CHAPTER FIVE

The aliens were now right at Jeremy's window. They nodded at one another and blasted the wall of the mansion to rubble. Jeremy stood protectively by Cathy's VR-pod. He had even sent his robot guards after the aliens, and they, too, failed miserably.

"I paid you oversized goon heads to bring Cathy too me!" he thundered at them "I won't let you take her away."

The aliens sniggered at his sniveling "We don't plan to take her away, we plan to take her out!" one of them sneered "That's what we're paid for. That's what you paid us for. Now get out of our way!"

Jeremy was mixture of fear and determined not to let Cathy down, but if the aliens damaged the pop while Cathy was still in it, she'd be trapped in the VR-world forever.

The aliens didn't care and decided blast them both anyway. Jeremy was so freaked out he couldn't bring himself to move out of the way.

The aliens were just about to fire, when suddenly…

"Hey, Techno-geeks!" shouted John, as he and Hugo leapt in through the hole in the wall. "Let's get' em!" growled an alien. Hugo was surprisingly strong and swift for an old Rapsodian. Stretching out of the way to avoid the aliens' attacks and John was quite the fighter himself. One of the aliens fire a shot at him, but John rolled out of the way and fired a shot from his blaster, knocking the alien's gun out of his hands. "Insolent human!" the alien growled "We have more tricks in our arsenal."

His comrades nodded and grabbed their many blasters, explosives and really prepared to do some damage. John knew he couldn't fight in the house. "Mr. S, I'm going to lead these brutes outside. Try and get Cathy free."

"Right…!"

John then led the swat out into the yard, and did his best to block and avoid their attacks, and do his best to fight back, but their weapons arsenal never seemed to give out. Meanwhile, Hugo sat the computer in attempt to shut down the program.

"Oh, no you don't!" snapped Jeremy "I said no one is going to take Cathy away from me, and I mean nobody!"

"Jeremy, please. Haven't you done enough damage already?" said Hugo. He gestured at all the damage done to his home, and the fact that Cathy nearly lost her life, for that matter so did he. "But I…" cried Jeremy "I just can't lose Cathy again."

"You never had her lose to begin with." said Hugo.

He finally got through to the program, but the shutdown required a passcode, which he was not able to get. Worse than that, John was beginning to look a little tired outside form his constant battling. "Any time in there!" he shouted.

Jeremy gazed at Cathy's still unconscious body in her pod.

"Jeremy, listen…" said Hugo "I realize what you may think you feel, but I can assure you what you feel isn't real love. You're holding Cathy against her will, and keeping her confined in a virtual environment, and worse than that, you're keeping her from her true love and her real life. Is this what you really wanted for her? Is it worth all this hardship and damage?"

Something inside of Jeremy finally clicked! He reminisced through all of Cathy's sour expressions with him, and remembered seeing how happy she was with Danny. It finally sank into him. "What have I done?"

He decided to really set things right, but inputting the password… "C-A-T-H-Y"

Hugo felt rather stupid for having not been able to guess that.

The system shutdown and Cathy awoke, and burst right out form her pod. "MBC, power-up!"

She rushed outside to help John. "This is for crashing my wedding day!" she snarled, and began to blast the aliens in back where they couldn't defend themselves, and their barriers were low on power from such a long battle.

"Welcome, back Cathy." said John.

"Thanks now let's hurry and bust these guys."

Meanwhile, Danny's shields were nearly out of power, and the aliens continued to fire at them. Finally, the shields went down. "Ah, man!" cried Danny.

"This is, so, not happening!" cried Wendy, and she gripped Danny tightly "Hold me!"

Danny groaned in a struggle to breathe.

"There's no more protection!" shouted the aliens "Prepare to be broken up!"

But as they prepared to fire, Chris and Sam finally made it on the scene, and blasted at the aliens, catching them off guard. "Looks like we got here just in time." said Chris.

"Now that the party's here, let's rumble." said Sam.

The aliens were furious, but pleased at the same time. "Now we can break up three monster busters instead of just one."

"Let's go!"

The battle was on and just as fierce as John and Cathy's battle, but just like it, the alien's powers were growing weak form overuse, allowing the busters to get the upper-hand. Danny even managed to finally breakaway from Wendy and leapt down to join the fight.

"Some wedding day this is." he said sarcastically.

Luckily, the team remembered that as weapon crazed and as strong as the Technolians were, their obsession left them none too smart or careful. Danny dodged a blast, causing the aliens to accidently strike each other.

"Hey!"

"Watch where you're aiming!"

"Why do you get out of the way next time?!"

The aliens were also known to have rotten tempers, as well as greed and lust for destruction. Soon they began to wail on each other. "Quick, while their distracted." cried Chris, and he and the others got out their Super-Vacuvators, capable of sucking up multiple aliens at once. In a flash, the entire swat was imprisoned.

The same applied for back at Jeremy's. Cathy and John had captured all the aliens, and Hugo just received a holo-message form Zubin that the entire Technolian fleet of ships had been impounded. "Looks like we did It." he cried for Joy.

John and Cathy slapped each other a high five.

Soon, the regular police arrived, having heard of the disturbance in the peace. Jeremy was arrested for his crimes committed; kidnapping, bribery, and endangering lives; to which he remorsefully admitted and gave himself up quietly.

"Wait!" cried Cathy, and she admitted that while she was disgusted by Jeremy's actions, she informed the men of his willingness to give in, and he did do what was right and set her free. "Thanks, Jeremy."

Jeremy didn't know why, but he was smiling, though sadly. "Perhaps it's time I really gave up. Your heart belongs to Danny, and that's something I never program, or buy."

Then he was taken away, but it was hoped that he would get a light sentence. After all, no serious damage had been done, and nobody was killed, and Cathy would never forget Jeremy for this… ever!

The gang all headed over to Wendy's. The local authorities were there to help inspect the damage, and to take Wendy into custody for her own crimes as well.

"Cathy!" cried Danny!

"Oh, Danny!" she squealed as she ran over and he took her in his arms, twirling her around.

Wendy was being rolled out of the house strapped on a stretcher. It was realized she needed serious psychiatric help, but still she was putting up a fuss. "Like, get your alien arms off my husband!" she growled.

"Husband?" asked Cathy "What's she talking about?"

Danny didn't answer her but approached Wendy. Sam and Chris stood by his side. "I'm not your husband, Wendy. I never said the words, so it's not legit."

"He's right, Wendy." said Sam "Besides, there's no certificate, no rings, not even any paparazzi photos."

"Wendy, you need help. It's the only way you'll get better." added Chris.

"I do not need help!" cried Wendy "I just need Danny… I love you!"

"No you don't." snapped Danny "Wendy, you're not in love with me, you're obsessed with me. You love the idea of me just because I'm a monster buster, and that would make you popular. That's not love. At least I only ever had a silly crush on you, but you didn't see me stooping this low."

Cathy walked up to him and held his hand "Think about it, Wendy. Would you really be satisfied if you really married Danny knowing he loves me and not you?"

Wendy looked like she was going to burst again, and fussed about trying to break free, but the doctors sedated her, and took her away.

"Man, I hope she'll be okay." said John.

"You know, so do I." said Danny.
