Daddy-Daughter Picnic
In the land of a Equestria, there was a place called Bridlewood where the Unicorns lived. And within this land of the Unicorns was a tea shop called the Crystal Tearoom. It was run by a big, strong Unicorn stallion with a grey coat and a white mane, sideburns, and tail. His name was Alphabittle. And he lived in that tea shop with his daughter, Misty Brightdawn, a teenaged Unicorn mare with a sky-blue coat, and multi-colored mane and tail. Together, they lived in that tea shop home happily. They loved spending time together as they had a very strong bond with each other. Misty was a huge daddy's girl and wasn't afraid at all to admit it. Her father was her hero and her most favorite pony in the world. She loved him so much that she never wanted to leave home; she just wanted to live with him her whole life. And Alphabittle loved his little girl more than anything in life. She was the apple of his eye and the best thing that's ever happened to him. He would do anything for her; including getting her anything she wants. He occasionally gives her presents at different times of the year. Even if it isn't her birthday or a holiday. Misty thinks he overdoes it a little in that area, but she knows that he only does it because he loves her. And she can't help but love him even more because of that. She already loved the attention he gives her. They've had this strong bond since Misty was a filly; back when Alphabittle had a blue mane and tail.
One day, a huge party was held at the tea shop. And Alphabittle took care of the entire thing. He decorated the place, served the orders all by himself, made sure there were enough seats for everypony, everything needed for a party. Misty offered to help, but he told her not to worry as he wanted her to have enough energy to have fun. And Misty did for a while. But as the party went on, she noticed that it was beginning to be a lot of work for her poor middle-aged father. She pleaded him to let her help, but he refused to let her work when she was still young and should be enjoying herself as young ponies should. Not wanting to argue with him, Misty continued the party while her father worked. At the end of the party, the tea shop was left a mess. A really big mess. Misty felt guilty for not helping her father and offered to help him clean up. But as usual, he said he would do it himself and to not worry about it. He told her to get to bed and get a nice sleep after having so much fun. Once again, she couldn't argue with him, but she felt horrible that he keeps doing everything by himself when he doesn't need to. As Misty went to sleep, poor Alphabittle stayed up late midnight cleaning up his tea shop. By the time he was done, the poor stallion was so tired that he was practically a dead pony when he finally got to bed. Misty could hear his snores from her room. Normally, that would be considered a racket to any other pony, but to Misty, it was a cruel reminder that her father cares about her so much that he would put his own health at risk. As she tossed and turned and thought about how exhausted her father must be, Misty gets an idea to give him some fun by taking him on a picnic.
Morning came, and Alphabittle was still asleep in his bed still really tired after the party last night. He was snoring so loud because of his strong voice and fatigued state. As the stallion slept, Misty snuck into his room and got into bed with him.
"Daddy." Misty whispered as her father snored, "Daddy, wake up." She whispered again as she shook him a little. But he still slept. He didn't even hear his own daughter.
"Come on Daddy!" Misty begged as she shook him some more, "Today's such a nice day! And I want to spend it with you!" The middle-aged stallion still slept as if nothing happened. If it wasn't for his snoring, he would sure seem like a dead pony at this point.
"Come on Daddy!" Misty cried again in frustration while shaking him once more, "Wake! Up!" She exclaimed as she finally just tap her hooves against him really hard.
"Huh?! Wha-what?!" Alphabittle blabbered as he finally awoke. He looked as though he was in a daze. He could barely open his eyes, and underneath them were more bags than he normally has in his current age. He rubbed his eyes to get them readjusted and then saw his daughter laying next to him. He got the warm, fuzzy feeling he normally gets around her and smiled.
"Hey, Misty." Alphabittle said in a tired voice as he pulled her in for a hug with one hoof, "Good morning. How's my girl?"
"I'm fine." Misty answered as she nuzzled against his chest, "Are you okay, Daddy?" She asked worryingly, "It's almost eleven. You don't normally sleep in like this."
"Oh," Alphabittle said before giving a big yawn, "Daddy's alright. He's just a little tired, that's all. That was a big party last night, wasn't it? Daddy had a lot of cleaning up to do. Heh, heh," He chuckled, "I'd like to say that the mess wasn't going to clean itself, but when you're a Unicorn, even that isn't enough to get the whole mess cleaned up!" He gave a tired laugh before making another yawn. He then laid his head down and shut his eyes; looking as though he was falling asleep again. Misty saw there just how tired he was and began to feel guilty.
"Oh," Misty said with guilt, "Okay. I'll leave you alone." She finished as she began to leave the room.
"W-what?" Alphabittle yelped as he rose his head up again, "No! Wait!" He cried as he used his magic to bring her back, "Don't go! Stay with your Daddy!"
"Huh?!" Misty moaned in confusion.
"Lay with your Daddy." Alphabittle said as he put his hooves around his daughter to give her a hug. One hoof was to hold her close to him, while the other was gently stroking her mane.
"B-but," Misty stammered, "I-I don't want to bother you."
"How can you be a bother to Daddy," Alphabittle replied before yawning again, "When seeing you makes him so happy?" He gave her the warmest smile he could give despite his sleepy state. But it was clear he was still really tired. Misty's eyes quivered. She couldn't believe that he would love spending time with her despite being so tired. It was because of that she couldn't help but hug him back.
"Oh Daddy!" Misty cried happily as she put her hooves around his neck. Alphabittle hugged her even tighter then. He was just enjoying that moment so much that he didn't want it to end; he didn't want to let her go.
"So," Alphabittle said as he looked at her again, "Was Daddy snoring?"
"Heh, heh." Misty giggled bubbly, "Yeah. You snore pretty loudly."
"Only when Daddy's extra sleepy." Alphabittle said jokingly, "Ha Ha!" He laughed as strongly as he could. Suddenly, he gave an even bigger yawn than before. He slowly descended back into his bed and laying on his pillows with his eyes shut. Misty could tell that now wasn't the best time to get her father up for a picnic. So instead, she figured he could use a little more sleep.
Misty leaned toward him to give him a soft kiss on his cheek and said, "You can sleep a little longer if you need to Daddy. I don't mind."
Alphabittle opened one eye and said in a tired voice, "Thank you Misty. Just give Daddy ten more minutes, and then he'll be ready," He continued before shutting his one eye and giving one more big yawn, "To start the day." He then went back to sleep while keeping a hoof around Misty to keep her close to him.
"Oh, Daddy." Misty said softly as she hugged him again while nuzzling against his chest, "You big sleepyhead." She then fell asleep with him as her father began to snore.
Finally, after some additional sleep, Alphabittle and Misty set out into a nice field to have their picnic. Misty was galloping with joy to spend some quality time with her daddy. She loved the times they got to have some quiet time together without so many ponies gathering around. Once in a nice enough place in the field where they can be surrounded by flowers and have a new few, they put out a blanket and set up the picnic.
"It's such a nice day," Misty said happily, "Isn't it, Daddy?"
"It sure is." Alphabittle answered as he laid out the plates with his magic, "And there's no better way to spend it than with you." Misty giggled bubbly after hearing that. She just loves the attention he gives her. Suddenly, as they were preparing the picnic, Alphabittle gave a huge yawn and rubbed his eyes little. He suddenly looked almost as tired as he did when he was in bed. Misty's smile disappeared and her eyes quickly quivered in sadness. She turned away and covered her eyes.
"Whew." Alphabittle sighed, "Guess Daddy's still not quite up as he thought he was. Do you ever have those days, Misty?" He asked as he turned to her. As soon as he looked at her, he noticed that she looked as though she was going to cry. "Misty?" Alphabittle said with worry as he walked to her, "Misty, what's wrong?" He asked as he gave her a warm hug from behind.
"I knew it." Misty cried as a tear fell from her face, "I knew this was a bad idea. Why did I ever think this was a good idea?" She asked herself in shame.
"What're you talking about?" Alphabittle asked.
"I should've just left you alone." Misty answered while crying, "I shouldn't have come wake you up like that. If I hadn't, you wouldn't be so tired. You would've gotten enough sleep."
"Sweetie." Alphabittle cooed as he hugged her tightly, "Don't be so hard on yourself. It's not your fault."
"Yes it is!" Misty yelled as more tears fell, "It's all my fault! If I wasn't your daughter, you wouldn't be so tired!"
"Misty!" Alphabittle gasped, "How could you say that?!"
"It's all because of me!" Misty explained, "You do so much for me! You work really hard on most days so that I can have free time to play and explore when I could be helping you around the tea shop, you stay up late to clean up when I can help, and you go to such great lengths to get me such wonderful things! On random days of the year and with things that I don't even need!" Misty hid her eyes with her hooves again and cried some more, "You're sleeping in more and more! This could be dangerous to your health! You wouldn't be in this condition if you didn't have me! I'm sorry, Daddy!" Misty apologized, "I'm sorry you feel as those you have to work so much harder than normal!"
"Misty." Alphabittle cooed as he hugged her tightly again, "I'm happy to have you as my daughter. I wouldn't want to live any other life if I didn't have you." He stroked her mane gently as he continued, "Don't be so hard on yourself. I know you don't mean any of those things."
"But, Daddy," Misty cried.
"You're the whole reason why I can live. The whole reason I'm happy. I only don't let you help me most of the time because you're young. I don't want to have you make you work so much when you should be having fun. And I give you so many gifts because of how happy you make me. It's my way of saying thank you for being my sweet little Misty. My way of showing you how much you mean to me. Maybe I do go a bit overboard, but I can't help it sometimes. Daddy just loves his little girl so much that he wants her to be happy." Alphabittle then put all of his strength in hugging Misty as he said, "It's hard, yes. But seeing you happy and being with you makes it all worth it. I promise you Misty, I don't regret having you at all. You're the apple of my eye. And I'm proud that you're my little girl."
Misty was touched by his words. "Y-you really mean that, Daddy?" She asked as the tears stopped halfway on her cheeks.
"Yes." Alphabittle, "You're my whole world. And I want to spend every day of my life with you. My little Misty." He cooed.
Misty smiled as she hugged him by putting her hooves around his neck and nuzzling against his chest, "Oh, Daddy!" Misty cried with happiness as the tears fell once again, "Thank you, Daddy!"
"And thank you, Misty." Alphabittle replied, "For being my little princess." He finished as he nuzzled his cheek against her head.
The two had locked each other in that hug for what felt like nearly ten minutes. They were so lost in that hug that neither of them wanted to let go. Alphabittle especially. He loved his little girl so much that he wanted to keep her by his side forever. And he intends to do so no matter how old she gets. Misty also loved this hug so much. Her father was so kind and loving, she felt like the luckiest filly in the world to have him as a father. Some ponies make fun of how she still lives with her dad and spends an awful amount of time with him, but she didn't care what they said about her. She's proud to be a daddy's girl and hopes to stay with him forever.
"Now Misty," Alphabittle said with a slightly serious voice, "Don't get upset next time Daddy feels a little more tired than normal. He's perfectly fine; I promise."
"Yes, Daddy." Misty answered.
"Besides," Alphabittle said with a smile, "Even if he didn't have you, which he doesn't even want to imagine that, he'd still be a big sleepyhead. He's an old stallion after all."
Misty was shocked at what he said. And even a little insulted. "Daddy!" Misty yelled, "You are not old!"
"Oh, yes I am." Alphabittle chuckled, "Look at how white your daddy is." He said as he pointed at his mane and sideburns, "And I can even hear some joints starting to creak." He continued as he moved one of his hooves in a circle, "Oh!" He yelped, "See? That one's already starting to give out."
"No, Daddy!" Misty argued, "You're not old!" She then hugged him again and said softly, "You're wise. Very wise. Please, Daddy." She begged, "Please don't call yourself old again. I hate it when you do that."
Alphabittle gently stroked her mane as he smiled down at her. The warm, fuzzy feeling he gets around her came back and was better than before. "Oh," He said as he got a little idea in his head, "So, Daddy isn't old, he's wise?" He then gave her a mischievous smirk as he teased, "So, does that mean you're not young, but naïve?" He then gave a little laugh at his joke.
"Daddy!" Misty complained as she got saddened.
Alphabittle stopped laughing and saw how sad his girl was looking. "Now Misty," Alphabittle said as he hugged her tightly again, "You know Daddy's just teasing."
Misty smiled as she put her hooves around his neck again, nuzzled against his chest and answered, "I know."
"I love you with every bit of my heart, my sweet little Misty." Alphabittle said softly as he stroked her mane again.
"I love you too, Daddy." Misty said back, "You're my very best friend."
The hug lasted for nearly ten minutes as they once again didn't want to let go of each other. But they soon realized that they had a picnic to have and quickly got to it. The two enjoyed their time together as they ate their food and played together. Misty especially had a lot of fun because she felt as though she can spend time with her big, strong daddy without feeling any guilt or stress anymore. Knowing how much she means to him, and that he's still perfectly healthy, Misty felt as though there was nothing else to worry about. And as her young days went on, each day was a most happy memory that she will cherish forever. Because it would always be a day that her hero, her daddy, was with her.
Thank you so much for reading this short story. I do apologize if the characters and even the lore in this story isn't perfectly accurate to the source material as I haven't seen much of G5 MLP except for that it had a father/daughter relationship in it. This story is mainly for the purpose of acting as a template for the father/daughter relationship for my OCs that I'm creating as well as just making a sweet story between these two as I'm a huge sucker for father and daughter relationships. Especially with ponies. I hope this story gave some idea as to what the relationship between the father and daughter relationships my two OCs have. Those OCs are Princess Fire Rose and King Astral Flash. At this moment, they're still in the processing phase and are not yet ready to be presented in a story. But they will be soon and I promise that you will love them not only for their relationship, but just as characters alone. Thank you for reading and I hope you'll look forward to more from me
