Chapter One: In which Beej becomes the third wheel.

Authors note… I do not own Beetlejuice in any form. I just love it more than anything. This fic is in the cartoon-verse. Also, the first three people who comment on any of my stories get shout outs. Thank you and enjoy the story.

BEETLEJUICE'S POV

Why isn't Lydia here yet? I told her two thirty sharp. It's not every day that a girl turns eighteen. I can't stop fingering the small box in my pocket. I told myself that I would wait 'till she was eighteen. And now that she is… I'm more nervous than a dog at the vet. I wipe sweat from my brow and check the time yet again. Two-thirty-one! I couldn't help it, so I pulled out the velvet covered box. I flip it open. There it is. The most gorgeous engagement ring in the netherworld. I had to pull a lot of strings to get it.

It had a silver band in the form of a coiled snake. All around the scaley snake was bejeweled with diamonds. The eyes of the snake were amethysts. I imagined slipping it onto her delicate finger. Gosh it'd be great. That's when I hear the door opening. I quickly closed the box and shoved it into my pocket. Lydia walks in with…. Oh my gosh…. It's a boy.

"Hi Beetlejuice! I'd like you to meet Alfie." I'm stunned. Who is this tall blonde kid? He doesn't look like Lydia's type. And why haven't I heard about him before? My and Lyds tell each other everything. A stab of jealousy pierces me. But I quickly put on a smile.

"W-Well…. Hi…" I look from Lyds to this Alfie kid. I feel the weight of the velvet box in my pocket. What is this kid doing with my girl?

"Babe, this is Beetlejuice."

Did she just call him babe?! This is not good. With the pet name, I use all my will power not to let my jaw drop.

"Nice to… meet you Alfie." I say though gritted teeth. How long haven't I known about him? Lyds plants a kiss on Alfie's cheek and walks over to give me a hug. A hug! Oh, I'm just your best friend since you were twelve! No need to do show me any appreciation. Thanks a lot!

Alfie smiles revealing a row of perfect white teeth. "I've heard a lot about you Mr. Juice." I can't help but run my striped tongue along my uneven green teeth.

"Have you?" I hardly know what I'm saying. I know I never expressed my love for Lydia but, now I'm regretting it.

"Beej?" Lyds says, "You, okay?" I look from Lydia to Alfie standing awkwardly in the corner.

"Yeah… "I'm, fine."

Alfie comes over to Lydia and pulls her closer to him. "I'm also her fiancé."

My heart stops.

Sorry for the shortness of this chapter. I'm not done, but I will publish the second chapter once I get a comment. (First person to comment gets a shoutout!)
