It was morning in New Raccoon City as sunlight streamed into the bedroom window of a shiny, palace like apartment where a purpke-mohawked kit was beginning to groggily stir after staying up late reading comics like Raccoon Girl and Spidercoom along with the Avengcoons. It also had slipped her mind, today was the first day of school sitting up hearing gentle knocking on her door while getting dressed in her favourite dark-pink hooded top with black trousers seeing the door opening as Lylla Raccoon her mom entered relieved she was awake and didn't have to use the alarm to wake her which normally had to happen because Shock was sometimes not a morning-kit and also took breakfast to help her
"Good Morning, excited about your first day of school and the friends you're gonna make. Daddy made pancakes which are waiting for you on the table with juice when you're ready." she told her leaving her room making Shock relieved. "Too early for mommy's peppiness but she means well. Gotta pack some comicsfor the ride." she said putting comics in her Spidercoon backpack zipping it up.
Shock or Shocket Melissa Raccoon was six years old and the only kit of Lylla and Rocket Raccoon who loved and encouraged her to be whoever and whatever she wanted to be. She was very smart and sweet but daring but before today hadn't gone to school but had been home-schooled by her mom or Mocket while her dad was busy being the Great Leader of the city they called home however Lylla and Mocket had decided it was time for Shock to be around kits her age meaning starting school at second-grade being too smart for first-gradeand because her dad was who he was, the principal allowed it.
"There's my girl, ready for adventure today. All we expect is that you have fun, make friends and listen to your teacher." Rocket told her kissing her furry head as she was about to leave for the bus stop which Rocket had been anxious about this but Mocket had said it was part of the school experience so he'd relented wanting his lil girl to have fun but Shock hugged Mocket's leg before she left with her jom seeing Rocket sniffling after Lylla and Shock had left the apartment building seeing the bus-stop but Shock was excited yet a lil anxious which Lylla sensed squeezing her paw gently after Shock had hugged Mocket before they'd left the apartment knowing those two were close.
"I get that you're excited maybe nervous, but once you make friends, it'll be okay." she encouraged takingva photo as it was Shock's first day hoping she'd have a good day seeing the school-bus pull up seeing Shock taking deep-breaths before getting on the hus feeling nervoys taking her seat unaware kits were staring at her and whispering knowing who her dad was and a light-blue furred kit with eight-arms wearing a Spidey hooded top with black trousers so would try talking to her at school.
After getting off the bus, Shock was looking up at the elementary-school building but going inside hearing lots of noise and kits in the hallways feeling overwhelmed not knowing where to go or who to ask for help.
"Ummmmm hi there, I'm Itsy Parkercoon, is it your first day, are you new." she heard a vouce saying turning around seeing a light-blue furred female-kit with eight arms wearing a Spidey hooded top with black trousers.
"Y-Yeah I'm new, my name's Shock Raccoon, you look col Itsy.. Can you show me arouhd to the second-grade room." Shock told her seeing Itsy nodding. "Uh-huh of course I can, come on Shock you're gonna love school, I hope." she told her leading the wat to the second-grade room ignoring sone of the kits that made fun of her because of her vibrant fur and her eight arms yet hervdad had tokd her to just ignore them makihg Shock get it as some of the kits were noticing Shock whispering making her a tad nervous which Itsy noticed reassuring her they were more curious as it'd been a while, along while since there'd been an new kit at school.
"Here we are, the second-grade room and your new habitat for the school year." Itsy declared seeing Shock take it in.
"You must be Shocket, they told me you'd be starting today. We're happy to have you in our class and will feel right at home. You have to put your bag away though butvItsy can show you." the teacher said seeing a kit hogging the blocks and causing a commotion but Itsy noticed Shock was quiet.
"My name is Shock actually, that's how my dad, mom and Mocket call me but Shocket is the legal name my parents gave me, so should tell the teacher this." she mumbled making Itsy get it. "Don't worry you can teach her and the class when she introduces you." she told her making her surprised knowing her dad maxe a lot of speeches at the grownup events he and her mom went to.
"It'll be okay, if dad can do it, Itsy what does your Mom and dad do." Shock asked her making Itsy get it.
"I don't have a mom, I have a dad or twi, Shock and it's okay to ask. My daddy Peter teaches at Midtown High teaching science to big-kits while my bonus daddy runs a chimmichonga shop and he made some for lunch." she told her.
"That's awesome well you know what my dad does but my mom helps him run this city but the other kits probably guess that, from their reactions." she told her sitting beside her at her desk.
"I hope she's doing okay at school, plus your mom's wearing shades in the house again, Rocket." Lylla said to him. It was mid-morning in the Raccoon apartment and Rocket had just fijished a video-conference on Zoom so was having coffee but sensed Lylla's anxiety about Shock's firstvday of school seeing Mocket frown at the female-raccoon. "She's fine and I put extea pudding in her lunch bag and she's stronger than you think just like her dad." Mocket told her making Rocket grin at that.
He noticed her paws that were holding a cup of coffee were shaking dropping it hearing it smash making Lylla concerned along with Rocket sensing she hadn't slept again placing a paw around her shoulder. "Come on mom, let's go lie down which you need.":he told Mocket leading her to her room but lying down on the bed with her, knowing snuggling relaxed her and eased her into sleeping when she didn't want to or not want to take her sleeping-meds
"Doesn't this feel good mom, Shock will be okay at school but Lylla's her mom so she's worried about her." he told her
"It does feel good to snuggle Rocket like when you were little. I get Lylla's freaking out but Shock is like us and having a blast at school." Mocket said yawning which was a good sign that she was getting sleepy knowing she wanted him tomstay and keep snuggling. He turned on the nightlight that Mocket slept with which was innthe shape of a raccoon like him leaving her room quietly closing the door rejoining Lylla in te kitchen asking him if Mocket was okay.
"Yep she just xoned out aftervsnuggling and talking." Rocket told her
Meanwhile at school, it was recess and Shock and Itsy were playing until Shock heard a strange sound seeing what looked like a Groot but a raccoon like them seeing it looking at Itsy's candy bar so she was feeding it. "I am Groot." it said impressing Shock knowing it was a Grootcoon wondering what it was doing here.
"It must be a stray, but why did it come here. Here lil guy you can have some of my candy bar too, Groot." Shock told him giving him her candy bar too after eating some herself feeling him hug her making her giggle seeing Itst get an idea. "You should adopt him if he is a stray." she told her surprising Shock. "My parents might think I'm not ready for a pet besides he might have a family looking for him." Shock said.
"I think you're ready as you're this many, you go to school now so of course you're big enough for a pet. Plus you might have your dad wrapped around your paw." Itsy told her making Shocj think.
"Let's see if we can find his family first and then if he is a stray, I'll think about it." she told her seeing Itsy like this ws Groot followed them inside after the bell rang. Shock hoped that her parents and Mocket were okay and that they'd let her keep Groot if he didn't have a family.
