Chapter 22: To The Sky… world
Samus, Falco, Sharla, Zelda, Link, King Dedede, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard ended up on some cliffs. Samus kept a lookout and was accompanied by Falco. "Well, we're here. Looking out. So, how are you?" Falco asked. "Fine," Samus said. "I'm hungry!" King Dedede complained. Sharla went over to Samus and Falco. "Will you please deal with him? He's been complaining the entire time," Sharla said. Samus sighed. "Hey, don't ya bother her," Falco said. "I'll deal with it," Samus said. "Yeah, she'll deal with it," Falco said. "Stop repeating after me," Samus said. "Yeah! I'll stop repeating after… oh," Falco said.
"Why did I have to come?! I am a King! I deserve to be respected!" King Dedede yelled. "Maybe if you didn't yell so much, you would be respected more," Zelda said. Link nodded, agreeing. "Hm! What do you know about royalty?" King Dedede asked. "I am a Princess," Zelda said. "A princess does not compare to a king!" King Dedede yelled. "Shut up," Samus said. "How dare you?! You shall respect me!" King Dedede yelled. Samus punched King Dedede in the face. "Ouch! That's going to hurt," Sharla said. "How dare you?" King Dedede asked. Squirtle and Ivysaur laughed. "What are you laughing at?!" King Dedede yelled—Squirtle shot water at King Dedede's face.
"Let us focus on the matters we have right now," Zelda said. "Right. To find more fighters for our army," Sharla said. "Most of the people I've seen seem to be from an ancient age. I don't even think most of them are fighters," Samus said. "I believe the Convergence Crystals brought us here for a reason, so there must be someone," Zelda said.
A light began to shine on them. "Ugh, turn off the lights! It's too bright!" King Dedede complained. The rest squinted and looked as if someone was approaching them from the skies. It looked like an angel. "An angel?" Samus questioned. "Everyone! I got something to tell - oof!" the angel yelled as he tried to land in front of the group but he landed with his face to the ground. "Hello," Sharla said. The angel got off, wiped off some dust, and stood straight. "I am Pit, servant of the goddess Palutena, and defender of Skyworld!" he introduced himself. "Cool," Falco said. "Aren't you a bit short to be an angel?" Samus asked. Pit laughed, "Oh I'm still an angel in training, and I still can't fly on my own, or read so…" Pit said with a large grin. "Did he say he can't read?" Sharla asked. "So, Pit, what exactly are you doing down here?" Zelda asked. "Oh. Well, you have all been summoned by Lady Palutena herself! So if you can, we'll go up there, and then we can talk," he said. "Wait, is it an order or a request?" Zelda asked. "Well it's an order but she told me to word it like a request," Pit said. "Right," Falco said.
Everyone got inside the gunship and they followed Pit. They followed the large veil of light that went through the sky. Above the clouds, they saw the heavens themselves. Large palaces and temples filled the skies. "What is this?" Zelda asked. "I don't know, but it's beautiful," King Dedede said as he shed some tears. "Don't get my ship wet," Samus said. "Yeah! Don't get her ship wet!" Falco yelled. "What did I say?" Samus asked. "Sorry," Falco said. "Come on! Follow me," Pit said. Samus followed Pit closely behind when they arrived at a giant palace that was higher in the sky than the others.
They landed in a courtyard. The Pokemon played with the clouds. "Man, when I rebuild my castle… well when I order my Waddle-Dees to rebuild my castle, I'm gonna make it look like this," King Dedede said. "Is your castle all that you talk about?" Sharla asked. "Well sometimes I'm hungry," King Dedede said. "Come on. Follow me. Lady Palutena should be just up ahead," Pit said. "So, Pit, right? Who is Palutena?" Zelda asked. "Well she's the Goddess of Light, Ruler of Skyworld, and most importantly my boss," Pit said. "Goddess of Light?" Zelda questioned and then she whispered to herself, "Could she be related to Hylia?"
Giant statues of the Goddess were erected on the staircase. The entire palace was a divine sight, besides the walking carrot monsters who were hiding. "I always hated vegetables," Pit said. "Ivy! Ivysaur!" Ivysaur yelled as Charizard held it back. Pit opened the gates, and after a blinding light had cleared out, from the edge of her throne sat the Goddess of Light, Palutena. Being familiar with a royal presence, Link bowed down, followed by Zelda, who had directed the others to do so. Everyone bowed down, except King Dedede who was still too high of himself.
"Lady Palutena, this is everyone you requested," Pit said. "Thank you, Pit. I'll take it from here," she said. Pit nodded and left the room. "Hey lady, do you got any food? I'm hungry," King Dedede said. "Dedede!" Samus chastised. Palutena laughed. "No need. I know exactly who all of you are. It would be brief to say that your actions haven't gone unnoticed," Palutena said. She stood up, created a path of light, and walked down to the ground. "You all may rise up," she said. "Squirtle. Squirtle," Squirtle mumbled. "Please, let's keep our language clean," Palutena said. "Squirtle?" Squirtle questioned. "Yes, I can understand you perfectly. I am a Goddess," Palutena said. "Let us assume you know why we came," Sharla said. "Yes, and I'd like to find out what this Subspace Army is doing as well," Palutena said.
Pit was checking out Samus' Gunship. "Hm, I wonder if I can ask them for a jetpack," Pit said. Slowly, a shadow was fading into the entirety of Skyworld. Pit looked up. "That can't be good," Pit said. A giant warship appeared above Skyworld. It was easily larger than any planet. Pit grabbed his bow and separated it into two blades.
"Ms. Palutena," Zelda said. "Please, just call me Palutena. The Ms just makes me sound old," Palutena said, "Anyway, I know you are looking for an army to go against the Subspace Army. I wish to find out how they have eluded my view." "So you're saying you don't know what they're doing," Samus said, annoyed. "Oh, a little annoyed, aren't we?" Palutena asked. "This is a waste of time," Samus said as she turned around and was about to walk away. "Let me guess. Is it the desperation for vengeance against Ridley?" Palutena asked. Samus stopped. "Ridley? What does this have to do with him?" Zelda asked. "Oh, it appears she hasn't told you. She knows that dragon, and I've got to say it's quite a personal story," Palutena said. "Shut up," Samus said, quietly. "I'd say, it's gotta do something with her parents," Palutena said. "I said shut up!" Samus yelled as she pointed her cannon at Palutena and shot it.
Palutena just so happened to teleport at the last minute. "Come on, let it all out," Palutena said. "I don't think this is so good," Sharla said. "Please. She needs this," Palutena said. Samus charged towards Palutena. Samus tried to punch her but Palutena flanked her. "Come on. Try harder," Palutena said. Samus shot more plasma shots. Palutena danced around them. "I'm not even trying," Palutena said. Palutena shot orbs of light. Samus shot them all but they still continued their path. Samus ran and allowed the orbs to follow. Samus then redirected the orbs towards Palutena. Palutena dissipated them before they hit her. Using the distraction Samus kicked Palutena in the face. "Wow, now that's better," Palutena said. Palutena then smacked Samus with her staff. "That's enough!" Zelda yelled as she shot a beam of light from her hand. Samus jumped back and Palutena danced away from it.
"What was that?" Sharla asked. The Pokemon all looked shocked. "It's… the power that was locked inside of me," Zelda said. "Ha! I told you! She needed that! I am such a genius," Palutena said. A shadow covered the entire palace. "That's not good," Palutena said. Pit burst through the gates. "Lady Palutena! We got a situation!" Pit yelled, "Whoa, what is going on here? And why is there a hole through the wall?" They all looked at the hole burnt through the wall. "Long story. Now what is going on Pit?" Palutena asked. From the ceiling, a dark angel fell. "Pitto!" Pit yelled. "I told you to stop calling me that!" he yelled. "Dark Pit. What is going on?" Palutena asked. "You haven't told her yet! I feel like it should be obvious!" Dark Pit yelled. "Is he like your angsty twin?" Falco asked. "Don't even give him that idea! He'll be obnoxious!" Dark Pit yelled.
They all ran outdoors to see a full on invasion happening. Shadow bugs were dropped everywhere as giant Primids attacked the palaces in the distance. Palutena's staff lit up and shot a beam at some of the Primids. Shadow bugs were dropped before them and Primids began to form and charge at them. "Pit, Dark Pit, handle these. I'll take care of the rest," Palutena said. Palutena summoned angel wings and flew. "Great, she left me with you," Dark Pit said, sarcastically. "I know! Isn't that great!" Pit said, enthusiastically. "Let's just get this over with," Dark Pit said.
Pit and Dark Pit had bows and shot arrows of light at the Primids. Samus charged up her arm cannon and shot a beam at the Primids. She then grabbed a Primid and pummeled it to the ground. "That seemed a little extreme," Sharla said. Samus said nothing. Suddenly something had tackled Samus and they fell to a cloud beneath. "Samus!" Zelda yelled. Charizard roared. "I suppose so," Sharla said, understanding what Charizard was implying. Sharla hopped on Charizard's back and Charizard flew down.
Samus landed on the cloud. "Didn't think you'd be one for cooperation," Samus said as she stood up. In front of her was someone with a familiar look to Samus, only darker and glowing blue. Their armor had veins that had a blue light emanating from it. "Dark Samus," Samus said. Dark Samus yelled out with a screeching sci-fi scream. Samus shot out plasma from her cannon. Dark Samus flanked and dodged all of them and charged ahead and did the same. Samus rolled and avoided Dark Samus' attacks. She then jumped up and dived for a punch.
"Ivysaur!" Ivysaur yelled as he shot a solar beam at the Primids. "Squir!" Squirtle yelled as he shot water. King Dedede smashed some Primids while Link sliced some of the Primids as he protected Zelda while Falco shot and kicked the Primids. "We're sitting ducks here!" Falco yelled. Link sliced some more Primids. All of sudden, the Master Sword began to glow. Link was surprised. "What? Why is the Master Sword doing that?" Zelda asked. Out of nowhere the Primids all dissipated into shadow bugs. "Wow, was it really that easy?" Pit asked. "Nothing is that easy," Dark Pit said.
A tractor beam fell from the warship above, landing inside Palutena's Temple. "Oh no they don't!" Pit yelled as he ran up the stairs. The Master Sword was directing Link to go up. "Let's go," Zelda said. Link nodded. They ran up the stairs. On Palutena's throne was the leader of the Subspace Army, Ganondorf. He had a serious expression on his face, and he mostly focused on Link and Zelda.
"I suspected there would be another, yet it will be satisfying to defeat you again," Ganondorf said. "Who are you?" Zelda asked. "Princess Zelda, I am aware you know not of my presence in your world, but I already know who you are for I brought what you would call a calamity in mine," Ganondorf said. Zelda's expression widened, "Ganondorf." Link tightly held the Master Sword in his hand. "And you. The knight with the sword that will seal the darkness. Link," Ganondorf said. "I don't know who you are, but this is Lady Palutena's palace so I'm not going to let you destroy it!" Pit yelled as he charged ahead. "Don't you idiot!" Dark PIt yelled as he chased after him. Pit launched himself at Ganondorf. Dark Pit tried to grab him but using a mere glimpse of his power, Ganondorf without even touching the Pits launched them both back. "No!" Zelda yelled. "I will exact my revenge, here and now!" Ganondorf yelled as he launched himself from the throne.
Samus and Dark Samus were equals. They caught each other's attacks. Charizard flew above them. "Who is that?" Sharla asked. Charizard roared as he breathed fire and directed towards Dark Samus. Sharla on top of Charizard shot at Dark Samus. Dark Samus noticed them, charged her arm cannon and shot a plasma beam. Charizard did a barrel roll and dodged it. "Whoa! Careful there!" Sharla yelled as she was hanging on Charizard. Samus used this distraction to tackle Dark Samus. Samus punched Dark Samus multiple times. "Hang on!" Sharla yelled. Sharla kept scoping and once she found a vulnerable spot she shot Dark Samus and launched her away. "Thanks," Samus said. "Come on, they'll need our help," Sharla said.
"Squirtle!" Squirtle yelled as he spun inside his shell and charged at Ganondorf. Ganondorf punched the ground with dark energy, launched Squirtle, grabbed him and threw him at a wall. "Ivysaur!" Ivysaur yelled as he launched a barrage of seeds. It only annoyed Ganondorf as he shot a beam of darkness at Ivysaur. "Ivy!" Ivysaur yelped. "Take this!" King Dedede yelled as he attempted to smack Ganondorf but Ganondorf caught his mallet, charged his fist with energy and punched King Dedede in the stomach and launched him. Falco kept his distance and shot at Ganondorf. "Pathetic!" Ganondorf yelled as he charged a beam. Falco ran and dodged the beam.
Link ran and tried to flank Ganondorf and Link tried to slice Ganondorf but Ganondorf summoned a sword that clashed with Link's. "I've already defeated you once before! I will not be defeated by you!" Ganondorf yelled as he launched Link back. Ganondorf then turned his gaze towards Zelda. Zelda backed away. "You will not get away from me!" Ganondorf yelled. Ganondorf charged at Zelda and at the last second, Link blocked Ganondorf's attack and held him back, grunting. "Link," Zelda said. "I said begone!" Ganondorf yelled as he powerfully smacked Link's sword. Link still kept his stance and position, but he was struggling. "You're no match for me boy!" Ganondorf yelled. Link's strength was starting to fade, but he still endured Ganondorf's. Zelda grabbed Link's shoulder. "Link, you can do this. We can do this," Zelda said. Light emanates from her palms, giving Link an extra boost. Link managed to push Ganondorf back.
"So, you discovered your power, but still," Ganondorf said. He was looking at Zelda who was beginning to look tired. "You are untrained," Ganondorf said. "I have been training for my entire life. No matter who you are, my power is sworn to defeat the darkness," Zelda said. Then a light arrow hit Ganondorf. "Bullseye," Pit said. Using the distraction, King Dedede ran in and smacked Ganondorf to the wall. "Everyone! Now!" Zelda ordered with confidence. Pit and Dark Pit turned their bows into blades and charged straight in. Falco spun in the air and kicked Ganondorf. Pit and Dark Pit caught Ganondorf's strike as King Dedede smacked Ganondorf moments after. Squirtle and Ivysaur used their powers to distract Ganondorf as Link, being rejuvenated by Zelda's power, summoned a sword strike and pushed Ganondorf to the court of the temple.
Charizard had returned, carrying Sharla and Samus on his back. "Well, looks like we missed all the action," Sharla said. Samus pointed her cannon at Ganondorf. "ENOUGH!" Ganondorf screamed as he built up energy. "AH!" he yelled as he sent a burst of energy, pushing everyone back. He then went ahead to send a beam of energy at everyone. Zelda stood at the front and used her power to shield everyone. "Ugh, no, I cannot give up!" Zelda said, struggling. Zelda began to wear out as her power took a toll on her. "No," Zelda said.
Out of nowhere a shield of light appeared to confront Ganondorf's beam. Zelda fell unconscious. Link caught her before she fell to the ground. "I suspected she had a lot of power, but power untrained won't be enough," Palutena said as she was the one who shielded everyone. Palutena extended her staff, releasing a beam of light that collided with Ganondorf's. "So, the goddess finally shows herself," Ganondorf said as he stopped his beam attack. "Tell me, how exactly is it that you've obscured my vision," Palutena said. "Wouldn't you like to know," Ganondorf said. Palutena turned towards everyone. "Get out of here, now. I'll deal with him," Palutena said. "But, Lady Palutena! We can't leave you here," Pit said. "I'll be fine. I'm entrusting you to look after them. To fight with them. Don't let me down, Pit," Palutena said. Pit stared at Palutena as he nodded. Link carried Zelda. "Come on. Let's go," Samus said. Link nodded. They started to run back to the gunship.
Light emanated from Palutena and summoned orbs around her. The orbs shot light like bullets. Ganondorf punched the ground beneath him and ripped off a large chunk to use as a shield. He then charged a beam and threw one at Palutena. Palutena created a barrier in front of her to shield herself from the attack. She followed with a charge to her staff and shooting out a beam. Ganondorf crossed his arms and blocked the shot. He then charged a burst of energy that managed to overcome Palutena's beam. Palutena used her staff to block the burst. "Ah, the legends are true about the Goddess of Light," Ganondorf said. "Don't say that. You're making me sound old," Palutena said.
Everyone was getting closer to Samus' ship until Link jumped back to dodge a sudden bolt of lightning. "What was that?" Sharla asked. Below the clouds, Master Kohga popped out. "Ah ha! You thought you could get away from me!" he yelled. His back was facing the group. Link rolled his eyes. "Hey, uh over here," Pit said. "Huh? Oh," Master Kohga said as he turned around, "Ah ha! You thought you could get away from me!" he yelled. "Who's this guy?" Falco said. "I am Master Kohga! Leader of the Yiga Clan! Sworn servant to Ganondorf!" he yelled. "Alright, just stand there," Sharla said as she pointed her gun at him. "AH! Get them!" Master Kohga yelled.
Sharla shot but someone popped out of the clouds and appeared in front of Master Kohga. Link gasped. The figure was revealed to be Daruk, but his eyes were yellow and there was a dark smoke surrounding him. Two more figures popped out of the clouds, revealing themselves to be Mipha and Urbosa, also having yellow eyes and a dark smoke that surrounded them. "Attack!" Master Kohga ordered. The Champions charged ahead. Charizard roared as he charged ahead and pushed Daruk back. Daruk took out his club and launched Charizard back. "Squirtle!" Squirtle yelled. "Ivy!" Ivysaur yelled.
Mipha and Urbosa charged ahead. Pit and Dark Pit nodded to each other as they clashed their weapons with theirs'. "I thought these guys were our friends!" King Dedede yelled. Master Kohga laughed, "They're our minions now!" Falco charged towards Master Kohga and kicked him in the face. "Ouch! That hurts!" Master Kohga yelled as smoke came out of his ears. He took out his blade and charged in. Behind him Primids popped out and charged alongside him. Charizard shook his head off and rolled to avoid Daruk's attack. "Ivy!" Ivysaur yelled as he used a vine whip to grab Daruk. "Squirtle!" Squirtle yelled as he spun in his shell. Daruk used his barrier to break out of the vine whip and used his weapon to smack Squirtle towards Ivysaur. Charizard roared as he roared fire at Daruk. It did not affect Daruk.
Palutena's staff collided with Ganondorf's sword. "Uniting the Convergence Crystals, making an alliance with these villains. Do you really think it's going to work out for you?" Palutena asked. "It is a promise I intend to keep!" Ganondorf yelled as he pushed Palutena back. "Then what's in it for you?" Palutena asked. "A new universe. One that can prosper, and only they will have the power to do so!" Ganondorf yelled as he infused his sword with energy. Ganondorf charged, clashed with Palutena's staff and knocked her back. Using this opportunity, Ganondorf shot a beam and hit Palutena straight through the staircase. Palutena struggled to get up as Ganondorf walked towards her. "You should've known you wouldn't be able to defeat me," Ganondorf said. Palutena chuckled, "I know, but it wasn't my duty to end you." Ganondorf stared at her seriously. Ganondorf went ahead and plunged his sword straight through Palutena, turning her into a trophy. Dark Samus then appeared behind Ganondorf. "Dark Samus, deal with the rest. I'll take her back to base," he said. Dark Samus nodded as she summoned a cannon and walked off.
Link kept the unconscious Zelda behind him while he dealt with the Primids. Samus shot a beam and decimated many of them. "We have to leave, now," Samus said. Link nodded. "Not sure about you but we seem pretty outnumbered," Sharla said. "Nothing we can't handle," Pit said as he sliced some Primids. Charizard roared as he flew Daruk up and tossed him into the ground. Dark Pit dealt with Mipha and Urbosa. Squirtle spun around, smacking Primids while Ivysaur threw Primids like a wrestler. King Dedede smashed up some Primids while Falco shot them in the chest. "He he he! I haven't had this much fun!" King Dedede yelled. "Now you're talking in some sense," Falco said. "I wouldn't exactly call this fun," Sharla said.
An arrow made of energy flew through the battlefield and went straight through Sharla. Everyone watched as she glowed and turned into a trophy. Dark Samus screeched and charged up her cannon again. She shot another arrow and it went straight through Ivysaur and turned him into a trophy. "No!" Pit yelled. Pit shot an arrow from his bow but Dark Samus dodged. She charged her cannon again. Dark Pit noticed this, pushed Mipha and Urbosa back, ran and pushed Pit to the side. "Pittoo!" Pit yelled. Dark Pit was hit with the dark arrow and turned into a trophy. Dark Samus shot the cannon again and hit Squirtle. Charizard roared and charged at Dark Samus. Dark Samus shot the cannon with Charizard mere inches from her and turned Charizard into a trophy.
Samus shot at Dark Samus but Dark Samus dodged them all as she charged the cannon. Falco ran and pushed Samus away as Dark Samus shot the cannon and turned Falco into a trophy. "No," Samus said. King Dedede sucked up some of the Primids and threw them at Dark Samus. "Come on! We gotta leave!" King Dedede yelled. Link picked up Zelda. Samus looked at Falco, and then looked at Pit who was injured and barely could stand. Samus made a choice to save Pit. "We'll be back for you," Samus said. King Dedede spun, knocked the Primids away and made a trail to the ship. Samus immediately ignited her ship and took off. Dark Samus blasted the Primids off her. She and the corrupted Champions immediately went to pick up their price.
[Unknown Location]
Ganondorf watched the attack through a screen. A red light flashed beneath. Ganondorf sighed and turned off the screen. A door opened behind him and he stepped out into a pure dark environment. He arrived at an edge of a cliff that seemingly looked down to a pure dark void. He bowed down. Two flew out from the eternal darkness. A pair of hands. The right hand entity had a more sophisticated and sinister laugh and moved smoothly. The left hand entity moved more frantically and laughed crazily. They were the Master and Crazy Hands.
"My masters. The takeover is going underway," Ganondorf said. "Good," said the Master Hand. "We've captured many fighters, yet the heroes are building an army," Ganondorf said. "Do not mind them. Their fate, as well as yours, and the Subspace Army's, is inevitable," the Master Hand said. "Inevitable it is!" the Crazy Hand exclaimed, "Complete your mission! Take as many fighters and turn them!" "It will be done," Ganondorf said.
The Master and Crazy Hands faded back to darkness as Ganondorf returned to his base of operations.
