It's been a little over 100 years since the end of the Dimensional war, and the final defeat of the darkness that was Zarc, while the descendants of those who fought in that war live peaceful lives. Entertainment duels continue to grow as a primary source of enjoyment for people of all four dimensions.
In the Standard Dimension, a small building with the initials YS hung up on the sign above the door. This is the You Show Detective Agency. Inside are two of the agency's only staff members.
Sat behind their desk, sipping a cup of black coffee while reading a good book is Shotaro Robin. The head of the agency, and the best investigator of the crew, he runs the agency without breaking a sweat.
The other in a flashy jacket, practicing magic tricks with modified playing cards is Dennis Macfield Junior, or DM for short. Grandson to Dennis Macfield who fought as part of the Lancers and Academia in the Dimension war, he works as part of the agency while practicing his craft as a stage magician like his father.
The door opens. Entering the agency is one of the other investigators working at the shop, Kurokawa Hikaru. Dressed like she's ready for a hike in the desert, Hikaru is known for her skills in infiltration and espionage.
Hikaru walks over to the main desk where Shotaro is sitting and pours herself a cup of coffee. "Good morning, boss. Anything new for us to work on today, or can I take the day off?"
"There's always something to work on, so I'd say you might want to pull up a chair."
At that moment a white pigeon flies passed them, followed by DM calling out, "Sorry, boss!"
"Dennis, what did I tell you about magic pigeons in the office?"
"Only when we've successfully helped a client."
Hikaru looks around the office. "Where's the Genius? In his lab?" Before either of the two can answer her question, they hear a sudden boom outside. Rolling their eyes, she heads for the door. Catching the pigeon, DM decides to follow after her.
Once outside, they head over to the shed. The windows are blacked out from the amount of smoke and sut that's stained them from past experiments. Hanging over the shed door is a sign that says 'Genius at Work' with the word Genius painted over with Crazy.
"I swear he spends all day, every day in this shed, trying to crack his formula," Hikaru comments as she rushes to the door.
"Come on, you know how passionate he is about this. It's his dream to," DM is cut off mid-sentence by Hikaru throwing her finger in his face.
"There's nothing wrong with having dreams. We're the same. But you still have to live in reality. And the reality is, he's on the clock like us."
Before either of them can open the door, a loud, unyielding voice calls out to them, "Yo, this that Agency place?" They both turn to see a generic thug-type with his gang of 90s rejects. "I thought I asked you people nicely to get out of here, and hand over the place to yours truly."
Shotaro opens the door, having heard the voice of the thug. "Dragun," he remarks. Stepping out, he gets between his agents and the thug. "I thought I told you to get lost. My family's shop is not for sale." Despite being shorter than the thug, Shotaro squares off with them, looking them dead in the eye.
"Oh, tough guy? My boys told me you know how to throw a good punch, but how are you with cards." Dragun pulls out a rusty-looking duel disk, clearly seen better days, and attaches it to his arm, equipping it to him. "What do you say? One on one, me versus one of you, winner keeps the shop."
The shed door swings open, catching everyone's attention. Shotaro smirks at seeing the fourth member of the agency finally show themself. With a face full of smoke, they wipe it off, pulling down the scarf from their mouth before pulling the goggles over his head. Revealing their diamond-blue eyes, they look around to see what's going on. He doesn't say anything at first. Instead just observes the scene.
This is Akira Yuzuki. Often the ones sent on investigations by Shataro, keep to themself in the shed working on their experiments.
Akira notices Dragun and his gang hanging around with their duel disks ready. Reading the situation, his eyes start to sparkle like stats. "You're here looking for a duel right?" He asks, catching them off guard. Pulling his own duel disk from nowhere, he straps it to his arm, activating it. "I'll take you on if you don't mind being my test dummy."
Confused, Dragun accepts the duel regardless. "Smart choice. But be sure, once we're done, this whole joint will be ours." While they get into position, Akira slips their card into the extra deck of his duel disk before they start.
Dragun 4000 LP
VS
Akira Yuzuki 4000 LP
"I'll show you what a real monster looks like with this. By sending three monsters from my hand to the grave, I can special summon Montage Dragon in attack mode!" Dragun discards Serpent Night Dragon, Tyrant Dragon, and Luster Dragon 2 from his hand to summon a three-headed dragon with undetermined attack points. "Montage Dragons attack is equal to their combined levels times 300."
[Montage Dragon L8 Earth Dragon ATK 6300]
"Let's see you try and destroy my monster. I doubt you have anything with more attack points than it in your hand."
"I don't have anything in my whole deck that has higher attack points," Akira confidently proclaims. "But attack points aren't everything." He starts his turn. "I summon Brace Light Swordsman in attack mode." Akira summons a warrior in a tunic and cape, hiding their face while wielding a magic sword.
[Light Swordsman L4 Earth Warrior ATK 1700]
"That's your ace? You can't be seriously thinking that thing can defeat my Dragon?"
"I am serious. Especially after I use the Blustering Winds spell card to increase his attack by 1000." Swordsman becomes empowered by the strong winds that surround him.
[Swordsman ATK 1700 - 2700]
"Battle! I attack Montage Dragon with Brave Light Swordsman!" Akira calls the attack and his monster charges. The three-headed dragon fires back to defend itself, yet the warrior blocks it with their sword before slicing it down the middle, destroying it.
Dragun is stunned at what transpired. Made worse when he notices his life points take a significant hit in just one attack.
[Dragun LP 4000 - 1300]
"What the hell was that?"
"When my monster battles another, he negates the effects of the opposing monster. Meaning Montage Dragon's attack went to 0 since it used its effect to decide their attack." With a successful turn, Akira ends it there. With Dragun using up most of their hand on the previous turn, he sees this as a sure win for him.
Grinding their teeth, Dragun starts to lose their cool from having his monster destroyed so easily.
"Draw!" He turns over the top card, fueled by his anger. "I activate Graceful Charity to draw three cards, and then discard two" Adding to his hand, and discarding Spear Dragon and Rare Metal Dragon his temper becomes calmer as he draws his ace. "I activate the spell, Dragon's Mirror. I banish my Serpent Night, Spear, Tyrant, Rare Metal, and Luster Dragon 2 from my graveyard to fusion summon." The five banished dragons fuse together, creating a larger, giant dragon with five elemental-themed heads. "Fusion Summon! Level 12! Five-Headed Dragon!"
[Five-Headed L12 Dark Dragon Fusion ATK 5000]
"Battle! I attack your swordsman!" Akira's monster tries to put up a fight, dodging a weaving around the attacks, but unfortunately, the five-headed beast catches up with him, reducing them to nothing.
[Akira LP 4000 - 1700]
"I set this card facedown and end my turn," Dragun feels fairly confident now. To him, he's now the one with the assured victory. Looking down at his trap card, he has an inner monologue, "With my Dragon's Rage trap card, if he tries to defend, I can just inflict piercing and end this in one shot."
Akira looks over the cards in his hand. He has an idea of how to turn the duel around, the same one he originally had at the start, but he just needs one more piece.
"Draw," pulling his next card, he smiles upon seeing what he pulled. He adds it to his hand before picking another. "First I play The Warrior Returning Alive to add Swordsman back to my hand, and then I'll summon him to the field." Akira quickly starts to rebuild his field. "Because I control a Brave monster with a level other than 3, I can special summon Brave Wing Eagle from my hand." Following the swordsman, Akira summons a large, armored eagle to the field. "Next, I use the spell Brave call. By targeting a Brave monster I control, I can special summon a monster with a level one greater or lower. So by targeting Swordsman, I summon Brave Path Magician to the field."
[Wing Eagle L3 Wind Winged Beast ATK 1300]
[Path Magician L5 Light Spellcaster ATK 2100]
"Big deal. None of your monsters can be compared to my dragon. They're all different levels so you can't Xyz. None of them are tuners so Synchro is out of the question. And I doubt you have the cards for Fusion or Ritual. Nothing you have can stop me."
Akira lets them boast and gloat until he's had enough. "It's true I can't use any of those methods to summon a monster, which is why I'll use another." Everyone's attitudes shift at the mention of another method. "Using my three monsters, Level 3 Wing Eagle, Level 4 Light Swordsman, and Level 5 Path Magician, I can rise to greater heights." His extra deck starts glowing before his side of the field gets engulfed in flames. "The conditions are met. Three Brave monsters of sequential levels!"
The three monsters become lights as they leave the field, and join together in the sky. Absorbing the flames, they combine to create a single monster.
"Rizing Summon! Grade 3! Brave Rizing Dragon!" The flames explode, revealing a burning red dragon with large wings, glowing scales, and a near-robotic look.
[Rizing Dragon G3 Fire Dragon Rizing ATK 2500]
"What the hell is that?!"
"You actually did it? You finally created something!"
"It's amazing!"
Akira soaks in the praise at completing his seemingly impossible task. "Yes. Not only has my alchemy created a monster. I created a new summoning method. Rizing Summon. I'll tell you about it later, but first I have a duel to win."
"You're mad! Even if your monster is new, it still can't compete with my Dragon!"
"Not when my Dragon uses his special ability. Because he was Rizing Summoned, I can target a special summoned monster and gain its attack until the end of the turn." Rizing Dragon absorbs energy from Dragun's Five-Headed Dragon.
[Rizing Dragon ATK 2500 - 7500]
"Battle! Brave Rizing Dragon, attack Five-Headed Dragon for the game!" Taking to the skies, Akira's monster turns its body into a being of pure fire as it darts around the sky. They consume the fire gathered into a ball of flames before firing it at Dragun's monster. The beast tries to defend, but five heads aren't enough to destroy something so awesome. The attack reduces the rest of Dragun's life points to nothing, winning Akira the duel.
[Dragun LP 1300 - 0]
Dragun drops to his hands and knees in defeat. His spirit was crushed by his strongest monsters being taken down by ones he underestimated. Akira stands over the defeated Dragun. They look up as if to ask who they are. "My name is Akira Yuzuki. I'm a duelist, Alchemist, and part-time Investigator here at the You Show Agency. That's who I am."
