Eragon A New Hope

Disclaimer: Not a good writer as I would hope I could be. Also might notice I will be possibly doing something similar to another series called Bloodkin.

Chapter 3

Jack was stunned as he got up from the shock of being bonded to a dragon. He smiled though as the little one explored his mill. He sighed, he could keep it here. But only for as long as it didn't take up too much space. He thought it since he had not seen its sex. Well he did think to check but decided against it the dragon more than likely to show or say to him that when the time was right.

A tendril of thought like a finger going over his skin was felt, it soon turned into more complex thoughts of growing curriousity. Being a low time mage he was used to the empty feeling around, it was so cold when he felt around, this was a warm feeling. Smiling he allowed it. The Thoughts though turned from curiosity into ravenous hunger. He would grab its egg and offer the creature its head more from the thought of how a lot of creatures ate the egg for the calcium. And while it looked into the egg and ate some of it, He walked to the meat locker and pulled out some meat and brought it back. Not much bigger than his hand he would take the meat and cut it up. Then offered it to the dragonet.

Piece by piece the meat vanished till with a big belly the dragon was full and happy curling up in his lap at the end. He chuckled scratching at it, his hand flexing as if thinking another shock would come. He didn't get it so he continued rubbing till he took the little one to his bed. He got in and just passed out thinking of how to keep the dragon safe and put away during the day.

The brothers would wake up early taking their bows, leathers and some meat out along side the dragons they now had, Walking into the forest, their father none the wiser about what they were doing. And getting on out into the forest forging their way to the best patch of trees they could think of. Eragon would feed the dragons and watch them while Murtagh and Roran worked on the small shelter they would build for the dragons in the tree's branches. Till there was a snap. Looking where it came from they saw Katrina. And she had a basket. "What are you doing here?" She asked them. Murtagh was the first to answer. "We could aske the same" He said.

Roran smiled, "We… are just out for a morning walk." He said, Though at that moment the dragons poked their heads out of the hut and squeaked.

But it wasn't too long before a silver head poked from the basket. "I… it seems we all have a secret reason to be here." She said and the brothers nodded and Roran blushed. "Ah… We have this secret to keep. Same reason we brought them out here. Our parent would have said to kill them. Not sure how Jack will care for his." Roran said,

They were a bit grim on that note, but with that said… They agreed to not reveal this to anyone. And Katrina would try her best to come visit her dragon often. And the boys promised to watch after the dragon in her stead should she not be able to.

The next day the came out Katrina arriving with a great amount of sausages. Murtagh looked into the hut, "Ah, they can hunt." He said seeing bird feathers inside. And same with some tufts of hair inside from the squirrels they were able to catch. Bringing this up with the others, they stayed a while dragons on their rider's respective shoulders listening to their riders. Katrina and Roran holding hands as they walked with their dragons and talked as much to one another as they would their dragons.

Jack was working in the forge as the dragon was squeaking and looking at each thing he did. He was working the metal and had separated the harder metal and the softer metal for now working out how to make two sides to the weapon and it was a slow and multiphased. He folded the metal and worked it lengthened it… till he got the shape he wanted. Though this would take days… He was hammering on the metal at the start of the day and soon heard customers. 'Hide' He thought to his dragon who took his order and hid in the place she found best to do so in. He would talk with his customer and let them use the mill for a price and they used it before leaving. Once alone again he gave the all clear and his dragon came out and watched him continue the forge work.

This exteneded to the week and he often had to handle customers. Wither someone using the mill to make flour, or wanting his skill in making items. He did have weapons on sale but more or less he had to make tools, which he made a few off. His skill though for tool crafting left much to be desired and often horst was better. Weapons however he was the better one to get weapons from. But not many traveled to Carvahall so that was why his weapons often went with the caravans.

He found his dragon growing larger quick. Once he got his weapon half crafted it was already up to his knee and he had to makes sure she was in the bed room when customers came. The next week he had to take the dragon out.. Not having seen the others he had to make his way into the forest and let it lead him… Which they ended up at the hut location where the others were. He was nodding as he saw the others… Blue, Purple, Red, and Silver. And now a grey. "So four others… Eragon, Murtagh, Roran… and who is yours?" He asked the Silver one. Before he got an image in his head. "Katrina?" He asked and the Silver one nodded. "Okay… I will visit you when I can." He said to his dragon though he had a business so he couldn't just shut shop… or could he? That was to be decided by him.

It was a few days later. Of course the brothers and Katrina noticed that the grey dragon was there. It was the third day Jack came and smiled, "Hey.. Ah… hope that my dragon being here isn't an issue."

And really. "We were wondering if you were bringing your dragon." Roran said.

Jack chuckled. "I have a business to run not like I can run out during the day that often." "What is it now?" Murtagh asked and Jack shrugged. "I decided to take a day off." He said as he chuckled.

"So we have five dragons that need to keep hidden. This will be fun." Jack commented, the idea, of 5 lizards that were growing larger by the day, and by the stories that the brothers knew, they were only going to get bigger, how big? It was not clear just yet however the only dragon story teller was their very own Brom in the town. Maybe aware of the dragons or maybe not depending on how active he was..

Jack could only tussle with his dragon a bit before letting the dragon go to play with the others in the air or on the ground as the dragons used their bodies. That was more or less cause Jack kept on feeling there was more to the bond between him and the dragon. The others probably didn't think about it often though… As the 5 were together and tried talking with their minds they ended up learning to talk to one another.

Sure Jack was having to return to his shop and continue working on the different swords and things he was making. Forging swords and using the small amount of magic knowledge he had to imbue the katanas he was making to make a stronger weapon knowing that the coming days… having seen the coming days was going to take a lot more than just them, their dragons, and simple weapons. His dreams seemed to shift around. From structures flying into the sky… Cannons and lightening shots taking down different larger dragons… And seeing armies marching on a city covered by a plateau shelf.

These worries hitting Jack hard and making him focus more and more on the creation of weapons that would at least hopefully start their work on making the grand weapons he saw were in the future. He did have other dreams where it was a harder path. One where only dragons were in the sky and fighting other dragons and some of the smaller dragons falling. Meaning in a way there were two futures he was seeing… But he didn't know what he was seeing only anxiety was building from the dreams.

Jack though couldn't come up with how the tech worked… Only having one idea… Energy that the spells used which was of the body… but if he was right… Living beings would create surplus energy which would just leak out… And one could possible salvage this energy and even from spells one could possible grab the excess energies… The ether was one might say it is…

the odd stone with metal around it was his first attempts at drawing the Ether from the air. With the layers of magic he put into the metals let it start drinking in energy… and to his surprise the energy in the stone was starting to gather, though cause it was a simple stone the stone didn't have a lot of energy.

He had a lot of work in the future. Sadly the events of the world wouldn't let things continue on. On a morning, seemingly normal morning Jack was working the normal sharpening of tools and maybe fixing tools. He would see cloaked figures heading into town making his hackles raise up… This making him be on edge… and he felt the tension in the air as they were noticed. Add onto this that his dragon was sending him the images of new colors… green and gold. He shook his head at this but wondered if those were more dragons meant that they were about to have more dragon.

That thought being odd but he felt that something would change today, He was left to put together things only to feel the sorrow of the others… Why he wasn't there? Well he had the shop to take care of, but it made him press his mind towards Lien

'What happened?' He asked only to be almost slapped.
'Why were you not here? Garrow was taken, your family… we can't find them.' She said almost sounding hurt. Jack shaking his head growling himself. 'I couldn't just leave shop right away.' He said as he blinked at this only sighing. And sort of could guess what was going to happen next, 'Garrow was taken? By whom?' Jack asked he had rising tensions… Di… what happened to his parents?

'Kialandi and the Razac' She answered, and Jack wondering how only to be told that is what Brom called them. 'Wait… Brom is there?!'

_Okay so yes, I rewrote this, since It takes too many things from other stories… Bloodkin, which is the back bone of this, though with the part where there are only Galbatorix and 3 Forsworn. And yes this time the family was remembered in the passing… Of course haven't touched this in months. So what do you know what I had written before was forgotten.

That said going to try and make this a reality for book 1 of the inheritance. And will there be another male dragon in this for Lien? I am not sure, if a view wants to ask for it perhaps it will happen but also this will be a slow burn… also will try and focus the view at least for Book I on Jack and Lien as much as I can since this is stappling Jack and Lien into another story. Meaning I don't have to explain Eragon, Murtagh, Roran, and others… or at least not as much since this will follow Jack for the most part… But figure around book II start is where I will start adding new things.

Namely we are going to sort of lock together dragon and rider pairings a bit… Roran and Katrina being the biggest part… cause in OG book those two would be married if nothing happened after Roran returned to Carvahall. But couldn't cause Roran had nothing till Surda. That said here I see these two being joined in Farthen Dur. So just a bit of a future look, and one that bothered me any time I read the Bloodkin/Bloodline of Chaosshotgun.
