All right, readers. Here is the 59th chapter of this story!
Now, this chapter will start day 2 of the ride on the Excess Express. For this chapter, after eating breakfast, Andrew and his group go to Pennington to find out that something else was stolen from the Ratooey Businessman, which happens to be his briefcase with Nitro Honey Syrup in it.
Also, the culprit is revealed to be Zip Toad after finding a document in his room, and everyone else on the train finds out about it. After preventing an altercation in the form of an angry mob, Andrew and his crew decide to apprehend Zip Toad themselves, who happens to be hiding in Andrew's room.
Additionally, Zip Toad reveals his true form, being a foe that Andrew fought previously, Andrew drops off the Shell Earrings to the Waitress, and the Gold Ring to Toodles; the latter of which gives him a good time, and makes him feel excited.
Other things that'll happen include the group finding out who Zip Toad 'really' was, getting Andrew to feel some trauma from the experience, being given the job to go into the Riverside Station to lift the draw bridge, and Ms. Mowz finds out that Andrew's been collecting badges, thus earning him her respect and his seventh and final partner and friend to travel with him.
And some other stuff will occur too. How will this go for them? Read and find out, now!
IN ANDREW'S CABIN - THE NEXT MORNING ON THE EXCESS EXPRESS:
A new morning has arrived on the Excess Express, and most of the passengers were getting up to get by another luxurious morning on the train. In Andrew's room, in particular, we see that the muscular man had already gotten out of bed a couple of hours prior.
After the fun that he had with Flurrie last night, he was able to get a good amount of sleep before the following morning had arrived. The reason that he had woken up first was because he was worried about the well-being of his friends, and Ms. Mowz. He had to check on them to make sure nothing happened to them.
They were all sound asleep. They were alive and well. Meaning that nothing tragic and horrible happened to them. He couldn't help but let out a soft sigh of relief while making sure that he didn't wake up.
Since he was awake, there was no use in him going back to sleep. He didn't want to leave his cabin either, since he didn't want to leave them alone without him here to make sure they were safe. So instead, he had been spending a good amount of time doing some morning exercises, such as stretches, squats, and curls.
Even though he was already strong, he wanted to remain in a top-fit physical condition not just for himself, but for his friends, and Ms. Mowz. If he was going to keep them safe, the most he could do was to keep acting like the big strong man that he is.
Currently, Andrew was doing some push-ups on the floor in between the bunk and the couch. He was really into doing it when he heard Flurrie yawning and waking up.
'Apparently', she had noticed that Andrew wasn't in bed, and she wondered where he disappeared to. Her answer was quickly given when she saw Andrew on the floor, doing some push-ups like the hunky muscular man that he is.
"Ah, uh, err... Uh, darling?" Flurrie yawned and rubbed her eyes. "Is that you on the floor, Andrew?"
"Yup," Andrew grunted while doing push-ups. "That's where I am. I've already been up, so I decided to kill time while you guys were asleep."
"My, my, my!" Flurrie gasped as she floated out of the bed and approached Andrew. "'Pray' tell, whatever may you be doing at a wonderful time such as this? Would you by any chance be exercising?"
"That's right," Andrew grunted as he kept doing push-ups. "Currently I'm doing some push-ups. Wanting to make sure I stay strong for today."
"Oh, my! Mercy me, darling!" Flurrie yelped. "My, aren't you a brave and bold man for doing such a thing? I must say, this is simply marvelous. I am just so delighted to see my hunky muscular man do push-ups and remain strong so he can deal with whatever hooligan tries to get us with that sticky yummy threat."
"Yup. That's exactly what I'm doing," Andrew murmured as he kept doing push-ups. "I wanna maintain my strength and durability, so I can make sure that you guys can remain protected...from this jerk who wrote that sticky yummy threat."
"Why, that is 'absolutely' astounding," Flurrie couldn't help but comment seductively. "That's the way I love my man; all brave, bold, strong but with a sweet and tender underbelly. Shan't you agree with me, sweetums?"
"Yeah," Andrew grunted as he blushed while continuing the push-ups.
By now, the rest of the group had started to wake up as Flurrie kept watching Andrew in admiration while he continued doing push-ups on the floor. Goombella was the first to notice as she yawned, grabbed her helmet, and got down from the top bunk.
"Uhhhhh...morning, Andrew," Goombella greeted in a groggy type of tone.
"Morning, Goombella," Andrew said simply as he kept doing his push-ups.
Goombella let out a yawn as she got out her brush and started brushing her hair to make it straight. It was then she noticed that Andrew was doing some push-ups.
"Wowsers," Goombella blinked as she finished brushing her hair and put her helmet back on. "Andrew? Aren'tcha doing some push-ups?"
"That's right," Andrew confirmed. "I'm just getting myself into good physical condition."
"Jeepers Andrew," Goombella gawked in amazement. "Are you 'totally' going all macho on us so you could deck any creep who tries to threaten us with a sticky yummy fate?"
"Uh-huh," by now, Andrew was done doing his push-ups as he jumped back onto his feet and showed his muscles. "That's what I'm planning. And man! Do I feel in good shape this morning?! Really. I feel great!"
"I'm sure you do," Goombella smirked. "You're 'totally' ready to take on the day for sure."
"Wow," Koops had gotten down from the top bunk along with Yoshiam and Bobbery. "Man... No one's gonna mess with you when you have muscles like those..."
"You said it, Koops," Andrew smiled as he dropped his arms.
"Well, I do believe that you are 'definitely' a brawny handsome brute," Flurrie said in admiration. "You are ten times the man that I hoped you were. You must be proud!"
"I have to concur, dear boy," Bobbery agreed. "Those muscles are certainly quite the perfect touch on a man such as yourself. The kind of blokes that I've witnessed hitting the deck like you just did were the ones confined to the barracks for insubordination. At least, the ones that I've seen when I was in the Navy, if you may."
"Yeah. I can see that happening, Bobbery," Andrew tugged on his handkerchief.
"They're right. You are really strong," Vivian spoke up meekly after adjusting her witch hat and combing her pink hair. "I think you are terrific with how you do those push-ups. I... I 'really' think that you are a strong, handsome, and sweet man, Andrew."
"Awww, thanks for that, Vivian," Andrew had to say with a blush. "Really. I appreciate you and how honest you are with me. That was 'really' nice."
"Oh, well, it was nothing," Vivian gave him a shy look as she blushed faintly.
"Hmm mmm mmm. Well, I think it works nicely for your muscular build, my sweet," Ms. Mowz commented, with a sack over her back. "Yes. A man such as you ought to be proud of your condition. You are certainly a sight for sore eyes."
"Ex-CUSE me? What's that supposed to mean?" Goombella turned around to sneer at her. "And what's in the sack? Didja steal ANYTHING from the passengers?"
"Relax, Goombella. It's just a sack of Star Pieces that I found lying around the Excess Express," Ms. Mowz huffed and calmly dismissed her attitude. "They didn't belong to anyone. They were discarded. And why shouldn't I be able to treat Andrew with some goods that I found for him?"
"Well, uh... Thanks, Ms. Mowz," Andrew thanked her sheepishly as she gave him the Star Pieces, which he pocketed. "But next time you do that, please let me know beforehand so that I'm aware of it, OK?"
"I will gladly take you on that offer, my handsome muscular cheese hunk," Ms. Mowz winked at him. "That is a promise."
"Right," Andrew said. "Glad to hear it."
"All right! Presto's finished his push-ups, and we're all awake! Can we go get some breakfast?" Yoshiam had to wonder. "We're gonna need it to get by today if we're to catch this crook that wrote that sticky yummy threat to us!"
"Good idea, Yoshiam," Andrew grabbed his backpack and put his Super Boots back on. "Let's see what they're serving up today."
All seven of them nodded at that as the muscular man left the cabin that he was assigned to. The Goomba, Koopa, Wind Spirit, Yoshi, Shadow Siren, Bob-omb, and Little Mouser followed right behind him as they went into the dining car to eat some breakfast before starting another busy day...
By the time they had gotten to the dining car, they were immediately given a seat at a nearby table. It didn't take long for the group to get their breakfast.
While Yoshiam had a breakfast fruit special of Bananas, Apples, Strawberries, and Peachy Peaches, the rest of them had either Fried Eggs, an Omelette Meal, or Mushroom Pancakes covered in either Honey Syrup or Maple Syrup.
Goombella was satisfied that they had some Goomnuts which she hadn't seen in a while, so she had a couple of those with her breakfast. She was hoping that she could have a nicely put-together Goomnut Butter and Jammin' Jelly sandwich like the ones her mother used to make for her as a little girl.
And while Yoshiam drank some Fresh Juice, everyone else had some Zess Tea, or in Koops's case, he had some fresh Koopa Tea. Needless to say, the group enjoyed a nice and well-balanced breakfast. After 15 minutes of eating, they were all done enjoying their breakfast and were ready to begin the day.
"Well guys, that was a great breakfast," Andrew smiled. "It's great to know that the food on the Excess Express tastes so great."
"Totally," Goombella beamed. "I'm so glad that they had some Goomnuts on this train. I certainly wasn't expecting any of those, y'know?"
"Me either," Andrew shrugged. "That was unexpected. Either way, from what we've experienced so far, they have some well-nourished meals on this train."
"Yeah! You said it, Presto! The food on this train rocks!" Yoshiam cheered. "I'm so glad that we've boarded the Excess Express!"
"Me too," Andrew remarked. "Now that we're full on breakfast, and we're ready to start the day, why don't we check on Pennington to see if he found out anything since last night?"
"Totally! I'm sure the creep will strike the train today," Goombella exclaimed. "Let's see if Pennington has gotten some leads on who may have written that note."
"Good idea," Koops nodded. "Might be our best idea to check with him to see if he found anything peculiar."
"My, my, my! I do believe that shall be our next objective," Flurrie gleamed joyously. "Let's pop in to see that Pennington fellow, shall we?"
"Got it, Presto," Yoshiam gave him a thumbs-up. "Let's see if ol' Pennington had found anything to help us catch this nut."
"Sure, Andrew," Vivian nodded. "We better go see him. Maybe he has some sort of clue that'll lead us to this culprit."
"Why, I most certainly agree with you there, old boy," Bobbery said. "I believe that this Pennington chap might have some kind of lead that shall be of some use to us, eh?"
"Hmm mmm mmm, very well, my muscular superstar," Ms. Mowz smirked. "Let's go pop in to check on Pennington then."
"Very good, guys," Andrew motioned. "Let's roll."
And so the eight of them left the dining car and headed to the passenger car to the left. Once they reached cabin #006, they approached the door, opened it, and went on into Pennington's room.
When they got in there, however, Pennington was in deep thought at what he had just learned. And in the room with him was the Ratooey Businessman from yesterday. And by the looks on his face, he was panicking and overly frantic about something.
"Jeepers," Goombella winced at this. "Wonder what's wrong with him, Andrew?"
"We're about to find out," Andrew then decided to get Pennington's attention. "Hey, Pennington? We're here again."
"Ah, my dear Mario!" Pennington declared as soon as he faced him. "Your timing is impeccable! A new case has arisen!"
"A new case?" Andrew was confused along with his group.
"Now then, Mr. Businessman, please explain the facts to my assistant, Mario," Pennington turned to the businessman before requesting from him.
"OK, OK, here's the deal..." The Businessman started explaining with a panicked tone. "When I woke up this morning, my briefcase was gone! It contained all the contracts for our next deal and even our new product prototype! If I don't recover it, I'll lose my job at the LEAST!"
"You lost something too?" Andrew queried, to which the Businessman just nodded hastily.
"Now, now, calm yourself... The next part is vital," Pennington tried to get him to ease up and simmer down. "So tell Mario very slowly."
"Yeah," Andrew agreed. "What is your latest product prototype supposed to be? It might help if you can explain it to me in further detail."
"Of course, of course..." The Businessman elaborated in fuller detail. "Our company's new product is 'Nitro Honey Syrup'... Used properly, it's an amazing product that can even raise the dead..."
"OK. That's amusing," Andrew crossed his arms before he encouraged him to continue. "Go on."
"But if mixed with the calcium from a seashell and a bit of gold..." The Ratooey Businessman then gulped before yelling out loud. "Well, then! The results are EXPLOSIVE!"
"Wait a minute... Wait a minute..." Andrew uttered while trailing off, realization kicking in as he dropped his arms. "Did you say seashell and a bit of gold? As in a pair of Shell Earrings and a Gold Ring?"
"The resulting goo-blast would immobilize everyone here in a sticky, yet yummy, shellac!" The Ratooey Businessman had his hands out in a way to emphasize the horrors of the impact.
It was then Andrew had a horrified expression on his face. The rather cryptic explanation he had just been given was becoming clear. The pieces were all coming together. The person who wrote that sticky yummy threat in his room was likely the same person who stole the Waitress's Shell Earrings, Toodle's Gold Ring, and the Ratooey Businessman's Briefcase which contains the Nitro Honey Syrup that he just explained to him about. There was no doubt about it. This culprit was gonna strike...today.
"If it's fallen into the wrong hands..." The Business had dreaded saying the next part since it was something that no man should have to fathom about. "Well, I could lose more than my job!"
"You could lose your life," Andrew said softly. "And everyone else's well-being would be in danger in a matter of seconds if that were to happen... We can't let that happen..."
At that moment, Pennington decided to pace back and forth as he, himself, was piecing together everything that he had learned, and was discussing it while pacing.
"Let's examine these facts, shall we? Someone has stolen your briefcase..." Pennington uttered. "Though you 'definitely' had it yesterday... Hmmmm..."
Pennington took a deep breath before continuing while pacing some more. "And the train has not stopped at all in the intervening time..."
A few moments later, he recalled something crucial that he found out yesterday, as he then stopped pacing.
"I have it! Rudimentary, my dear Mario! Rudimentary!" Pennington declared. "The thief is still on the train! ...Ah-ha!"
With that, Pennington then turned around to face Andrew before asking him a rather important question. "Mario! Have you spoken to the waitress and the lady in cabin 2?"
"Yes. Both of them have lost something on the train that I volunteered to get back for them," Andrew snapped his fingers before exclaiming. "The waitress lost her Shell Earrings, and the lady, Toodles, lost her Gold Ring."
"Yes. That is most certainly concurrent with what I've deduced," Pennington exclaimed. "Mario, if the same person who stole those objects also has the Nitro Honey Syrup... They could make this goo-blast! They could carry out the threat in the note!"
"No kidding," Andrew yelped. "From what we know so far, the person who wrote that sticky yummy threat also stole the Briefcase with the Nitro Honey Syrup in it, the Shell Earrings, and the Gold Ring, and plans on blowing up the train today!"
"So, it is simple, Mario!" Pennington then told him. "You must find that thief! We must apprehend the suspect before this dastardly plan is put into effect!"
"With pleasure," Andrew jumped up. "We gotta find this crook before it's too late!"
"There's one problem with that, Andrew," Goombella had to remind him. "We still don't know who the culprit is!"
Andrew had to admit, she was right. They still didn't know who was the one who wrote it. The Conductor, Pennington, and Ms. Mowz are marked off by default since they wouldn't dare to try something so heinous. So he had to think things over with the others riding on the train.
The Bob-omb Family consisting of Goldbob, Sylvia, and Bub are completely innocent. Andrew, Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, and Yoshiam were familiar with them from when they were in Glitzville, and they were supportive of Andrew's own Prevailing Presto image in the Glitz Pit.
Bobbery and Goldbob go way back as old friends since their days in the service, where they'd hang out at the pub and have several laughs and drinks back in the day. So they couldn't have done something like this, especially after what they had gathered up from them yesterday.
Chef Shimi couldn't have written it. He seems so dedicated as a cook on the Excess Express that he wouldn't have had time to do such a thing. Not to mention that he seems pretty nice and decent overall, even with his main language being Cheep-Cheep, which Andrew was willing to tolerate.
Both the Waitress and Toodles had also lost items on the train just like the Ratooey Businessmen, so that makes them innocent by default. Not to mention Andrew felt this odd strange feeling that Toodles could be trusted, whether it was her beauty or her lifestyle. Regardless, they were also innocent.
Heff T couldn't have done such a thing unless it was something edible for him to eat. His worst crime is being a glutton, based on how he stole the Galley Pot from yesterday. So that marks him off. And Ghost T was a ghost, and as he pointed out last night, he can't even hold a pen or paper correctly. Plus, the worst thing he can do is roam the Excess Express and spook people with the advantage of being a ghost.
That left one person left. Zip Toad. The one person that never crossed his mind during this whole scenario. 'Clearly', Zip Toad might know something about this. Even if he wasn't the crook, it wouldn't hurt to check on Zip Toad and find out what he knows for themselves, would it?
"Guys? I have an idea," Andrew finally said softly. "I might know who the culprit could be."
"Ummm... You do?" Koops wondered curiously. "Who is it?"
"Just follow me, guys," Andrew motioned as he opened the door. "I'll show you."
None of them objected to this as they nodded and left the room while following behind the muscular man. They scurried through a good chunk of the train, passing through the dining car which by that point, was getting packed with people attending breakfast.
They eventually made it to the green-and-brown passenger car, where Andrew stopped right in front of Zip Toad's cabin room #001.
"Dearie me, Andrew," Flurrie caught her breath before asking. "If I may ask, why have we stopped off in front of Zip Toad's cabin? I do believe this would be his room, is it not?"
"That's right," Andrew nodded as he grabbed the doorknob. "And I brought us here because Zip Toad might have some sort of idea as to who the culprit could be."
"Well, if you're serious," Goombella sighed. "Then let's go in and see him for ourselves."
Andrew nodded as he opened the door, and the eight of them went into the cabin room. The only problem that they encountered was that Zip Toad was nowhere to be found in the room. He was gone. The only thing that was present in there was a piece of paper that was on the floor.
"Whoa! He's gone!" Yoshiam yelled in shock. "Presto!? Where do you think he ran off to!?"
"I dunno. But he left this Vital Paper on the floor," Andrew walked over and picked it up. "I think this might be just the clue that we're looking for! I think I know who is behind that threat!"
"Andrew, do you 'really' think it's Zip Toad," Vivian wondered. "I don't doubt you for a second, but I'm just wondering."
"Well Vivian, he's nowhere to be found," Andrew told her. "And he left this damning piece of evidence in his room. So that pretty much says it all."
"By Joe, I believe the old boy has got it yet again," Bobbery exclaimed. "I must say, this is something that isn't short of being treachery on Zip Toad's part, eh?"
"Yeah. It makes sense, Bobbery," Andrew nodded. "So, shall we present this to Pennington so he can look at it?"
"Hmm mmm mmm... I was suggesting the same thing," Ms. Mowz proclaimed in amusement. "Shall we get going?"
"Of course," Andrew opened the door and held the Vital Paper in his hand. "Let's go."
And with that, they did some more walking through the train until they made it back to Pennington's room, where he was waiting with the Businessman for Andrew to return with anything vital to solving this crime.
"Well, Pennington," Andrew got his attention. "We're back once again."
"Ah, so you have," Pennington then had to ask him. "Have you stumbled upon any new clues?"
"'As a matter of fact', I have," Andrew then went and showed him the Vital Paper that he found. "I found this paper lying around. It looked important, so I brought it along with me."
"What is this paper, hmmmm?" Pennington was rather confused by this. "What sort of clue is this supposed to be?"
Andrew had to shrug, as he didn't recognize it at all. His partners didn't either, as they gave similar gestures. The Businessman, by contrast, was horrified by what he was seeing, as he had recognized the Vital Paper right on the spot.
"Ack!" The Businessman then yelped in fright. "Th-That's one of the contracts for my upcoming business deal!"
"What?!" Pennington then backtracked himself before correcting. "I mean... Yes! Just as I suspected!"
"Yeah. I thought it looked complicated when I picked it up," Andrew had to cross his arms. "So that's what it is."
"Mario..." Pennington started to ask him as the Businessman took possession of that paper. "Where did you find this very important clue?"
"Well, Pennington, I found this paper on the floor in cabin #001," Andrew explained to him. "Which also happens to be the room of Zip Toad; the only person we didn't look into at all during this train ride."
"Yes... Zip Toad's room," Pennington rubbed his chin curiously. "A place I have long suspected!"
It was then Pennington realized something that he felt like sharing. "Come to think of it, I do not believe I've seen him today."
"So we're gonna assume that he's hiding somewhere on the train," Andrew guessed.
"Yes! Always one step ahead!" Pennington agreed with him.
"And just so we're clear on this case, it's been officially confirmed that Zip Toad has written that sticky yummy threat to me and my friends," Andrew declared loudly. "And he stole the Excess Express Waitress's Shell Earrings! And he stole Toodle's Gold Ring! And now he stole the Ratooey Businessman's Briefcase which has his Nitro Honey Syrup prototype! And he's planning to blow up the train with a sticky yummy blast as we speak! Now we have to go find him before he kills us all!"
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?" Several loud voices were heard outside the room, which caught their attention.
All of them stepped out and saw that everyone on the train, besides the shop owner and the engineer, was in the hallway of the passenger car. And they couldn't believe what they had just heard.
"Y-You're telling me that Zip Toad is the one who wrote that nasty note that he left in your room?" The Conductor asked in a fearful stutter. "The sticky yummy threat?"
"That's right," Andrew nodded. "And in case you have heard, he has stolen three important belongings to aid him in his delirious scheme!"
"I...I don't believe it," The conductor was shocked to the core upon hearing this. "So... Zip Toad was the one behind all of this?"
"That's not all," Chef Shimi decided to speak up. "Zip Toad says that my food makes people mat!"
"You mean fat?" Andrew raised an eyebrow.
"That's what I meant!" Chef Shimi then corrected himself. "He says that my food makes people FAT!"
"And I take offense to that!" Heff T argued.
"Wah hah hah hah haaaaaaaaaah! I can't believe that Zip Toad; my handsome dreamboat, would like, so 'totally' do something this horrible!" The Waitress sobbed, seeming heartbroken that her idol would do something like this. "He stole my Shell Earrings!"
"That Zip Toad cad happens to have my Gold Ring," Toodles huffed in aggravation. "Which I want back."
"He stole my Briefcase, with my Nitro Honey Syrup!" The Businessman screamed in panic. "Zip Toad could blow this train up with a sticky yummy shellac!"
"That's nothing. You should've heard what he said to me," Goldbob spoke up. "Zip Toad thinks that the Goldbobbingtons should be bankrupted!"
"That Zip Toad has been a horrible influence on my son Bub," Sylvia argued.
"Pffft," Bub huffed at this. "I don't even like Zip Toad."
"Boo hoo hoo hoooooooo..." Ghost T appeared out of nowhere to announce what he had to say to them. "He made me experience the joy of being the only ghost on the Excess Express! Hoo hoo hoo hoo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..."
As he let out that cackle, he then vanished into thin air. It's as if he wasn't even there, as everyone else was more worried about the danger that Zip Toad could unleash on them. It was then Heff T decided to say something as he shook his right fist into the air in a declaration.
"He poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague unto our houses!" Heff T yelled out in fury.
"Wait, he did?!" Andrew had to ask in confusion at that.
"No..." Heff T shook his head. "But are we just gonna wait around until he does?"
Everyone was silent for a moment until Goldbob decided to speak up again.
"I say we should all go pay Zip Toad a visit!" Goldbob announced. "And while we're at it, I have the means to have him blacklisted from every movie corporation company that's out there! Which is what I'm gonna do!"
"Better yet, let's find him and drag him back to Rogueport!" Heff T yelled. "He will get hanged by the gallows in the Rogueport Plaza!"
"I agree. I must say, I could make quite the fortune from his shirts and shades alone," Toodles exclaimed before sneering. "Let's find that scoundrel and bring him to justice!"
"Yeah!" The Businessman declared fearfully. "We have to defend our lives, which are at stake!"
"No kidding," Sylvia nodded. "Anyone who tries to be a bad influence on my son should see the error of their ways!"
"ALL RIGHT!" Bub then bellowed. "LET'S START A RIOT!"
At that moment, everyone in the crowd had formed an angry mob. Complete with torches and pitchforks, and they were making angry chants about Zip Toad. Even the Businessman took part in the angry mob mentality, as the look on his face had fear plastered onto it, and he was fending for his life.
Heff T, Toodles, the Bob-omb family, Chef Shimi, the Ratooey Businessman, and the Waitress were making up the angry mob, with the Waitress having watery eyes from how her dream boy could try to do this to her.
Pennington and the Conductor weren't a part of this riot. Pennington was deep in his thoughts about something important, while the Conductor was too terrified by what he was witnessing right now.
As for Andrew, he had a blank look on his face, along with most of his friends, and Ms. Mowz. 'Clearly', he was the only one on the train who had his head straight and wouldn't resort to forming an angry mob. After being silenced by this, Andrew found his voice.
"OK. I have to ask," Andrew started. "Where did they get the torches and pitchforks from?"
"Beats me," Goombella said. "It's just some angry mob cliche, y'know? And it looks like they're 'totally' being irrational about this issue, don'tcha think?"
"Irrational is the best way to put it," Andrew nodded. "They're gonna scorch the train up in flames if we don't stop them."
"Yeah," Koops nodded. "We don't wanna get fried to death... It's just as bad as that sticky yummy fate..."
"By the stars! I've seen dramatic moments in my day, but this is something else!" Flurrie yelled dramatically. "Shall I blow out the torches with a simple Gale Force, darling?"
"Hey, Andrew? We should probably put a stop to this riot," Vivian had to suggest. "We want to make sure that all of us remain safe."
"I have to concur," Bobbery nodded. "I'll say, they're sorta acting like a couple of senseless ruffians and hooligans with their behavior, eh wot?"
"Yeah," Andrew nodded. "We should put a stop to it..."
"Hmm mmm mmm... They're not being reasonable about this thing," Ms. Mowz had to admit. "Should I swipe the torches and pitchforks from them, sweetie?"
"I have a better idea," Andrew sighed. "Just leave this to me."
It was then Andrew walked over to the angry mob and got their attention right on the spot, which got them to stop.
"People! PEOPLE PLEASE! Can I have your attention!" Andrew then had to tell them in a reasonable tone. "Now there's no need for all of us to go and start a riot right now."
"We're not?" Yoshiam asked while holding a pitchfork in his right hand. It was clear that he was more than eager to pick a fight with Zip Toad for trying to kill them all.
"No. And will you put that pitchfork down, Yoshiam," Andrew requested. "You don't know what that does."
Yoshiam sighed as he dropped the pitchfork and walked back over to Andrew's side.
"Like I was saying, we don't have to do this," Andrew advised them. "We can resolve this without burning the train down to ashes."
"But Presto! That Zip Toad threatened you!" Goldbob had to inform him. "He's planning on pulling forth his scheme with the stuff that he stole, and you'll be the first one to go in the blast!"
"Yes, dear! Not only did he steal my Gold Ring. He's also planning to kill you," Toodles proclaimed. "And that's something that I shall not have happen, my dear."
"That's right," the Businessman panicked. "We're all gonna die! And he's gonna be the one who caused it!"
"Yeah," the Waitress asked sadly. "Don'tcha like, 'totally' care about wanting to stay alive? Sniff... We're trying to help you..."
Andrew couldn't help but sigh at this. They 'clearly' had some good intentions with their actions. Unfortunately, they were acting irrationally while going off the deep end with it. This was something that had to be dealt with rationally. And he was the only one who could do it.
"Look, I appreciate it. Really," Andrew told them. "But why don't you guys leave this to me? Let me and my friends here handle this, by finding Zip Toad and apprehend him ourselves."
"Ah yes! Yes, that was my idea all along, Mario," Pennington proclaimed proudly. "Very well, my dear Mario... Find that Zip Toad!"
"Gladly," Andrew nodded before looking towards his group. "Come on, guys. Let's go find him."
"But Andrew? We still don't know where he is," Goombella had to point out. "Where d'you think he could be, huh?"
"The answer is simple. Zip Toad wants to kill me, right?" Andrew asked, to which they all nodded. "And he wants to engulf me in this sticky yummy blast, right?" His group nodded again. "And he was the one who wrote that note and is wanting to make sure that we don't make it to Poshley Heights, right?"
Once again, they nodded. It was painfully obvious as to where Zip Toad would be hiding. And Andrew knew it too.
"There's only one place that Zip Toad would be hiding right now before he pulls forth this scheme," Andrew said. "My room. Come on. Let's go."
"Ummm... All right," Koops nodded. "If you say so. You're the man after all!"
With that, all eight of them scurried back to their room at cabin #005. The Conductor had to clear his throat to get the attention of everyone else. He demanded that they hand over the torches, which he placed in a water-filled bucket to dose out the flames.
He then went ahead and confiscated the pitchforks so they wouldn't be able to use them irrationally. After that, they all departed and went about with their business like nothing even happened.
By the time Andrew and his group made it back to their room, they had stumbled upon another paper that was on the floor. This caught Andrew's attention as he picked it up.
"Could this be another clue?" Andrew asked himself before showing it to his friends. "Well, guys? You know what this is, right?"
"Yes!" Goombella nodded proudly. "This document is totally like that other one!"
"This is another document just like the last!" Koops yelped.
"This document is just like the last!" Flurrie gasped dramatically.
"This paper's just like that last one!" Yoshiam pounded his fist into his palm.
"Another document from the briefcase!" Vivian gasped in shock.
"I say, another one of those documents!" Bobbery blinked at it.
"This document is just like the other one!" Ms. Mowz declared.
"And we all know what that means," Andrew then declared. "Let's all say it together, shall we?"
"The suspect Zip Toad must be in here somewhere..." All eight of them said simultaneously.
"All right," Andrew nodded at them. "You know what we must do now!"
Then immediately on instinct, everyone but Vivian grabbed hold of Andrew. Vivian then went and dragged Andrew and the others into the shadows to hide, so Zip Toad could reveal himself.
In a matter of seconds, Zip Toad popped his head out from the side of the couch where he was hiding. This was loud enough for Andrew to signal Vivian to get them back up to the surface. As soon as they revealed themselves, Zip Toad jumped and yelped at their sudden appearance.
"Zow! Where'd you come from?" Zip Toad yelled, feeling like they were gonna foil his brilliant scheme. "You won't be catching me that easily, guy!"
"We'll see about that," Andrew sighed as he watched Zip Toad bouncing to all areas in the room as if he was attempting to escape, to no avail.
With that, Andrew jumped up with his fists pointing out. As soon as he jumped up, his right fist ended up plowing into Zip Toad's face instantly, resulting in him being knocked down.
"YOOOOWCH!" Zip Toad howled in pain.
"OK," Andrew blinked at this. "How come that seemed way too easy?"
"Who cares?" Yoshiam hollered. "We got the crook, so let's grab him!"
"Right," Andrew went over and grabbed a hold of Zip Toad. "Let's go give the scoop to Pennington and we can figure out what to do from there."
"All right!" All seven of them chimed in unison as they left the room with Zip Toad in their possession as they had to tell Pennington about this right away...
LATER THAT EVENING...
After a brief lunch break, Pennington inspected Zip Toad and managed to find the belongings that he swiped. Not only that but as it turns out, Zip Toad wasn't the real Zip Toad. He was an imposter. This came as a shocker to Andrew and his group, as this was one plot twist that they weren't expecting.
Currently, Andrew and his group were in their room with the fake Zip Toad, Pennington, and the Ratooey Businessman, who was informed by Pennington to accompany them to Andrew's room. It was already sunset, and the train was going to be making a stop at the Riverside Station at any moment. Until it does, Pennington got down to business with the Zip Toad that was in front of them.
"So this was our man, all along!" Pennington declared while shaking his head. "Pretending to be Zip Toad, I see... All the while pilfering things from others to aid your evil plan..."
Pennington walked back and forth before proclaiming. "Hmm... Yes, this was all just as I had deduced! I knew all along you were a fake. Yes, a discolored nostril hair tipped me off!"
He then pointed his magnifying glass at him. "And not only that, but I knew that you were the one who threatened Mario!"
"Well, Mr. Zip Toad," Andrew asked with a stern look with his hands on his hips. "What do you have to say for yourself now?"
"Curses!" Zip Toad huffed. "I almost got away with it by getting off at Riverside Station, too..."
"Yes, you played a daring and ingenious little game, my false friend..." Pennington shook his head. "But the jig is up now, fiend! And the good people on this train are now safe. That is correct, sir! No one escapes from this improbably large brain!"
"Uh Pennington," Andrew got his attention. "What about the stuff that he stole?"
"...Ahem, well, yes, in any case..." Pennington then glowered at the fake Zip Toad and demanded. "At least return what you have stolen, fink."
"Bleah..." Zip Toad had no choice but to relinquish the goods over to Andrew, who saw the Shell Earrings, the Gold Ring, and the Briefcase in his hands.
"I'll be taking these if you don't mind," Andrew said sharply as he went and grabbed all three of them.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! My precious briefcase!" The Ratooey Businessman had to react as he hoped that it was safe. "Is the Nitro Honey Syrup safe?!"
"I think so," Andrew said sheepishly as he gave the Businessman his Briefcase. "Here's your briefcase, sir."
"Oh, thank you, thank you!" The Businessman was over the moon with excitement at this. "Thank the stars it's safe! Now I won't get the sack!"
"Our rendezvous with disaster was defused by...my most rudimentary of deductions!" Pennington proclaimed proudly.
"Yeah," Andrew smiled. "But more importantly, we just put a stop to a horrifying terrorist attack, averted this horrible disaster, and we're all safe!"
"You betcha!" Goombella beamed. "And it's all thanks to you, Andrew! You 'totally' did it!"
"Yeah," Koops nodded. "Man, this is cool, Andrew... I knew that you were the man, but wow... This was great!"
"My, my! Mercy me! I do believe I am astonished by the outcome!" Flurrie proclaimed. "And it's all thanks to our dear Andrew here. You are the most handsome and bravest hero that we could've asked for, darling. I daresay, I am impressed."
"Yahoo! Rock ON, Presto!" Yoshiam jumped for joy. "This is why you're the coolest! Always thinking about others before you focus on yourself! That is pretty awesome, dude!"
"I knew you could do it, Andrew," Vivian said shyly. "I believed in you the whole time. I knew that we could save these poor people. And it's thanks to you."
"I must say, old boy, it was impressive that we pretty much defused this rather treacherous plan before it was put into effect, Andrew," Bobbery commented. "Why, I should say that we shouldn't have to worry about any more hooligans planning to bomb the train, eh?"
"Hmm mmm mmm... I am also impressed," Ms. Mowz mused. "I knew that we could do it all along. But I'm glad that I could help out too, Andrew. Very well done, sweetie."
"Awww, thanks guys," Andrew rubbed the back of his head in flattery. "It was nothing. Really."
Before anyone else could say anything, the bell on the train went off as the engineer decided to make an announcement for everyone on the train to hear.
"BING! BONG! BING! BONG! Attention, all passengers. This train will soon make a brief scheduled stop at Riverside Station." The engineer had to announce proudly, as it was clear that they were approaching the Riverside Station.
"All right. The Riverside Station," Andrew mused. "I wonder what we'll find next. This might be interesting..."
All seven of them nodded as they waited for the train to come to a complete stop. Things were gonna get rather interesting from here on...
AT THE RIVERSIDE STATION:
The Riverside Station itself was shown to be like an actual train station. There was a billboard on the side of the station building above a bench and barrel, with the door having a padlock that prevented anyone from entering the building.
There was a clock on the roof of the building, placed to the side. And behind the building was a desert of some kind with a pathway leading downstairs that was right in front of the sunset. Lastly, the bridge was up, as the Excess Express couldn't proceed any further for the moment.
Eventually, the train came to an abrupt stop right in front of the gate bar. Once it came to a stop, the train owner was shown standing at the side of the door leading into the Excess Express. He looked exactly like the Toad train owner from the Rogueport Station. He was just standing there until he heard the door open. He turned around to see Pennington step out with the fake Zip Toad right in front of him.
At this moment, the fake Zip Toad realized that since the jig was up, there was no need for his phony disguise anymore.
He had to let Pennington and the Train Owner know who he truly was. Upon seeing how much of a tight grip Pennington had on him, the fake Zip Toad turned around and scowled at him.
"Hey, I think not, Slick!" The fake Zip Toad spat at him. "You think you can hold me? No way! Beldam would flip if I let that happen!"
It was then purple smoke clouded around him, allowing him to get out of Pennington's grip. He then revealed what his true identity was. It was none other, than Doopliss. In the flesh. And he was 'apparently' a member of the Shadow Sirens now. Just the sight of him got Pennington and the Train Owner to yell and flail in panic at this.
"This whole Zip Toad thing was just a means to an end!" Doopliss huffed. "It's me, suckers! Doopliss!"
Neither one of them dared to say anything, as they were still scared to react as a result. Doopliss rolled his red pupils and moaned, feeling like now was the best time to pull forth Plan B to keep Andrew and his crew from making it to Poshley Sanctum and keep him from getting the Crystal Star.
"Beldam's plan to gooify Andrew didn't exactly work, so I'll be cutting and running now!" Doopliss then said in a rather taunting manner. "I'll leave the rest to Beldam! See ya, suckers!"
With that, Doopliss hopped away from the area, apparently planning to regroup with Beldam and Marilyn, and they had to initiate Plan B, which involved going deep into the station. Eventually, Pennington and the Train Owner would stop panicking at this as they remained outside for the moment...
By now, Andrew felt like now was a good time to move around a bit. Since he had the Shell Earrings and Gold Ring back, it looked like now was as great of a time to return them to their respective owners.
"Well guys, you know what we must do," Andrew declared before heading towards the door. "Let's go."
They all nodded as they left their cabin and headed into the dining car. Before Andrew could deliver the Shell Earrings to the Waitress, Andrew decided to pick up a couple of items from the Shop Stall. He settled on getting 3 Super Shrooms, 3 jars of Maple Syrup, 3 Boo's Sheets, 4 Thunder Rages, and a Tasty Tonic. He put all of the belongings into the backpack before he exited the store with his group.
As soon as he was in front of the Waitress, Andrew got her attention just by clearing his throat. She turned around and had a hopeful look on her face.
"Oh, did you find them?" The Waitress queried. "My Shell Earrings?"
"Yes, I did. And here they are," Andrew took out the Shell Earrings and presented them to her. "Would these be the ones that you're looking for?"
"Ooh, there they are! These are my earrings!" The Waitress gushed in a way that any valley girl would. "Thank you so much!"
"Aw, well, it was nothing," Andrew smiled sheepishly.
"Still, I am like, soooooooo grateful that you got them back for me," the Waitress exclaimed. "Hey, and before I forget, take this as my thanks!"
With that, the Waitress presented him with a Star Piece, which he gladly accepted and put in his pocket.
"Thanks for this, ma'am," Andrew thanked her. "I was really happy to help you."
"Oh, wait!" The Waitress then added. "Like, before I forget, there's 'totally' something else that I got to give to a brave strong man such as you!"
"Oh?" Andrew raised an eyebrow. "What would it be?"
The Waitress went ahead, grabbed his face, and planted a nice kiss right on his lips. She got a little ticklish from the mustache he was growing, but she was quite all right with that.
Andrew, for his part, was rather surprised by this. Nonetheless, he accepted it and allowed her to kiss him on the mouth before embracing her. She then stopped kissing him and told him sweetly.
"You are like, the NICEST handsome muscular-looking man I've ever met," she told him in a strong valley girl accent. "Like, EVAH!"
"Awww, I was happy to help you, sweetheart," Andrew said in a rather suave tone.
"So it turns out Zip Toad was a fake, right?!" The Waitress asked sadly.
"I'm afraid to say that he was a fake," Andrew told her softly.
"I 'totally' knew it..." The Waitress exclaimed with a frown. "I knew something was just not right about that guy. And he was my dreamboat."
"I'm sorry, sweetheart," Andrew comforted. "Anything I can do to make you feel better?"
"No. I'm good. Like, seriously. Omigosh, if I have to be honest, Zip Toad is like, soooooooooo last year," the Waitress got over her sadness quickly. "You, on the other hand. You are like, totes the hottest guy I met. I would LOVE to see you in the magazines someday as a 'totally' hot model, you dream boy."
"Whoa. Wow. I uhhhh..." Andrew was blushing as he felt sweaty. "That's pretty sweet. I appreciate that. Really. You're a 'really' adorable-looking girl."
"Dawwwwww... That is like, sooooooo sweet of you, handsome," the waitress gave him another peck on the cheek. "And like, if you need me for anything before dinner, please let me know. I will 'totally' provide you with whatever you want right away. Like, on the double. OK?"
"I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, sweetheart," Andrew said as they got out of the embrace. "Well, we'll see you later."
"Right. See you, Mr. 'Totally' Hot and Cute Muscular Man," the waitress gave him a wink which got him to blush as he walked off with his group.
"Jeepers. She seems to be in the romantic mood," Goombella had to admit. "Didja think maybe that the sunset must've gotten to her, y'know?"
"I dunno for sure," Andrew shrugged. "But she's just really cute, and so adorable. She's also a pretty nice kisser."
"Yeah. I can see that." Goombella rolled her eyes.
"In any case, darling," Flurrie reminded him. "I do believe we have something else to return."
"Of course," Andrew nodded. "Let's go and return the Gold Ring to Toodles."
They all nodded as they headed out of the dining car and headed straight for the passenger car where cabin #002 was located.
It didn't take long for them to make it, as Andrew opened the door and made his way in along with his group. He saw Toodles standing to the side, seemingly glad that Andrew stopped by. With his group standing to the side, Andrew approached Toodles and spoke up.
"Well Toodles, I'm back again," Andrew proclaimed.
"Yes," Toodles then wondered. "Have you found my Gold Ring, you mystery-sniffing master?"
"Yes. Yes, I have," Andrew then went and took out the Gold Ring and showed it to her. "This would happen to be the ring that you're looking for, right?"
"Yes. That is 'definitely' the ring I lost," Toodles exclaimed.
"Great to know," Andrew smiled.
"Thank you, you glorious creature," Toodles told him in a somewhat saucy manner. "I knew you would find it, without fail. And from that fake Zip Toad hethean, no less."
"Well, I do the best that I can," Andrew told her modestly.
"Still, you are 'absolutely' glorious, dear," Toodles told him. "It is merely a trifle, but please take this as my earnest thanks."
With that, Toodles was able to give him 30 coins from her fancy-looking purse. Andrew seemed grateful for the gift.
"Thank you for this," Andrew said. "I appreciate this."
"And there's one more thing that I'd love to give you too," Toodles said slyly. "It is something that no man such as yourself should ever go without from a woman such as myself."
"What would that be?" Andrew was curious.
Toodles said nothing else. Instead, she grabbed Andrew by the face, got him to pucker his lips, and then planted the most fascinating kiss that she could give to him right on the lips. It was rather tender and amazing, and Andrew was loving it. Toodles was fascinated by the fact that he had a growing mustache. Still, she was planning to enjoy this man for what it was worth.
After a few minutes of kissing, their lips parted as Toodles gave him a rather seductive look. As for Andrew, well, let's just say that he's been lovestruck again.
"Wow," Andrew droned in a longing manner. "That was amazing..."
"Wasn't it, dear," Toodles grinned. "A special marvelous man such as yourself deserves the best. Wouldn't you agree, darling?"
"Oh yes. I most certainly do," Andrew then felt like his heart was over the moon as his eyes slowly turned into hearts.
He was charmed and infatuated by this glamorous Toad woman. And Toodles took notice of it too.
"As I've said, dearie, thank you for this service," Toodles then asked him. "Would you like to stay and chat a while?"
"Oh yes," Andrew nodded absentmindedly. "I would love that."
"Well, what sort of business do you have in Poshley Heights, if I may ask?" Toodles asked him curiously.
"If you must know, Toodles," Andrew started. "My friends and I are heading to the Poshley Sanctum because there's a Crystal Star there that we're hunting."
"To Poshley Sanctum, hm? For the Crystal Star?" Toodles asked as Andrew absentmindedly nodded. "Yes, it is a lovely gem, is it not? It is displayed in the Poshley Sanctum, of course, as you well know."
"Yes," Andrew droned, as he felt something bulge in between his legs from the lovestruck that he was feeling. "That's why we're heading there."
"Would you mind if I clue you in on a little secret, dear?" Toodles wondered. "It's about the Poshley Sanctum that you are seeking."
"Yes?" Andrew was curious.
"There is a very large painting there, you know," Toodles decided to share. "It looks big enough to swallow one whole, 'in fact'."
"You don't say," Andrew was amazed by how she told it to him.
"Mhmm," Toodles nodded.
"Well Toodles, now that you know what my business in Poshley Heights is," Andrew decided to ask her. "What are you heading to Poshley Heights for?"
"I am going to my summer home in Poshley Heights," Toodles shared with him. "I must escape the bustle!"
"That sounds nice," Andrew felt Toodles wrap her arms around him.
"You should stop in some time, you courageous, wonderful detective 'you'," Toodle suggested in a rather flirty manner. "Maybe you can tell me all about your adventures."
"Oh. I would love to," Andrew melted in her embrace as he smiled goofily. "That would be wonderful."
"And maybe we could learn a little more about each other," Toodles was growing more seductive by the second. "Wouldn't you agree, darling?"
"Oh, yes," Andrew said with a deep manly tone of voice.
He had felt something poking through the fabric of his boxer shorts and his overalls. But he was too infatuated to have cared about it. Until Toodles decided to point it out to him.
"Hmmm, looks like you might be 'really' excited to see me right now," Toodles told him seductively. "A little too excited, if you ask me."
"Oh? Whoop," Andrew then saw what she was talking about and blushed. "Gee. Sorry that you had to see that. I guess I'm excited and that my perks of being a man are kicking in."
"Oh, they are just fine perks, darling," Toodles whispered into his ear.
Andrew couldn't say anything as he nodded. By this point, he was just too lovestruck to be able to fight against temptation. To add to it, Toodles had a sly grin before she suggested.
"Mind if I take a look, you glorious man, you?" Toodles wondered slyly. "I think I can help you with it. And we can see just how much of a marvelous man you are."
"Oh boy. Would I?" Andrew sounded as excited as a kid who had been given a lollipop. "I would be honored. I just have to undo my overalls first."
Toodles grinned slyly as Andrew worked on undoing his overalls before the fun could begin between them. Goombella, meanwhile, was in shock. Since when did she suddenly step into a romantic movie with a tad of soap operas and love-making scenes sprinkled into it?
Because from what she was seeing, Andrew was about to pull that off with Toodles. And right in front of her no less. In addition to that, Andrew had that same goofy lovestruck grin that he had after he had fun with Flurrie at her house.
On top of that, it was clear that Toodles was trying to get into Andrew's pants. And Andrew was more than willing to let her in. She was not going to let this happen. Not when they had something to do.
Before Andrew could undo and pull down his overalls for Toodles, and before they could even attempt to play hanky panky together, Goombella stood up and ran over.
"OK! We're 'totally' out of here!" Goombella yelled, getting the others to walk out the door as she grabbed Andrew. "C'mon! Let's go, Loverboy!"
"Bye, Toodles!" Andrew waved bye to her in such a lovestruck manner while yelling cheerfully. "I'll be sure to visit you at your summer home so we can have so much fun chatting!"
"Mhmmm," Toodles giggled at this. "DO take care, darling!"
Andrew could only let out a happy sigh as he was dragged out of Toodle's room before he could get things going. By now, Andrew had shaken off the lovestruck trance that he was under, as he had gone outside the train with Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, Yoshiam, Vivian, Bobbery, and Ms. Mowz.
"Jeepers, Andrew! What has gotten into you?!" Goombella yelled. "You were acting like a lovestruck fool back there, with how you were about to play hanky panky with Toodles."
"Yeah. It was pretty embarrassing, wasn't it?" Andrew rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "I'm sorry that you guys had to see that. I couldn't help myself. She is such a beautiful and glamorous woman."
"I daresay, I understand what you are saying, dearie," Flurrie remarked. "Why, I do believe that it reminded me of one of the many romantic movies that I've starred in in my time as a famous actress. My, my! How utterly delightful."
"Yeah," Goombella decided to ask him. "Still Andrew, how have you become so good with the ladies? How d'you do it?"
"I don't know. I guess I didn't think I had it in me," Andrew shrugged. "'Apparently', I am a lady charmer of some kind. Or maybe I 'really' am a chick magnet."
"Man," Koops shook his head. "Ms. Mowz was right. You are a chick magnet."
"Hmm mmm mmm. No doubt about that dearie," Ms. Mowz proclaimed. "Andrew is a real hit with all women such as myself."
"Yeah," Vivian agreed shyly. "He sure is dreamy..."
"Ahem, anyhow, old boy," Bobbery got them back on track. "I take it that this must be the Riverside Station, eh?"
"Yeah," Andrew got a good look at the station. "So this is the Riverside Station, isn't it?"
"That's right," Goombella decided to share something with Andrew. "Y'know something, Andrew? There used to be a river that flowed beneath the bridge here. But unfortunately, it 'totally' dried up over time, and the area has since become a pasture."
"That makes sense," Andrew nodded. "That's why it's called Riverside Station."
"Mhmm," Goombella nodded with a smile. "Goes to show how much one can know a certain thing about a specific location with the right research made and complete. Ah, that's the joy of being an aspiring archaeologist."
"Hmmmm, I see that Goombella is very interested in archaeology, is she not?" Ms. Mowz seemed amused.
"Yeah, so? What's it to ya, Miss Flirts-a-Lot?" Goombella spat.
"Goombella, come on," Andrew got her to stop. "Well, Ms. Mowz? Goombella has been into archaeology ever since she was a little girl."
"Can't argue with that, Andrew," Goombella beamed for a second before scoffing at Ms. Mowz. "Hmph! Not that it's any of your business."
"Hmm, that is rather interesting," Ms. Mowz rubbed her chin. "Perhaps it might be useful to know about the archaeological history of badges everywhere..."
Yeah. That's something else that I'm curious about... Andrew thought to himself as he nodded. Why does Ms. Mowz love badges so much? And why is she destined to collect any badge that she can find?
He was then brought out of his thoughts when Yoshiam was heard yelling and pointing nearby.
"Hey, Presto!? Check that out! Right where Pennington is standing!" Yoshiam pointed towards Pennington. "The Zip Toad imposter that was accompanying him is gone!"
"Huh? That's strange?" Andrew looked curious about this. "Wonder what happened to the imposter..."
"Yeah. Not to be, y'know, 'totally' catty," Goombella felt like asking. "But what kind of detective LOSES a suspect?"
"I guess we better find out for ourselves," Andrew sighed as he stepped down the stairs. "Let's go find out what happened, guys."
All seven of them nodded as they approached the building, jumped up the stairs, and approached Pennington, while Andrew then got his attention.
"Hey, uh, Pennington?" Andrew decided to ask. "What happened? Where did the Zip Toad imposter run off to?"
"Ah, my dear Mario!" Pennington started to declare. "Our suspect was not only a fake Zip Toad..."
"Huh?" Andrew tilted his head in confusion. "What are you saying, Pennington?"
"He was some monstrous being in a white sheet, which was EXACTLY as I suspected!" Pennington revealed.
At that moment, Andrew's pupils shrank as his mouth was gawking open. It couldn't be. It couldn't possibly be him, was it?
Oh no. Please tell me you're joking... Please tell me that the imposter ISN'T who I think it is... Andrew thought in dread as fear started to resurface. I...I don't think I can handle this...
Andrew was completely frozen with distraught as Pennington continued his explanation.
"Too bad he gave us the slip like that, though..." Pennington told him. "He was rather a slippery sort..."
Andrew was finally convinced. It 'really' was him. There was no doubt about it. White bedsheet ghost. Disguising as someone else. He didn't need anymore clues to know who it was that they were dealing with.
At least five of his friends knew who it was too as Andrew couldn't keep it in any longer.
"DOOPLISS!" Andrew, Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, Yoshiam, and Vivian all yelled simultaneously, with Andrew and Vivian screaming the loudest of the six.
"Who?" Bobbery and Ms. Mowz were confused, as they never heard of Doopliss before.
"Yes. That's what he said that his name was," Pennington nodded before finishing. "We could have questioned him about all that Beldam business..."
Andrew had a blank expression on his face. It's as if he was reliving his worst nightmare all over again. Doopliss was back. And apparently, he was now a member of the Shadow Sirens since Vivian left them to join him.
His first five friends were all staring at him in pity for what he was feeling, with Vivian being the most understanding about what he was overcome by since she was there with him right before he regained his name and identity. It showed when the Shadow Siren placed her hand on his shoulder to make sure that he was OK.
By contrast, Bobbery and Ms. Mowz were confused by this, while also perplexed by Andrew's changed expression. They had wanted some answers from the muscular man himself.
"Ahem! A thousand pardons, old boy," Bobbery got his attention. "But I have to ask you something; who in blazes is this Doopliss scoundrel that you know of?"
"I happen to be curious about this as well," Ms. Mowz agreed. "Dear, who is Doopliss? And how do you know him?"
Andrew had to take a deep breath, put on a strong face, as he turned around and let them know the truth.
"Doopliss was this jerk that we dealt with a while back in Twilight Town, when we were going to claim the Ruby Star from him," Andrew explained. "At the time, we didn't know his name, and he was putting the villagers through so much grief and frustration."
"He's right," Goombella sighed before continuing. "Doopliss was turning villagers into pigs with the power of the Ruby Star, just because he was bored and he felt like being a massive scumbag!"
"Ummm... We were able to confront him," Koops continued. "And he was pretty easy to beat. We beat him and took the Crystal Star from him. Or at least, that's what it looked like."
"By the stars, yes! As it turned out, Goombella, Koops, Yoshiam, and myself had been convinced that Doopliss was our darling Andrew," Flurrie added dramatically. "I must say, it was rather unfortunate and terrible that our dearie had his name and body stolen from him!"
"Yeah! That scumbag went and stole Presto's name and body just to mess with him," Yoshiam bellowed. "And he messed up his brain too! Psychologically, at least that's what Goombella says. I can't understand that kind of talk, but whatever."
"Yeah. But Andrew was so kind to me when his name and body were stolen, and I wanted to help him by finding out that ghost's real name. Which happens to be Doopliss," Vivian spoke up. "Even after I found out that he was Andrew, I...I...I decided to leave both of my sisters for good since he's been the only person who's been kind to me. And I remained by his side to comfort him when Doopliss was being a horrible meanie to him!"
"But now he's back. Oh no, I can't believe he's back," Andrew placed his hands on his head as he murmured. "I...I still have nightmares from being left in the body of a lonely friendless shadow..."
It was true. Andrew was uncertain about himself at times. And even though that's all behind him, a part of him has never fully recovered from the ordeal. It was of the mental kind too. It had left him scarred.
"Andrew?" Vivian asked him in concern. "You OK?"
"I... I'm fine," Andrew sighed. "I should be fine."
"Andrew. I want you to know that Doopliss is NEVER gonna steal your life again," Goombella assured him. "I would 'totally' Headbonk that creep if he ever tries to mess you up in such a gnarly and horrible manner! We are never gonna leave you for that scumbag again. I promise."
"Yeah. Goombella's right," Koops agreed. "Man, must've been rough for you when you had your name and identity stolen... Sure glad it's over, but as Goombella said, we're staying with you, no matter what. We're a team. And ummm...we're staying together. Regardless of what may happen."
"Oh Andrew, you poor, poor man," Flurrie cooed sympathetically. "I have already made a vow to you, darling, but I shall gladly say it to you again. I shan't ever leave you to suffer in such an unfortunate and terrible state, and I shall always remain by your side, regardless of what that Doopliss cad could do to you. His horrible trick must've been a massive drain to your head, but I must promise you that I shall always remain by your side, dearie! And if that scoundrel does try it again, he shall have to deal with me! I am a woman of my word when I promise you this, darling."
"Yeah! You're the coolest, Presto!" Yoshiam jumped up and down. "You are always the most awesome person that I've ever known. And no stupid Doopliss scumbag or his dirty low-life crud is ever gonna change that! If I ever see that slimeball again, I'm gonna whoop him big time! I'll make sure of that, Presto!"
"Right," Andrew sighed. "Thanks, guys. That's my worst fear that I'll lose you again. And I thank you for understanding. And thanks for comforting me like this, Vivian."
"Anytime, Andrew," Vivian assured him. "I promised that I'd follow you, and I mean it. I would never allow you to suffer like that again. You will never have to be put through that trauma anymore, Andrew. We're here for you."
"Andrew, old boy? A moment, if you will," Bobbery decided to share his part. "I do not know much about this Doopliss cad that you speak of, but I am certain that he has caused quite a bit of horror and trauma. But ahem, my point standing is that you can also count on my support. I am giving you a sea Bob-omb's honor and pledge that I will declare my loyalty to the likes of you, dear boy. And I shouldn't dare to pull treason on you for any ruffian. Not even for the likes of this Doopliss cad, should he try to swipe your name and identity once more. You have my word, old boy."
"Yes. I think everyone has said what could've been said already. But alas, I shall also promise to remain loyal to you," Ms. Mowz said. "There can only ever be one handsome muscular cheese hunk of a superstar. And that happens to be you. And this Doopliss fiend can't possibly ever change that fact. You mustn't worry, sweetie. You are in good company with your friends. And you have nothing to worry about. You have to believe that, Andrew."
"I do," Andrew nodded. "And I appreciate all of the support that you've given me. Really. I promised that I'd act as a better leader to you all."
"And aren't we glad to have ya," Goombella smirked. "We're the best team out there! And you're the reason for it!"
"I know. I know," Andrew sighed. "Anyway, with that out of the way, how are we gonna get across with the bridge gate up?"
"Beats me," Goombella shrugged. "I could've sworn that the train was, y'know, taking a fuel brake, and whatnot. I dunno how the bridge gate went up."
"Hey ummm... Andrew," Koops then decided to point out to him. "The bridge operator over there looks rather stressed about something!"
Andrew saw the bridge operator, who looked exactly like the train owner. He noticed the distressed look on his face, which meant that the Excess Express must've gotten struck with a massive problem.
"Yeah. Something tells me that it must be serious," Andrew blinked. "Let's go see what is wrong."
At least six of them nodded as Andrew and his six friends went up to the Bridge Operator, while Ms. Mowz remained behind. She was staring at the padlock fixedly as if she was trying to jimmy the lock open to get inside.
As she was contemplating doing that, Andrew approached the Bridge Operator and decided to ask him a question.
"Excuse me, Mr. Bridge Operator," Andrew started. "What's wrong? You seem upset. Is something the matter?"
"Oh, no! What'll we do?" The Bridge Operator yelled. "Someone's lifted the drawbridge! The train can't leave the station like this!"
"Ex-CUSE me?" Goombella was confused. "Didja just say that someone lifted the drawbridge?"
As soon as he nodded, Bobbery decided to ask. "Did you, by any chance, have a description of what this ne'er-do-well might've looked like, old boy?"
"Who was it, exactly?" Andrew raised an eyebrow.
"Listen, I saw a suspicious-looking shadowy person wearing a hat go into the station..." The Bridge Operator described the person, who was most likely Beldam. "He must've gone down to the bridge control room to flip the switch there..."
Andrew couldn't help but let out a dry chuckle at the fact that the bridge operator referred to Beldam as a 'he', especially considering the possibility that Beldam may have intentionally referred to Vivian as a man at some point. Whether Vivian was transgender or not, Andrew had no problem with it. He was all right with having Vivian be the way she wanted to be.
"OK," Andrew nodded. "So why hasn't anyone done something about it?"
"That's the thing!" The Bridge Operator proclaimed. "That switch hasn't been used in so long, I don't know where the control room is..."
"Oh, well that makes sense," Andrew sighed.
"So, um... It's probably against protocol to ask a passenger to do this, but..." The Bridge Operator started speaking as if he was giving a tall order to Andrew. "Since I've heard that you've been keeping the train safe so far, Andrew. And that you prevented a horrible sticky yummy fate from occurring, could you go find and throw that switch? Maybe?"
Andrew didn't need to take long to think about that. They weren't getting anywhere with the drawbridge being up, and someone had to handle it. And since he was a rather big strong man with muscles to boot, Andrew realized that he was the most capable candidate to handle the job, along with his group.
After nodding, Andrew said. "Of course. We'll be glad to help."
"Really?" The Bridge Operator wondered before Andrew nodded, causing him to beam. "That would be super! Well, here's the station key!
"We're glad to help," Andrew stated as the bridge operator dug out the Station Key that had three holes at the top part.
In a matter of seconds, the bridge operator handed the key over to Andrew, who graciously accepted the Station Key with his right hand.
"Oh, thank you so much!" The Bridge Operator thanked him sincerely.
"Yeah. Well, it was our pleasure. Really," Andrew motioned his group to follow. "Come on guys. We got a station to get through, a switch to hit, and a drawbridge to lower back down so we can continue on our way."
"All right! Let's rock, Presto!" Yoshiam jumped up and down. "By the time we're done taking care of business, dinner should be ready. I heard that Chef Shimi is whipping up a special called the Mushroom Full Course!"
"Mushroom Full Course?" Andrew raised an eyebrow at that. "What's that?"
"Beats me. But I heard that it's supposed to be good," Yoshiam then listed out. "From what I've heard, there will be Mushroom bouillon. Mushroom mousse. Some assorted roasted mushrooms. Mushrooms in saffron. There will be a delicate but puzzling mushroom sorbet for dessert. And to top it off, there will be mushroom coffee."
"Wow," Andrew blinked at that. "That's a lot of mushrooms."
"You're telling me," Goombella agreed. "But I guess it must be 'totally' good or something."
"Regardless, it can wait for a bit," Andrew walked up the stairs to the front entrance of the station. "For now, we gotta take care of lowering the drawbridge for the Excess Express to get by here..."
Andrew felt himself trailing off when he saw Ms. Mowz trying to get into the station, to no avail. This caught his attention, along with that of Goombella, who wasted no time in reacting to this.
"Hey! Stop right there, you flirt!" Goombella yelled. "Whatcha think you're doing, trying to break into the Riverside Station?!"
"Well, Ms. Mowz," Andrew had remarked a little more rationally. "Why are you trying to get into the station? Is there something in there that you're looking for?"
"Yes, of course, dearie," Ms. Mowz declared. "I heard that there are some rare and abandoned badges in here, so I'm trying to get my way in. The only problem is that the lock won't budge."
"Hang on. Let me take care of that," Andrew approached the padlock with the key in his hand as he pushed the Station Key into the lock hole.
He then turned it, which caused the lock to fall off and undo itself, where it then disappeared afterwards. The door had been officially unlocked, and now they can enter the station.
"Well, there we go," Andrew proclaimed. "Now we can explore the station and flip the switch to bring back down the drawbridge."
"Hmm mmm mmm mmm... It would appear so," Ms. Mowz smirked slyly. "And now I can find those badges that are rumored to be in there."
Andrew had to tug on his handkerchief. This was the perfect chance for him to let her know about the badges he's been collecting since he started. Truly, a globe-trotting badge thief such as Ms. Mowz would be curious about this, would she?
"Hey, Ms. Mowz?" Andrew got her attention. "If you're rather curious, I've been collecting badges too."
"Oh? Is that so?" Ms. Mowz now looked curious about this. "Do you happen to have them with you?"
"Yes. Give me a moment," Andrew took out the badge kit from his backpack and showed it to her. "This is my badge kit. Goombella gave it to me when we started our adventure with collecting the Crystal Stars."
"Oh, how lovely," Ms. Mowz admitted. "Mind if I take a peek?"
"Go on ahead," Andrew opened the badge kit and he allowed Ms. Mowz to see them for herself.
Needless to say, she was amazed. All this time, this muscular superstar of a hunk had been successful in collecting so many badges since he started his quest to collect the Crystal Stars. Truly he was the kind of person who deserves the utmost respect from the likes of her. And she would let him know about this.
"Wow. I had no idea that you've collected so many," Ms. Mowz remarked.
"Yeah. I guess I have a knack for collecting things, such as badges," Andrew then took out a particular badge that he had in the case and showed it to her. "This badge, in particular, was one that we stumbled upon in the Pirate's Grotto, on Keelhaul Key."
Ms. Mowz felt her eyes widen as she looked at the Attack FX B badge. She was in awe that she couldn't help but say something about it to him.
"I don't believe my eyes. I've been dreaming of finding that badge," Ms. Mowz admitted. "I had no way of reaching Keelhaul Key, so I couldn't have found it."
"Yeah. It does look nice," Andrew smiled at it. "And it makes a mouse squeaking sound whenever I wear it, and use an attack on something."
"Dear, there's a reason for that," Ms. Mowz decided to reveal. "You may have never known about this, but that badge belonged to my ancestors who had traveled to Keelhaul Key eons ago."
"You're serious," now Andrew was curious. "Were they Little Mousers just like you?"
"Yes. Of 'course' they were," Ms. Mowz confirmed. "And they had gotten stranded on Keelhaul Key where they later succumbed to a terrible demise. I've been dreaming of claiming it since. And now you've claimed it."
"Omigosh! Andrew, I can't believe I'm saying this. But I've read up on something about that," Goombella had to confess. "The book I read said something about a band of Little Mouser pirates setting shore onto Keelhaul Key to claim buried treasure and loot that was on the island, which was 'totally' badges. Cortez had them shipwrecked, and they were unable to leave the island. And, y'know, they had passed on, leaving their memory behind."
"OK. So that's neat. I never even knew about that," Andrew nodded.
"Well dearie, I have the utmost respect for your badge-hunting skills, and how much you've collected since you started your quest for the Crystal Stars," Ms. Mowz then had to admit. "You may have even more badge-finding skills than I do."
"Ah, come on," Andrew said modestly. "As I said, I'm just really good at collecting objects is all. Nothing amazing about it."
It was then Ms. Mowz was shown thinking for a second before she came up with an idea. It's as if fate had allowed her and Andrew to meet up in conditions such as this. Truly, the decision had to be obvious to her.
"Hm! I just thought of something," Ms. Mowz then declared to him. "Perhaps I should just travel with you from now on..."
"Wuh?" Andrew had to jump as he heard that.
Did he hear her correctly? Did she just say that she'd like to travel with him and his friends? Surely this seemed like a proposal that he couldn't possibly refuse, right?
"Because, hmm hmm, I'm sure to find lots of badges that way, don't you think." Ms. Mowz couldn't help but giggle at his reaction.
"Wait a minute, you want to travel with me and my friends," Andrew had to ask her. "Would you like to help us with gathering the remaining two Crystal Stars?"
"Why, yes. Of course. Why not," Ms. Mowz nodded. "You've earned the respect of yours truly. So therefore, I think it would be lovely if I travel along with you and your friends."
"Uh, what about this badge," Andrew showed her the Attack FX B badge. "Do you still want it?"
"Keep it, sweetie. You found it fair and square. That's all that matters," Ms. Mowz insisted. "Besides, I think that badge could serve you well someday when the time is right."
"Of course. I'm glad to hear that," Andrew nodded as he put the badge back into his badge kit, and then he put the badge kit back into his backpack. "And I think it would be a great idea to have you join our team."
And to have you as a new friend of mine that's traveling with me. Andrew thought to himself.
Goombella, by contrast, was not on board with any of this. She could never imagine herself becoming close friends with the floozy that they encountered the first couple of times. It just wasn't possible.
"Oh no!" Goombella then started yelling. "No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! 'Absolutely' NOT! There is 'totally' no way that we're letting the floozy travel with us!"
Andrew moaned as he had expected her to react like this. Nonetheless, he was gonna have to set the record straight.
"Goombella?" Andrew pinched the bridge of his nose.
"And y'know what? I'd rather be stuck in a cave with a 'buncha' spiders and ghosts than travel with that no-good flirt!" Goombella continued to rant. "That is soooooooooo not what I wanted!"
"Goombella? Please..." Andrew grumbled.
"And there's no way that we're becoming friends," Goombella protested. "Ain't gonna happen! I won't go along with it!"
"Goombella, listen to me," Andrew started to raise his voice, but she continued to rant.
"Not to mention the way she kissed Andrew was 'totally' sick!" Goombella gagged. "So we're not gonna let her travel with us, and that's THAT!"
"All right! That's enough!" Andrew then had to yell at his Goomba friend. "WILL YOU STOP IT, GOOMBELLA!?"
Goombella had to jump and give Andrew a shocked look at how he snapped at her. More importantly, he showed that he was willing to let Ms. Mowz join. To say that she was hurt by Andrew's tone of voice would've been an understatement.
"Wuh? A-Andrew," Goombella gasped before stuttering. "But...But...But..."
"Goombella? Let me remind you that I was willing to have you travel with me when our adventure started," Andrew told her firmly, placing his hands on his hips. "Granted, I wasn't up for the travel at first, let alone with any companionship. But I was still allowing you to travel with me."
"A-Andrew," Goombella uttered.
"In fact," Andrew looked at his group. "I was more than happy to have ALL OF YOU join me on this quest, and I had no problem with any of you continuing to travel with me when it came to collecting the rest of the Crystal Stars. Now look, don't you guys think that maybe Ms. Mowz deserves to be given the same amount of respect that I've given to the rest of you when you wanted to travel with me on this quest?"
"Oh, but..." Goombella gulped. "But what about the fact that she's a thief? I mean, that should 'totally' give you the heads up as to watch out for her, y'know what I mean?"
"Yes. I know that she's a thief. And you know what?" Andrew explained. "There are ways to put it to good use. A noble person could steal something with good intentions, especially if it's stolen by someone who didn't earn the object that they possessed. Have you ever heard of the story called Mousin Hood?"
"Duuuuuuuh! Of 'course' I do," Goombella rolled her eyes playfully. "It featured a Little Mouser who was a highly skilled archer and swordsman. And he traditionally dresses in Lincoln green while robbing the rich to give to the poor. But what's any of that got to do with Ms. Mowz?"
"Well, if Mousin Hood could steal for a good cause such as helping others, then surely Ms. Mowz could do the same," Andrew told her. "Maybe whatever she steals could be beneficial to us and will aid us in our goals of collecting the last two Crystal Stars before the Shadow Sirens and the X-Nauts get them."
"Oh... I still dunno," Goombella frowned. "I still don't trust her, y'know?"
"I know you don't trust her, but I do," Andrew sighed. "Look? I still see you as my close friend Goombella. But I'd like for Ms. Mowz to be given the same respectful treatment that I gave to the rest of you. So what will it be? Will you allow her to travel with us?"
Goombella had to sigh. Truth be told, she still didn't entirely trust Ms. Mowz, and her lifestyle was enough to make her sick. Sadly, Andrew made a valid point. He was happy to have the rest of them join him on this quest.
If he weren't as understanding and reasonable as he has been, he would've never allowed them to travel with him in the first place. Therefore, Goombella had no choice but to suck it up and accept Ms. Mowz in their group.
After sighing in defeat, Goombella then gave in. "Oh, you're right. You're 'totally' right, Andrew. All right. Ms. Mowz can travel with us."
"Is it 'really' all right with you?" Andrew had to double-check.
"Yeah. Yeah," Goombella then had to add. "But that doesn't make me and Ms. Mowz friends."
"I could've said the same thing between you and Vivian, who was a member of the Shadow Sirens," Andrew pointed out. "And look what I see. You and Vivian are rather close friends in our group."
"OK, Andrew! I 'totally' get it!" Goombella yelled. "Just don't expect it to happen so soon, y'know?"
"All right. Just as long as you're all right with her traveling with us," Andrew then looked at the rest of his friends. "What about you guys? Are you all right with Ms. Mowz traveling with us to get the last two Crystal Stars?"
"Ummm... S-Sure. Of course, Andrew," Koops uttered shyly. "I'd love to have Ms. Mowz travel with us. Uh, she's more than welcome to stick with us..."
"My, my, my! Andrew? I may not be entirely comfortable with having this mysterious brazen accompany us on this quest," Flurrie then sighed and admitted. "But of course, since you've made such an excellent point, I do believe that it may be for the best that we allow this woman to travel with us. If it's quite all right with you, darling, then I shall allow it."
"Yeah, Presto. I'm cool with having her travel with us," Yoshiam gave him a casual thumbs up. "It should be pretty sweet having her travel with us. Besides, as you put it, maybe she might find some items, badges, and other goods that could benefit us when we have to battle some punk next time! So yeah, I dig having her along, dude."
"Oh, uh, sure Andrew," Vivian nodded. "Of 'course' she can join us. It would be nice to have her travel with us. And even if she might have a shady background, you're right when you say that she can be redeemed. So I think it's a great idea to have her along."
"Aye. I believe that it is quite all right with having her within our ranks," Bobbery nodded. "I must say, she might have had a rather rebellious rascallion past. But I am certainly willing to overlook that. Provided that she remains in our better graces if I do say so myself."
"Great. I knew you guys would accept her invite," Andrew then turned around to face Ms. Mowz. "Well, Ms. Mowz? Looks like you're officially in. Welcome to the group."
"Hmm mmm mmm... Yes. It is a great pleasure to join you and your friends to collect some more badges, as well as the last two Crystal Stars," Ms. Mowz then sashayed over to Andrew. "Now, let me formally state...that you will now enjoy the pleasure of my company."
"Hmm?" Andrew was confused by that.
Ms. Mowz quickly answered his question by jumping up, grabbing both of his cheeks and then planting a smooch right on his lips. She got to feel the fuzzy mustache that he was growing, and she felt delighted by it. Andrew was stunned by this until Ms. Mowz separated her lips from his lips, and she jumped back down onto the ground.
Goombella looked like she was about to gag, Flurrie had an appalled look on her face, and the rest of them were shocked by what they had just witnessed. Andrew, for his part, was pretty much used to the kiss by this point.
He 'really' has become a massive chick magnet. From the Waitress to Toodles, and of course, Ms. Mowz. These women among others, such as the others that were traveling with him, were also amazed by his masculinity and his muscles.
As soon as he took in the kiss, Andrew shook his head and smiled.
"Thanks for that, Ms. Mowz. Glad to have you travel with us," Andrew then got them back on track. "Now that we got that squared away, what do you guys say that we enter the Riverside Station and find the switch that'll bring down the drawbridge, so we can continue on our way to Poshley Heights?"
"Totally!" Goombella beamed. "I'm more than psyched to begin searching through the station for the switch to bring down the drawbridge! Let's go find it, Andrew!"
"Ummm... Sure, Andrew," Koops gave him a thumbs up. "Finding the switch that'll lower the drawbridge shouldn't be that hard, can it? Can it?"
"Why, I do believe that we shall explore this station for ourselves," Flurie declared dramatically. "I daresay, we must find that switch if we ever hope on getting to Poshley Heights! WE MUST! Come along now, Andrew!"
"Yahoo! Rock on, Presto," Yoshiam threw the goat with both hands. "Time for some much-needed action after being stuck on the train for a bit! Let's roll, dude!"
"OK, Andrew. I'm ready too," Vivian nodded meekly. "We better find that switch and lower the drawbridge quickly, before my sisters get to Poshley Heights and steal the Crystal Star from the Poshley Sanctum!"
"Capital thinking there, dear boy! I must say, this ought to be a smashing experience for us, Andrew," Bobbery nodded. "I believe that we best find that switch and lower the drawbridge before we can hope on continuing to Poshley Heights, eh?"
"I am certainly ready as well, my sweet," Ms. Mowz did a flip and gave him a wink. "Let's tour the Riverside Station, collect some badges, find the switch, and activate it to lower the drawbridge, Andrew. Then we can continue on our merry way to Poshley Heights."
"That's the ticket, guys," Andrew beamed. "Let's get going!"
All seven of them nodded, as the now eight travelers entered the Riverside Station, intending to find the switch that lowers the drawbridge, so that the Excess Express can continue on its way to Poshley Heights.
They had no idea what was going on below the building where the switch was, as a blobbish creature would be summoned and multiplied to infest the room down below. The eight travelers will have to deal with them soon enough. That was a given...
END OF CHAPTER 59...
Well, that's it for this chapter. Yeah, I know the angry mob didn't happen in the actual game. But hey. I thought it was funny, so I decided to incorporate it into the chapter. Still, I hope it doesn't disrupt the flow of the chapter, and I hope you've all enjoyed it regardless.
Yeah. The scene between Andrew and Toodles was one that I've been wanting to write, especially with how Toodles had turned up the charms and got Andrew into a good mood. Goombella put a stop to it before things got 'really' going on.
Also, Andrew does show here that he's still scarred about the stolen identity crisis that he went through, thanks to Doopliss. It isn't 'really' noticeable, but he does show PTSD signs from recalling that scenario. Despite this, he tries his best to not let it get to him, as he continues to get through the adventure, looking as brave and strong as ever.
As for Ms. Mowz, I like how I had her join the team. She saw all of the badges that Andrew collected, including the Attack FX B badge that her ancestors had possession of when they ended up on Keelhaul Key.
This earned Andrew the respect of Ms. Mowz, as she decided to travel with him to get the last two Crystal Stars. Far better than pulling off a silly fetch quest that can only be accepted by going to the Trouble Center. This flows out well into the story.
Lastly, the name Mousin Hood is a parody of Robin Hood. And yes, Andrew does see potential in Ms. Mowz stealing stuff for a good cause, such as providing items for the group from people who don't deserve it, among other things. I do hope that you like this little feature that I added to it too.
Anyway, the next chapter will showcase the eight travelers trekking through the Riverside Station. In that chapter, they will find some badges, collect two Shine Sprites, defeat enemies, and solve puzzles to get by.
Additionally, Andrew ends up getting a new pair of boots to wear, he'll find the Elevator Key, and he and his seven friends will have to drive off the multiplying black creatures that Beldam explicitly summoned. And a few other things will occur. How will this go for them? Find out next time, readers.
For now, only if you like, you can leave a review and tell me what you thought of this chapter overall.
Otherwise, I have nothing else to say. So until next time, I do hope you all can take care of yourselves. And on that note, thanks again for reading, everyone!
