In the Chaotic hub Nora walked over to Jekyll who was overlooking a table with a screen on it.
"Hey Jekyll!" Nora greeted.
"Hey Nora." Jekyll said without looking away from the table.
"What are you doing?" She asked.
"I'm planning my deck for a match I have soon. I'm going up against a relatively new player called PyroArcher." He said.
"Oh, by the way have you seen Ruby? I want to see if she wants to go on a scan quest with me to scan the Magma Dam." Nora said.
"I think she said she was planning on trying to convince her sister and friends to play Chaotic." Jekyll told her.
"I know how that feels, I've been trying to convince my friend Ren to play more but he's always busy doing something else." Nora stated. "How do you thinks she's doing.
Jekyll merely looks at Nora and shrugs.
Ruby is walking down the sidewalk and next to her is a teenage girl with long blonde hair and lilac eyes.
"So what is the game you want me to try again Rubes?" asked the blond girl.
"It's called Chaotic, trust me Yang you'll love it." Ruby told her sister.
"I'll show how the game works so you'll understand how to play it, but first we need to get you some cards." Ruby said as she led her sister to a card shop.
Jekyll was entering the Imthor Drome and once inside he saw a girl with long, dark brown hair, gold eyes, and fair skin. She wears a jumper-like outfit composed of dark brown leather shorts, a red hoodie-like top, red stockings, and white thigh-high boots embellished with gold linings and symbols. Her accessories include a leather belt with two small bags, gloves, a small belt on her right thigh, and gold-framed goggles. Her most distinguishing feature is the headband with the large red bow that rests on her head, resembling the shape of bunny ears.
"Nice to meet you, the names Amber!" the girl said enthusiastically.
"You can call me Jekyll." Jekyll told her. 'Why is it most of the girls I meet are so energetic?' He mentally questioned as he remembered a couple of his friends and when he met Nora and Ruby.
Inside a card shop Ruby had just got Yang a starter deck and some booster packs and were now looking over her cards.
"Ok so how does it work?" Yang asked.
"Well first off there are four different tribes and you can tell them apart by the color of the creatures card. OverWorld is blue, UnderWorld is red, Danian is brown and Mipedian is mustard yellow." Ruby as she gestured to some creatures they found in the booster packs.
"Hmm, what's with these UnderWorld guys?" Yang asked.
"Ooh UnderWorlders, most of them specialize in fire attacks and have high power." Ruby said.
"I like the sound of that." yang said with a grin.
"Yay!" Ruby cheered. "That means we can be UnderWorld buddies!" She exclaimed.
"Oh hey Ruby, hey Yang." A voice said and both sisters turn to see Jaune had just entered the shop.
"Hey Jaune!" Ruby greeted. "This is perfect, I was just introducing Yang to Chaotic. Want to help?" Ruby asked.
"Sure." Jaune agreed. "I'd love to help, I didn't really have anything to do anyways."
"So what do I do first?" Yang asked.
"Well first off, you need to set up your team. In chaotic there are 3 main match ups, 1-on-1s, 3-on-3s and 6-on-6es. For a 6-on-6 you need to choose 6 creatures, 6 pieces of battlegear, and 6 mugic." Ruby explained.
"Wait, mugic?" Yang asked, a cheeky grin slowly growing on her face. "As in-"
"Yes as in 'music' and 'magic' combined." Ruby interrupted her. "I will not have this moment ruined by your puns." She stated before continuing.
"You also have to make sure the creatures you use work well with each other. Some have special abilities which can be a huge help." Ruby said.
"You can also give them some battlegear to give a boost or help them work better with your deck. You can also pull of some clever strategies this way using good combos." Ruby added.
Back in the Imthor drome Jekyll was choosing his team.
'I'll go with creatures that have high courage and use earth attacks and bury her alive.' He thought as he picked his creatures. 'Van Bloot with his sickle is must have, I'll also add in Ketacc since he's an energy intimidator and give him a Vlaric shard to give his Earth attacks some extra power and the Armbands of Lore will give H'earring's courage a major boost.'
"Mugic is also incredibly valuable since it can turn the tide of a fight in big ways. It can deal damage to the enemy creature, heal your creatures, destroy battlegear and so much more." Ruby informed her sister before adding. "But creatures can only use mugic from their tribe or generic mugic unless something changes that like a special ability or a piece of battlegear."
'For mugic, I'll add a Nocturne of the Elements and Melody of Malady and in case I'm in desperate need of energy, a pair of Geo Flourish mugic.' Jekyll thought.
"Then there's the locations, each location has a special ability that can make them just as important as the other types of cards. They can range as far as giving certain attacks a boost to bringing back used mugic or destroyed creatures!" Ruby exclaimed.
'My high courage creatures will thrive in Fear Valley and Van Bloot knows Gothos Tower like the back of his hand.' Jekyll planned. 'Gloomuck Swamp and Rock River Canyon will be perfect for my Earth attackers.'
"What about these attack cards?" Yang asked.
"Ok, you see that number in the top left corner?" Ruby asked. Yang nodded.
"Well those are 'build costs'." Ruby said. "Since you're playing a 6-on-6 match your attack deck has 20 build points." Ruby said. Yang just looked confused sos she sighed.
"The attack deck consists of 20 cards and every attack has a build cost that you need to pay to include them. For example, you want to put in the attack your holding, Emberswarm, but it has a cost of 1, since for this match you have 20 build points, by including that attack in your deck you now have 19 build points remaining. this way you can't just stack your deck with powerful 3-5 cost cards." Ruby explained.
"Also there is a rule of 2 for Chaotic meaning you can't have more than 2 copies of the same card in your deck. Except for cards with 'unique', then you can only have 1 copy of those." Ruby said.
Yang nodded and put together her deck.
after quickly putting it together she and Jaune got ready to reveal their teams.
Yang had Kopond, Krekk, pyrithion, Barath Beyond, Magmon and Dardemus.
While Jaune had Heptadd, Drabe, Somnort, Owis, Accato and Crawsectus.
Back in the Imthor drome both Jekyll and Amber revealed their teams.
Jekyll had Nivenna, UnderWorld Lieutenant, Skreeth, H'earring, Banshor, Lord Van Bloot and Ketacc.
Amber had Vidav, Drabe, Garv, Aivenna, OverWorld Lieutenant, Accato and Heptadd.
"For this 6-on-6 match, MadDoctor will be the first attacker, please spin your location randomizer."
Jekyll spun the location randomizer and ended up with...
"The first location shall be Fear Valley."
"Lord Van Bloot attacks Accato!" Jkyll said as he was transformed into Lord Van Bloot and Amber was transformed into a teenage-looking rock star creature with purple spiky hair. He was wearing a red shirt, sleeveless black jacket with thick metal ring round the shoulders, blue jean, finger-less gloves and brown boots.
"Let's get chaotic!" they both said.
In Fear Valley Accato was looking around for Van Bloot when suddenly the mountains mout started to mave and appeared to lunge for him.
Taking a step back he braced himself until it stopped moving and nothing appeared to have happened. Accato then took a breath before Van Bloot suddenly flies out of the mountains mouth and launches a spirit gutst attack at Accato, launching him back.
Van Bloot then materializes his Sickle and dives at Accato. Recovering, Accato gasps and barely manages to roll out of the way in time.
"Emberswarm!" Accato retaliates by firing embers at Van Bloot, but he uses a Thunder Shout to disperse the attack.
Slamming his scythe on the ground, Van Bloot launched a Rock Wave at Accato and knocked him back again.
"Song of Resurgence!" Accato calls out as music played and a purplish-pink beam of light hits him, healing his energy.
"Primordial Rage!" Accato was enveloped by a crimson energy for a moment before getting back up on his feet and used a Fireram attack, knocking Van Bloot down to the ground.
"Skeletal Strike!" Van Bloot unleashed a skeleton at Accato which hit him and drain even more of his energy.
"Earth Pulse!" Van Bloot fired a beam of brownish energy with pieces of stone in it at Accato and coded him.
Back at the card shop Yang had took the first turn by revealing the location, UnderWorld City.
"Barath Beyond attacks Accato." Yang said.
"Ok first of both players draw 2 attack cards. Since you won initiative you get to go first and draw an attack card." Ruby said and then Yang drew an attack.
"Ok I'll start of with Gladiator's Fire." Yang said as she played a card that depicted a creature firing a wave of fire across the ground.
"Ok your Barath Beyond has the Fire Element so normally it would do 10 damage but since it has recklessness it deals 15, plus Barath's Fire 5 it deals a total of 20 damage." Ruby explained
"Don't forget, Underworld city gives attacks 'Challege Power: 15', so it deals another 5 damage since Barath has at least 15 more Power. Plus yet another 5 damage from the boost her Whepcrack gave her, for a grand total of 30 damage." Jaune added, putting as Accato was down to 35 energy.
"Aw yeah!" Yang cheered.
"But-" Jaune interjected. "Barath's recklessness also deals 5 damage to Barath himself putting him at 55 energy."
"Wait how does that work?" Yang asked.
"Recklessness is a stat that deals damage to a creature equal to it's amount every time the creature attacks, since Barath had Recklessness 5, he was dealt 5 damage." Ruby explained.
"Well it's my turn now and I'll activate my battlegear, a Liquilizer. By sacrificing it Accato can perform water attacks now." Jaune said as he revealed a card with the image of some sort of gun shooting a freezing blast at a creature on it.
"I'll also use his mugic counter to cast my Battlesong of Renewal, healing Accato 25 damage, bringing him back to 60 energy." Jaune said as Yang gapped.
"Can he do that?!" Yang exclaimed as Jaune nearly completely undid her attack.
"Yep, OverWorld Mugic is some of the best there is when it comes to healing and support." Ruby said. "Just like how UnderWorld Mugic is best at dealing damage."
"Now I'll attack with Rainspears." Jaune said as he played a card with a creature throwing multiple spear shaped projectiles of water at Skreeth. "With both his element and his Wisdom being much higher than 60 it deals a total of 30 damage." he said as Barath was now reduced to 25 energy.
Growling yang drew her card. "I'll use a Flame Orb attack which I think deals 35 damage?" She said as she turned to her sister at the end with a questioning gaze. Ruby nodded to confirm that was the correct amount of damage, reducing Accato to 25 energy and Barath to 20.
"Now I'll use this, Canon of Casualty which deals 20 damage." Yang used Barath's only mugic counter, leaving Accato at 5 energy.
Drawing, Jaune frowned. "I use a Riptide attack dealing 10 damage." Barath was now left with 10 energy.
"Okay now I'll use Ektospasm to deal 5 damage and win the battle." Yang said as Accato was now destroyed and Barath was in his spot on the board.
"Now that you finished the battle you can move your other creatures." Ruby said as Yang moved Pyrithion to Barath's former spot and Kopond to Pyrithion's former spot.
"I'm a natural!" Yang boasted.
"Don't get cocky Yang. One battle doesn't dictate the match." Jaune warned her.
In the Lava Pond Ketacc fired an Ash Torrent at Nivenna who jumped out of the way.
"Not today UnderWorlder!" Aivenna exclaimed as she equipped her Gauntlets of Might and fired a Power Pulse at Ketacc who countered with his own Power Pulse.
"Mineral Mayhem!" Ketacc fired dozens of mineral shards fromhis chest at Aivenna and knocked her away.
Getting up Aivenna jumped into the air and threw multiple Flame Orbs around Kettac and trapped him in a ring of fire.
"Lavalanche!" She slammed her hands on the ground and caused a geyser of lava to burst out from beneath Ketacc and launch him into the air and fall into the lava below and get coded.
Jekyll and Aivenna were back in the Imthor Drome as Aivenna cheered and turned back into Amber.
Jekyll had defeated Heptadd and Accato while Amber defeated Banshor and Ketacc.
"Sorry but your UnderWorld tricks won't stop me." She said.
Jekyll scowled. "We'll see about that." He then spun the randomizer which landed on Rock River Canyon.
"Skreeth attacks Garv!" Jekyll said before transforming into a purple skinned creature that has a lean but strong upper body that ends in a skeletal, serpentine tail. When he opens his mouth, one can only see utter darkness.
Meanwhile, Amber turned into an orange-skinned creature who resembles a hippo/manatee-like creature with large dark markings adorning his shoulders, back and arms. He walks on two legs and often carries a crude staff as a walking stick.
In a large canyon with multiple rock formations and a river running through it Gavr is on the look out when suddenly Skreeth burst out of the water.
"Arborsmash!" Skreeth fired a log from his chest which hit Garv and threw him into a wall.
Garv fired a Delerium at Skreeth who ducked back into the water to avoid it.
Garv then equipped a pyroblaster and began firing at the water to try and hit Skreeth.
However this would prove futile as Skreeth popped out of the water further way.
"Rustoxic!" Skreeth sprayed a corrosive toxin from his mouth at Garv and petrified him.
Skreeth then unleashed a thunder shout at Garv who was sent flying.
Garv then grabbed his battlegear and fired off another shot of fire at Skreeth who hid underwater once more before popping out again.
"Sorry Garv but Skreeth is right at home in wet and watery environments like here and the Everrain." Skreeth said as he fired a Pebblestorm at Garv who managed to endure the attack.
"Terrantula Tackle!" Pieces of stone formed around Skreeth to form a giant stone tarantula which then slammed itself into Garv and coded him.
Back with Ruby, Yang and Jaune it was now Jaune's turn and he was battling Yang's Dardemus in the Riverlands with his Owis.
She had taken out both Accato and Crawsectus but he took out her Magmon.
Jaune had own initiative and revealed his battlegear was a Riverland Star.
"I'll start with a riptide." He said as he reduced Dardemus down to 45 energy.
"I'll use a flameorb to deal 20 damage, plus an extra 5 with the bonus from his Whepcrack to reduce your Owis to 25 energy." Yang said.
"I'll activate Owis' ability and sacrifice his mugic counter to heal 10 damage." Jaune said as Owis was up to 35 energy.
"Now I'll use a Deadwater Devastation attack to deal 30 damage and remove the mugic counters of one of your creatures, and I'll pick Kopond who still has 2." Jaune said as Dardemus was down to 15 energy and Kopond lost his remaining mugic counters.
"Plus thanks to the Riverlands' effect my creature heals 5 energy, and since my Riverland Star has the same effect Owis is healed for yet another 10 energy, bringing him back up to 45." Jaune said.
Frowning since she couldn't use any sort of healing mugic since she had no more mugic counters on any of her creatures, Yang drew a card.
"I'll use flash warp to deal 10 damage." She played her card.
"I use a Flood Force to deal another 15 damage and defeat Dardemus." Jaune said as Dardemus was defeated.
Jekyll and Amber were both down to their last creatures. Nivenna and Aivenna.
Jekyll was spinning the location randomizer.
"The next location is... Gloomuck Swamp."
"Nivenna attacks Aivenna!" Jekyll stated.
"How fitting this is for the battle to decide the match." Amber said as the both transformed.
"Sister vs Sister." Aivenna said.
"UnderWorlder vs OverWorlder." Nivenna added.
Inside her Viledriver, which looked like a platform on 2 mechanical legs with a cannon on each side, Aivenna was moving through the swamp looking for Nivenna.
As she passed by a tree Nivenna jumped out form behind it and hit Aivenna with a Delerium, causing her trouble thinking straight.
Turning around Aivenna tried to hit Nivenna with multiple blasts from the Viledriver's cannons but missed as Nivenna hid back around the tree.
"Come on out Nivenna, neither of us have mugicians left so all we can do is attack!" Aivenna called out.
However the tree suddenly burst apart and Aivenna covered her eyes to block pieces from flying into them and when she looked back she gasped.
Standing where the tree was was a massive robot, the Gigantroper, and at it's feet was a smirking Nivenna with bracers around her arms and legs, indicating she was controlling.
The robot raised it's fist and threw it down at the Aivenna, causing her to jump away and for the Viledriver to get crushed.
Nivenna then threw her arms out and lifted up her fists causing the robot to do the same but it's wrists opened up to reveal barrels which fired a barrage of laser blasts at Aivenna who barely managed to dodge them.
Nivenna then put her fists back down causing the robot's wrists to close and for hatches to open up on it's arms which revealed and fired multiple missiles at Aivenna which coded her.
Back with Ruby her sister and Jaune were down to their last creatures, Pyrithion and Heptadd and Yang was losing.
"And with this Deadwater Devastation Pyrithion is done." Jaune said as he played his attack and defeated Yang's last creature, winning the match.
"Ugh, damnit." Yang groaned.
"Don't feel bad Yang, you did amazing for your first match, especially since me and Ruby have playing for a long time." Jaune complimented.
"He's right yang." Ruby agreed.
"Fine, but next time you're going down Vomit Boy." Yang said.
"Does that mean you want to play the game more?" Ruby questioned with a hopeful look in her eyes.
"Sure, it's been pretty fun so far." Yang shrugged.
"Yeah!" Ruby exclaimed, slightly surprising the other two people there. Noticing the looks she was getting she blushed in embarrassment. "Sorry, just really excited." She said embarassed.
Jekyll was sitting back in the hub eating a pizza when Amber came up to him.
"Hm?" Jekyll hummed when he noticed Amber. "What?" He asked.
"Just wanted to say that was a great match and I'm looking forward to a rematch. But next time I'll win." Amber said determinately.
"Sure but don't think we UnderWorlders will go down easy." Jekyll said.
"You may have won here but next time the valiant OverWorlders will come out on top!" She stated.
"We will see." Jekyll said.
And thus Ruby had managed to get her sister into the game and Jekyll made a new rival.
I partially made this little chapter to start the somewhat slow process of trying to get the other members of team RWBY in Chaotic. But I mainly made it to try and teach some of the basic rules to those who don't know them. I didn't even know them until a while ago.
Also, hypothetical question, if I made a RWBY/Dinosaur king crossover what should it be called?
Also, can you guess where is Amber from?
