiny, standing behind him, couldn't help but feel uneasy. She was unsure of what to do or say in this situation.
Suddenly, the Professor's attention shifted to Destiny, and he quickly pushed her forward, causing her to feel a bit startled. It was then that the Professor explained to the guardsmen that Destiny had been of great assistance to him and his Pokemon. Despite apologizing for bringing her into the village without permission, the Professor's sheepish tone couldn't hide his pride for his young companion.
The stern-looking men who said nothing but only glared at them. After a few seconds of silence, they eventually nodded, allowing them to go through. As they walked through, the gate opened just for them. Destiny trailed behind the Professor hesitantly, taking in her surroundings. She couldn't help but notice the tense atmosphere that seemed to permeate the area. Despite the people around them going about their everyday lives, reading books, and chatting with one another, an air of unease was prevalent. As they walked through, people stopped what they were doing and turned to look at them, their expressions ranging from curious to wary. Despite the Professor's reassuring presence, Destiny couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.
"Please follow me this way," spoke the Professor as he extended his hand towards the main path that led to the building in the center of the Jubilife Village.
As they walked through the village center, the Professor couldn't help but express his admiration for the fine people of the Galaxy Expedition team. "Thanks to them, Jubilife Village has come a long way," he said, pointing out the various developments along the way.
The Professor explained the road's significance to the locals as they turned onto Canal Avenue. Destiny wasn't listening. She couldn't help but feel self-conscious as the people around her whispered and pointed in her direction.
"That's quite an outfit right there." She couldn't help but feel self-conscious and wonder if she had made a fashion faux pas.
As she continued to walk, she overheard another woman comment, "I've never seen that child here before," referencing Destiny's youthful appearance. This made her feel even more out of place.
A young child noticed her and asked, "Where did you come from?" with a side-eyed look, making Destiny feel even more like an outsider.
Just as she started to feel uncomfortable, an elderly man approached her and asked, "What manner of dress is that?" He glared at her, making her feel like she had made a mistake by wearing such a bold outfit.
Thankfully, an older woman silenced the man and ushered him away, sending Destiny a glare. She didn't say anything, as the Professor was still speaking as they continued to walk. However, Destiny needed to pay more attention to what he was saying. Her mind was too preoccupied with the negative comments she had overheard.
A woman sweeping asked herself if the Professor knew the child. "We're not supposed to talk to strangers, you know," a little boy yelled at the Professor. However, the Professor ignored him and continued his path while explaining everything about the village to the woman. The little boy's friend approached him and asked who Destiny was. He glared at her before both ran off.
Before crossing the bridge, the Professor suddenly stopped, and Destiny stopped shortly after him. She felt uncomfortable knowing that everyone they had just walked by was staring at her while she talked to the Professor.
The Professor, lost in thought, suddenly exclaimed, "Oh, botheration! I forgot!" He turned to face Destiny, his expression apologetic. "I need to go and report that we successfully recovered the escaped Pokemon. Could you please wait for me at the canteen?" he asked her, pointing out the building. It was located just past the bridge, visible from where they stood. "It's called the Wallflower. You can't miss it," he added before rushing into the building ahead of them.
Destiny called the Professor to wait, but he was too far away. She was alone and surrounded by curious onlookers, so she followed the Professor's instructions and headed to the canteen. Slowly crossing the bridge, she looked around to see if she had arrived at the right place. The bridge was a beautiful structure made of wood and adorned with flowers that hung from the sides. Once she had crossed it, she saw the Wallflower, a cozy restaurant just to the bridge's left.
As Destiny approached The Wallflower, she noticed an older man standing outside who turned to her with a glare and a sneer on his face. Without any explanation, he rudely spoke to her, "Well now, aren't you suspicious? The Wallflowers are for Galaxy team members only. We don't have seats for outsiders. Move along." The man then went inside, leaving Destiny disappointed and confused.
As she stood there, feeling out of place, a young man approached her. Before she could even speak, the boy eyed her suspiciously and asked, "Who in the world are you, and what's that bizarre garb you are wearing? A Pokemon could slice right through those flimsy excuses for clothes." His words made her feel even more uncomfortable than she was, and she could feel her face flush with embarrassment.
The young man paused momentarily, looking at her up and down as if trying to figure out something. After a while, he seemed to realize something, and his face lit up with recognition.
"What is it?" worried that she may have unintentionally offended him. He appeared to be deep in thought for a moment before replying,
"To get in here, someone must have vouched for you..." His words confirmed her suspicions that she was invited in.
Destiny nodded in agreement, silently acknowledging that she was indeed invited here. She mustered up the courage to speak again, "Professor Laventon," she said
" was it Professor Laventon? Do you know each other? He's from a region a long way off, not the most reliable sort, though, letting Pokemon run off and give him the slip and all. Three more of them got away just a while ago," the boy said, shaking his head and disappointed at the Professor's antics. " if I hadn't been resting up after some Pokemon Drubbed me with a move called thundershock I could have Corral them for sure" the boy mumbled Destiny couldn't help but look worried at him unsure if he was a friend of the Professor or just a passerby that would most likely judge her like everyone else had just done." but the Professor well..."
Destiny felt worried as she wasn't sure if Rei was a friend of the Professor or just a passerby who would judge her like everyone else had. Suddenly, someone spoke from behind Rei, and he turned around to find Professor Laventon standing there. "Unfortunately, Rei is right. I'm a clumsy fellow," the Professor said.
The Professor's laughter echoed through the room as he approached Destiny with a warm smile. "But everything will be quiet all right now. Destiny here has agreed to help us with our Pokedex," he spoke kindly, gesturing to the young girl beside him.
Rei stood quietly, his eyes fixed on the Professor and Destiny. He gave them a side-eye and lingered momentarily, unsure what to say. After a few moments of silence, he finally spoke up.
"As in... She's joining the survey corps?" he asked with bewilderment and confusion, his eyebrows furrowed in disbelief. "What makes you think that's a good idea? We can't just take any Misfit who wanders out of the wilderness," Rei said as he sent Destiny to another side, making her look down at herself. She was already insecure, and this boy's words only made her feel worse.
The Professor looked at Rei sternly, clearly unimpressed with his attitude. "Destiny has shown incredible aptitude and potential in her training. She could be a valuable asset to our team," he explained, his voice firm and resolute.
Before Rei could respond, a woman's voice echoed through the room, drawing everyone's attention. "I'll allow it," she said, commanding and authoritative. Rei's eyes widened in surprise as he watched a woman with a strict posture approach them. It was clear that she was not someone to be trifled with.
The woman's voice was stern as she addressed Destiny. "Assuming the individual can contribute to the survey corps," she said, eyeing Destiny up and down. The young woman felt an instant wave of intimidation wash over her, but she remained silent and nodded in agreement. The woman, who appeared to be the group leader, looked at her for a moment longer before nodding. "I am the captain of the Galaxy Teams survey corps," she announced, her voice ringing across the room. "You may call me Cyllene." As she spoke, everyone turned to look at her once more, their attention entirely focused on the captain and her words.
After observing Destiny, Cyllene noticed that Professor Laventon had failed to explain how she could assist in securing his Pokémons when they escaped his control. Cyllene glanced at Destiny, examining her head to toe, and said, "Hmm... You seem to be around 15 years old."
Destiny, correcting her, said, "I'm actually 16, ma'am."
Cyllene nodded in approval and acknowledged Destiny's age.
However, Cyllene emphasized that they could only accept a stranger who wandered into Among Us with knowledge of their skills and origin. She turned to Professor L'Aventon and said, "Tomorrow, we'll see if you can prove yourself worthy." Cyllene spoke sternly, indicating the importance of proving oneself before being given any work.
"Captain, that's a most reasonable decision," the Professor said as he turned to face the captain. "Would you like to join us for a meal? I'm sure you have plenty of questions for our visitor," he added with a warm smile.
Destiny, nervously watching the exchange between the captain and the Professor, looked over to Rei and the captain. She was relieved they weren't paying much attention to her, but she still felt anxious as she wondered what questions they would ask her.
"That's quite all right," the captain politely declined the offer. "I prefer to eat alone so I can enjoy my meals without interruption," she explained as she turned and walked past them. She disappeared into the Wallflower restaurant, leaving the others behind.
The Professor watched the captain leave, his expression a mix of amusement and disappointment. "Aloof as always, I see," he mumbled to himself. "Well, no matter, the rest of us can share a meal and some pleasant conversation, right?" he said with a smile before turning to the restaurant and shouting, "Beni old chum, the usual potato mochi if you please, and make it for three today."
As they followed the Professor towards the restaurant, Destiny couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that the captain wouldn't be joining them. She hoped the Professor and Rei would be kind and understanding as she prepared to answer their questions.
As the trio settled outside the restaurant, the Professor couldn't help but express his appreciation for Beni's culinary skills. "Wonderful stuff, Beni! Much obliged. Your potato mochi never displease!" he exclaimed with a satisfied smile. However, as Destiny looked around, she noticed the man they had just spoken to was not pleased. He shot her a dirty look, apparently still upset with her for causing trouble earlier. Although Destiny picked up on the man's annoyance, her companions seemed oblivious. But the older man's facial expressions made it clear they were not welcome inside the restaurant and that trouble would not be tolerated, especially from her.
Rei sat beside Professor Destiny during their snack while they ate some mochi. Curious to know the story behind the stranger who had recently joined them, Rei asked the Professor, "Where did you find the stranger in the first place?"
With a sheepish smile, the Professor responded, "Do you know about the great Hole in the Sky, the one people call the SpaceTime Rift? Our new friend fell right out of it."
The group fell silent, processing what they had just heard. Destiny was particularly perplexed, not understanding exactly what had happened. Rei, on the other hand, was confused, trying to make sense of the explanation. "... was that a joke?" he asked, seeking further clarification.
The Professor stood up straight and said in a proud tone, "I am a scientist. My job is to observe and explain any phenomena. I concern myself with only facts." Rei nodded in agreement and listened carefully to what the Professor had to say. The Professor continued, changing the topic, "Now, as you already know, there are many Pokemon here in the Hisui region. They are everywhere: in the grass, forests, and ocean. It is the responsibility of the survey corps to study them and figure out what kind of creatures they are."
Rei added, "Yes, we have seen a lot of different species of Pokemon during our travels."
"Well," said the Professor, "we know this much: Pokemon are terrifying creatures. It's almost impossible to know what kinds of powers they possess or what wondrous things they can do. But that's where Destiny comes in. She has successfully caught three Pokemon in quick order, you understand." The Professor looked over at Destiny with a proud expression on his face. Feeling a little embarrassed, Destiny turned away from the Professor, feeling sheepish at the short praise.
Destiny savored the taste of her food, finding it rather good but slightly bland. She smiled and said, "It really was nothing at all."
The Professor's face beamed with confidence as he stated that no one on the Galaxy team could achieve what they had just accomplished. This newfound success meant they could finally begin their Pokemon research earnestly. Rei was in disbelief and murmured, "That's really something. We're lucky if we can catch even one wild Pokemon and fend off their attacks." Destiny smiled at him, understanding his amazement.
The Professor explained that the Pokemon they caught on the beach was not attacking them, but seeing it required getting close enough to aim the Pokeball accurately. The Professor added that their new friend was fearless enough to do just that, making him proud of their achievement.
As they continued their meal, they talked about their plans moving forward. They discussed the Pokemon they hoped to catch and the strategies they would use to capture them. Destiny shared some of her insights from her previous Pokemon research, and Rei listened intently, hoping to learn from her experience.
Destiny was trying to motivate herself with the words, "It wasn't that hard... I'm sure I can do it again," while the Professor gave her a sheepish look, and Rei gave her a proud smile for her newfound confidence.
As the group was eating at a restaurant, someone behind Destiny spoke up and said, "Does the Survey Corps have the freedom to take a break and enjoy a meal with this outsider? Your captain has ordered ten portions of potato Mochi. She's been stressed about your slow progress on the Pokédex." Everyone turned to face Beni, the restaurant owner, who glared at Destiny, causing her to lose confidence and feel powerless.
However, the Professor tried to lighten the mood by saying, "I'm sure we'll start to rein in the good Captain's stress-eating soon enough." Although the Professor's smile was a bit tense, no one paid it any mind.
The Professor turned to Destiny, saying, "Now, have your fill. If you make it onto the Galaxy team, you'll never have to worry about a meal again. The team provides for all its members' needs, even if they fall out of the Sky." The group continued eating, enjoying their meal and the company.
As the night continued and the conversation continued, Destiny grew increasingly tired. Her eyelids felt heavy, and her bones ached halfway through the meal. However, she didn't want to be rude and interrupt the discussion with Professor and Rei. So, she quietly endured the discomfort, trying her best to remain engaged in the conversation. Despite her fatigue, Destiny kept up with the discussion, sharing her thoughts, listening to the other's opinions, and answering questions. They talked about everything from the latest scientific discoveries to the mysteries of Pokemon. As the night deepened, the room grew darker, and the group started to get up from the table. Destiny stretched her limbs, feeling the relief of standing up after sitting for so long. She realized that her exhaustion had caught up with her, and she felt grateful for the opportunity to sit down and rest.
The Professor savored the last bite of his meal with a satisfied expression. "That was quite delicious, quite delicious indeed," he exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with delight.
Meanwhile, Rei stood outside the Wallflower restaurant, looking composed and relaxed despite the weight of their upcoming trial. "You do know that we won't get to have Destiny join the survey corps unless she passes a trial," he reminded the Professor calmly.
The Professor shrugged nonchalantly and waved his hand dismissively. "Not to worry, I have complete confidence in Destiny's skill," he declared with a reassuring pat on Destiny's back.
Destiny smiled gratefully, though she couldn't help feeling nervous about the trial. But before she could say anything, the restaurant door swung open, causing them to turn around. The captain stood there, his stern gaze fixed as he greeted them with a curt nod.
She overheard what the Professor said and told Destiny, "I hope it's not misplaced." She answered Destiny by name, "For tonight, at least, we will provide you with a place to sleep. You may use our quarters over there." She pointed towards a raggedy old house right next to the main building in the center of the town. The place looked old and messy, with broken pieces scattered around as if it had been years since anyone had bothered to clean it up.
As Destiny glanced at the house, she couldn't help but grimace. It was clear that it wasn't going to be a comfortable stay. But as she considered her options, the captain interrupted her thoughts, "If you feel you must pass the trial we will put to you tomorrow, you must move on. You will be exposed to the Wilds and face your fate, perhaps even death." The captain's words sent shivers down Destiny's spine, and she couldn't help but feel fearful.
Rei spoke under his breath, making sure Captain Cyllene didn't hear him as he compared her to Hisui, a place known for its harshness. Destiny, who was nearby, looked at him curiously as the Professor spoke.
"Now she simply puts on a stern front to keep us all safe." Sensing the need to change the subject, the Professor said, "Anyway, I think it's time we turn in for the night, huh? The futons we sleep in here might not be comfortable, but at least one can't fall out of them. Our new friend has had enough of falling for one day." The Professor was trying to lighten the mood, but Destiny couldn't muster a smile, even though he was giving her a big, bright smile, trying to encourage her to be happy.
Rei, on the other hand, appeared to feel more comfortable around Destiny now that he had gotten to know her, and he was glad that she could stay for at least a night.
The Professor bid Rei and Destiny a good night as he walked towards the building in the village's center. Rei waved goodbye to the Professor and yelled, "Yeah, sleep tight," as he watched him walk away. After the Professor left, it was just silence between Rei and Destiny as they stood there.
Suddenly, Rei's gaze shifted towards the mountain with a glowing black hole over it. He started to speak silently, expressing his disbelief at the story they had heard earlier. "Still... Are people falling from the Sky? That's some story," he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief.
As he walked towards his own house, he left Destiny alone, who was still standing there, waving goodbye to him. The village was now quiet, and the only sound that could be heard was the soft rustling of leaves in the wind.
Destiny took a moment to glance around her, taking in the sight of the village at night. The moon was shining brightly, casting a soft glow on everything around her. The chirping of crickets and the occasional hooting of a Pokemon filled the air, creating an almost palpable peaceful atmosphere. The village was quiet, but not in an eerie way. It was a calmness that could only be felt during the night, an almost magical stillness. As she slowly made her way towards the new house, she couldn't help but notice the tranquility of the village. Everyone around her seemed relaxed, enjoying the night atmosphere. However, she could sense tension in the air whenever she passed by. She knew it was because she was an outsider, and they weren't friendly with her initially. Despite the tension, she couldn't help but appreciate the subtle beauty of the village at night.
Finally arriving at the little house, she struggled to open the door. After a few attempts, it eventually opened, and she stepped inside. The inside was slightly unkept, with dust covering the floor and many drawers throughout the room. Destiny couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. She had hoped the new house would be clean and ready for her to move in despite being tired.
She started with the bed area where she was supposed to sleep. The blankets and the futon were scattered and smelled like dirt and mud. She couldn't believe how unclean everything was. She spent the next few hours cleaning everything, dusting the floors, and wiping down the furniture.
After cleaning, Destiny was happy to say she had done a proper job. The room looked and smelled much better than before. She allowed herself to rest a little bit, admiring the work she had done. The silence and stillness of the night were comforting, and she felt grateful to be able to experience it. She knew it would take some time to get used to living in the village, but she felt like she could do it for the first time since she arrived.
