A/N Hello all back with another chapter as promised thanks to those who take time to interact with my story. Let's get into some of the reviews from chapter 5.
GuardianOfTheEther: Hello I hope this response to your review finds you in good health and spirt. I love the passion displayed within your review. As a writer I need to work on accepting criticism. If you allow me to speak as frankly and openly as your review, I'd like to address somethings in hopes to clear the smoke, you sent my way lol.
Let's start with your first gripe. Who are you to say what is correct treatment of slaves/servants in a fictional world I am creating and what is not? I believe the basics of your first complaint is you believe it is not the right of anyone but the owner on how the servant/slave is treated. I also agree, but I made it clear in the last chapter that it is the cultural norm for servants/ slaves to also be treated as sexual outlets for not only their master but those who would visit his home, now you may disagree with the concept, but you were given an explanation. As I previously stated it is a cultural norm that Nobles from any village would expect to be treated as such anywhere, they go! I got this idea from examples within our world on how slaves/servants were treated let's talk briefly about Modern-day slavery and Historical records of slavery which I am using as an outline on how servitude will be in my story. In American slavery, slaves were at the mercy of their master so their usage was completely determined on what their master designated them for yes, but we do have records of non-sexual slaves, so those bought with the intention of doing things not sexually related such as farming and house work being forced into such action NOT ONLY WITH THEIR MASTERS but also whomever the master allowed it with. AS you said it would be up to the master choice purely within the concept of OUR world, but I made it so that it was culturally normal for a person considered a Noble to be treated almost like a master when visiting someone's home. We have plenty of examples of this within American Slavery, Rome, Mongol Empire so on and so forth, Now we can debate all day long weather that was a cultural norm or not in our world but that simple doesn't matter, but its unintelligent to think that amongst those they weren't people who practiced letting people outside of the 'Masters' house use their slaves however they please sexually at least. For more historical reference in American Slavery the state of Virginia had the most mixed slaves, so those born from a black person and white person having sexual relations. Now do you honestly think that all those thousands of mixed babies were born purely of their Master or members of their house it's almost unintelligent to say so with that provides a premise of concept. With modern day slavery the main use is still sexual use and labor no different than what has been offered within my story so it's not that unbelievable as you make it seem.
So, in essence you can disagree with the how I used servitude and slavery, so the concept within my Naruto verse but calling me severely misinformed I'd argue it is you who lacks knowledge of how slaves were treated throughout history. Lastly although I know movies aren't historical references movies, and shows such as Django, and 12 years a slave, Spartacus showed slaves being offered to other slaves and non-slaves. This again proves the premise of concept which is all I need to prove this is a valid idea. Plus, this is fiction so it's kind of wrong to say I'm wrong about something fake. I'd appreciate it if you just said you didn't like the concept because xyz instead of calling me dumb in other words or lazy.
Your second point of contention sorry I had to look up the definition of NTR because I'm not familiar with the term. From my understanding it is the concept of a boyfriend/girlfriend cheating. Where have I even alluded to the fact that Naruto servants have a romantic relationship with him? They don't and wont he sees them as motherly figures and that is all they will be, so saying they cheated on him is a stretch they don't have that type of relationship. But I do agree with the concept of this destroying the relationship between Naruto and Jiraiya which I intended. And hinted at last chapter. Also, I disagree with the verbiage used to describe Jiraiya action you said rape although it was sexual assault and I do not condone either. But the point of his actions flew over your head, and I accredit that to it being a poorly written chapter so it's my fault. The point was Jiraiya taking his emotions for the mistreatment of Hinata and using Naruto mother figures to show him what lengths Hinata was willing to subject herself to because of her love for him. Jiraiya stated and was attempting to show him that he would need love and that dedication from multiple people in order to fight the injustices within that world. So he shouldn't just easily dismiss another person's feelings so harshly, because it has real consequences
Lastly this was addressed in the previous chapters up to this point the shinobi clan heads of Konoha have looked and treated Naruto as royalty, but also as a child. When Naruto and Hinata were almost kidnapped they were under the care of Naruto's personal protection detail but also Chi, and Neji, Hiashi reacted in his opinion justly he believed that Chi was just as useless as Neji during that time which is why they were both punished for allowing such an important person like Naruto to be threatened. But when you say that he no longer has any right to take away Naruto servant. You'd be correct accept that you forgot at the time Naruto was 3 years old with no real political prowess. So, he hadn't yet the knowledge or the power needed to persuade Hiashi away from his actions verbally or forcefully. This has been hinted multiple times throughout the story Naruto is now 6 and was forced to be made aware that he lacks the power to induce and influence change yet.
All in all, and a summary is that one the slaves/servants are expected to not only be completely obedient to their master but anyone who is of noble birth. Their purpose is to better their lord anyway they can, secondly that the treatment of Naruto servants by Jiraiya was him showing Naruto the depths of Hinata's dedication to him. Lastly Naruto is being faced with the reality of the cruelty and injustice within their world in a way that truly will change his outlook on everything. I hope this helps and that you and you can continue to read the story. If you have any more gripes related to last chapter, please pm me and I'll be happy to discuss them with you. Thank you again for your time!
Guest: NTR may have a different meaning than one I'm aware but there has been no infidelity within the story. I would argue that his servants' actions showed nothing but love and dedication to wanting to be around Naruto no matter the circumstances. But I hope you do at least stop by for the next chapter.
iiNeo: yes, you will see the impact of this throughout the rest of the story this was used as a critical character development. Through pain and heartache which I believe creates some of the best characters.
I again want to thank my readers for reviewing this last chapter's reviews lit a fire within my creative writing spirt and motivates me I appreciate those who share their thoughts and I hope this chapter is well received, without further ado let's get into some action.
Chapter 6
Festival part 2.
Kauri and Omoi followed Naruto and his servants out of the Hokage's tower and into the streets of Konoha. The two followed behind the group wordlessly before the reached a corner and Naruto turned around to address the two.
"I assume you two are hungry and tired from your journey. I would like to invite you to lunch before I take you to my clan compound and return to the Shinobi academy."
Omoi and Kauri looked at each other having a quick silent discussion before Karui spoke.
"Lord Naruto, I appreciate the kindness me and Omoi-san would like to take you up on the offer."
Naruto nodded face not showing any signs of emotion before saying "Follow me" and turning to continue walking towards their destination. Karui was finding herself more and more interested in this Naruto character. He was the last of two great clans, a renowned figure within Konoha and gaining more notoriety outside the village. He was obviously allowed special privileges by the Hokage which showed his importance. If him being the only clan head to have servants present during the council meeting indicated anything. So far nothing about him would indicate why outside his linage he was allowed such privileges. So, she kind of expected him to be a spoiled brat. So far that wasn't the feeling she got from him. Everyone that greeted him as they walked by, he was loved, so he was not arrogant. None of his servants seemed to be deathly afraid of him which spoke to his kindness. She needed more information to figure out just who Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze was.
They reached a restaurant that read Ichiraku Ramen at the top. The building was an upper scale restaurant which seemed to be able to house a decent amount of guest. As they entered, she was immediately met with the amazing smell of ramen, a young lady upon seeing Naruto rushed over to him and greeted him kindly.
"Lord Naruto-sama it is always a pleasure to have you, let me escort you to your seating area. We've recently made renovations to your dining room since your last visit."
"Thank you, Ayame-chan."
Naruto said returning her polite bow then following her. Karui was surprised that from what she said it was as though she was expecting their arrival.
Maybe he reserved a table ahead of time.
Karui was amazed that their seating location was at the back of the restaurant in a private seating area. She imagined that this seating area probably cost the young clan head quite a lot to reserve in this middle-class restaurant.
They entered the private seating room and Ayame began placing menu's down for everyone present before Naruto spoke up.
"Please Ayame-chan only three menus are needed. Do not worry about my servants from now on they will not be joining me."
Ayame was visibly shocked. Karui had been curious if Naruto previously allowed his servants to eat together with him, from what he said he use to allow it which was completely different than most Nobles who had servants so she was surprised but now curious as to why the change maybe he thought that her and Omoi would have been offended eating next to servants, she really didn't care it wasn't her place to say but she did find it strange that it seemed he use to participate in such actions.
Her clan had a few servants as well, but they weren't allot compared to the amount of clan members they had so the servants were always super busy. Her family being the clan heads and descendent had 1 servant designated for all of them. So, Naruto having 7 for just himself was a major flex.
The ones who seemed the most shocked and visibly shaken up were Naruto's servants. It was obvious as to how they had quickly arranged themselves they have been here multiple times before and were used to sitting in the same spot if the swiftness of how they positioned themselves behind their respective chairs was evidence. Upon hearing his words though they all swiftly exited the private room and took positions outside of the private eating area as to still be available for their Lord.
Karui could see the sad faces on one of his servants with blond hair but upon noticing Karui gaze she gave her a half smile before bowing and exiting.
Naruto watched them leave and Karui had a hard time placing the emotion of his expression. Upon seeing her staring at him he quickly changed into an unreadable expression and gestured for her and Omoi to join him in.
Naruto sat at the head of the table Karui noticed and had expected it since he was a clan head and the highest-ranking person amongst them socially. She boldly took the seat to his right as a wife would. Omoi sat further down leaving a respectable three chairs between himself and Karui. Karui knew that he chooses the seat one because he was her guard so for his position, he was close enough to intervene, if necessary, but he was showing respect to her and Naruto by not sitting to close to her.
The server named Ayame took their orders before leaving the three alone in private. Karui needed to use this time she had to get to know her future spouse more. She needed to try to shift the dynamics of their relationship on its head. Right now, everything was up to him. She felt as though since the moment the Raikage had selected her to be used as an instrument of peace between their two villages that she no longer had a say in her own life! She couldn't accept this. Naruto is younger than her the boy just turned 7 years old today. She should be able to outwit him and make him eat from her palms. She was attractive and smart, so she had no doubt that she would be able to have a strong voice here within Konoha for being married to such a prestigious person. She just needed to play her cards right. If she was able to do that and get his backing by controlling him, she would be able to gain a strong ally for her clan's revival her within the walls.
"Lord Naruto what is your intention for me?"
She needed to know what he was expecting of her. She had boldly taken the seat next to him as a wife, but the Raikage made it clear to her that her life was completely in the hands of Naruto. She herself didn't want to be reduced to a servant or any type of servitude. She was already struggling with being forced into this marriage she would despise him if he treated her as a slave or anything less than a clan heiress like she was. So, if she was able to find out Naruto intention for her if displeasing, she needed to be able to persuade him otherwise.
Naruto was quiet for a moment before responding calmly "I am assuming you are asking if I intend to allow you to become a shinobi or not Karui-san."
Karui nodded her head in agreement with what he said, "I intend on letting you follow your own path. I know this marriage was probably forced upon you as it was me. So, what is it that you want to do? I support your decision either way."
Karui was taking back she kind of expected him to abuse the authority that he was given over her, but here he was saying that he would allow her to pick her own path. That was completely opposite of what she was expecting.
"Well, if it pleases Lord Naruto, I'd like to still become a shinobi. I was not allowed to join the shinobi academy in Kumogakure because of the Raikage order. And I have been training diligently in hopes of becoming one still."
Naruto eyed her she couldn't tell at all what he was thinking.
"Are you prepared to kill for Konoha?" He said plainly.
Does he think she is some sort of child? She knows that shinobi will have to kill.
"I understand that killing is a part of a shinobi's role. Lord Naruto-sama."
Naruto huffed the only emotion that he showed her so far was annoyance. "That is not what I meant by the question Karui-san are you willing to kill for the village of Konoha."
Karui was deep in thought now.
What the fuck is up with this guy, she thought at first, he had a sense of humbleness about him if the way he spoke to the citizens was a hint. He didn't have a bigoted tone with anyone, yet their first real conversation he was talking to her as if she was a child like she didn't understand that shinobi's kill! She was the older one here!
Then it hit her 'Are you willing to kill for Konoha' he wasn't asking her if she was willing to kill. Although at first glance that maybe what it sounds like, but that for Konoha part was the most important part of the question. He was seeming to ask her if she was ready to devote herself and her life to another village! Had she cut ties with her home village?
Is this some sort of test? Did the hokage put him up to this? Does he think that Kumogakure sent her as a spy?
Her response was critical if that was the case. If they suspected her of being a spy for Kumogakure than her life here no doubt would be under even more scrutiny than what was already going to be applied to her. Yet she couldn't bring herself to say that she was ready, because in truth she wasn't she couldn't see herself fighting with her old friends and family for Konoha. She mentally wasn't prepared for it. She had thought that it would be as simple as just going to a different school. But the life of a shinobi isn't that simple. One day she may have to kill people she once looked at as friends and family. But if she said otherwise Naruto's suspicion of her would rise, but she also can't lie. So, she will feign ignorance.
"I am not sure exactly what you mean then Lord Naruto-sama"
Naruto looked at her coldly before looking between her an Omoi. Omoi seemed to also be thinking about his words before he noticed the man glance at him with a fiery look in his eye one of pure rage. Naruto assumed that the older boy caught on.
"Would you kill Kumogakure shinobi in the name of Konoha?" Naruto asked bluntly.
Karui was silent contemplating her answer she hadn't spoken up for a few minutes which Naruto took as the answer to his question.
"I intend to have you do as you please as my wife. Since we have been both forced her together it is not your fault you are no longer able to chase your dreams, but with your lack of dedication to my village for now I will not permit you to become a shinobi. Your silence speaks volumes but is understandable you have been forced into a political marriage, and it is understandable that you lack the resolve as an 8-year-old to kill people you once saw as friends and family. I will allow you to accompany me in school and have you enrolled with me but if upon reaching graduation you cannot convince me of your loyalty to me and my village, I will not permit you to become a shinobi."
Just who the fuck is this kid?
She had come here with the assumption that the 4th hokage kid was going to be a spoiled brat with the basic knowledge and thought process of your average 6–7-year-old shinobi candidate. But the boy present in front of her was conducting this conversation as though he was a clan head speaking to a foreign ambassador. She felt like she was having a diplomatic meeting and not a casual conversation with her fiancé. The emotionless tone in which Naruto was speaking to her made him hard to read. Even this location must have been strategically picked. Her being brand new to the village any place he picked would have already given him an advantage over her with her unable to find a sense of comfort with anything around her, but intentionally picking a place that he frequently went shifted the power scale even more into his favor because he was completely comfortable here and she was not. He was welcomed as if he owned the restaurant, and she was welcomed as a normal guest.
Add to the fact he has shown no emotion, and the only emotion shown was a hint of annoyance through his tone would add pressure to her even more. To answer his questions in a way that pleased him. Which would allow him to get even more information from her, this was no doubt all a power play to show her that she had no control over anything. This was like a diplomatic exchange between a powerhouse and a rookie nation. She had lost any negotiation power she had the moment her and Omoi had accepted his invitation to lunch. Matter fact she never had any in the first place!
So, him saying that he intended on letting her follow her own path was a trap? He just wanted to get my intention and figure out what I wanted to use against me. He had flipped my own scheme right in my face so smoothly I hadn't even realized before I spoke. He is different than any boy I met.
"I thank you for the opportunity to prove myself to you Lord Naruto-sama."
With this Naruto smiled his first positive expression she seen on his face since she met him. That was when the full realization hit her, she had been totally defeated he got what he wanted from her. A pledge of devotion outside of marriage vows or the words written within their village's treaty.
"I look forward to witnessing your devotion to me and my clan."
This verbiage did not fly over Karui head as the previous statement.
"You mean clans? You are the head of two different clans and as soon as my father passes technically you will be the patriarch of 3 clans."
With this Naruto smile faded and his face was back to unreadable
"Here in Konoha I am planning to have the Uzumaki and the Namikaze clans no longer viewed as two separate clans but of one clan since I am the clan heads of both clans, I have the knowledge and history as well as the jutsu of each, I will reform the clans. As such we will be known as the Uzumaki-Namikaze essentially one clan consisting of two names heritages and traditions. I and my Nara-k— I mean my Nara servant have been working diligently to document and rewrite the history and constitutions of my clans in order to conjoin the two. While maintain as much tradition and history as possible from both."
"And what of my clan? What is your plan for my clan how will you incorporate us."
"After your father dies, you will not need to bear the name of the Hekisan clan. Your name from now on will be Uzumaki-Namikaze Karui the first wife of Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze."
At this Karui slammed her first on the table. He was planning to wipe her clan off the face of the earth. No longer would a person have the clan's name of the Hekisan clan she cannot accept it. Before she could speak Omoi spoke up.
"I am sorry to interrupt Lord Uzumaki-Namikaze-sama, but if you would allow me to dismiss myself from this conversation, I believe it is best for me to not be present for such important clan talks seeing as though I am not a member."
Naruto looked at Omoi the boy's face was one of a person visibly angered he seemed to be just as upset with him as Karui was. Naruto had no doubt that the boy was trying to dismiss himself before he interrupted again and could say something he found offense. Naruto nodded and allowed the boy to get up and leave.
Karui took the opportunity of Omoi leaving to speak plainly to Naruto, her emotions getting the best of her she always struggled with controlling her outburst.
"That's horse shit, you're telling me that you're planning to wipe the history of my clan off the face of the earth!" Her anger was visible.
"No, you can teach the history, traditions, and jutsu of your clan to me and I will have it incorporated into my clan. But your clan's name yes will no longer exist."
She scuffed this was a nightmare. Her clansmen were already mortified with the idea of her clan moving officially from their native lands of Kumogakure to Konoha. But they all had expressed hopes and had solace that she would make their clan great again within the walls of Konoha. Her own father had expressed his desire for her to make her clan renowned amongst Konoha. Now her fiancé was saying that he intends to get rid of the Hekisan name from this world. How would her former clansmen view her? As a failure and a sellout.
"I cannot accept this."
Naruto looked at her questioningly.
"What did you believe was going to happen? Karui-san"
"I-I don't know I thought that I would have three last names, I thought that the Hekisan clan would just simply move location and restart here in Konoha Not be fucking dismantled here as well just who the fuck do you think you are."
Naruto looked at Karui in the eyes his face showing neither compassion nor hate. Neither softness of hardness. "Listen to me Karui, Firstly you will speak to me in private and in public with the respect. You would give to your clan heads and husband back in Kumogakure, because that is what I am to you now. Secondly get it through your head that the Hekisan clan in name will no longer exist. Now it is up to you weather the traditions and history of the clan is also will forever be lost as well. As I said I will allow the history and the traditions/ techniques of your clan you be integrated and represented in the new clan I'm creating equally but in name it will not exist. Because you are my first wife and are sacrificing so much, I allow this representation within my clan, think of it as a wedding gift and the assurance some part of your clan will survive, but that relies solely on your cooperation with me."
Karui was glaring daggers at Naruto. Before she could rebuttal, they heard a knock at the door Ayame had returned with their food. Stepping into the room after receiving permission from Naruto. Ayame could feel the tension. She wasn't sure what lord Naruto did to the foreign girl, but he had her riled up. If the glaring looks in her eyes meant anything.
She quickly set down their food and drinks before promptly dismissing herself. Naruto quickly dug into his food, but Karui was struggling to eat she was so upset and sad at hearing Naruto's words she couldn't bring herself to eat the only thing on her mind was the survival of her clan. She was thinking about all the things that Naruto had said.
He was playing with her! First, he said that he would allow her to pursue anything that she had wanted. Then upon hearing what she wanted gave her conditions, now he was using her clan against her. She was definitely losing this power struggle.
As a clan heiress she had attended many meeting with her father and other clans within Kumogakure. So she was aware how clan heads negotiated and interacted amongst each other. This was no different than some of the heated discussions she has witnessed her father have. This wasn't a simple get to know each other conversation. This conversation was setting the grounds upon which their relationship would be built on. She had been brought up and trained as an heiress of a clan, so she had the political knowledge required to recognize what is going on. She needed a new strategy she was trying to fight a fire with more fire. She needed to fall back on her heiress training the only thing she knew that could help her in this battle of words.
Standing she got up still having not ate a single bite of food she then prostate herself putting her forehead to the ground before speaking.
"I apologize to my Lord for my loss of temper and lack of composure. I am extreme sorry for disputing your decisions. If my lord would allow it, please forgive me and allow me to speak freely once again. Lord Naruto-sama"
"My decision was made before I even met you Karui-san. This is not personal. I am not trying to wipe your clan off the face of the earth in name out of malice nor spite. This is a political power play I'm making within Konoha and Kumogakure. I want my new clan to be as strong as possible and I believe that having some of your clan traditions/history and techniques to be incorporated into my clan will no doubt accomplish that. But our duty is to maintain peace by putting up with each other. The reason why I don't want you to hold on to your clan's name is many. Firstly, there will be animosity from shinobi towards you period your name remaining Hekisan will draw more unneeded attention to you and make the target you have even bigger. Secondly, I do not wish to represent your clan, me not being from Kumogakure I believe I am unworthy to represent it since I have no innate love for it. Thirdly although saying I am the clan head of three clans would add more prestige to me, I don't want the burden of having to balance even more traditions and doctrines that come with your clan. To me it is simpler to integrate them fourthly, it would swing the balance of voting within the council two much as it is now me and my clan are treated as two different clans although I am the only member. So, I get two votes in any council vote. I already have to deal with the clan heads and civilian council members pressuring me because of this. If I were to add your clan to that I'd get three and that's just again too much of a burden I don't want nor need to bear. Lastly in order for you to keep you clan's name I'd have to allow it and take it as my own right, then once we die who will carry that name? Do you view this marriage legitimately or are you here like me out of obligation to you home village? We would need to sire children to even have a chance of rejuvenating your clan if you kept your clans name, so it is pointless to keep it. You may get up I accept your apology and we can speak freely."
As she stood up Naruto reached for her hand and gently took it. The contact made her blush she was sure if she was his color, she'd be beat red. She looked up from her hand in his and her gaze met his. Being this close to him she could smell him, he smelt of pine trees and sawdust as though he was a forest himself. His eyes were a blue as the sky and held a compassionate gaze. His face was slightly blushed showing that he was also uncomfortable with their current closeness. For the first time in her life her heart skipped a beat staring at a boy her heart was racing. He gave her a warm charming smile one that before she thought wasn't possible for him.
"I don't want us to be enemies Karui-san, if at all possible, I'd like for us to be friends. We both were forced into this for peace but there is no reason we can't make the best of this. I will support you from now on with all my might if you allow me to."
Karui was blushing as she just wordlessly nodded her head. "O-okay Naruto-sama"
Naruto let go of her hand and Karui shook her head pulling herself together, no way was he that charming. His hard exterior has such a charming interior.
"You don't have to call me Naruto-sama anymore Karui-san you can call me Naruto. I meant it I would like for us to be able to coexist even if not as friends."
"Okay, Naruto-kun, I would also like the same." Karui went and sat down eating her food she was lost in thought for the entire remainder of their meal. She was so confused at what just happened, but Naruto had a way with words and was so handsome charming and cunning that he had manage to take the anger right out of her in a matter of moments. She decided it best to let things be as they were she still had time to change his perspective, so nothing was over yet.
They finished their meal and exited the private booth.
"Omoi-san my servants will take you back to my clan compound. Please make yourself at home in our guest house."
Turning to speak to his servants he said "Please take care of the compound and return to your duties. No one not even Jiraiya is allowed in the main family compound until I get back."
They all nodded at him in understanding before taking their leave with Omoi in trail.
Turning to Karui Naruto said "let's go to the shinobi academy, they should just be finishing lunch so you will be able to sit in on the last lecture of the day and I can get you more accustomed to the village."
Karui nodded at him, and he turned to leaded her to the Konoha Shinobi Academy. He was happy with how their conversation had gone earlier. He was able to deduce that even though she was sent by the Raikage for now he is sure she isn't a spy and truly there to only try to keep the peace. He knows this because how she reacted when he said he planned to dissolve her clan. She was angry like anyone else would be but didn't continue to try and fight against his decision. He figured she chose this path because she didn't want to upset him. And if she was a spy she wouldn't really care if she made him upset our not. Her choosing to talk about his decision at a later time proved that she didn't want to make him mad and break possible break the fragile alliance just formed between their villages.
Which meant that the Raikage has not sent her here with ulterior motivates. He also thinks that he did a good job reminding her that he was her husband and therefore the leader and was the final say. He believed that she would try to test him and maybe even use him to her benefit, but he swiftly reminded her that she was his wife only because he would allow it to be that way. He could make her anything he wanted. So, he had all the power and authority over her.
All in all, he was satisfied with the conversation and more so in how quickly Karui seemed to adapt. She had a fire within her that he admires. She was bold and confronted him on everything he said that she had contention with. Then she also showed humility and grace begging for his forgiveness upon realizing just how much power he had over her. So, she was smart. Just what he would expect from a clan's heiress.
As they approached the gates to the shinobi academy Karui spoke
"Wait today you turned 7 correct Naruto-kun, so you were admitted early into the shinobi academy?"
Naruto shook his head "No actually my class is the first class in Konoha to have started the academy at 6 years old. So, everyone in my class has been attending the academy for the last 9 months. "
Karui was surprised she had been under the impression that every shinobi village started their academies at the age of 7 but Konoha had changed that she wondered why.
They walked the halls until they reached the principal's office where Naruto explained everything to the principle who was an older man, he listened to everything Naruto said.
"I will allow you to have her as your guest today Naruto-sama but I expect you to take responsibility for her I will also take her application but I will have to talk to Hokage-sama in order to verify everything you told me." Naruto nodded bowing before exiting Karui did the same before following him into the hallway. They made their way towards his class. As they pass by students Naruto could hear the rumors about who was with him. Every one of them had the same conclusion that it was clear to see who ever was with Naruto wasn't from Konoha.
Naruto knocked before waiting for Iruka-sensei to answer the door. The door opened and Iruka sensei greeted Naruto with a warm smile. Which Naruto returned before gesturing to Karui while handing Iruka sensei the note he received from the principle which stated Karui was allowed to join Naruto in today's class. Iruka-sensei read the note before his eyebrows raised in surprise. He turned to Karui and spoke.
"Welcome to Konoha Karui-dono I hope you enjoy my lecture."
Karui bowed respectfully saying a quick thank you before Iruka led the pair into the class.
Karui followed Naruto in, all the eyes of the students were looking from Naruto to Karui questionly. All but one set of eyes. Kauri's eyes met with the eyes of a girl with dark hair and clear eyes. Her eyes looked as though they were those of a blind person, but Karui wasn't so uneducated that she thought that.
That girl is a Hyuga no doubt.
Said Hyuga was glaring at Karui as though Karui was responsible for some horrendous crime, while everyone else was curious about her this girl showed nothing but hostility and malice.
Does she know I'm from Kumogakure?
She was taken out of her thoughts by Iruka-sensei.
"Hello class, joining us for the rest of the day is Naruto-sama... friend... She isn't from here so please welcome her. Her name is Karui-dono"
Karui was taking back by Iruka's honorific but sense she is now Naruto's fiancé it makes sense he'd give her a prestigious honorific bowing she said.
"I am pleased to meet you pardon my interruption in your class. I will be in your care."
Naruto led her to a table that held a single boy sitting there, he had triangles on his cheeks, wearing a hoodie inside his hood on top his head sat a small dog that Karui thought was cute.
Reaching the table Naruto asked the boy to move over to the end which the boy did allowing her to sit next to Naruto.
"Karui-chan this is Kiba-san he is the clan heir to the Inuzuka clan. Actually our entire class but three people consist of clan heirs so be mindful of that."
Karui nodded taking in the information "It is a pleasure to meet you Kiba-dono"
"Like wise Karui-chan so where you from?"
Karui looked quickly to Naruto who shook his head indicating she didn't have to tell him that. Naruto when he spoke to the principle earlier had mentioned to the man that later today during the festival her and Naruto's marriage and the alliance that would form with it from Kumogakure would be announced then. Karui figured that's why Iruka sensei gave her so a brief introduction to the class. So they would know soon enough if she kept quiet today she could at least make a good impression with his peers before the prejudice of where she is from took hold.
"Oh, I'm from the Northeast of here."
Kiba nodded his head in understanding " Oh so like you're from the land of hot springs cool I've always wanted to vacation there I have heard they have a lot more people of your complexion there. Not that I think anything is wrong with how you look… your beautiful it's just that there aren't many people in this village with you skin tone."
Kiba was blushing so hard his face was turning red. Naruto bust out laughing at this and Karui was surprised this was the first time she seen Naruto so visibly happy. It was obvious to her that Naruto considered this boy to be a friend.
"Kiba no way you got to flirt better than that dude!"
At this Kiba's face blushed heavier "Yo shut it dude, it's hard to have a good conversation speaking across you like this."
Naruto face showed a mischievous look "Okay switch seats with me then."
Kiba was shocked "Umm- no its okay I'm sure Karui-chan doesn't want to sit next to a stranger we just met after all."
But Naruto was enjoying seeing the usually overconfident boy who always made fun of him blushing so hard at the sight of Karui. He got up from his seat and gestured for Karui to sit in his seat so now that she was in the middle of the two boys. Karui not wanting to go against Naruto switched seats although she wasn't fond of him seemingly uncaring that another man was openly flirting with her.
Wait why do I care that he doesn't care this is just a political marriage anyway!
Karui thought if Naruto didn't care she wouldn't think too hard into it nor her feelings about it. She wasn't planning on entertaining this to long though it wouldn't look good for anyone if this was allowed to continue forever at least in public they had to keep up the appearance of some sort of unity.
Naruto watched as for the rest of the class Kiba made small idle chatter with Karui. Naruto found it extremely funny how his friend was smitten by the looks of Karui. He figured her having an obvious foreign look to her added to her appeal. He himself was at first wowed by her looks as well.
The rest of the class seemed to always find a reason to glance at his table mainly the boys. Even the Uchiha was glancing at Karui from time to time. The only person Naruto noticed who took no interest at all was Hinata-chan.
The final bell rang indicating that school was out Naruto got up along with Kiba and Karui and proceed to exit class with the rest of his classmates. Naruto noticed that the Uchiha had rushed out of his seat and was the second person to leave class following right behind Hinata.
"Hey Hinata."
Sasuke had finally managed to catch up to the Hyuga girl she was always in a hurry now a days to leave the school he manage to finally reach her and grab her shoulder to stop her movements. Students were passing by around them her back was still to him but he could feel her shaking slightly under his grip.
She turned around Sasuke saw her cheeks were slightly flushed and her eyes held a blank look that didn't seem to match her face.
"What can I help you with Sasuke?" The girl said to him plainly.
Sasuke was a little taken back although they only spoke briefly before Hinata always used some sort of polite honorific with his name. Even though he never used it for anyone most people always gave him the courtesy.
Letting go of her he decided that maybe he should try to change a little bit if he wanted to get at the dobe.
"Wow, Hinata I didn't think you thought so friendly of me that you'd just use my name?" Sasuke said jokingly smiling to let her know that he wasn't mad and was trying to make honest conversation.
"Well, you don't honor me with an appropriate honorific even though we are the same in social status so why should I give you any courtesy."
The young Uchiha was taken back by her tone. Was this really the same shy and unequitable nice Hinata he was familiar with her cold tone seemed to indicate he was bothering her right now. Like she'd prefer to be anywhere else but here.
"I also advise that you don't put your hands on me such actions if reported to my father would only increase the animosity between our clans."
Okay yeah Sasuke had to take a completely different approach than what he had intended to do, because this wasn't turning out anywhere close to how he planned.
Bowing apologetically, he said "I apologize for my earlier rudeness Hinata-denka, I am not trying to insight more hostility between us. I simply wanted to offer to walk you home today."
Hinata looked at him quiet for a moment before her eyes looked passed him, he saw her face sadden then harden in anger "Thank you for the offer Sasuke-denka but I will have to decline."
Hinata turned and walked away from him leaving him speechless. He didn't expect a flat out refusal.
He turned to look in the direction of where Hinata had looked prior to her rejection and saw the Kiba, Naruto and Karui were making their way out of the school Kiba seemed to be having a one sided conversation with the new girl and Naruto was looking at him. He had seen his attempts to talk with Hinata.
Sasuke's hand clenched in a fist turning away from the boy looking at him. He walked out of the school he was embarrassed to have his rejection witnessed by the Uzumaki.
I can't talk to her at the academy if the dobe is around because she will reject me. That is the only explanation I can accept. She obviously just doesn't want to be seen with anyone by him. That's okay it works out better if I can start meeting her in secret. Or maybe I should try Ino. She has been completely avoiding Naruto all together and hanging with Sakura more no?
Sakura approached him out of nowhere shaking Sasuke out his thoughts.
"Hey Sasuke-sama want to walk home together? I heard you ask Hinata I figured you would want some company?"
Sasuke huffed at her scowling "Did you accomplish an honorary shinobi achievement lately I'm not aware of?"
Sakura shook her head no sadly.
"Are you from a noble clan of Konoha?"
Sakura shook her head no again.
"Then I'll pass Sakura."
He said pushing past her leaving the girl behind. He exited the gates thinking about Hinata he would claim the girl as his and laugh in the "Holy Naruto-sama" face when he did. Smirking to himself as he rounded a corner heading to his clan compound his heart raced at the idea of snatching the girl away from Naruto. He had noticed in the last three months that the two weren't talking to each other anymore. Hinata still greeted Naruto and today even gave the boy a present for his birthday. She didn't sit next to him anymore though. Sasuke figure that they had some sort of argument which had led to their current standoff. Maybe he also had an argument with Ino too. Now that he thinks about it both girls had once been pure Naruto lackeys now barely interacted with his rival.
Maybe he could apply the tactic to both girls and see who budged first he sure the blow would hit equally hard regardless. Plus didn't Ino use to like him. She was also a clan heiress so it'd be an acceptable relationship approved by his father.
He felt is heart race as he thought about Hinata's sad face he loved that cute, pained expression on her face it matched the picture he had of her as a lost little puppy that she was. She was defiantly his preferred target. But Ino had also been looking more lost lately although her sad looks didn't interest him as much.
Today he didn't get the anticipated results but he was in no hurry to get through to the girl so he could wait. Sakura was an annoying nuisance as always. Maybe one day if she persisted, he'd pay her to serve in his home. Assuming she fails to become a shinobi, which was highly likely.
Sasuke entered his clans' compound and smiled at the busyness going on within it as he watched his clansmen get ready for the festival setting up fireworks in their main courtyard. He saw his brother walking with someone his size in his arms. Sasuke quickly recognized the girl as his twin sister who should be bed ridden!
Rushing over to them he excitedly greeted his brother.
"Hey Nii-san!"
Itachi who was facing away from his brother at hearing his voice turned and smiled to his younger brother.
"Hello Sasuke-kun how are you today say high to Suske."
Sasuke rolled his eyes he didn't know why Itachi cared so much about their weak little sister even their father had said he was ashamed to have sired such a sickly Uchiha. It made the head family look impotent. So Sasuke didn't think much of her unlike their brother.
"Sup Suske. What are you doing Itachi I thought father didn't like Suske leaving the main family compound?"
"That is true, but Suske is 7 and she still hasn't participated in the festival today so I'm sneaking her into the village with me to participate."
Sasuke eyes shot open at this Itachi was intentionally going against fathers' orders! He would be in big trouble if father found out. "That's not right Itachi nii-san you can get in big trouble if father finds out."
"Well let's hope he doesn't find out then" Itachi said smiling to his little brother before turning to leave the compound with Suske.
Sasuke couldn't pass this opportunity to be with his brother even if he had to deal with his brothers doting behavior towards their little sisters. Although Suske and he are twins technically Sasuke is older because he came out first if only by a few minutes, but still that meant he was the 2nd in line behind Itachi. Itachi was always busy, so he rarely had a chance to be with him, and although Itachi would be doting over their little sister he still couldn't pass up the chance to spend time with their older brother.
"I'll come with you then!"
At this Itachi chuckled at his younger brother "Well let's go before the streets get to crowded"
Itachi led his siblings out of the clans' compound and into the streets of Konoha.
Suske weakly tugged at Itachi shirt trying to get his attention. Itachi looked down at his younger sister with a beaming smile on his face. Her face was flushed Itachi couldn't tell if it was because her illness or something else. He watched her struggle to say the words her weakness from her illness made his heartache. She struggled to even speak and keep her hazel brown eyes open her mouth was moving so he knew she was attempting to speak to him. Still cradling her in his arms he lifted her so that her mouth was a few inches away from his ear.
"Nii-san can I sit on your shoulders." She whispered weakly her voice was barely audible to his ears.
Itachi smiled at his little sisters "of course you can Suske-chan but wont you get tired sitting up there I won't be able to support you as much as if I hold you like this."
Coughing Suske pulled Itachi shirt to make him lean down again.
"Its okay" she coughed out.
Itachi nodded before adjusting her in his arms. She barely weighted anything to him, due to her illness she was underweight for her age and height but thanks to her nurses she wasn't extremely underweight as she uses to be. He thought that he will teach her sign language so that she would be able to communicate with him a little easier. He felt shamed thinking it took him so long to come up with this idea. She struggled up to this point to communicate verbally with him.
He lifted her gently over his head, so she was sitting on his shoulders. Itachi looked up to see her eyes the widest he had ever seen. Usually, her eyes held this lifelessness to them which caused her eyes to appear halfway closed whenever he'd see her. He believed her exhaustion played a part in this as well, but upon looking at her native village for the first time he could see all of eyes. He thought her eyes were hazel but in the fullness of the sunlight he noticed that only the edges of her pupils where brown the rest of her iris was a green color. Making her the first Uchiha in history to have such light-colored eyes. The rest had almost pitch black or dark brown eyes.
"Beautiful" Itachi said still looking up at his younger sister. Hearing this she looked down at her brother to see him staring at her lovingly. She heard him say the words beautiful so looked at him to see what he was looking at so she too could admire something pretty, only to see her brother staring at her.
Blushing she tried to hide her face with her hands which caused Itachi to smile and chuckle loudly.
Sasuke watched the exchange and wished that he could receive complements from his older brother as often as Suske did.
They explored the village walking around different shops together Itachi had bought snacks for both his younger siblings. The sun was now setting, and it would soon be dark in about thirty minutes. All the people of Konoha who were outside for the festival were making their way to the Hokage's tower for the Hokage message.
Itachi led his siblings to a good spot where he could see the top of the tower where the Hokage would appear he chose a location that was suitable for everyone within his group so no one wouldn't be able to see and hear the hokage words.
About 15 minutes later the crowed quieted as movement was spotted at the top of the Hokage tower.
The hokage approached a microphone with speakers connected spread out on top of the tower to project his voice to the citizens below.
"Greetings ladies and gentlemen it is an honor to address the citizens of Konoha. Today marks 7 years since the horrific accident of the Kyuubi no Yoko or Nine Tailed Fox. Thanks to the bravery of the 4th hokage and his son Lord Uzumaki-Namikaze Naruto we, were able to defeat the greatest calamity to our world!"
Sasuke watched in annoyance as the citizens cheered. Even his sister at seeing the cheers by everyone else struggled to manage a few claps. She had a bright smile on her face he'd never seen on her before. Matter of fact he barely seen his sister at all today was the longest time they had spent together and although she was weak and literally sweating just having to expend so much strength to sit up on their brothers' shoulders. All she had been doing tonight was smiling. Seeing her like this he did agree that she was beautiful and finally showing some elegance as an Uchiha.
"I hope you never forget the sacrifice made by Lord 4th and Lord Naruto. Make sure that you appreciate your loved ones today because tomorrow isn't promised. With that being said there is one more achievement that we all owe to the Uzumaki-Namikaze clan that we all should strive to repay with kindness. Lord Naruto has managed to bring two villages together through marrying a clan heiress of Kumogakure. As of this day forth Konoha and Kumogakure have found peace do to their unity! Let's give a cheer to our great hero for his continued sacrifice for our village!"
At this the entire village erupted in cheers people jumping up in joy and excitement at the words of the Hokage. Rumors had spread across the village about the attempted kidnapping years ago. But even before that it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Konoha number one enemy was Kumogakure. Years of hatred had molded within the village for Kumogakure so to hear that Naruto had brought peace to the village. Was exciting news to the citizens of Konoha.
Sasuke was shocked he thought back to that dark skinned beauty that appeared with Naruto in class.
So that's the dobe bride from Kumogakure?
Smiling internally, he thought this was very interesting.
"Without further delay may the 9 tails festival begin!"
With that fireworks were launched into the sky and the parade began starting at the base of the hokage tower and would go up and down every street of Konoha.
The three Uchiha's spent the rest of the festival together enjoying their time as siblings.
