Chapter 37: The Singles Rounds Part 2

The next day comes for the second bouts of the Singles rounds. Spirits are high for the upcoming matches, both for the spectators and the participating teams anxious to make their academy proud.

Team RXDY are currently talking with Team TEAL. Well, most of them as Rena is absent, something about Ashton wishing to speak with her.

Of course, the moment Tira saw Yumi the fiery redhead hugged the wolf faunus, throwing some flirty comments until she pulls back.

She look around, "Hey, where's your team leader? I miss seeing the armored beauty."

Xavier answered, "She had to speak with someone about something." He next said to Alexia, "Emmara told me you're representing your team in the Singles Rounds."

The half-dog faunus nodded, "You are correct. I am confident in my ability to emerge victorious."

Tira playfully pouted, "I wish Rena was here. I could've asked her on a date."

Soon, they heard Professor Port announce, "Will the remaining contestants please head to Amity Arena."

Alexia said, "That's my que to head over."

Emmara said timidly, "G-Good luck, Alexia."

Tira grinned, "Kick ass, my sexy ninja."

Her adopted sister looked at the fiery redhead, "Tira!"

Tira stared at Emmara, "What? There's no denying Triple A is sexy. Of course, I got my adorable little sister." In response, Emmara pulls her hood over her red face.

Yumi giggled, "You really care about Emmara, don't you Tira?"

Tira smiled at the wolf faunus, "Of course I do. I always wanted a sibling." They head for the Amity Arena.

The remaining contestants stand in the ring while the machine begins to randomly shuffle until it settles on the next combatants.

Professor Port declared, "Sin Saber from Team RUST vs. Alexia Ava Adel from Team TEAL. Will the others please leave the combat area." Sin cracks his knuckles and hops in place while Alexia puts her demon mouthpiece on.

Sin said, "It seems Lady Luck is being generous to me today. I get to face a sexy ninja. Wanna go out after this fight?"

Alexia replied, "Perhaps after we get to know each other better. May the best fighter win."

Professor Port counted down, "3,2,1... begin!" Alexia throws smoke to obstruct Sin's view, he looks around on alert.

A swarm of kunai emerge from the smoke cloud screaming towards Sin who uses his semblance slowing the perception of time and sidesteps the swarm of metal. Alexia's spear-tipped chain wraps around his ankle behind Sin's back and pulls to trip the black-haired Shade Academy student. Alexia emerges from the smoke with her sword ready to strike but Sin quickly rolls onto his back and plants his foot on Alexia's chest, using her momentum to throw the half-dog faunus over him. Quickly getting to his feet Sin puts the non-lethal pair of his gloves, The Twins on. Alexia gets back to her feet, too and whips around to charge seeing Sin giving the "come here" gesture with his index finger. Alexia runs toward Sin but it's a feign attack because the moment she sees him cock his arm back she quickly spins around to get behind him for a swift strike that takes out a bit of his aura. If she can prevent him from landing a strike on him with those aura enhanced strikes, Alexia has a high probability of winning. Sin halts his forward stumbling and whips around to score a hit on Alexia but the half-dog faunus fazes out of view, once again hidden by the smoke. Sin waits for the next attack, looking around to determine where it'll come from. A pair of kunai approach from his 4 o'clock, he back-peddles from the swarm and sees her spear-tipped chain coming at him. This time around, Sin grips it and pulls Alexia to him, cocking his dominant arm back then thrusts it forward, Alexia brings her arms together to block the attack but the flash and loud bang disorientates the ninja faunus. Sin unleashes a barrage of aura enhanced physical strikes on his opponent, keeping Alexia from retaliating. Her ears ringing, she spots Sin out of the corner of her eye about to land a strike to her face when she drops to the ground kicking Sin in the stomach and chains it with a knee to the sternum. She uses her semblance to teleport out of sight while Sin recovers from the attack. Alexia appears behind him and slashes at his back, reducing some of his aura. She next looks to establish a choke hold on him but Sin grips the arms to prevent Alexia from locking the hold. He drives the back of his head against Alexia's protected chin in order to make her leg go. Alexia jumps backward to escape a retaliatory strike from the human and throws another smoke bomb. Sin rubs the back of his head after slamming into his opponent's demon mask. Alexia bursts through the smoke, sword poised as she closes in. Sin readies himself when Alexia pulls something out of her pouch attached to her waist and throws it at Sin's face as the ninja faunus passes by him. The stuff she threw at him is the same powder Alexia used on Rena during their first encounter.

Sin grunts from the burning sensation in his eyes, opening one up to try locating the challenger. Out of his peripheral vision, he spots Alexia speeding towards him with her sword ready. Not falling for the same maneuver twice Sin cocks his fist and thrusts it into Alexia's stomach, the aura enhancement repels her. Alexia skids on the arena floor and back flips to her feet.

The two continue exchanging blows, landing the occasional blow and putting a dent into each other's aura.

Up in their seats, the others members of Team TEAL watch Alexia battle it out with Sin.

Tira is cheering the half-dog faunus on, Emmara watches with concern and Cassandra sits in her seat silently.

Alexia charges, gripping Sin's outstretched arm and uses the momentum to dash around, leap off the ground and land a spinning heel kick to the back of Sin's head making the human stumble forward, Alexia swiftly gets in front of him landing an open palm strike to the face, a kick to the ribs from the left, a strong kick to the back of Sin's knee. The RUST representative brings his arms up to catch Alexia's next kick, allowing him to launch a counterattack when Alexia uses her semblance to escape. She throws spear-tipped chain again, Sin catches it and pulls her in, wrapping a length of the chain around his hand. When the half-dog faunus reaches striking distance, Sin lands an aura enhanced punch to his opponent's stomach taking out a good chunk of Alexia's aura. The ninja faunus counters with driving the point of her elbow to Sin's sternum. Alexia blocks the counterattack as the flash bang goes off, disorientating her as Sin presses the attack. The half-dog faunus needs to separate those flash bang gloves from Sin.

Up in the stands, Tira cheered, "Come on, Alexia! Win for Team TEAL, you sexy ninja!" Alexia uses a feint attack to get past Sin's attack and remove one of the gloves.

Sin understands what the ninja faunus is doing and sidesteps another grapple.

The fight continues for another impressive 20 minutes with both combatants evading, weathering or countering each other's attacks, their auras nearing red. Both are breathing heavily and plan their final attack, this one will determine who emerges the victor.

Sin can tell Alexia's out of smoke bombs and kunai. Both challengers rush at each other, ready to land the final blow. A powerful shockwave ripples throughout the enclosed arena. Several intense minutes of silence fill the air until Alexia collapses to the ground as the monitor shows her aura drop to zero as the buzzer sounds.

Professor Port announced, "What a battle! Sin Saber from Team RUST is the winner!" The crowd erupts in applause at the impressive fight they witnessed. Sin's teammates head over to his location.

Rhia hugged him, "You won, Sin. I'm so proud."

Sin returned the embrace, "Of course I did, dear Rhia. I wouldn't want to disappoint a cute fox like you." Rhia blushes while Alena rolls her eyes at the flirting the human is doing with her sister but also has a smile on her that he won. Brick just goes with the flow.

The human suddenly said, "Now it's time for me to go night night." He starts falling backward when Rhia catches him and lays Sin on her lap, shaking her head at his shenanigans.

The rest of Team TEAL rush to Alexia's side to see her passed out but alive.

Both combatants are taken to the infirmary for them to rest for a couple of hours before they regain consciousness.

Sin commented, "That was fun, let's have a rematch sometime."

Alexia nodded, "I'd like that." They both exit the infirmary and wait for the next Singles match.

Rena returns from her meeting with Ashton.

The young man unveiled to her that Sin was once part of a ruthless and violent crime syndicate based in Mistral and he was responsible for the deaths of 23 people in a warehouse. He admitted digging up information about it wasn't easy at all. Whoever was in charge of the crime syndicate didn't want anyone to know what they're doing.

While Ashton hadn't intentionally steered her wrong yet, Rena found it hard to believe Sin would carry out such an act, let alone be part of a super notorious and violent crime syndicate because she would've heard of it during her travels and she's tried finding time to find about it herself. As of right now, she doubted Ashton's claim. And even if Sin did carry out the act and murdered those 23 people, there had to be a reason for it because Sin wasn't the kind of person to murder for the thrill of it or sadism.

She runs an armored hand through her long hair while sighing. Never a dull moment in her fucked up life.

The next thing the faunus hears is sirens wailing and faint screaming coming from the Amity Coliseum, that alerts her and starts running toward the area. She feels her scroll vibrating making her pull it out seeing the caller being Yumi.

She immediately asked, "What's going on?"

Yumi replied, "Rena, a Nevermore is above the arena! Grimm are attacking! Penny, she...she was ripped apart somehow by Pyrrha!"

Rena gasped, "What?"

Yumi confirmed, "Draco, Xavier and myself saw it with our own eyes as did everyone else! Reports are coming in that Grimm are swarming Vale City and heading towards Beacon Academy. Get here, now!"

Rena told her, "I'm on my way." She ended the call and increased her speed, "Fuck, fuck, fuck!" As she gets closer to the entrance to the stands of the coliseum, she sees panicking citizens fleeing the area. She finally passes through the entrance and sees chaos. Her teammates have their weapons ready.

Elsewhere, Venus and her army of True Grimm hear the alarm as well and ready themselves for combat. They see a swarm of Grimm coming at them as they glare at the rapidly approaching beasts. Some of Venus' fighters morph into their true forms while she herself does as well. She roars, telling her people to charge. They run as one into battle.
