Sirius insisted Lux sleep in the boys dorms with them. Remus wasn't quite sure why, but he wouldn't take no for an answer, practically dragging her into their dorms and throwing a spare shirt towards her for her to wear as pajamas.
She slept in his bed.
Remus tried to ignore the nauseous feeling in his stomach as he thought about how that must be, how it must feel to have Lux's limbs wrapped around his, her head nuzzled into his chest, her gentle breathing against him—
But, thinking about Lux was better than thinking about Mathilde, so he kept his mind on her as he drifted off to sleep, curled up in his blankets and pretending she was in his bed instead of Sirius's.
He dreamt of her doing far more than sleeping in his bed, and woke up with an aching hard on.
This only got worse, when he removed himself from his blankets, standing on the wooden floor and stretching his limbs, when his gaze fell upon Lux and Sirius. For some horrible reason that Remus couldn't begin to fathom, they'd kept the curtains that surrounded their bed open, and at some point in the night, the blankets had fallen off of the bed and to the ground. The strain in his pants only got worse when his eyes fell upon Lux's bare legs, her arse only just barely covered by the old Quidditch jersey she wore.
"You alright, Moons?" He heard James murmur from his bed, clearly just waking up.
"Yup." Remus responded a little too quickly, whipping around to look at James, who was struggling to fit his glasses onto his face. When his vision likely cleared up, his brown eyes grew wide as they narrowed in on the tent in his trousers.
"Bloody hell, Moony…" He breathed, glancing between him and Lux's exposed legs. "Shit." He stumbled to his feet, staggering to keep himself upright as he grabbed onto Remus's upper arm, and without so much as a word of explanation, dragged him into the loo attached to their dorms.
"What do you want?" Remus groaned, running a hand through his hair. He knew exactly where this was going, but maybe feigning innocence would work somehow.
"Don't play dumb, Remus. It doesn't suit you." He shook his head. "You have a hard on for Lux — don't deny it, I saw you looking at her."
"Just because I was looking at her doesn't mean I'm…you know…because of her."
James raised his eyebrows. "Yeah? So you're horny because of Sirius, then?"
"No, of course not! Fuck, I just…she has nice legs, okay?"
"She's your best mate's girlfriend!"
"I know that! Fuck, you don't think I know that?"
"Kissing her was bad enough, and that was before those two were together." James continued to lecture. "You can't be into Lux, you just can't. Not after the massive fuss you've been making about her. That would be so fucking hypocritical."
"I'm not into her, James." Remus sighed, unsure if his words were a lie or not. He was attracted to her on a physical level, he had to admit that to himself, at least, but emotionally…he hadn't a clue. How could he be, after everything? James was right, he'd put up such a stink about Lux for so long, he couldn't suddenly backpedal and fancy her. Especially not when Sirius was head over heels for her. "I just…I don't know. Can we not tell Sirius about this? Please?"
"Fine." James let out a breath. "I won't tell Sirius. But whatever you're feeling, you need to get over it. Understood?"
Remus nodded, though as he did, he realized he hadn't a clue how to go about navigating this bubbling attraction, let alone get rid of it.
"You're sure it was Snape?" Sirius asked, running a hand through Lux's hair as she ranted about what had occurred between her and the greasy boy on the train, and in the courtyard before that. "Does anybody else know? Anyone that knew both that you were a vampire, and were going to be at the Potters over Christmas?"
She shook her head, from where it was resting on his chest. Only a few days had passed since the attack at the Potter home, and Lux had barely left Sirius's bed since, only on the occasion to feed in the forest. Otherwise, she'd been in such a depressive state, she'd hardly moved. "No, no, just Snape. It had to have been him, that somehow told the Coven. I don't know how he would've found out about them, but I suppose if he did enough digging, found the right resources, he could've come across something. I just…God, Sirius, I feel so stupid. I should've told someone the moment he threatened me."
"You have nothing to feel stupid about, Luxie. You didn't know what he would do." Sirius insisted. "It's going to be okay. We'll get back at him."
"How?" She gulped. Revenge was something she was all too familiar with, but she'd learned that sometimes, it led to horrible consequences, that they'd have to live with for the rest of their lives.
"I'll find a way. Don't worry about it. I'll make sure he never thinks about touching Lux Erzsebet ever again."
Then, for the first time since their relationship began, Lux initiated a kiss, removing her head from his chest and leaning up, planting a soft kiss on his lips.
Sirius grinned against her touch, reaching around and placing his hands behind her head to pull her close, keeping her pressed against him. "God, you're gorgeous." He murmured against her, breaking apart ever so slightly.
Lux responded by kissing him harder, moaning when his hands found their way into her hair, and digging into her scalp. "Fuck." She breathed. "Keep doing that."
"Pulling your hair?" He frowned.
She nodded. "Yeah, that. And just being rough. Please."
He blinked, evidently confused, but eventually, a smirk slid onto his lips. "Your wish is my command, Luxie."
He kissed her again, this time with more passion, and she took the opportunity to swing her legs over him, so she was on top of him, straddling him with her thighs as she leaned down with her lips pressed against his.
Her dead heart raced — she knew what she was doing, where this would lead, but for some reason, she craved it. Typically, the idea of sleeping with anyone filled her throat with bile, but she trusted Sirius, and she knew he could make her feel good. Maybe, just maybe, it could help her have a good relationship with sex again, and get over what happened with Philip once and for all.
"Luxie…are you…" Sirius leaned away from her, eyeing her up and down from his position underneath her. "Do you want to…?"
She nodded. "Please."
"Okay." He breathed, his hands finding their way under her shirt, and yanking it off of her. "Tell me if you want me to stop."
"I will."
He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "I'll be gentle, I promise."
She shook her head. "Don't be. I want it rough."
Sirius's eyebrows jumped up. "Okay. I'll be whatever you want from me, Lux Erzsebet."
"I'm in love." Was the first thing that Sirius said, as Peter stepped into their dorms, later that night. Lux had left to do whatever it is Lux did in her spare time, leaving Sirius alone, contemplating their time together for a solid four hours, before Peter had finally returned from chess club.
In that time, Sirius had come to the conclusion that he was, in fact, in love with Lux Erzsebet. Had he known her long? No. But the heart wants what it wants, and he was certain that she was the one for him, the one he wanted to spend the rest of his days with, vampire or not.
"In love?" Peter raised an eyebrow, as he shut the door behind him shut, and stepped towards the bed that Sirius was lounged on, propping himself up with his elbows. "With Lux, I assume."
"No, I'm in love with your mum."
"Don't even joke about that." Peter gagged, grabbing a pillow off of his own bed and chucking it at Sirius. He didn't even bother dodging it, and it hit him square in the face. "I mean, I'm not surprised. You've obsessed with the girl — we all knew if you'd gotten together, it wouldn't be long before you're dropping the L-word."
"She's perfect." Sirius gushed. "God, I just…I don't know how to describe her other than perfect."
"She's far from perfect, Padfoot, you're just too lovesick to see it."
"She's perfect." He insisted.
"She's a vampire." Peter emphasized.
"So what? You said yourself that you trusted her, after she saved all our lives. Who cares what she is?"
"Mate, I don't mean it like that." He ran a hand through his hair as he took a seat at the edge of Sirius's bed. "I don't mean to say she's a vampire as an insult. I mean…you're going to grow old. You're going to want a family. And she's always going to be sixteen."
"I don't care."
"Yes, you do."
Sirius bit down on the side of his cheek. "I love her, Wormy. I do. And if that means we have an…unconventional relationship, then that's fine by me. I mean, look around us. The world is full of strange people and strange things. Her and I, we can make it."
"You want kids, Sirius. You've said so yourself."
"We can adopt."
"And then what happens when the child grows up, and Lux is still sixteen? A sixteen year old with a thirty year old child?" Peter ran a hand through his sandy blonde hair. "Pads, I'm not trying to be mean, I'm not. I just want you to look at this clearly. Is it worth the heartbreak that you will inevitably experience?"
"She's worth it." Sirius insisted, though his voice wavered as he spoke.
He pressed his lips together, letting out a sharp breath through his nose. "Right. Well, it's your funeral, mate. Don't come crying to me when this goes down in flames." He patted him on the knee.
"It won't. I know it won't. Love is powerful, Wormtail. Maybe it's even powerful enough to keep us together, no matter what."
"Whatever you say." Peter shrugged, before biting down on his lip, and lowering his voice. "Speaking of Lux…does she know?"
"Know…?"
"About Moony."
"Oh, no, God no." Sirius shook his head rapidly. "That's for Remus to tell, not me. She doesn't need to know, unless Remus wants her to find out."
"I think you can trust her, if you do tell her."
"Maybe."
"The moon is in a few days." Peter began. "Are you ready for it?"
At the mention of the full moon coming up, Sirius grinned, as an idea struck him, so sudden and big he nearly fell over from the weight of it. An idea perfect for getting back at Snape, to teach him never to mess with the girl he loved. Snape would never get away with it, never again. He'd nearly gotten them all killed, and he'd pay brilliantly for it. "I'm always ready, Pete."
Lux had long forgotten what it felt like — the feeling of falling for somebody. It was as though she was physically at the edge of a cliff, waiting for the final blow, a shove or even a rough gust of wind, to send her toppling over into the abyss of what could be love.
She didn't love Sirius Black, not yet, anyways, but she knew she was coming close to it. Sleeping together had only made her feelings stronger for him, intensifying in between the passionate movements they shared in his dorm room.
It had been so long since she'd felt this way. The only man who had come close to what she had with Elias was Han Solo, and he didn't even exist. The made up scenarios in her head could only get so far, after all. And while no one would ever be Elias, perhaps Sirius could be what she needed. Even if they lacked the flaming passion, the pure intimacy, it was simple, gentle, and she liked it.
"Luxie," A voice approached her, and she didn't have to look up from her book to know who had spoken.
"Hello, Sirius." She nodded.
"What are you reading?" He circled around the chair she was curled up on, leaning over the back to peer at the book.
"My Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook. I'm falling behind, so I ought to refresh my mind on it."
"You're falling behind in the class your father is teaching? Well, basically your father."
"Somehow, yes. I suppose I've been distracted with...well…" She glanced up at him, a smirk tugging at her lips. "Is there something you want?"
"Do I have to want anything? Can't I just talk to my girlfriend?"
She raised an eyebrow.
"Right, right. I've found a way to get back at Snape. Scare him off of ever hurting you."
"You have me intrigued." She tilted her head to the side.
"I know a werewolf."
She blinked, certain she hadn't heard him right. It almost sounded like he'd said… "A what?"
"A werewolf." He repeated, grinning. "I've set him on Snape. It should be happening right now — he's about to get the scare of a lifetime."
"You…you did what?" She rose to her feet, dead heart pounding as she stumbled to keep her footing. "Sirius, tell me you're joking."
"I'm not joking. Snape tried to have us all killed! Luxie, it's payback! It's a scare, nothing bad will actually happen, as long as Snape's got his wits about him."
Lux shook her head rapidly, bile rising in her throat. "James…I need to find James. He'll know what to do. Shit, James?!" She cried out, rushing towards the boys dorms, where she had last seen him enter. "James!" She stumbled up the stairs, nearly tripping over her feet as she trembled, eventually reaching the door and shoving it open.
"What?" He frowned, looking up from where he was sprawled across his bed, playing with a golden snitch, tossing it back and forth between his hands. When he met her gaze, his eyes darkened, clearly able to sense something was very, very wrong. "What's happened? Lux, are you okay?"
"Sirius is trying to kill Snape!"
"What?!" He and Peter shouted in unison, Peter falling off of his bed in the process.
"He…he set a werewolf on him. He says he knows a werewolf, and that he's tricked Snape into finding it…I don't know anything else!"
"Oh Merlin, Sirius, he didn't…" James went as pale as Lux imagined she was, jumping onto his feet. Peter was shortly behind him, breathing heavy.
"Oh God, this is going to get Remus killed." Peter muttered, more to himself than to anyone else.
"Remus — what does this have to do with Remus?" Lux demanded, though she got no answer as James and Peter both shoved past her, running down the stairs, where Sirius was hovering at the landing, shifting his weight from foot to foot uncertainly, like a child waiting for their punishment from a parent.
"What the fuck, Sirius?" James demanded, face flushed. "No, no, don't explain. You can do that later. Tell me what you did, now! We need to fix this before Remus kills that son of a bitch!"
"I…I told him how to get past the tree." Sirius sputtered. "Prongs, do you think—"
"Fuck!" James cut him off with a loud roar, before racing towards the portrait hole, Peter at his tail. Lux struggled to follow behind — why, she hadn't a clue, but something inside her told her that if this involved Remus in any way, she needed to be there. She needed to help him, to save him like he'd saved her, even if it meant facing a werewolf.
She reached into the pocket of her robe, thankful when her fingers met the wood of her wand, and yanked it out. Now armed, she continued to follow the two boys out of the castle, running towards where? She hadn't a clue, but she continued anyways, until she spotted a dark figure standing just outside the reach of the Whomping Willow, wand aimed at the tree, as though preparing to curse it.
"Immobulus!" The figure cried, in an all to familiar voice.
"Snape!" James cried out, breaking out from a run and into a full on sprint. Either they were too far away to be heard, or Snape was ignoring him, as he didn't react at all, instead stepping towards the tree, and pressing against some sort of knob with his hand. "Snape, stop!"
"Snape!" Lux screamed as loud as she could, her breath shallow from all the running, as they approached the tree. "Snape, you need to run—"
This time, he turned to look at them, frowning. "What the fuck do you think you're doing here, Erzsebet?" He spat. "Come to drink my blood?"
"Snape, you need to get out of here!" She was yards away from him now, and finally slowed her running, just as James and Peter did. "Snape, listen to me, there's a werewolf, and—"
Her desperate plea was cut off by Peter screaming. "Fuck, Lux, Snape, run!" He cried out, stumbling backwards, before…transforming into a rat? Yes, the boy was no longer there, and instead in the grass, a rat was frantically squeaking.
Lux followed where Peter's gaze had just been, towards the tree, where a beast stood proud within a newly formed doorway, teeth bared and eyes fixed directly on Snape.
"Snape!" James shouted, running over towards the boy and tugging on his robe. "Come on, mate, we got to go!"
Snape seemed too stunned to move, simply standing there, eyes wide as the wolf approached him.
Then, in that moment, Lux realized, with a sinking feeling in her heart. Remus was the wolf.
Lux shouldn't care, she shouldn't give a damn about the boy who had sold her out to vampires, and truthfully, she didn't. But she did care about Remus, in some sick, twisted way, and she knew for a fact that if he mauled Severus Snape to death, he'd never forgive himself, nor would he be pardoned by the Ministry. They'd have him put down like a rabid dog, just as they would do to Lux.
So, she did the only thing she could think of. She shouted his name.
"Remus! Over here, Remus!"
The wolf turned his attention towards her, yellow eyes narrowing at her, and fangs bared.
"Lux, what the fuck are you doing?" James cried out, as she aimed her wand at him.
"Stupify!" She shot the spell at him through shaky hands, but the wolf dodged it. With an almost graceful sort of speed, the wolf pounced onto her, claws digging into her shoulders as he leapt onto her body, knocking her into the grass. Her wand slipped out of her grasp, rolling out of arms reach.
Then, before she could do anything to stop it, before she could so much as lift a hand to prevent it, the wolf's teeth dug into her shoulder.
