Lugia, the media frenzy was just too much! Everywhere I turned, there were reporters with a gazillion questions about the Hisuian Form Pokémon. Don't get me wrong, I get it—they're a big deal. But seriously, a guy needs a breather!
So, what's a trainer gotta do? Head straight to my chill spot: the Alola Islands. The vibe there is always laid-back, and I figured it'd be the perfect escape. Without missing a beat, I dashed over to Pidgeot. Now, my beautiful girl? She's something else. I mean, I've got some speedy Pokémon, but Pidgeot? She's in a league of her own.
With a quick leap onto her back, I shouted, "To Alola, Pidgeot!"
And bam! We were off. The wind whipping past, the ground below becoming a blur—there's no better feeling than soaring through the sky with the best flyer around. Honestly, between you and me? Pidgeot might just be faster than Pikachu. Yeah, you heard that right! Pikachu's always been my speedster, zipping around like a bolt of lightning. But up against Pidgeot? It's a close call.
As we neared the Alola Islands, I felt the tension ease away. Those sandy beaches, the gentle waves—it's like the islands have this magical way of making all your worries vanish. I gave Pidgeot a good pat, thanking her for the epic ride, and took a moment to soak it all in. I was ready to kick back, those reporters could wait. Right now, I was enjoying Akala Island, until the sun settled, and I went to bed with my Pokémon.
The next morning, I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, trying to shake off that groggy feeling. "Rockruff?" I called out, hoping maybe he was just hiding somewhere or playing a prank. But no answer. My heart sank a bit. Where could he have gone?
Waking up to an empty spot where Rockruff should've been was like a punch to the gut. Ugh, just when I thought I could catch a break in Alola! I mean, sure, Pokémon wander off sometimes, but Rockruff? He's been sticking to me since day one. This was definitely out of character. Then it hit me—Professor Oak's lecture on Rockruff behavior! That little rascal was probably out there howling, thinking he's all grown-up and ready to evolve. Professor Oak did say they get a bit wilder when they're close to evolving, but I never imagined Rockruff would just up and leave like that.
A heavy sigh escaped my lips. I had to find him—and fast. Akala Island's no walk in the park, especially with all its rugged terrain and wild Pokémon roaming about. The last thing I needed was for Rockruff to get into a tussle with some territorial Yungoos or worse, a feisty Salandit. Grabbing my backpack and slinging it over my shoulder, before rushing outside the cabin.
The Alolan breeze tousled my hair as I released my trusty Flying-type squadron into the sky. "Alright, guys, we've got a runaway Rockruff on our hands. Let's spread out and find him!" I called out to my aerial team—Pidgeot, Skarmory, Staraptor, Butterfree, and Pink Butterfree.
They took off in different directions, each with a mission to scan the vast Akala landscape. Pidgeot soared gracefully, her keen eyes scanning the ground below. Skarmory, with his metallic wings, circled above, ready to cover the rugged terrains. Staraptor, the bold one, darted through the air, sharp eyes focused on every nook and cranny. Meanwhile, Butterfree and Pink Butterfree fluttered among the flowers, their compound eyes honing in on any movement.
The sun dipped lower on the horizon as we combed through the island. The anticipation hung in the air, and the gentle rustle of leaves seemed to carry the weight of our collective worry. Rockruff was out there somewhere, and I couldn't shake the nagging concern for his safety. As the minutes turned into hours, my Flying-type companions tirelessly scoured the island. Pidgeot's commanding silhouette traced the skyline, Skarmory's metallic feathers glinting in the fading sunlight. Staraptor's swift dives and ascents painted streaks across the sky. Butterfree and Pink Butterfree gracefully danced through the air, their delicate wings carrying them effortlessly.
My heart thumped with each passing moment, uncertainty creeping in. Where could Rockruff be? I couldn't shake the image of him navigating through dense foliage, unaware of the potential dangers lurking around every corner. Or worse, laying hurt on the ground waiting for me to find him. Just as the weight of worry threatened to settle in, a sudden rustle in the nearby bushes caught everyone's attention. The Alolan breeze carried with it the distinctive sparkle of Tapu Lele, the playful guardian deity of Akala Island. A mischievous Yungoos emerged, bathed in Tapu Lele's shimmering aura, confirming that the guardian was in close proximity.
My heart skipped a beat as I realized Rockruff might have ventured off to seek the company of Tapu Lele. However, I had attended the Alola Island Festival and had learned the stories of their culture and their region's guardians. They had warned us about the playful but potentially dangerous nature of Tapu Lele. It was a powerful deity, and her playful antics, if misunderstood, could lead to unintended injuries in Pokemon battles.
Please, Rockruff, be smart and do not do anything stupid as challenge an Island Guardian, I begged in my head, as we set our course for the Ruins of Life, determined to find Rockruff and ensure his safety. Who am I kidding! He is my Pokémon; he will suicidally challenge a Legendary Pokémon. After all, that is how all of us got this strong. I turned to the sky and prayed to the Legendary I had sworn off. Arceus, please, I have not asked anything from you since Sinnoh, but protect my puppy. I am begging you!
"Rockruff!" I exclaimed when I saw his injured form as two Lycanrocs laid unconscious beside him, a Midday Form and a Midnight Form.
The lush greenery and ancient ruins surrounded us as we approached the sacred site. The air seemed to hum with a mystical energy, and the anticipation of encountering Tapu Lele hung heavy. Suddenly, the guardian deity materialized before us, surrounded by an ethereal glow. Yungoos, still under the enchantment, watched from a distance as Tapu Lele playfully floated around. I could sense the mischievous energy radiating from the guardian, a reminder of her unpredictable nature.
Without thinking about it for a second, I rushed and covered Rockruff with my body. My aerial team honed in and surrounded us protectively. However, none of us could stop her. Tapu Lele's eyes met mine, and with a burst of sparkling energy, she teleported before me and unleashed Draining Kiss. The light pink energy enveloped me. I felt a strange sensation, a combination of exhaustion and rejuvenation, as if Tapu Lele had taken a bit of my vitality and aura. If I had been any less trained by Riley I would have collapsed, but being the Blue Knight I am, I skillfully used my aura to create a burst to push Tapu Lele away.
I groaned and watched impatiently as Tapu Lele simply giggled. "Ash!" Pikachu and my Flying-types shouted worriedly, as I staggered on my knees.
"I am fine!" I assured them. "Delta formation! Do not let her close!"
"On it!" Pidgeot cry of war sent shivers down my spine, as she glared at Tapu Lele, and I felt the Mega Evolution taking place. The rest of my aerial team surrounded her and Pikachu jumped on the ground in front of us, cheeks crackling with electricity.
And then, there he was, my loyal Rockruff, awakening from his slumber with newfound vigor. The worry that had gripped me earlier melted away as I saw Rockruff's tail wagging enthusiastically. The Lycanroc, previously injured in their playful encounter with Tapu Lele, also stirred, their eyes opening to a world healed by the guardian's mystical powers.
"She used our energy to cure him," I murmured stunned, as I felt my aura running through my puppy's body. "I did not know that the energy of Draining Kiss could be transferred like that."
As quickly as Tapu Lele had arrived, she departed, leaving the Ruins of Life in serene silence. My Pokémon slowly relaxed when they realized that the danger was gone, Pidgeot snapping out of her Mega Evolved form. I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude toward the guardian deity for watching Rockruff, though it was mixed with a healthy dose of annoyance. Legendary Pokémon were too mysterious for their own good. Can't they be more direct and ask first? It would lead to less worry.
Relief washed over me as I gathered my Pokémon close. Today was a stark reminder that I could lose my Pokémon at any given moment. With a reassuring smile, I scooped up Rockruff into my arms, with my puppy safe and sound. As the vibrant Alolan sunset bathed us in its warm hues, Rockruff's eyes sparkled with an intensity that mirrored the kaleidoscope of colors above. The air crackled with a special energy, a tangible sense of transformation lingering in every breeze.
Rockruff, always attuned to the mystical forces of Alola, fixated on the horizon as the orange glow began to shift, morphing into a radiant green. It was an awe-inspiring sight, a phenomenon known as the "Green Flash," a rare occurrence seen only during the sun's ascent or descent—a harbinger of good fortune for those lucky enough to witness it.
In the midst of this celestial spectacle, Rockruff underwent a metamorphosis of his own. The evolution unfolded with grace, and the once-energetic puppy emerged as a Lycanroc like no other. It wasn't the familiar Midday or Midnight Form; instead, his form bore a unique blend of elements. The body, reminiscent of Midday Form, boasted a pristine white coat adorned with orange-gold fur. Three brown claws adorned each of his four paws.
A magnificent white mane crowned his head, resembling both the brilliance of the sun and the gentle curve of the crescent moon. Adorning his neck were four rocks, arranged like a radiant sun, with an additional larger stone extending from the mane, resembling a sunlit crown. His face, with bright green eyes, echoed the familiar features of Midday Form, but bathed in a golden-orange hue.
The trio of Lycanroc, caught in the magical aura of the Green Flash, howled in unison, their voices harmonizing with the mystical ambiance. My heart swelled with pride, as Lycanroc's eyes gleamed with the same vivid green as the phenomenon itself, I knew this moment marked something extraordinary. With a sense of reverence, I dubbed the newly evolved Lycanroc as a Dusk Form, an embodiment of the fleeting brilliance that adorned Alola's skies.
