Ruby was currently walking through a thick forest towards a large, aqua-colored mountain. Dranakis Threshold, or at least what was left of it.

Flashback...

Ruby was watching a match, normally this wasn't anything out of the ordinary but one of the players was using creatures she's never even heard of before. They looked insane and their attack were even crazier, right now a player was a giant creature that appeared to be made of tar.

Jekyll then walked up to her. "Hey Ruby, what are you watching?" He asked.

"This match with one of the players using crazy creatures that are nothing like I've ever seen, here or in Perim." She said.

Jekyll looked at the screen and smirked.

"Of course you wouldn't find anything like that in modern day Perim." He said.

Ruby whipped her head around to look at him questioningly. "What?" She asked.

"That's Skorblust. A creature from prehistoric Perim." Jekyll said

"Prehistori- Wha-?" Ruby felt her brain shutting down.

"Listen to this, a while back a player had won a match against Codemaster Hotekk and won a location scan of Dranakis Threshold." Jekyll said as he took a seat next to her.

"Dranakis Threshold? Doesn't everyone have that location? Heck, I have 3 of them." Ruby said.

"Yeah, but the thing is this player figured out a secret. It was actually a portal to the past." Jekyll said as Ruby gasped excitedly.

"What?! Really?!" She exclaimed. "What are we waiting for? Lets go-"

"You can't." Jekyll cut her off.

"Wh-what? Why?" Ruby looked sad.

"Because it's not there anymore."

"What?"

"After the player and his friends went to ancient Perim, a certain someone," Jekyll's voice became increasingly strained. "not to name names but he goes by KidChaor, decided to go on streak using nothing but past creatures and spilled the secret. Which then led to Van Bloot finding out and trying to take over ancient Perim and Najarin having to destroy the location."

"They just... Destroyed the entire location?" Ruby asked shocked.

"Yep." Jekyll replied.

"And someone just... revealed the secret just like that?" Ruby asked again.

"KidChaor and yes." Jekyll said. He was still sore about that, especially since he wasn't able to get any ancient scans before Dranakis Threshold blew up.

"Is there anything left of Dranakis Threshold?" Ruby couldn't help but ask.

"Just a giant crater and a bunch of rocks." Jekyll said. "If you want to check it out yourself, go knock yourself out."

Back to the present...

"There it is." Ruby said to herself once the mountain was in sight before walking towards it.

After moving through the forest for a few minutes she came across what looked like some ruins as she stepped on top of a large stone.

"Well, if these aren't the ruins of Dranakis Threshold than I don't know what are." Ruby said as she stepped of the stone.

Walking forward she found what looked like a piece of a stone table and flipped it over. Upon flipping it over she saw the odd markings on it. "Hey, these are Mugic notes!" She said as she recognized the symbol.

"Maybe this has to do with how they were able to travel through time?" Ruby wondered before blinking as she realized something. "I forgot to ask Jekyll if he knew how they were able to time travel!" Ruby rubbed her hair in frustration as she forgot to ask Jekyll just how they were able to open the portal.

Ruby then sat down. "Not like it would really help me now." Ruby sighed.

Ruby then got back up. "I should take a look around the area." She said. "Maybe there was some sort of super cool artifact inside Dranakis Threshold the got free after it was destroyed." Ruby said, becoming a little excited at the idea.

She then wandered into the forest, unaware of the eyes watching her.

Ruby walked deeper into the forest, looking out for any signs of whatever else might remain of Dranakis Threshold when she heard a twig snap and quickly turned around to see what is was.

Upon turning, she saw nothing there before looking around to see if she could spot what made that noise. She pulled out her Scanner just in case she needed to make a quick escape. "Hello?" She called out. "Is there anyone there?" She questioned.

Ruby slowly kept taking careful steps back as she watched out for anything that might be there.

Suddenly something lept out of the bushes next to her, making her fall backwards and causing her scanner to fall out of her hand. The beast that jumped out from the bush looked like some kind of mix between a wolf and a saber-tooth tiger with long tusks. The beast turned it's head and growled at Ruby.

Ruby, upon seeing the beast and the her Scanner was unfortunately behind it, quickly got up and started running and the beast gave chase.

Ruby turned her head to see the beast chasing after her and kept running. She was a really good runner, best of her school's track team, but she wasn't sure she could out run it, nor for how long. Her best bet was to try and lose it and go back to grab her Scanner to port out. She then sees a log further ahead, one end being elevated slightly, and slides under it and continues to run, hoping that it would slow the beast down.

Unfortunately she wasn't in luck as the beast had no problem leaping over and continue it's chase.

Ruby then saw a trench and jumped over it and the beast did the same.

"This isn't working!" Ruby said as she decided to try something different and ran left. She saw another trench and hid down it. The beast chasing her, thinking she went pass it again, jumped over the trench and continued past her.

Ruby smirked as she got up out of the trench and ran back to get her scanner.

However after she started running for a bit she stopped and looked with wide eyes as the beast in front of her again.

"What the-?!" She questioned in shock before hearing the bushes behind her rumble as the beast that was chasing her jumped out of the bushes and her eyes widened even further as she now realized there were two of them.

Both beasts slowly stepped towards her, growling. The on in front of her pounced and Ruby screamed as she closed her eyes and raised her arms to try and protect herself.

But before the beast could touch her, it was blasted away by a stream of water.

Ruby and the other beast were shocked by this as a humanoid creature with blue skin and long, brown hair jumped out and fire a blast in front of the second beast, scaring it away as the one that was blasted before got up and ran away as well.

Ruby fell backwards onto her butt as she breathed out a sigh of relief. The creature then walked up to her. "Are you okay?" They asked.

"O-oh right!" Ruby exclaimed as she got up. "Yeah. Thank you for saving me!" She said.

"It's no problem. It sounded like someone was in trouble so I came to see if I could lend a hand." They said.

"Right, I really needed one." Ruby rubbed the back of her head before remembering something important. "Wait, my Scanner!" She exclaimed.

"You mean this, right?" The creature said as they pulled out Ruby's Scanner.

"My Scanner! You found it!" Ruby said happily as she grabbed her scanner.

"I remember meeting humans a long time ago who talked about how important it is to them. So when I saw it on the ground I thought it would be best if I brought it back to it's owner." The figure said.

"Yeah, Thanks. Again. Oh, right! I'm Ruby Rose, it's nice to meet you!" Ruby introduced herself. She then got a good look at the creature who saved her. They were a teenage male and aside from the blue skin and brown hair, he also had blue eyes and wore some sort of green tunic and boots as well as leather bracers and kneepads that both had fur.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, my name is Afjak." The creature introduced himself.
