Marinette's father was teaching Miss Bustier's class how to make pastries.
"I'll let you in on a little secret," he said as he poured a bit of cream into the mixture. "I always add cream to the chocolate to make the ganache extra velvety. Then I let infuse for one minute."
"I love it when your dad comes to class and gives us pastry lessons!" Alya whispered to Marinette as she recorded everything.
"So does he!" Marinette chuckled.
"It's just a shame that I can't watch him work his magic, but it is fascinating to hear," said Jack.
"Urgh! Do they seriously think I'm going to get my hands dirty, cooking like some maid?" Chloé grumbled. "If I want a croissant, I'd just make my butler get it for me."
"He's not making croissants, Chloé. Those are macarons!" said Rose.
"It's all done with a flick of the wrist," said Tom as he began to mix the mixture. "But you mustn't go too fast, or you might splash yourself!"
"And soil my Chenal pants? Who's he kidding?" said Chloé.
Tom then showed them the finished mixture. "Look at this lovely emulsion."
"It's beautiful!" said Rose.
"And it smells pretty good, too," said Jack.
While everyone was preoccupied looking at the mixture, Chloé made her way to the corner. Marinette then noticed that she began dialling someone and whispered.
"Now we need to chill it for half an hour," said Tom, looking at his daughter. "Marinette?"
"Yes, Dad?" she said quickly, looking at him.
"Could you put this in the school cafeteria fridge for me, please?" he asked, handing her the bowl. "In the meantime, I'm going to show your friends how to whip up egg whites!"
"Of course!" Marinette nodded.
She then left the classroom, and Tikki flew out of a person looking at the mixture with a hungry look.
"Mmm, can I get a taste?" she asked.
"Not yet, Tikki. Control that sweet tooth of yours," said Marinette poking her.
Tikki giggled, but then suddenly, the fire alarms went off.
"Hide, Tikki!" Marinette hissed.
Tikki quickly dived into Marinette's jacket just seconds before the rest of the class exited the classroom.
"Quietly, students," said Miss Bustier as she led everyone into the courtyard. "Single file line, please. Just keep moving."
As Chloé passed Marinette, she glared at her and she narrowed her eyes back.
"I hope it's only a fire drill," said Tom as he was still mixing the egg whites.
Marinette had a feeling that it was not a drill, nor was there a fire.
Marinette's prediction proved true as it turned out to be a false alarm, and someone had called the fire brigade under false pretence.
"So, some smart aleck had the bright idea of calling the fire department," said Principal Damocles, much to everyone's shock. "Somebody amongst us thought it would be funny to waste the fire captain's valuable time."
"Yes, in fact, if you wouldn't mind, I…" said the fireman as he began to leave.
Principal Damocles stopped him. "Hold on! I want the guilty party to apologise to you."
"I'm sure it was Chloé," Marinette whispered to Alya. "I saw her on her phone right before the alarm went off!
"You seeing her make a phone call isn't solid proof," Alya pointed out.
Marinette sighed, knowing that she was right.
Chloé then raised her hand. "Mr Damocles, sir?"
"Yes, Miss Bourgeois?" said Principal Damocles
"I saw a student leaving the classroom right before the alarm went off. It must have been her."
"Really? Who was it?" he asked.
"Let's see if she'll come clean," said Chloé, then turned her gaze to Marinette. "What do you say, Marinette Dupain-Cheng?"
All the students gasped in shock.
Principal Damocles then turned to Marinette. "Marinette, do you have something to tell the firefighter captain?"
"Urgh, wait. Excuse me, sir!" said Adrien before she had a chance to say anything. "It couldn't possibly be Marinette. Why would she disrupt her own father's cooking class?"
"And she only left because her father asked her to 30 seconds before the alarm went off," James added.
Alya nodded. "And I know for a fact that Marinette didn't even have her phone on her when she went out of the classroom."
The rest of the class began to nod in agreement.
"Mister Damocles, I must be heading out," said the fireman.
Principal Damocles stopped before he got the chance to leave. "Just one more second. We're very close to discovering the truth."
The fireman groaned.
"Oh well, we all know it can't be me!" said Chloé.
Marinette was furious. "I'm not gonna let her get away with this. I've gotta tell…"
"Hang on, Marinette," said Aidan, grasping her shoulder. "We don't know for sure it was her."
"He's right," Alya agreed. "Let's not stoop to her level."
"Marinette, I think we can all agree that Chloé is the culprit, but Alya is right. We don't have any proof," said Jack regretfully.
Chloé snickered at them.
"I really have to leave now," said the fireman. "Just call me if you find out who the prankster is."
He turned to leave, but Principal Damocles stopped him once again.
"Fine," said Principal Damocles, looking at all the students. "Since no one is owning up, the whole school will be punished."
Everyone then groaned in disappointment.
Chloé then quickly spun around and quickly pulled out her phone. "What?! I'm not so sure my father will react kindly to me being punished without any proof!"
"Oh, no!" Principal Damocles panicked. "Please, don't disrupt the busy mayor. The whole school is punished except for Miss Bourgeois!"
All the students immediately began to grumble over this decision.
"That's more like it," Chloé smiled, putting away her phone.
"Now you know how we deal with anyone who misuses the fire department's time," said Principal Damocles proudly to the fireman.
"Okay, great! Bye!" said the fireman and immediately dashed out of the school.
All the students glared at Chloé as they walked away.
"Do you see what just went down?" said Alya to Marinette.
Marinette sadly had a dreamy look on her face and was in her own little world. "I know. Adrien just talked in my ear!"
Alya facepalmed herself. "Seriously, Marinette?"
Principal Damocles was as good as his word and had all the students clean the courtyard except for Chloé, who was messing around with her phone.
"Can't you see I'm trying to relax here?" Chloé scolded Rose. "Go sweep somewhere else, Cinderella!"
Rose whimpered and walked away. Adrien, who was cleaning the windows with a rag, had seen the entire thing and marched up to Chloe.
Chloé beamed at him when he came into view and instantly wrapped her arms around his neck. "Adrikins!"
Marinette saw everything from a distance and was red with fury.
Adrien then asked Chloé if it was she who called the fire department.
"Of course, it was me who called the fire department," she said as if it was no big deal. "So what?"
"And it doesn't bother you that everyone's being punished because of you?" said Adrien.
"Or the fact that they're getting punished and you're getting away scot-free," Jack added as he joined them.
"No. Why would it?" she said obliviously. "They all seem to enjoy getting dirty making cookies. How's it any different than getting dirty cleaning floors? They should be thanking me if anything."
Jack shook his head. "Baking cookies is a lot more fun than cleaning floors, especially when it was part of the lesson."
"No one asked you, No Eyes," Chloé dismissed.
Adrien sighed in disappointment. "Chloé, how long have you and I been friends?"
"Since we were adorable little tots, Adrikins," she said.
"Well, I'm sorry, Chloé, but I can't be friends with someone who treats other people like this," said Adrien bluntly. "You've gotta be nice to people!"
"N-Nice?" she said as if she had never heard the word before.
"Yes, nice. It's not that hard."
"Or at least it's not hard for some people," said Jack, walking away with Adrien.
Chloé just stood there trying to figure out what just happened.
When Chloé returned home, she began thinking about what Adrien had told her, which upset her greatly.
"Mademoiselle does not look very happy today," said Jean, lifting a plate of luxury chocolates and offering them to Chloé.
Chloé grabbed the chocolates all at once, ate them concurrently, and then wept.
"Adrien says I have to be nice to everyone, or he won't be my friend anymore!" she said. "How can he do this to me, Jean-Michel?"
"Uh, my name is… hm, never mind," said Jean. "Ah, perhaps Mademoiselle can see comfort with Mr. Cuddly?"
He then held out another plate containing a bright yellow teddy bear. Chloé instantly grabbed it and hugged it tightly.
"If you would allow it, Mademoiselle, I could help you keep your friendship with Adrien," Jean offered.
"W-why would you do a thing like that, Jean-Jacques?" said Chloé, surprised.
"Because that's what being nice is all about, Mademoiselle."
He then bent down into the teddy bear from her. "I'm sure Mademoiselle can remember when she was a little girl when Mr Cuddly was always nice to Mademoiselle when she was sad. Mr. Cuddly can teach you how to be kind to others!"
Chloé looked at the teddy and then began having mental flashbacks when Mr. Cuddly used to comfort her as a child, including when her mother left. "I remember, Jean-Luc. Adrien's going to see just how nice I can be."
Jean sighed with relief.
In Marinette's bedroom, Alya was taking pictures of Rose, Juleka and Mylène, who were modelling Marinette's hat designs.
"And these are jewels I designed that you can customise yourselves," said Marinette, giving Rose a necklace.
Rose looked at the necklace and beamed. "Ooh. They are so cute."
"Hold on, nobody move," said Alya and took a picture of Rose with the necklace. "This one would make an awesome homepage image for your future blog. Wouldn't it?" Then suddenly, a message from Chloé appeared on her phone. "Chloé?"
"What does that bratty snob want?" Marinette asked.
Alya looked at the message and was rather surprised. "Chloé's inviting me to a party."
"Huh, me too!" said Rose, getting a similar message.
"Me too," said Juleka.
"Me too," said Mylène.
"That's so nice of Chloé!" Rose smiled.
Marinette, however, was a lot more sceptical. "Chloé and nice in the same sentence? Can't be her."
"Maybe somebody hacked her phone then," Mylène suggested.
Marinette looked at her phone and saw that she had received a message. "I haven't received a text."
"Then that means it must be from Chloé!" said Alya.
All the girls laughed.
It was, in fact, Chloé sending the invites, but she was rather reluctant to send 1 to Marinette.
"Urgh! The baker girl as well?" Chloé moaned.
"It's what Mr. Cuddly would do, yes," Jean encouraged.
Chloé sighed in defeat and sent the invite to Marinette.
Marinette instantly received the invite to Chloé's party.
"Hm? Ewww, She invited me!" said Marinette, holding her phone as far away from her as possible as if it had a disease.
"Awesome! This will be so much fun!" Rose beamed.
Marinette looked at them as if they were crazy. "Wait! You're actually going to go?"
"She probably wants to say sorry for this morning," said Mylène. "Maybe she's nice. Very, very, deep down."
"Chloé? No, she's the exact opposite of nice!" said Marinette sceptically. "Whatever, you guys can go, but don't count me in."
Alya then received another message. "It's Nino. He's going to the party with Adrien and Jack."
"O-okay, yes, you guys are right!" said Marinette abruptly. "We should totally give Chloé one more chance!"
Alya shook her head while Marinette giggled.
In his lair, Hawk Moth had her all about Chloé and saw this as the perfect opportunity.
"A party being thrown by the most spiteful girl in all of Paris? Such a fertile breeding ground for negative emotions!" he said, turning a butterfly into an akuma. "Fly away, my evil akuma! Finding a victim to evilize should be a piece of cake!"
He then released the akuma, and it fluttered away.
Chloé was hosting her party at Le Grand Paris.
"Mademoiselle should go downstairs and greet her guests in a welcoming manner with a hug and a kiss," Jean advised Chloé.
"Uh, you're kidding, Jean-Claude. You really expect me to let their cheeks touch mine?" said Chloé in disbelief.
"Well, that's what Mr Cuddly would do," said Jean, holding out the teddy bear, and she groaned. "This way, you will prove to your good friend, Adrien, that you really are nice."
"This whole party thing is way weird," said Marinette as she, Adrien, Alya, Nino and Jack entered.
"Well, I've known Chloé for a long time," said Adrien. "She can be really cool sometimes!"
"It's a shame she can't show it more often," said Jack.
Chloé then suddenly left onto Adrien's back after pushing aside several guests. "Adrikins!" She then instantly began kissing him on the cheeks. "What do you think of me hosting this party? Really nice of me, right?"
"It's awesome, Chloé!" said Adrien.
Marinette just growled in annoyance.
"Hey, there!" said Rose, kissing Chloé on the cheeks.
"Hey, Chloé!" said Kim, doing the same thing.
"Thanks for the invite, Chloé," said Max, also kissing her on the cheek.
Chloé shuddered as she walked away and unexpectedly encountered Marinette. Everyone could suddenly feel the tension in the air. Chloé saw Jean waving Mr Cuddly in the background and reluctantly leaned in towards her. Marinette was reluctant, looked at Adrien, and did the same thing.
Everyone gasped as the two of them just one another on the cheek, and they quickly separated, spitting and grunting.
"I should have got you guys on video!" Alya laughed.
"Wish I could have seen that," said Jack, trying to hold back a laugh.
"Don't rub it in," Marinette mumbled.
The akuma had finally arrived at the Le Grand Paris, where Nino was now controlling the DJ, and everyone was enjoying themselves from playing ball pit or participating in a videogame tournament.
"I did it. Adrien seems happy," said Chloé, looking at Jean. "Are we done now?"
"If I may be so bold, in order to reaffirm Adrien of her kindness, Mademoiselle might go and check that her guests are having a good time," Jean advised.
"And why would I do that, Jean-Marc?" Chloé asked.
Jean held out Mr Cuddly. "Because that's what Mr Cuddly would do!"
Chloé immediately shoved Mr Cuddly out of sight, making sure no one saw. "All right! Fine, I get it!"
Chloé grunted and walked over to the counter, slamming her hands on it making Nathaniel jump.
"Having a good time?" she said, struggling to smile.
Mylène then spun over towards the counter. "Whoa! All this dancing made me thirsty. Do you know where the ice cubes are?"
"How should I know? I'm not your servant!" said Chloé rudely. "Go and find them yourself! And if you're so hot, why don't you take off your fake sheepskin sweater? Throw it in the trash where it belongs!"
Mylène gasped.
Hawk Moth sent the negative emotion coming from her and smiled. "I knew I wouldn't have to wait very long!"
The akuma then began to fly closer towards Mylène.
"Ahem!" Jean coughed.
Chloé saw that he was hiding behind the counter holding Mr Cuddly; he then pointed his eyes towards Adrien, who was standing close by. She then chuckled nervously and patted Mylène on the head. "I'm totally joking. I love mutton! I'll get you those ice cubes!"
She then left to get Mylène a cup, and both Mylène and Adrien smiled. Of course, with the loss of the negative emotions, the akuma was no longer attracted to Mylène.
"What are you doing, Miss Bourgeois?" said Hawk Moth, both shocked and confused. "Where's that natural cruelty I'm counting on?"
Both Marinette and Alya were watching everything from a distance.
"This BFF act she's doing is just one big charade," said Marinette. "She's just doing it to please Adrien."
Alya raised an eyebrow. "Ahem. How funny. That reminds me of a girl who didn't want to go to a party until she heard she heard Adrien would be there."
"Please don't compare me to Chloé."
Alya giggled.
"I have to agree with Marinette," said Jack. "She's only pretending to be nice so that she gets back in Adrien's good graces. To be brutally honest, I think nice isn't in her vocabulary."
Chloé soon returned with a bucket of ice cubes and poured the entire contents into her glass in the most impertinent manner possible.
"I see your point," said Alya.
Kim then gave the signal to Nino to start playing slow dance music; he then walked up to Chloé, who sat down next to the counter.
"Chloé, how about a dance with an awesome guy?" Kim asked bowing.
"I'd love it! Where is he?" she asked.
Kim looked down at the ground and side with rejection, causing the akuma to fly down towards him. However, Jean poked Mr Cuddly's head over the counter, waving him at Chloé.
"Oh! Here is, right in front of me," she said, looking back at Kim.
She grudgingly escorted Kim to the dancing floor, much to his enjoyment.
Naturally, this caused the akuma to fly away from him, much to Hawk Moth's annoyance.
As Chloé danced with Kim, she saw Adrien and waved at him. Adrien himself smiled at her proudly for being so kind, giving her the thumbs up and a wink.
"Go over and ask him, girl!" said Alya, nudging Marinette.
"Uh, what?!" Marinette stared at her. "Adrien?! No, you're crazy!"
Alya then showed Marinette over towards Adrien, accidentally bumping into him.
Adrien turned and smiled. "Hey, Marinette. Wanna dance?"
"I, uh…" Marinette stuttered.
Adrien then grabbed her wrist and escorted her to the dancefloor. Once there, Adrien placed her hand on his shoulder and placed his hand around her waist, and soon the two of them were dancing. Marinette was shocked that she was dancing with him but followed the music's flow, and everything seemed so natural.
Chloé then suddenly noticed this and became enraged. "What?! I am speechless!"
"Thanks! You're a pretty good dancer, yourself," said Kim, thinking she was talking about his dancing.
Chloé grunted in anger and jealousy, and Jean, who was hiding the ball pit, just continued waving Mr Cuddly at her. Reluctantly, she calmed down, but that didn't stop her from becoming immensely jealous.
"See? Chloé's on her best behaviour tonight," said Adrien, gesturing to her.
Alya spun around, placed Marinette's hands-on Adrien's shoulder, and then placed his hands on her waist before continuing her slow dancing with Nino. The two looked at them, shocked and confused, and Adrien merely shrugged and continued dancing.
Unfortunately, this was the limit for Chloé, and she immediately pushed Kim to one side.
"I'm not letting her dance with Adrien under my roof!" she said.
"Hey, this song's not over yet!" said Kim.
Jean quickly placed himself in front of Chloé. "If I re-say, Mademoiselle, or to…"
"Move, Jean-Jacques!" Chloé demanded.
Jean then pulled out Mr Cuddly and began talking in a squeaky voice. "Oh, please, Chloé, dear! You've been such a good little girl! Mr Cuddly is so very proud…"
Everyone immediately stopped dancing and saw her teddy bear. Chloé desperately tried to hide it before anyone noticed, but it was too late.
"Is that your teddy bear, Chloé?" Kim asked.
Everyone then immediately burst out laughing.
Furious, Chloé dragged Jean into the kitchen.
"I've had it with your stupid teddy bear, your stupid advice, and you, Jean, whatever your stupid name is!" she yelled.
"But, Mademoiselle, I was only trying to help," said Jean.
"There's no more Mademoiselle, no more help, no more anything! You are FIRED! Now get out!" Chloé roared and then stormed out of the kitchen.
Jean stood there looking immensely upset, and Hawk Moth instantly picked up on that.
"Ah, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed," he said.
The akuma then flew in and absorbed into Mr Cuddly, which Jean was still holding. Jean looked up angrily as the purple butterfly halo appeared on his face.
"Hello, Despair Bear," said Hawk Moth. "I am Hawk Moth. You've always been such a good influence on Chloé, but now, you get to be a bad influence for everyone, and a very evil one at that."
"With great pleasure, sir!" said Jean.
Dark ether began to cover his body as he transformed into Despair Bear by the akuma. Seconds later, he shrugged down and transformed into a black teddy bear with glowing green eyes.
In fact, he had shrunk down and was inside, controlling it like some miniature robot.
"You've been very naughty, Chloékins!" he said. "And Despair Bear is not proud of you. The time has come to make you pay!"
Everyone was still dancing, and Chloé watched Marinette and Adrien dance with Sabrina.
Despair Bear then left the kitchen and began looking around for a victim to taunt Chloé, and his eyes fell upon Sabrina. Without a moment's hesitation, he clutched onto her leg and instantly took control of her, turning her eyes green in the process.
"Come here, Chloé," said Sabrina, pulling out a hairbrush.
"Sabrina? What's gotten into you?" Chloé frowned.
"Let me brush your hair!" she said as she slowly approached. "I promise I won't hurt you!"
She suddenly reached out to Chloé, who immediately tried to fend her off.
"Ahh! Somebody stop her!" Chloé cried.
She then ran away with Sabrina following close behind, and they ran between Marinette and Adrien. Chloé then quickly hit behind Kim, using him as a human shield.
"If you touch one hair on Chloé's head, you'll have to answer to me," said Kim.
"Oh, what a gentleman," said Despair Bear. "Despair Bear praises a knight in shining armour."
He then detached himself from Sabrina and then clutched onto Kim's leg, controlling him. Both Adrien and Marinette witnessed this and knew that an akumaized villain was at work.
"Uh, I think I had too much orange juice," said Marinette to Adrien. "I gotta go. See ya."
"No problem," said Adrien. "I have something to do, anyway. See ya."
The two of them then quickly left discreetly to transform into Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Nooroo, who was hiding in Jack's jacket, had also witnessed this and quickly informed Jack.
"I thought I sensed an akumaization earlier," he said.
"Ready whenever you are," said Nooroo.
Jack then immediately left quietly to find a place to transform.
"Chloé?" said Sabrina, confused.
"Don't you come near me!" Chloé yelled.
Sabrina looked even more confused. "Why? What's going on?"
"Kim, do something!" Chloé yelled.
Kim then turned to Chloé. "Would you like to dance, Chloé?"
Chloé instantly screamed.
Marinette had managed to reach the staircase, and Tikki popped out of her jacket.
"I… I've gotta transform, Tikki," said Marinette. "Too bad I had to stop dancing with Adrien. It felt like I was dancing on a little cloud. I'm out of body experience. It was like…"
"Marinette, focus," said Tikki, snapping out of her daydream.
They then heard people screaming back at the party.
"Okay, back down to Earth," said Marinette, slapping her face. "Tikki, spots on!"
She then began to transform into Ladybug.
Back at the party, everyone stared as Kim twirled Chloé around the room rather aggressively.
"Let go, you evil derp!" Chloé demanded. "You're messing up my hair!
"I hope you're having fun, Chloékins!" Despair Bear smiled and then flipped her into the air.
Fortunately, Ladybug arrived in time and tossed her yo-yo, wrapping it around her leg. She quickly pulled down, and Chloé safely landed in the ball pit.
Chloé head servers, and she spat out a ball in her mouth. "About time; what took you so long?"
Kim charged, but Cat Noir arrived, using his staff to trip him, and he fell into the ball pit. The fall caused Despair Bear to lose his grip, and he was flown straight into the wall.
"That's a very slippery dance floor!" said Cat Noir.
Sprite then landed and attempted to grab Despair Bear, but he quickly jumped out of the way.
"Someone nab that bear!" Sprite yelled.
Ladybug swung her yo-yo at him, but Despair Bear quickly ran up the wall with unbelievable speed. He then somersaulted and landed on the floor, and everyone immediately ran away from him.
"Move aside. All of you!" Ladybug yelled.
"Nobody let that bear touch you!" said Sprite.
Everyone quickly backed away, but Despair Bear had disappeared.
Cat Noir looked around and then saw a chair heading straight towards them. "Look out!"
He quickly tackled Ladybug and Sprite to the ground as a mind-controlled Max threw them at them.
"How about a little game…" said Max
"Of flying chairs?" said Despair Bear.
Ladybug quickly swung her yo-yo around Max's leg as Despair Bear released him. Ladybug pulled, causing Max to fall backwards onto the counter, and a split second later, Alya, now mind-controlled, grabbed her. Ladybug quickly swiftly got out of her grip and grabbed her.
"Huh? Ladybug, what happened?" Alya confused.
Then, a mind-controlled Ivan grabbed a coffee table and threw it straight at the three heroes. Cat Noir quickly pounced, smashed it with his staff, and then pinned him down.
Ivan looked up at him. "Huh, Cat Noir?"
"Huh? Where'd he go?" said Cat Noir, looking around.
"This is starting to get ridiculous," said Sprite as he looked around.
Ladybug looked around the room when suddenly Cat Noir grabbed her arm.
"What are you doing?" she asked, and then Cat Noir's eyes were much brighter green, and she realised that he was being mind–controlled. "Oh, no!"
"Despair Bear, if you want to continue playing this game, give me Ladybug's Miraculous!" Hawk Moth demanded.
"Oh, pretty earrings," said Despair Bear.
Cat Noir then reached out to grab Ladybug's earrings but quickly knocked his hand away. However, Cat Noir kicked him in the chest, knocked him back, and tried grabbing Ladybug's earrings again.
"Cat Noir, it's me! Stop it!" Ladybug yelled as she dodged his attempts.
Ladybug twisted his arm and got behind him, putting him in an arm lock. "Sprite the bear!"
"On it," he said, getting to his feet and began to reach for the Bear.
"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir yelled, covering his hand in destructive energy.
Chloé saw this and quickly dashed forward as Cat Noir swung his hand towards Ladybug.
"Paws off, kitty!" Chloé yelled, yanking on his belt.
The sudden gang caused Cat Noir to lose his balance, and he fell on the couch, accidentally destroying it with his Cataclysm.
"That was a close one," said Sprite.
Ladybug looked at Chloé gratefully. "Thank you!"
"Hey, I was really nice just then. Did you see? No?" she said, looking at everyone who had immediately fainted. "You're all so lame."
"Lucky Charm!" Ladybug yelled, tossing her yo-yo into the air, and materialising was a red fork with black spots. "A fork?"
"You little brat!" Despair Bear growled.
Cat Noir then rose to his feet.
"I think we better take this place with a few people around," Sprite advised.
"Good thinking," said Ladybug.
They then headed upstairs, with Cat Noir following close behind.
"They're crazy; they're never going to make it without me," said Chloé and followed them.
Cat Noir continued chasing after the two heroes until he reached the balcony on the roof but lost track of them. The two heroes were currently hiding on the rooftop behind him.
Ladybug began looking around, and her eyes fell upon the table umbrella, Despair Bear himself and finally, the fork in her hand.
"Got something?" Sprite asked.
"Just follow my lead," she said.
They then jumped down, and Ladybug instantly swung her yo-yo, but Cat Noir knocked it back with his staff. Sprite then came swaying in with his cane, and the two of them began to duel. Ladybug then quickly moved in, but Cat Noir was able to push Sprite back and tossed his staff at her, which she dodged.
"Hey, stop!" Chloé yelled as she arrived and nearly got hit by the staff.
She then decided it was probably best to hide.
Cat Noir's staff returned to him just in time for them to block Sprite's cane. Ladybug then quickly grabbed some thread sticking out of Despair Bear's puppet's head and quickly attached it to the fork.
"Naughty, naughty, Ladybug!" said Despair Bear.
Cat Noir then swung his fist at Sprite; unfortunately, he was able to dodge that, but he could not prevent Cat Noir from sweeping him off his feet with a spin kick. He then turned around and dashed towards Ladybug, who was in the midst of attaching the threat to the fork.
She then quickly threw the fork directly at the table umbrella where Chloé was hiding.
"Chloé, would you be so kind? Ladybug asked.
Cat Noir swung his staff at Ladybug, and Sprite recovered and soon joined in the fight.
"Okay, Ladybug! Chloé saluted.
She then began spinning the umbrella, causing Despair Bear to unravel. Cat Noir was unaware of this and swung his staff down at Ladybug to catch it, allowing Sprite to grab him.
Eventually, Despair Bear's body became unravelled, causing the head to roll off Car Noir's leg and land gently on the ground.
"No! Stop! What's happening?" Despair Bear cried.
Cat Noir's eyes returned to normal, and he looked around, confused. "Ladybug? Sprite? What are you two doing?"
"Oh, nothing," Ladybug smiled and then gestured to Chloé. "We've just saved your skin with the help of our new little sidekick."
Chloé just stood there proudly.
"Give me your Miraculous! You haven't defeated me yet!" said a small squeaky voice.
They looked around for the source, but Ladybug smiled when she looked down. "Watch your step, Cat Noir!"
Cat Noir looked down and saw Despair Bear, who climbed out of the teddy bear's head, currently kicking his foot furiously.
He then bent down and grabbed him. "I've got this guy under control."
Ladybug then bent down, picked up the teddy bear's head, and snapped the thread, causing the akuma to fly out.
"No more evildoing for you, little akuma," said Ladybug, spinning her yo-yo. "Time to de-evilize!" She swung her yo-yo, caught the akuma, and pulled it back. "Gotcha!" She opened her yo-yo and allowed the now-purified butterfly to flutter away. "Bye-bye, little butterfly."
She then tossed a Lucky Charm into the air. "Miraculous Ladybug!"
The magical ladybugs then began to return everything back to normal. A split second later, in despair, Bear turned back into Jean.
Ladybug then turned to Chloé, giving back Mr Cuddly. "Thanks for helping me out there. That was really nice of you."
"I know, wasn't it?" said Chloé, taking the teddy bear.
"Just make sure you do it more often," said Sprite.
Jean then walked up, confused. "Mademoiselle, I must confess. I don't remember anything!"
"Well, basically, you turned evil, and I saved you. In fact, without me, Ladybug, Cat Noir and Lord Sprite would never have succeeded," she said proudly. "I'm even better than you, superheroes. I don't even need a costume."
Then suddenly, both Ladybug and Cat Noir heard the miraculous beeping warning them they were about to transform back.
"Gotta get going!" said Cat Noir.
"Yeah, me too!" said Ladybug, and they left.
"I make my leave as well," said Sprite, and he left, too.
"You know what? I'm suddenly feeling very generous," said Chloé, looking at Jean. "I think that thing of yours about being nice might actually make some sense. I've decided to keep you on, after all!"
"Mademoiselle is so kind!" Jean smiled.
"Don't let the guests go away, Jean-Baptiste," Chloé ordered. "They mustn't miss what's coming up next!"
She then pulled out her phone and began dialling.
Hawk Moth was completely infuriated with his defeat. "Ladybug, if you haven't been helped, defeating you would have been child's play. So you better watch out. Your day of devastation is coming soon!"
He then closed the window to his lair.
Back at Chloé's party, she had surprised everyone by inviting Marinette's father over so everyone could bake macaroons with him.
"Great job, kids," said Tom once everyone was finished. "You've done some really good work."
Everyone burst into cheers.
"That was a great idea of inviting Marinette's dad!" said Adrien to Chloé.
"I know. This way, no one can be mad at me for calling the fire department," she said and leaned in towards Adrien. "I'm really nice now. Did you notice, Adrikins? Even Ladybug said so! Didn't she, Jean-Pascal?"
"I'm proud of you, Chloé," said Adrien. "I think you've proven that you're capable of making an effort to be nicer to everyone."
"Aww, Adrikins! So we'll always be best friends, forever?" she asked, holding out her pinky finger. "Pinky swear?"
"Pinky swear!" said Adrien, wrapping his pinkie around hers.
Chloé then swatted off and immediately began criticising everyone's macaroons.
"So, those macarons are dreadfully ugly," she said to Kim, making him sigh in disappointment. She then carried on towards Mylène. "Those are so greasy, you can see yourself in them." Mylène burst into tears and then approached Marinette. "Urgh. Too disgusting for comment." Marinette then pulled a face at Chloé as she made her way over to Rose. "Those look horrible."
Rose then fainted.
"She'll never change!" said Adrien, shaking his head as he and Jack joined Marinette.
"Well, it was good while it lasted," Jack sighed.
Marinette giggled nervously, and then he leaned in towards her. "May I?"
"Yeah! Sure! I mean… Uh, what?" Marinette stuttered.
"Have a macaron!" he said.
"Yes, of course," said Marinette, grabbing the plate and accidentally dropping all the macaroons on the floor, but I was able to catch one of them. "Oh, sorry, I'm so clumsy!"
"It's okay," Aidan assured her and ate the macaroon. "Wow, this is really good. Your baking is as good as your dancing."
Marinette stared, stunned, as Aidan walked away, eating the macaroon.
"You can breathe now he's gone," Jack chuckled.
Marinette sighed in relief, with a dreamy look on her face.
