*10 minutes earlier*
Miles Morales was taking a train, generally minding his own business when he noticed the arrival of a boy and a girl walking passed him. He would usually brush it off a siblings walking together, but Miles noticed something off with how the older boy is acting.
The young teen saw how he keeps glancing to the back, and acted more tense than normal. Miles was immediately suspicious at this, at first he gueses the older boy was kidnapping the girl. But after a minute have passed, the teen saw a clearly drunk middle-aged man arrive on the train car. He also noticed how the drunk was looking around for something until his eyes fell on the 2 kids. Then he started his way towards them.
This alarmed the young hero and he turned, walking to block the drunk man and telling him to take a step back.
The drunk man yelled back in response, but Miles didn't back down. This only aggravated the drunk even more that he pulled his hand back to take a swing. Miles quickly ducked, standing his ground and ready to fight if necessary.
Now the fight is attracting the attention of the other passengers. One of them, a built man in a white shirt, stood up to see what is going on. Once he noticed the drunk man trying to punch a teen, he stepped forward. Just as the drunk is about to punch again, the built man grabbed hold of his arm.
"hey, watch where your throwing that." The built man said. The two then wrestled with the drunk man trying to punch the other. The built guy end up wrestling the drunk to try and subdue him, pinning in down on the ground. The surrounding people started to take out their phones to record the scene, a few even cheering on.
Miles just stood where he was, watching the impromptu wrestling match until the drunk guy passed out. The teen then looked around to find the kids he saw earlier. And he spied them on the edge of the crowd.
One of them, the older boy, looked up. As if he sensed Miles was watching. The teen can't help but notice his long and messy bangs.
Can he even with that much hair covering his eyes? Miles wondered, but he have seen weirder hair that defied gravity. Miles is more concerned about the boy, remembering that the drunk was stalking him. So he walked a bit closer and asked, "Hey, you okay?"
The young boy with bangs noticed his approach and nodded.
"We're fine, the man didn't harm us if you are wondering. Thank you for noticing." He said.
Miles can't help but notice about the oddly formal tone of the boy, but he is mostly relieved that the boy isn't harmed. "No problem. It's a good thing you end up here or no one would have seen him." Miles said in satisfaction. He then turned around to walk back to where he was standing.
Things are starting to calm down again, until the train suddenly stopped.
Miles, thanks to his spider abilities, managed to stay in place. But it isn't the same for the rest of the passengers as some fell out of their seats. The teen's first thought was if something crashed on the tracks ahead or disrupted the power. But he have a feeling that it is something else.
He glanced side to side, noticing everyone is too confused and distracted now. So he carefully stalked backwards until he reached the connecting door to the next car. Quietly, he opening it and left,
Once he closed the door, he quickly changed to his suite, forced the train door to open and jumped out the bridge Overpass.
Miles felt nothing but exhilaration and adrenaline as he started swinging across the New York landscape, but he reminded himself that he can't enjoy it for too long. He quickly noticed something red zooming low in the sky and land on the ground. Followed by the sound of blasters.
Immediately, Miles made a turn and followed it. Once he landed on the scene, Iron man have already defeated what looks like humanoid creatures in black armor. He can see what he assumes are their corpses scattered on the streets.
Though Ironman didn't take down all of them, there are a few now charging at Miles. The teen jumped to avoid getting hit and webbed the creatures to the ground, while kicking one that got too close.
"You're a bit late to the party kid." The ironman said. His tone filtered through his helmet, giving it an auto-tune effect but it still conveyed the man's familiar voice.
"Better late than never, Iron man" Miles said back as he gave an alien a particularly hard kick in the head.
In a few minutes, almost all of the aliens are defeated. The two thought it would be the end, until Tony caught something glowing at the edge of his vision. The man flew closer to inspect it, and found what the size of a baseball looks like a small sphere. This little ball also happens to have a glossy finish with black veins. The man is immediately suspicious,
I don't think there are any baseballs like that,
He thought and he is right as the sphere starts to suddenly start to expand. In less than 5 seconds, the sphere rapidly grew to the size of an SUV Van. Iron man lifted his arm to try and blast it. But he only a seconds before the now giant sphere exploded, releasing smoke and dust everywhere. Once the dust finally settled, an even larger predator-like alien stood in its place.
Miles looks in shock at the new, larger and meaner looking beast.
"Please tell me that is not how the aliens are born." He said.
"Unfortunately, that is how it got here. These egg, balls thingy started popping around and these fucker's burst out of it. I'm still investigating how they got here in the first place." The older man said.
The two flinch as the alien beast let out a war-cry. The ear-grating sound is not like anything Miles heard before. At best he would describe it like an amalgamation between an eagle's screech, a goat's belch and the sound of someone scratching nails on a metal surface, but with the bass turned up to eleven.
The teen also noticed that the armor it is wearing is actually part of its skin. He can see how it moves too smoothly to not be an external item.
The two hero took no time to surround the newly hatched alien. And the beast reacted accordingly by trying to tear them to pieces. It chased them with inhuman speed and strength. But it's prey is equally fast to escape.
Miles managed to dodge the beast while Iron man stayed in the air. All of them playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the alien where one would try to lure it and the other will attack its blind spot. If they can find one.
The billionaire kept blasting it, but unlike its humanoid counterpart, the larger predatory alien barely flinched. The attack only made it angrier and more determined to catch the flying genius.
Miles, in his part, tried to web it but he accidentally swung way to close that the alien managed to grab his leg. The teen instinctively let out an electrical shock to shake off the hold. But like Iron man's blasts, it barely did anything. It looks a bit satisfied, even.
Iron man quickly intercepted by blasting the alien's hand repeatedly. This is enough for beast to release its hold and Miles quickly jumped back. "Thanks" he said to Tony. "No problem kid," Tony said loudly and flew higher. The beast immediately went to pounce at Iron man, annoyed and mad at being disturbed. The alien is now grabbing anything he could get and throwing it at Iron man.
"They can feed of electricity, even caused a black-out in the neighborhood. It got worse when for some reason, they managed to tap to the power grid. But they can't handle too much power." Tony said while flying to avoiding the alien chasing him. "A large concentration can kill them"
That could explain the train's sudden stop.
Miles thought.
Then he noticed the alien stopped chasing the flying billionaire. It is just raising his head to the sky, as if it smelling something and turning the other direction.
"Hey ugly," Tony said, "I'm over here, or do you need to get your eye's checked." This did get the alien's attention for a time. But after a 3 second, it would stop and turn his head to the other direction again. This happened again, and again. The other two have no idea what it is doing, but they used this to subdue the beast while it is distracted.
Then the alien did something unexpected, it sprinted to the other direction, leaving the confuse heroes behind. But they quickly shook their initial surprise and went to chase it down the street.
"Make sure he doesn't reach the main highway, there are too many civilians there." Iron man yelled as he flew close to Miles, then he blasted off faster to intercept the runaway alien beast. Said beast quickly made a left turn, then a right, then a left again until it reached a dead end. But it didn't stop, instead it climbed up the wall until it is now jumping from roof to roof now.
As Miles chased it, he finally noticed a familiar structure in the distance. His heart quickly raised as he realized the alien is heading directly to the Overpass Bridge.
Elsewhere
Khonshu opened his eyes and found himself back in the train. Immediately, he yelled, "We need to get out of here. Now!" This quickly shocked the other passengers and they turn to stare at the boy.
Naturally, the boy god's sudden shout confused everyone. The conductor lady was the first to ask, "What do you mean, we need to get out of here."
Khonshu then felt someone holding his hand and remembered that Eva is there.
She can't run fast enough with those shoes.
He thought as he quickly kneeled down in front of her. Eva confused at this, asked "What are you doing?"
"You complained that your legs are tired earlier, so how about you ride on my back for now" He said. Eva is a bit surprised at this but is more than happy to get a free piggy back ride.
Khonshu adjusted his grip a bit, bouncing Eva on his back until he is sure that he have a good hold on her legs. The god then walked towards the center where most of the passengers are congregating.
"Unless you want to die, we need to get as far away from here as possible, or…"
He suddenly went quite. The passengers, he looks like just staring at nothing but Khonshu can now feel the inhumane alien aura coming closer. He quickly ran to the door and used his free hand to open the emergency door latch, "Something big is coming fast and we need to leave" he said but he is stopped by the conductor, who pulled him away.
"Hey, calm down kid. I don't know how you are knowing these things but if there is something coming, I would know." She said. Khonshu end up with heated arguments with the conductor.
In the back, a passenger was scrolling him social media page when he came across another livestream. This one looks like it is taken by a drone in the sky showing the alien running across the street. The passenger guy raised an eye brow since it coincides with what the boy is saying. But this suspicions quickly turns to dread when it became clear on screen that alien is heading directly to where the Overpass Bridge is.
The passenger was skeptical with the boy's claims at first. But it matches way too much to be a coincidence. It finally dawned to him that the boy might be telling the truth.
"Shit," he said as he jumped out of his seat and ran to the door. The conductor lady and the boy are still arguing but the man ignored it and pushed the conductor away. And with a single force, pulled the latch to open the door.
"That kid is right." He said as he faced the now opened door, "There's an alien on the loose and it's coming this way." The man jumped down and ran. But it is in the opposite direction to where the emergency ladder is.
Khonshu saw this and yelled, "The ladder is in the other direction, You're going the wrong way."
The man didn't ran too far so he heard this, and immediately turned around to run in the right direction.
Seeing this, everyone in the train is now very uneasy. And like a domino effect, one passenger ran out to follow the man. And another, and another. Then more followed. Khonshu then remembered there is a drunk man on one of the seats. A pair of passengers also noticed the drunk while they were about to leave. But they stopped themselves, looked at each other and reluctantly went back. They carefully tossing the drunk man's hands over their shoulders and lifted him out. When they passed by Khonshu, one of them said "He was an ass but we can't just leave him here." They then carried him out the door together with the crowd.
Khonshu then looked at the conductor who is just standing by the door, not making an attempt to leave yet. Within minutes, the two are the only ones in the car.
"There are still more passengers on the train, they need to know this. You should go boy." She explained before she turned around to go to the other cars, leaving Khonshu behind in the empty car.
"Hey Stinky, aren't we going to follow them?" Eva asked, still riding behind him.
Khonshu heard it and jumped out. But he didn't run like the others. First he looked at his right, he can see the passengers running towards the emergency ladder a few distance away.
He then glances to his left, knowing that the alien is on it's way. He also very aware that there are more civilians inside who still needs to be escape.
That aliens is incredibly fast, it will arrive before all the passengers can escape down the emergency ladder.
He thought. And at that moment, he can feel a more prominent seismic movement from the ground. Khonshu didn't enhance his senses at that moment but he is far more sensitive than normal now. Sensitive enough to feel the overpass shake as the alien comes closer.
There are dozens of passengers from the other train cars, now rushing out to safety. The conductor lady also ran by and noticed that the boy still didn't leave.
"Boy, we need to get away from here. Don't just stand there, Move." She said when she stopped infront of him. But Khonshu didn't react, instead he is staring really hard at the conductor lady. It actually unnerved her for a while until the boy suddenly asked.
"Can you carry Eva? She needs to get out first and I can't run fast enough with her on my back."
The conductor lady just looked confused but agreed.
"Um. Sure kid, come here Sweetie. Let's get you out first."
But Eva didn't agree with this and is making things difficult. She refused to let go. Khonshu felt her reluctance and had to find a way to get Eva to cooperate. "Eva, it is very important that you go with this woman. She will keep you safe." He said. But Eva only protested harder.
"No. You promised me that you will bring me home." She said, clinging harder at Khonshu's back.
"You will go home and see your Mother Luv. But You're also getting too heavy and I'm stinking your dress. Your mommy is going to get angry if you meet her all stinky." He said, now using Eva's mother as an excuse. This is starting to work as Eva is slowly relaxing but still didn't let go. Khonshu continued, "I promise I'll still bring you home, this woman is just going to carry you down. A monster is coming this way and it will eat us. I'm serious about this" He said.
Even the conductor tried to coax Eva, but maintaining an air of professionalism.
Thank Ra this mortal knows how to keep a calm head.
Khonshu thought as the conductor finally got Eva off his back and put her under her arms.
Eva though looked like she is about to cry again. The red-head trying to keep the tears in when she felt someone lift her chin. She opened her eyes and saw it was her Stinky friend.
"I can't carry you all the time Eva. And You always were a strong-headed girl. Now it's time you showed me that, or do you really like to be called little one forever?" Khonshu said cheekily.
The god is used to loudly demanding his previous Avatars in the past, but they are adults who knows how to take care of themselves. Eva is a little girl and Khonshu is smart enough to know the difference between the two. His demanding tone is not going to fit the situation at hand. If anything, it will do the opposite and he needs Eva to cooperate as fast as possible for her to live.
Eva pouted at Khonshu's words "Stop calling me little. Or I'll call you Stinky forever." She said, trying to maintain a strong face but still sniffing her nose. Khonshu just smirked at this, "And please don't call me Stinky next time. I have a name you know. Now go, the conductor will carry you down. Your mother is waiting for you." He said.
More passengers from the other cars came running passed them. The mood god turned around to face the female conductor and said, "I'll be right behind you, just make sure she isn't harmed on the way down".
Then they felt the bridge slowly shake, then again, and again. And each shake is slowly getting stronger after each one.
The female conductor made one last look at Khonshu and said "You better actually be behind me kid." Before she finally ran to follow the crowd.
Khonshu waited until the conductor is a little farther away, before he turned around and ran back inside the train. He ran through the empty train until he reached the first car where the operator sits. On the front window, he can see the approaching figure of the alien on the tracks as a black blob, but it is also running at such a speed with no intention of stopping. The seismic shocks are getting much stronger and pronounced now that the train car is starting to shake.
Khonshu recalled that he saw the emergency ladder from the sky, but it is only wide enough for 1 person at the time. With how many passengers there are, they can't evacuate fast enough and the alien will arrive before all of them could touch the ground below.
Unless… I buy them time.
He thought. But moon god still didn't remaster the time-related aspect of his godhood, so he will have to resort to something else.
Without a second thought, he slammed his hands on the console in front of him. And with that action, he is also pushing as much of his energy to the structure in front of him. Letting it out like a newly erupted geyser to the train's structure. He can feel it spread naturally to the metal, but it isn't fast enough so he put for effort to force it out faster. Squeezing it like when he squeezed mayonnaise out of a small opening.
Khonshu actually have no idea if this will work at this scale, but his philosophy have always been Act now, Think later…
And just in time, as the alien collided with the train really, really hard.
The sound of the crash along with screeching metal wheels took everyone by surprise. And that impact was so strong, the entire train was pushed backwards a few meters but not a single dent can be seen on the train. Khonshu himself was nearly knocked off his feet, but he quickly maintained his hands on the console.
From his position, Khonshu can now see the alien in its full glory. And he can only describe it's face as a vague mix between a dog and goats head with 4 eyes, and some armor skin that looks like an armadillo from space. Khonshu can feel the obvious extraterrestrial alien more greatly now that it is infront of him. As well as the huge murderous aura of the beast as it starts to slash at the train with its claws.
The moon god can feel the force of each swipe as if he himself is taking the hit. He did expected to feel some feedback as a side-effect, but he didn't think it would be this intense. For the god, it feels like he is being hit by a monster trunk over and over again. The bones in his arms are practically vibrating now together with the train, but he can't afford to stop the flow of his heka now.
If I stop my concentration, this beast will tear through the train and reach the emergency ladder in the back.
He reminded himself and forced more of his energy out to maintain the flow. No matter how painful it is.
Outside, Iron man is witnessing the alien going crazy on the train. Tony saw the beast crash to the train car, and how the force is strong enough to push the whole train backwards. But he didn't expect the vehicle to remain intact. He can't even see a dent on the metal, which only confuses him more.
"What the, is that car secretly made of Vibranium?" Tony said to himself. But he shook it off and went back to try and blast the beast. Miles also saw this but is more concerned about getting the alien to stop, so he tried to web its arms now that the alien is just staying in one place. Though the alien would quickly tear off the webbings before Miles could finish.
In the middle of his efforts, the teen caught a glimpse something from the train window. His eye's widened when it looks like there is still someone inside.
"There's someone still inside!" He yelled.
Tony Stark was still flying but he heard it. "What! Why would anyone still be inside?" He said, confused. Miles then tried to get a closer look, internally hoping that it is just a hallucination.
The beast's large arms keeps getting in the way, but Mile can see the very solid body of someone behind the train console. And he recognized that messy bangs.
Miles is even more alarmed and scared. He waste no time to swing to the back to look for an open train door. There happens to be plenty so he took the closest one he can find and sprinted inside. He ran through the train until he reached the operator's car.
And just as he expected, leaning on the console is the same the same kid he talked to earlier in the train. The young hero immediately went to try and pull him out but the boy instead yelled,
"No!"
This took Miles by surprise the boy didn't let him say anything, instead continued "I know you're here to get me out and I can see the fucking alien right in front of me. But the moment I move, that thing will rip apart this vehicle and shred us before we could turn around."
Miles didn't agree and argued, "Not if I move fast enough" Miles said and walking closer. He can see that the kid is now struggling, as well as a front row look of the Alien's face.
It is even more ugly up close,
Miles thought but he went back to focus on getting the boy out of here.
"Are you sure?" The boy responded as he side-glanced at Miles. "You saw how fast it was, even if you did manage to get me out in seconds, that thing is will start going on a rampage in the city. It will go after them instead, and you saw how ruthless this thing is. This car is also too small to escape fast enough and it might shred both of us if I let go. Are you willing to risk that?"
Miles was about to protest back, but quickly thought of something as he looked at the boy and said "You're responsible for making the train indestructible".
The boy didn't say anything for a second. Miles was worried that something bad have happened before the kid replied.
"...No, it was donated by Wakanda out of good will. OF COURSE, I'm doing this! The city can't afford super trains, Wakanda is protective of their vibranium and the passengers couldn't evacuate fast enough. I had to stall this beast so they can...UGH!"
The boy didn't finish that last part as the alien is now slamming his entire body. The force is so intense that it shook the car momentarily and everyone inside staggered. The enhancement on the train wavered a bit that the glass actually broke and some of the metal dented a bit. But the boy quickly go back to his feet and slammed his hands on the console.
"Just…stop this thing while it is distracted. I don't know how long I can keep this up." The boy said.
Miles is now very conflicted. His internal conscious is telling him to get this kid somewhere safe, but he also knows that the kid is right about the alien's speed and strength. The older teen have seen it tear through cars and concrete like butter. The boy is also reminded Miles that there are passengers still trying to get down, and the civilians surrounding this overpass.
He closed his eyes for a second and said. "Just hang in there." He said.
"No shit…Ugh, Idiot" the kid said but Miles already bolted out the train door, now even more pressured to stop the alien. He quickly went to web the alien's arms as fast as he can. Fast enough that the alien don't have time to tear it out.
Iron man is was still blasting when he flew close and asked about who is inside. When Miles explain about the kid, Iron man just as alarmed as him.
"He is doing this? Is he a mutant sorcerer or something? Never mind that". Tony went silent for a while, contemplating before he said, "I have an idea, but Ugly over here needs to expose his underside. It seems to be the only place that is not armored."
Miles then thought about it and it dawned to him that the underbelly really isn't covered in armor. When he was in the operator's car, he got a good look at the alien but didn't really notice how unprotected its belly is. He was too focused on its creepy 4 eyes.
The young vigilante quickly went to cover the alien's arms with as much webbings as he can. Once the alien tried to rip it with his other hand, Iron man quickly went to blast it before it did anything.
The billionaire then released what looks like miniature drones in the air. Those drones separated themselves from his armor and quickly made a bee-line to the Aliens feet. The alien is now just staying in one place so the drones can fly without getting stomped.
Hopefully that will last.
Tony said to himself as he orders his drones to connect themselves to the feet of the Alien, then to the train tracks. Immobilizing it on the spot.
Soon it looks like the beast is wearing thick boxing gloves and Miles released on last web but didn't disconnect it. Instead, he pulled it back hard.
The alien, as usual, didn't like this and pulled back with even greater force. Miles was immediately dragged like a fish caught in a fishing hook. But Iron man quickly took over and grabbed the web from Miles. The genius pulled the web far back enough and flew underneath the overpass bridge, going around a post multiple times to tie the web there. Miles quickly swung to the other side and proceed to do the same with the other arm. Stringing it, pulling back hard and connecting it to the ground.
Now the beast's limbs are restrained, both it's arms and feet. The position of the web restrains is also forcing it to bend backwards, that its face is up to the sky, and more importantly, his underbelly is exposed.
Back inside the train, Khonshu is now struggling to stay on his feet when the hits suddenly stop. He can still feel the presence of the train but he still braced himself for another blow. Then nothing still happened, he dared himself to look up.
The face and body of the alien is nowhere in his sight, and instead all he sees is an odd mountain-like shape. Khonshu leaned further forward to get a closer look and flinched at his sore arms. His hands are also burning, as if he was holding a piece of burning charcoal for hours. It was so painful that he immediately stopped his heka. Removing his enhancement on the train and nearly collapse on the ground. With how painful and exhausted his body is, he won't be able to summon his heka fast enough to enhance the train again.
Khonshu can feel his body scream to rest.
Not yet, don't fail me now…
He thought as he willed his body to stay awake.
It was a huge struggle just to stay on his feet, even more to lean forward and look outside the broken window. When he did, he realized that the odd mountain-like shape is actually the exposed belly of the alien. He can see the beast's arms are tied up and pulled back, forcing it to look up.
Khonshu does not know if his feet are also bound, but the alien is clearly immobilized now. But even if it is bound, the alien is still alive and clearly struggling to break free.
Then, as if sensing that it is being watched, the beast's eyes moved and made eye contact with Khonshu.
It was only for a split of a second, but it felt like an eternity.
Then something in the beast snapped.
It went berserk again, even more so. It shook left and right with so much force that the restrains are now struggling to hold together. Khonshu have no idea where it got its energy from, but now it's even more angry and looks like it might break free any second.
And it did.
The web restrains snapped, unable to handle the force anymore. And with its now free arms, the alien ripped the drones in it's feet and jumped at the broken window with its claws extended forward.
Up above, Iron man was about to fire one large blast. He had to power it up as he is transferring more than 90% of his suit's energy to one blaster. He made a note to improve the charging speed next time during maintenance, 6 seconds is too long for him.
And just as he is about to fire at the beast's exposed belly, it suddenly decided to have seizure attack.
Iron man tried to focus but he can't get a clear shot anymore, and he can see that the web restrains are now struggling to stay together. In seconds, the alien broke free and jumped at train.
Tony expected the aliens blows to bounce off like before. But to his surprise, the alien actually broke through the front of the train and disappeared inside it.
He can hear stuff being torn and thrown everywhere, then a high-pitched roar.
A second later, the beast ripped through the metal walls of the train until all that is left is the Alien roaring at the sky and the car floor. It then noticed that Iron man is still there and began to throw the ripped parts of the train car at him.
Tony easily dodged them, and fought back. Once again trying to subdue the out-of-control alien. As he blasted it, he noticed that it is missing his left arm, there is a large wound with neon blue fluid leaking out. A string of smoke also appears to be coming out of the wound.
Nearby, Miles heard the Alien break from it's restrains and make a lunge at the train. Like Iron man, he expected that move to just bounce back, but to his horror he broke through the train front and destroyed the car from the inside.
He couldn't breathe for a moment, as he remembered that the boy is supposed to be still inside it.
Maybe he got out when the alien god tied up…
Miles said to himself, then jumped to try and web the alien again. And like Iron man, Miles saw that the alien is missing an arm.
The alien is still tearing through the remaining train car, and threw a torn chair at the young vigilante, but Miles quickly dodge it easily.
Is it me or is it getting slower?
He thought as he dodged another chair being thrown at him. The throws are also getting more random, sometimes even missing its intended target. But the alien is still an uncontrollable force of destruction even when injured.
Iron man managed to hit the wound where the arm used to be and it actually knocked the alien down. But it quickly got up and roared in anger.
"Found a new weak spot. Hey Spidey boy, try to web its legs to keep it from moving. This fucker destroyed my drones earlier." He said. And Miles quickly went to action. He pushed down the painful thought of the boy met earlier. Instead, all that is replaced with the burning desire to see this beast destroyed at all costs.
Epilogue
Pain..
It was the first and only thing Khonshu felt when he finally came into consciousness. His struggled to slowly open his eyes, but his eye lids feel way too heavy, like it is made of steel.
He can feel pain in the back of his head. That pain immediately blossomed more and spread to the entirety of this skull. Now his entire cranium is throbbing, but it is small in comparison to how his body feels. His torso, specifically his arms feels like it is burning. Khonshu end stayed there for a few moments, moaning in pain until he fell into a dreamless sleep.
He does not know how long he was asleep. But when he woke up, his head isn't as bad as it was before.
Khonshu thanked any gods still listening that his headache is slowly receding, and he can open his eyes more without feeling like someone is inserting a drill at the back of his skull.
As he fully opened his eyes, he is greeted with a very high, and very dark ceiling that seems to go on forever. He also heard nothing.
And that is already alarming to the moon god, all he is hearing is silence. Pure, utter silence.
He remembered that he was in a train in New York. It was bright and noisy, but now everything is deathly quiet.
The god quickly sit up and got a headache from the speed. But he forced it down to survey where he is now.
The first thing he saw was a flat and expansive space he is sitting on. And it looks way too clean, almost like a super polished concrete-like floor.
There is also what looks like a disembodied monstrous arm a few feet next to him. He can see some gooey blue fluid coming out of the part that is cut. Khonshu squinted at it, wondering where it came from. Then he have a vague memory of a large beast, black claws and creepy eyes looking at him. Unfortunately, that sudden flashback end up giving him another headache and he quickly grabbed him forehead. He moaned in pain as he tried push it down. But now he remembered that the alien beast wanted to kill him.
Why did it want to kill me... Never mind that, Where am I?
He thought as he looked to his right and left. He sees what looks like smooth stone columns all around him that alternate between a wall and curving forward to form a semi-circle. The entire place is oddly dark, but there is a hint of pale light from above that illuminates the whole expanse. Then he looked up.
His jaw immediately hung when he is faced with his own.
Not his current mortal face, that is but one of many forms he can take. Currently, Khonshu is looking at one of his most recognized forms, and he realized those stone columns are actually simply part of the statue. When he looked up, he can see his own familiar bird-head and staff, along with the ceremonial headdress used by the Kings.
And it is so large, it makes Khonshu feel like an ant. And the god suspects that was the intended effects. Whoever made this place wanted to show the absolute authority of a king and a god. And Khonshu have an idea of who it belongs to.
I hoped to never see the Other Me again. At least, not anytime soon.
He thought as he took in the statues of himself, but not of him.
Khonshu can feel the sacred and intimidating aura of this place. A huge difference to his own temple in his home. The moon god does have his own space in his Overvoid, and it is grander than what is built in Karnak. But it is never at this magnitude or scale.
His personal temple is more like a large castle with ushabti servants ready. There is jewel encrusted furniture, pictures expertly drawn and colored on the walls. Far more vibrant than the vast, almost lifeless space the god is seeing now. Though he is pretty much banned from the Overvoid of his home and can never set foot on his personal temple anymore until his banishment is revoked.
He can also feel the vast emptiness present around him.
No, that's incorrect..
He thought, that emptiness he felt is not empty in a normal sense. He identifies it as empty, but not truly empty. It's complicated to explain how it is empty, but at the same time not.
An odd paradox, he chuckled to himself.
Khonshu forced himself to stand up. And as he did it, he can feel the soreness on his arms and his entire body, but he tried ignored it for now. He have other things to worry about.
Once he is up, he scanned the area once more and turned around. Only to freeze.
….You have got to be kidding me.
That was the only thing in his mind when he saw a whole army of Moon Knights looking at him, with all too familiar and very dead eyes.
