Son of Proserpina:

Chapter 03: Mayhem in DM (Divine Meeting)

Olympus, 21.06.1979

The holy city Olympus, present on the 600th floor of the Empire State building, was fitted from head to toe in pure white marble, the city walls giving out a divine ambience, just like the beings that resided within it.

The crown jewel of the city was its palace. It was decked with several intricate designs, mosaics and several tapestries depicting the myths the benevolent beings that roamed its halls. The Throne Room sat in the dead center of the majestic palace.

The room usually was now mostly used for parties, celebrations and other such lavish activities, except for two days throughout the year. You see today was one such day as it was the day, during which the half-yearly Olympian Council takes place. The Olympians Council always occurs during two days, the summer and Winter Solstices. And as it was, today happen to be the Summer Solstice.

At the center of the pearly white room, sat the hearth. If people payed close attention to it, they might see an eight year old girl tending it, to always keep it ablaze. The room was currently decked with twelve different thrones, each with a unique design of its own.

Each throne towering at a height of 15ft each, easily dwarfing any mortals, making them look like tiny puppies compared to them. There were two throne at the head, followed by the others on either side of those, around the hearth. The first throne to the left of the head thrones, it was woven with apple-tree branches, wheat and dried grass and the seat had a small yellow cushion.

At the base of this majestic throne, there sat a smaller throne. It was woven with pomegranate-shrub branches, with a hint of asphodels and it was cushioned with a comfy purple pillow. And there in all her divine glory sat Persephone.

The queen of the underworld was anxious, going over the speech she had prepared with the help of her mother for the umpteenth time. Many may think that her mother would be biggest hurdles that may come in her way to achieving her plan.

But that did not seem to be the case. As soon as she had told her mother what she was planning, her mother had immediately agreed to help her any way possible. Her mother was giddy with joy and excitement bubbling inside her after listening to Persephone's plan.

So here she was going through her speech. After waiting for some time, irritation slowly started to creep into her face, as she had been waiting there for quite some time and the Olympians were taking their own sweet time to show up.

Her brooding was interrupted with a bright flash of light. As the light subsided it revealed the elegant form of her mother, Demeter. Who quickly enveloped her daughter in a hug. Demeter whispered some words saying, that she will definitely help her with the upcoming proceeding with the council. After releasing her daughter from the hug, she grew to her godly height and took her rightful on her throne.

And soon after one by one the Olympians slowly started to drag in their derriere to the council meeting. Small chit-chats started in the throne room, then suddenly a loud thunder echoed across the room, followed by a flash of lightning. Which bolted directly on the empty head throne, startling the beings sitting on the thrones next to it. A second later, on the king's throne sat the god of dramatics, Lord Zeus, God of Thunder, and King of Olympus and unfortunately for Persephone, her father.

After her father's flashy entry, all the chattering seemed to stop, though most of them not in a way of showing respect but of annoyance. People would think the gods had gotten used to his flair to dramatics by now, but even after four millennia it still irritated them.

"Let the 4979th Summer Solstice session of the Olympian council begin!" thundered Zeus, with pompousness in his voice. And that was the point at which Persephone started zoning out as the mortals would call it.

She did this because, she knew what was going to follow. She had attended few of the Winter Solstice meetings with her husband, as it was the only time he was allowed on Olympus.

That was because the winter solstice was the darkest day of the year. 'They portray him as if he was the most evil being after grandfather. Once you get to know him and earn his trust he is one of the softest and wonderful person I have ever met. He may look all rough and tuff on the outside, but he is a big softy on the inside' thought Persephone, a small smile gracing her lips at the thought of her husband. But we are going off the tangent here. Back to the meeting.

Once her father declares the start of the meeting, it quickly descends into petty bickering match among the gods. All that occurs in this time is that each gods boast about their recent accomplishments (which mostly consists of their children's deeds) which get rebuffed by another god or goddess and que in the bickering. The most highly debated topic during most the meeting throughout the years were between her father and her uncle Lord Poseidon, which consisted of the following topic, who was mother Rhea's favorite? And which natural disaster was more dangerous, land or air?

A slight tap on the shoulder, brought Persephone out of her musings. She looked up to see her mother, pointing towards her uncle and father, whom looked like they were about to end an argument.

"… And I henceforth conclude that the storms I have caused the previous year, has caused more destruction than any of your measly floods or tsunami's dear brother. This is not up to debate and that is final. Now does anyone has any topic to put forth for discussion by the council?" her father questioned. Though her uncle looked like he was about to start an argument once again, Persephone ceased the opportunity to put her plan into motion.

"I do, Lord Zeus." Everyone's head whipped around to see Persephone at the base of her mother's throne. "Ah, yes Persephone. Demeter told me that you will be attending today's council. What do you want to request the council dear daughter?" asked Zeus, as his electric blue eyes met with Persephone's emerald green.

"Yes father. I do have something to discuss with the council, but not in this form" said Persephone. As she said this she slowly started shifting into Proserpina, and the other gods followed suite. After all of them finished shifting,

"Now you may put forth your request to the council, daughter" said Jupiter with an authoritative voice. All of them now sported a more regal appearance than their previous form.

"Thank you father, but for this discussion to continue my husband must also be present because, since he plays a vital role in the request I am about to make to the council" said Proserpina, she knew she was now testing her father's patience, due to the animosity between her husband and father.

Her father's body was twitching with lightning sparks every now and then seeping out of him, as his electric gaze almost burned a whole through the marble floor in front of him. "You better have a very good reason for this daughter. Requesting to allow your husband to come to a Summer Solstice meeting. If it is not good enough reason, you shall be suffering my wrath" said Jupiter, while gritting his teeth.

He whipped his head towards the male side of the council. "Mercury, go and summon Lord Pluto to come to the council meeting, and tell him to be present here within the next 5 minutes" he said. To which Lord Mercury gave a curt nod, and zipped out of the throne room.

The following next five or so minutes was the most anxious moments Proserpina had experienced in her entire immortal life. Her slow descent into anxiety was quickly stopped with the arrival of her half-brother. Whom was soon followed into the throne room by her husband, as he emerged out of the shadows.

"This better not be one of your moves to get back throne in this council through your wife, brother. If it comes to that, you will not like the results" said Jupiter, anger seeping through his voice.

"Oh worry not, dear brother. I am as much as clueless as you are. My dear wife has been planning on making some request to this dear council of yours since the start of spring. But she did not disclose anything to me, since what did you call it dear, ah yes, she said that I will be in for a big surprise" said Pluto, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he addressed the King of Olympus.

Since it looked like no one was going to provide him with a seat, Pluto summoned a throne for himself, with a small throne attached to it. As he seated himself on the throne he summoned, he was immediately joined by Proserpina who seated herself at the throne attached with her husband's.

"Very well, since now that everyone is comfy and cozy. Proserpina at least now can you state your request you have to make to the council or will you have to call all the minor gods and nature spirits that exist on this realm?" asked Jupiter, his voice dripping with sarcasm. When Pluto was about to make retort for insulting his wife, he was stopped by Proserpina, as she once again stood from her throne and cleared her throat,

"Thank you father, for your kind consideration, but summoning other gods and nature spirits will not be required for this meeting. As I go through my explanation, I humbly request the council not to interrupt in between my explanation" stated Proserpina. After receiving nods from the council members, some reluctant, mostly her father. Proserpina explained everything.

"On the twilight hours of the Spring Equinox, I was returning to mother's palace after the duration of my stay with my husband, who was escorting me from his palace to mother's. While we were on our way, we were interrupted by someone was summoning me.

This was not a prayer from mortals or summon from any of the gods. This was something different, this was not something that I had felt for nearly a millennia. So I decided to check who it was summoning me during that unholy hour. To which my dear husband decided to tag along, in case something dangerous happened.

But to our surprise nothing dangerous or with ill-intentions had summoned us, it was just a mortal married couple. Or so we thought at first glance. As we inspected the surrounding we found out these were not an ordinary couple, but they were one from the community of Trivia's blessed mortals.

We found out that they summoned us using a ritual they found in a book, they had received from a dear friend of theirs, in the pretense that it was a fertility ritual. You see there is a civil war currently taking place within the magical community.

The mortal couple who had summoned us, were some the ones fighting in the front lines in this war, during which both of them had been cursed to be barren. They both are only 19yrs old. When we asked why they had married at such a young age since we knew that those of Trivia's blessed had increased life span than that of ordinary mortals.

They said both of them feared that they may lose their lives in the war and want to live their life to fullest, and if they had a chance to have a child they would have it. I was moved by the love and devotion they had for each other. And their desire to have a child of their own intensified it.

But seeing them so much in love with one another and their desire to have a child, stirred something in me that has not occurred to me in the several centuries I have roamed this realm.

The desire to have a child of my own. During the entirety of the 3 millennia of my mirage with Pluto never once did I have the urge to have a child. But upon seeing them like that, my urge to have a child skyrocketed that evening.

But I will not be unfaithful to my husband, like many in this council to their spouses and even on rare occasions, my husband himself. So I decided if I can make a few changes in the fertility blessing, I can make the child be the son of both the mortal couple and Pluto and me.

I also wanted the child to be the son of both our aspects, so that he may be powerful enough to end their war. That is my request father. I want to bless this mortal couple with the child of both Pluto and myself. I have so longed to have a child of my own. I humbly request that you heed to my request and grant it father." finished Proserpina with a slight bow.

As she looked up at the council, each of them had varying reactions. Lord Bacchus was asleep, a wine magazine covering his face. Lords Vulcan was fidgeting with one of his new inventions, Lord Mercury has in a heated debate with someone on his caduceus phone.

Lord Apollo was listening to music on his newly released Walkman. Lord Mars' face was indecisive. Moving her gaze away from her half-brothers, she saw her uncle who nodded his head, motioning that he will support her endeavor. She already knew her uncle would support because she knew he was one the die-hard romantics in the council.

Turning to the women's side of the council. She saw Lady Diana give her a nod. Lady Venus was bubbling with excitement, she was the goddess of love after all. Her mother gave her a gentle smile. Lady Minerva was deep in thought, most likely thinking how to best cancel her request, most likely quoting 'an unknown danger to the Olympian throne' she thought.

The reaction that surprised her the most was that of her Aunt/Step-mother Lady Juno, who also gave her a nod of support. This took Proserpina by surprise, since her aunt usually hated anything related to children born out of her husband's infidelity. Then it clicked to her that she told them that the mortals were a married couple, whom came under her aunt's domain of marriage.

She turned around to see her husband's reaction. He was completely flabbergasted to say the least. Words formed in his mind but nothing escaped his lips. And when finally caught sight of her looking at him, he gave her a questioning glance. To which she gave him an innocent but also cheeky smile.

And last but most definitely not the least she turned to see her beloved father's reaction. What she saw did not surprise her in the slightest, she had already guessed something like this will most likely occur.

'Ha, he will most likely thinks that his is one of my husband's so called evil machinations, that we are asking to have this child to overthrow him from his position as the king.' Thought Proserpina bitterly.

"No. I will not let this happen Proserpina. I think I know every well that this is your husband's plan to overthrow me as king. By having this child, whom will be neither god, nor a demigod who is not bound by any of the ancient laws I have put forth. Did you think I will not see through your lies of love?" roared Jupiter. Quickly standing from his throne to reach his master bolt.

Pluto immediately responded by quickly standing up himself. He also took his bi dent. But before things could escalate, Proserpina intervened. "Please father, me and my husband no such thoughts. He himself didn't know anything about my request up until this moment. He himself has not come out of the shock from the information I have given him just now. We would never wish to dethrone you father. Please let us have this child father" Proserpina begged her father.

"That's all well and good now Lady Proserpina. But what if later down the road, if his father asks him to do anything untoward of what the council approves? What will happen then?" asked Minerva. Who had remained quiet up until this point, ceased her chance.

"Please father, I will make sure that he does not do anything that goes against any of the council's decision. And if you want, when he is old enough I will make him swear on the Styx not do anything that goes against the council's decision" said Proserpina.

"No Proserpina. That is my final decision. There are many external factors that may affect this. What if later down the road you or your dear husband change your mind about the oath? Then what will happen to us? He is already under an oath to not sire anymore demigod children. By doing this he will also break that oath. No. That is my final say. Nothing more, nothing less" boomed Jupiter.

Proserpina was about to once more plead to make her father see sense, but before she could do anything, the entire throne room was plunged into darkness. And that was when utter pandemonium broke loose in the throne room. Each deities sprouting profanities about one another.

After what seemed a few minutes of non-stop cussing from the gods and goddesses, the light returned to the throne room. As the darkness receded everyone was shocked to see the beings who sitting in front of them in a larger recliner sofa.

"And that's where you are wrong my dear king. You are not an all-powerful being. They are still beings that roam this realm, that will make you pale in comparison to them. We do have a say in what will occur with the birth of this child. And even if we could not intervene the decision must be made after the request is put on vote to the council. Are we clear?" three voices chorused.

All the deities were too stunned to speak. It is not every day that the Ladies Parcae visit you. After a few minutes of stunned silence, Jupiter of all gods found his. "Ah yes, I will keep that in mind, my ladies. But what pleasure does the Olympian council owe to be in the presence of Ladies Parcae, Daughters of Nox?" asked Jupiter, bowing his head down as a sign of respect.

"Flattery doesn't work on us my king. The reason we are here is the discussion that you have currently going on. Turn of this millennia is fast approaching. At the beginning of the upcoming millennia you, the Olympian will have to face many hardships.

Many of your enemies who are either slumbering or long forgotten will start to rise. For Olympus to survive and see any upcoming threat, the birth of the child of Pluto and Proserpina is absolutely necessary." intoned the Parcae.

"Excuse me for interrupting my ladies. But what if his loyalties sway to the other side if they make a suitable proposition that may suite this child's needs. What if he betrays Olympus my ladies?" asked Minerva. Still with the aim to eradicate the possibility of such a child being born.

"To have the child's loyalty Olympians, first you must show it, why must it be loyal to you, if your only aim use it for your selfish purposes and throw it away after it has done all your work. No, show it the benefits and reasons for why it must be loyal to you. Then only will you gain its trust, and therefore it's loyalty" said the Parcae. To which both Jupiter and Minerva nodded their heads, not willing to incur the wrath of the Fates upon them.

"We are about to tell some of the details that are available to us about this child if it will be born. But the final decision whether the child is allowed to be born or not are up to the council to decide and not one being. Is that understood?" questioned the Parcae. Once every one shook their heads, the Parcae continued,

"Now that is over, one to the child. Now since the child will have two deities as parents, its body will mostly contain ichor, with minute traces of blood in its veins and will posses features and powers of deities. But since the child will also be having mortals has parents, it will have to burn of the small of blood within its veins to ascend to godhood. The ascension to Godhood will mostly likely occur within its 14th-16th birthday. But if it is mortally wounded within this period, it will die. So far, so good?" asked the Parcae. After receiving affirmative nods they continued,

"This child will also be special in a unique way. Because it will have a soulmate, no god or goddess has had a soulmate in the entirety of existence. It will have to find its soulmate before reaching his majority. Its soulmate, may be a deity, a demigod, one of Trivia's blessed, or even a mortal, but for him to stay alive its soulmate also must be offered godhood, even if it is a mortal. Since it is said, soulmates form two halves of a whole. And if one dies the other will follow suite, no matter their divinity." said the Parcae.

At the news of her unborn child will have a soulmate, caused Proserpina inexpressible amount of joy. But she also felt a small amount of fear creep into her heart, since if her child's soulmate passed on, so will her child. She turned to see her husband's reaction, she was relived to see that he had a small smile on his pale face. Since she thought that he may have felt hurt and fear for her suddenly springing this situation up onto him without discussing it with him.

"But there are few things that even we that fates cannot see clearly. Like the child's gender or who the child's soulmate will be. But one thing we know for sure is that there will be a prophecy about it, it will be the deciding factor to end the war of Trivia's blessed community, and it will be hailed as the savior of the magical community. Now, we have given you all the details and possibilities we know that could happen if the child is born. But the decision is up to the council to decide whether the child lives or not" finished the Parcae.

As they said this the room was once again enveloped by darkness, which after a second it receded, revealing that the Parcae had left the vicinity. Once they all composed themselves. Lord Jupiter intoned,

"Very well, as the Parcae have stated the fate of this child will be decided by the vote put forth to the council. All those in favor of not letting the child not be born. Raise your hands" said Jupiter.

And immediately lifted his hand to vote in favor of the decision he put forth, immediately followed by his beloved daughter Minerva. They waited to see if any others supported them. Lord Bacchus, who had just woken from his long nap, at seeing his father raised hand, followed suite. When no others lifted their hands, Jupiter let out a breath of exasperation,

"Very well, Proserpina and Pluto, since majority of the council did not vote for the death of the child. The council has decided that the child will be birthed into this world. Your request to have the child is granted. Since no one has any further business, the COUNCIL IS DISMISSED" boomed Jupiter, and with a bang of his master bolt, signaled that he had left the vicinity.

And slowly one by one each of the gods and goddesses started to leave. Some like Neptune, Venus, Apollo, Diana and most surprising of all Juno came and wished Proserpina and Pluto best of luck with the baby.

After almost all had left, they shifted back to their first aspects. Demeter came towards them and pulled in Persephone for a hug. After hugging the living daylights out of her daughter, she released her.

"You better bring my grandchild for regular visits to its grandma dear. And tell the mortal couple to which the baby will be born to feed him a lot of cereal to make him strong" said Demeter to her daughter. At Persephone's side Hades rolled his eyes at his sister/mother-in-law's obsession with cereal.

"And you, brother. Better take care of the child properly. And oh yeah congratulations to you too" said Demeter, starting with stern tone but ending with somewhat awkward voice. And Demeter awkwardly shook her brothers hand. And immediately bolted the vicinity.

Both Persephone and Hades shook their heads at their mother/sister's antics. They turned to each other, gave each other a small smile, they interlocked their hands and headed towards the hearth their final destination for the day.

"Aunt Hestia", "Sister", they both said at the same time, addressing the 9yr old girl tending to the hearth. To which she tilted her head towards them and gave both of them a big smile. Standing up from her place, she pulled both of them into a hug.

"It seems congratulations are order. All the very best both of you on having this child. Take very good care of it. And if it's not bother, bring it sometimes to visit its aunt" said Hestia still with a smile on her face.

"Of course sister. How come a child grow without knowing about their father's favorite sister or their mother's favorite aunt. Of course we will bring it to visit you" said Hades, to which Persephone nodded her head in consent.

After saying their goodbyes to Hestia, both of them exited the throne room. Once they exited it, Hades pulled Persephone in for kiss. Even after three millennia of marriage, he still couldn't get enough of his wonderful wife. Once they pulled apart,

"I still can't believe this is actually happening and you pulled of such a stunt like that with my brother, Persephone. You have given me the best gifts a husband could ever ask for" said Hades with a megawatt smile on his face.

It may look unnatural to outsiders, but to Persephone it was on the greatest sights in her life to see her husband smile like this. Hades continued "You must convince your mother to come with you to the underworld on the Autumnal Equinox. Because on that day I am going to hold an Underworld council meeting to announce that we are going to have a child. And we announce to the Underworld that they are soon going to have their prince or princess among them" said Hades.

"Alright dear. I will convince her to come with me. And don't forget to IM me every night before going to sleep, alright. See you soon" said Persephone. And with one final chaste kiss on the lips, she left to go to her mother's palace.

"See you soon dear, see you soon indeed" murmured Hades to himself. Slowly he was engulfed by shadows. A moment later now where the King of the Underworld stood, were nothing but dust particles.

Authors Notes: Hi everyone. As I said before, my school is currently conducting revision exams. I am trying to write the stories in the free time I get. So there may be some inconsistencies in the uploading schedule. And I also noticed some of the grammatical errors I have in the previous 2 chapters. And from this chapter onward I am trying very hard to reduce the mistakes so bear with me hear. And please leave behind any reviews you have to make about this fic. If you like it follow it. Thank you for reading. And Bye…;)
