Ch 2:
Behind the stage lay darkness in the air. The entire theater company was backstage, except for the few that were on stage during the scene. When Sara came off stage, I could hear her breathing from like 50 feet away. I thought at first her body was catching up from her running off stage or something. But on second thought, it didn't look like that. It persisted. As I was moving closer to where she was, she had just backed up against the wall and started hyperventilating. But guess who was also right there. Next to Sara-the daughter of the counselor that I hate. Kristen. She was sitting on the floor, next to Sara. Next thing I saw Kristen place two fingers on Sara's wrist. I knew exactly what she was doing! I had learned it at that medical camp I went to at that college. And I had recalled Lorri telling me that Kristen knew what to do if someone was having a panic attack. But in lifeguarding, we are trained for this too. And I wanted to do it my way because I actually have a certification that says that I can help in a situation like this and Kristen doesn't. So that makes me better than her. Besides, I was still salty about what happened 4 years ago when I got in trouble for something I shouldn't have.
"Uh hi, I was wondering if you needed any help or anything over here. I am a lifeguard and so I've trained for this at one of the facilities I've worked at."
Kristen responded: "We're actually good over here, thank you though"
I replied "ok just let me know as well if you want to go to the hospital. I'll drive you"
"Okay, sounds good" Kristen said.
I was salty.
So I went back and snapped at Kristen "get out of my emergency action plan!"
Kristen looked at me with hatred then passive-aggressively asked "you want to work in EMS, right?"
I just responded "yes" as I was walking away I aggressive told her "Have a QUIET shift at your first shift as a psychiatrist. That's what Leah said she wanted to be. Kristen immediately snapped "Yeah whatever you say you ambulance driver" at that moment, I got fierce. "I know you did not just call me an ambulance driver-you know what- psychology is not even a science"
We were arguing back and forth and insulting each other. When Sara shouted "guys I decided I want to go to the hospital"
"Let's get in my car then" I proclaimed. So all 3 of us trickled into my car.
