So recently been reading parts of a Fic called 'The A,B,Cs of Leo' and apparently 'Whump' is the new term for a fic where a character is totured or put otherwise put through physical or mental suffering (Puts on Granny voice 'In my days we would just call that an 'Angst Fic'!) While I didn't read the story that takes up the most chapters 'Control' I did read the first two stories most notably the first one where it simply shows Leo has suffered from a severe nightmare but as the leader feels he can't ask anyone for comfort, so Raph takes it on himself to do it without being asked, anyway that inspired this chapter as a means of Challa returning the favor for Leo comforting her.
Once again on the road, once again the tribe's wagons parked in the grassy field on the side of the road for the night, Challa tossed and turned in her sleep, she saw visions in her head...Scenes from a Young Cobra's life scenes that were familiar to her, although she didn't understand the language she reconized similar scenes from her own life, and she had heard from her Teachers explaining the customs of different countries that in the Sarpah Land of Visedhárah culture is much more strict than it is in her home country of Nilam.
She saw the Young Cobra child get struck to the ground by one of his elders for saying something they didn't like, with a tearful face the Cobra crawled away crying...It was a Known fact that Sarpah faces are not as expressive as Vajrah or Paksin faces due to them just not having the proper face muscles (The Mutant Turtles of Earth were the complete opposite, their faces were so expressive, it is why they seemed to her Vajrah in Sarpah bodies,) But this Young Cobra, possibly by sheer force of will...Seemed to be able to contort his face into more expressions than the rest of his kind, perhaps his elders saw this talent as a deformity, and further reason why they were so harsh to him...
Challa woke up with a start! This Evil Sir'hibasi they had to stop, this Srsasan...She now could see what drove him to be willing to make a deal with the Devourer, without a friend or loved one in the world being constantly punished for things he could not help it was probobly only because he was part of a Royal Family that he was neither killed nor demoted to Outcaste, his family were too proud to admit one of them had turned out like this, so instead they locked him away, burried like a shameful secret! But in his dreams the Devourer whispered sweet and comforting words to him, pledged to serve him because he alone was worthy...
Challa felt too hot to stay in bed, she exited Seven-Scars wagon to feel the cool night air.
Her heart was racing, she felt so sorry for this Janah who had put Dardunah in the ultimate danger! They were so alike...Was it right to kill him?
"Couldn't sleep?" Came an all too familiar voice.
Challa turned and saw Leo, however something was definitely not right, seeing his body posture and the lines of distress on his face.
"I...Had a nightmare..." Challa sighed
"You did?" Leo sounded almost like a child "I..." He then stopped himself "...What was your nightmare about?"
"It was about him..." Challa sighed as she walked toward Leo "The Cobra we have to face...I saw the images of his childhood, he had it worse than me...I was at least beloved by my Father and had the friendship of one of my brothers, and when I got old enough to attend the Academy of Nilam I became a favorite of my teachers, but he had no one..."
The Two of them walked a bit away from the camp so not to disturb anyone.
"Sounds like your dreams are actually important..." Leo said "...You're getting valuable information, unlike..."
"Unlike your dreams?" Challa asked cocking her head
Leo sighed "Don't worry about it..." He said
Challa wasn't so sure it wasn't something to worry about, she remembered the harrowing tale he had told her...Did these memories still haunt his dreams? How many nights had he done this, by himself in the dark because he felt he couldn't ask for comfort...
Challa sat down in the grass, Leo followed suit
"You're so warm..." Leo sighed as he sat down beside her "I...I don't want to crowd you...It's just because your so warm I feel my instincts pushing me to seek the heat..."
Because she had learned that on Earth sheep have their wool sheared to be made into clothing, Challa thought about shaving her wool and have it made into a blanket so Leo could always have a part of her to keep.
"Leo..." Challa began to say but then she noticed that tears were beginning to stream down Leo's face.
"I"m sorry..." He choked out "...I really am! I've had this same dream before, really it should be nothing..."
Without another word, Challa crawled over into Leo's lap she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"It's all right..." She said softly "...You don't have to hide your tears from me, I understand..."
Leo wrapped his arms around Chanchalla and he knew for sure, it was not the fantasy of becoming a Lord he wanted, he wanted Chanchalla, he loved the sweet yet brave soul that she was, it was simply after she confessed her love to him that he realized they would be very happy together.
He burried his face in her wooly neck and let the tears flow, and for a while they just stayed like that, until finally the chill of the night air had calmed their feelings and they were ready to return to bed.
"Thank you." Leo said
"A favor returned." Challa said simply.
The next morning as the Turtles were lining up to get their breakfast with the rest of Taskara, Aneka said the Challa "Once again you've slept though False Dawn...The Devah will not be pleased with this..."
"Hey!" Leo said getting in the Roe Deer's face "In case you forgot, the Devah selected her for a mission to save this entire world, so I think the Devah will cut her some slack!"
They both knew they had no need to speak of what happned the previous night, they would keep that to themselves.
So here Leo and Challa both assume they will have to seperate forever once this mission is completed Challa was simply comforting Leo
