Location: Prison Realm

The two woman levitated into the air and Jaune could only watch as they both began to battle it out. Makima's chains clashing with the orange tinted energy blasts Kara was exuding.

"Kara!" Jaune yelled out in concern, struggling against the chains binding him.

Makima unleashed at least six chains from her body and they clashed against Kara's energy in a vicious onslaught. Jaune could barely look away. He wanted to help, he wanted to know what was going on and what kind of semblance she was using.

"I've seen this power somewhere before" Makima observed.

"Then you know what it can do to people like you" Kara responded. Clasping her hands together and creating a ball of flaming energy, launching it at Makima, who spawned a chain from her fingers to shield herself from the blast.

Jaune tried to get up on his feet, which wasn't easy. But he suddenly felt a presence near him and his entire body suddenly became a lot less tense as the chains suddenly broke apart from him. He raised his hands in surprise before turning around.

"My friend you are doing well" Alyos the wolf said to him, happily wagging his tail.

"I am now. Thanks for saving me" Jaune said with a smile.

The pair of them watched as the two woman continued their fight in mid-air, almost reaching the ceiling. "That daughter of yours is quite something" the wolf said.

Jaune nodded proudly as he watched her quite capably handling herself against such a powerful opponent "yes she is."

Alyos turned to the control panel in front of him "what is this?" he asked while nudging towards the small flickering light emitted from the top of the panel.

"According to her it's a portal out of here," Jaune breathed out, glancing quickly at his canine companion "but apparently to open it requires a sacrifice, at least that's what she claims. Do you know anything about it?"

Alyos's eyes shifted away from Jaune, looking down solemnly.

"I'm afraid she's correct my friend," the wolf said with a sigh "that precaution was put in place by the creators of this place. This was to ensure nobody could get out, after all any vile being that comes in here wouldn't sacrifice their own life to get out, it would render the whole purpose of an escape pointless."

Jaune nodded. The logic was sound, it did make escaping null and void. If the price was your life, would you pay it?

"Well then…" Jaune mumbled and thought about it. Makima had been telling the truth after all? At least on this subject, he refused to believe her claims that Alyos was the dangerous being she claimed him to be.

"And that creature…is about the most dangerous being in this place…." The words rang in his head. He glanced at Alyos who was looking curiously at the portal. No she had to be lying about it…

Kara moved in closer to Makima, her entire body covered in orange fiery energy. The chains spawning from Makima's body where breaking apart from the fiery energy that Kara exuded as she moved closer. She raised her fist at the control devil and decked the Control Devil right in the face, causing her to fall out of the air down on the platform below.

Not relenting one bit, Makima again shot a chain from her fingertips right at the floating woman. Kara reached out and grabbed the chain and yanked it forward, pulling Makima off the ground before she slammed her back down on the ground with a loud thud.

Jaune turned his head and looked at the two women battling his mind went to a place he never wanted to go. But it was perhaps their only solution out of here and it could help them get rid off a potential dangerous enemy. It didn't sit right with him but there was no real alternative.

"Alyos I might have a plan that can work. We just need to get Makima over here and…"

"Did she say anything about me?" Alyos interrupted him abruptly.

Jaune was taken aback by that question, it came out of nowhere and the wolf's tone was….different somehow.

"Uhm yeah she did. She made up some lie about how there are no guardian wolves here and you're the most dangerous being in this place."

Alyos nodded to that, avoiding his eyes from Jaune.

"She said that huh…" Alyos said despondently.

"Yeah but I don't buy a single word from it. She's lying she has to be" Jaune said before turning back to see the battle unfold. He saw Kara coming down onto the platform and grab Makima by the collar and deck her in the face again.

"You're powers won't save you here!" she said as she delivered another punch to Makima's face. "You kidnapped my father! Your ass is mine!" she yelled followed by another solid punch to the Control Devil's face.

"That's my girl…" Jaune mumbled proudly.

He turned his head only to find himself grabbed by the collar and violently slammed to the platform's floor. What he saw next scared him.

Alyos had changed. He was now standing on his hind lands and had grown in size, looking almost similar to a Beowolf minus the markings. Venom green eyes where staring right through him and on the canine's face was what could best be described as an arrogant grin.

"Alyos what…what..happ…"

"I'm sorry it had to go like this my friend. I was originally planning to simply use you as my vessel to get out of here but plans have changed" Alyos said with a mocking tone.

Jaune was in complete disbelief. It was like this loyal well meaning companion had done a complete one eighty and turned into this…this beast. While at the Jujutsu Academy he read a book about one Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and this is how it seemed to look.

And then he remembered Makima's words and realized to his horror.

"She…she wasn't lying…"

Alyos grinned and shook his head "you should've listened to her my friend, but then again how could you have known. I played the part of the loyal dog so well didn't I, truly an Oscar worthy performance. Very fitting for my way out."

The monstrous canine lifted Jaune off the ground and began walking towards the control panel where the burgeoning portal was still crackling with energy.

"How could you…" Jaune said as he struggled to get free from the beast's grasp, but felt himself unable to break free.

"It's very simple my friend. I want to get out of this place so I can exact my revenge on the one who imprisoned me. And you are the unfortunate sacrifice that will make that happen. If it's any consolation, your daughter will get out free as well."

"KARA!" Jaune yelled.

His daughter snapped out of her rage and turned around to see what was happening. Full of disbelief she glanced at Makima, who was writhing in pain on the ground. Without looking back she leapt as far as she could towards the control panel.

When she arrived there she immediately grabbed the now bipedal Alyos by the shoulder and the wolf howled out in pain as a burning sensation passed through him. He dropped Jaune who slumped to the ground and recoiled backwards. Kara used the opportunity to help her father.

"Dad are you alright? What's going on…" Kara asked worried.

Jaune caught his breath and mumbled "no guardian….hes….liar…"

Kara glanced towards Alyos who was slowly standing up, clutching his shoulder which now had a visible burn wound. Even though she hadn't been using her powers.

"You…." Alyos growled "you're a Maiden…"

Kara stepped in front of her dad and her eyes glowed orange again "yes and one that you have royally pissed off…"

Alyos smirked "you think you can take me on girl. I am the Wolf King, The Beast that all beasts fear and I won't be defeated by…"

His words where cut short by a sudden chain wrapping around his neck. He howled out loudly and turned his head, Makima stood there clutching her side, her face bruised and her nose bleeding. Her fingers pointed at the wolf like a gun where the chain extended from.

"Sit boy" she commanded.

Alyos simply smirked in response. In a fast move, Kara and Jaune saw him turn and grab hold of the chain, pulling it and making Makima fly towards him. As soon as she reached him he grabbed her by the throat.

"You tried that trick before and it didn't work…now to do what I should've done long ago" he said as he raised his other claw, preparing to strike.

But it was Kara who struck first. Brimming with energy she yelled and released a giant energy blast right on the bridge that Makima and Alyos where standing on. Jaune took a massive step back as he watched the scene unfold. The energy broke the entire bridge apart and Alyos yelled out as him and Makima plummeted down into the dark abyss below.

Kara stepped back and took a long breath as the energy dissipated from her. She almost fell over until Jaune grabbed her and held her steady.

"Kara that was incredible. I didn't know you had the powers of a Maiden…"

"Thanks dad but that's not important. Are you okay?" she asked concerned.

Jaune nodded " I am thanks to you." he said.

Kara smiled and father and daughter embraced each other happily. But Jaune felt the mood quickly sour as he was reminded of the grim situation they were in.

He let go of Kara and looked at the still small portal.

"Kara the portal it…it required a sacrifice to open…"
