Kuri was at Anteiku and Kaneki was watching.
"You seem to know a lot about me," Kuri said.
"You are like me after all. We share the same dream." Kaneki said. "But it's imaginary after all"
Kuri became angry. "It isn't imaginary! I can see it in my destiny, just like you."
"Is that what you want?" Kaneki said.
"It doesn't matter. There's nothing that someone like me could do." Kuri said.
Kuri was drink when she heard a sound of pain from the alley. Kaneki's voice..
Kuri approached him when he transformed into a ghoul to fight one of the ghoubies as the News was calling them. The monster attacked Kuri and she tried to fight it with her quinque but it was too strong.
Kaneki's kagune began to unfold. He started to lose control. "Kuri…you should…go."
Kuri reached for him.
"Don't touch me!" Kaneki said. "If you do, you won't be able to return to a normal life!"
Kuri attacked the monster with a burst of swordfighting, driving it back. "Don't try to save me unless you are willing to see it through to the end, no matter what must be sacrificed!"
"What are you talking about!" Kaneki said. "My HUMANITY is the sacrifice dammit!"
"I know." Kuri said. "That's why I have to protect you from this battle! Go back to Anteiku! Forget everything!"
Kaneki felt a dreamlike sensation wash over him, and his kagune flickered. He could just leave…and keep his humanity…
"But…that's not…" Kaneki staggered, as the monster lunged—
He let his kagune out in a fierce rush and yelled. "THAT'S NOT WHO I AM!"
Kaneki destroyed the monster then advanced on Kuri. "If that's the kind of man I am…then maybe I oughta be a ghoul instead anyway?!"
Unabashed, Kuri took him in her arms. "I would give anything…to not ask this of you. You were my first love. My bookworm. I'm so sorry, Ken."
Wiping her eyes and leaving him dumbfounded, she let go.
"The End is approaching," Kuri said. "There will be more battles, more sacrifices. Can I trust you?"
"Always." Kaneki said, kagune disappearing as he put on his eyepatch..
"We are the only ones who can do this," Kuri said sadly. "I knew you could do it, Kaneki. You are strong, brave and always faithful to your feelings."
"I'm not faithful," Kaneki mumbled. "I'm always running away."
"No," Kuri said. "I know you better than you do because I've always been watching you. I just didn't want you to take the same path I took."
"Don't worry. I will follow you into hell, Kuri."
