Thomas awoke with a start. He stayed here dazed and confused before scrambling up to his feet. This wasn't his room. The cold air around him and the fact that he was in a random alleyway he didn't recognize might have helped him to realize. A quick peek at his clothes didn't give him much more information. He was in his everyday attire, but he was fairly certain he went to sleep normally the day before.
After a few seconds of hesitation, the teen finally started moving. He couldn't guess more about what happened to him without more information. He wobbled a bit on his feet before managing to gain back his footing. The walk toward the street wasn't a long one. Thomas pointedly ignored the feeling of the Celestial trio settling into his being. He didn't want to bother himself with that yet.
Or, more realistically. He had to learn more before making any big decisions. Walking a bit quicker once he went out in the open, he looked around the place, trying to guess where he ended up.
30 minutes later, he was sitting at a small café, waiting for his order. The smell of coffee and people's chatting filled the place as he thought on what to do next. He was a bit out of place but, he had other concerns. Mainly making plans.
If the fact that he literally came across Rias motherfucking Gremory was of any indication, he guessed he had somehow found himself inside Highschool dxd. That and being in Japan made him pretty sure this was Kuoh.
Now he had one main problem. He didn't have anywhere to go, or any money for that matter. Now, this would have been a very scary situation for anyone, but Thomas was fairly certain he could get himself out of it quite simply.
He was going to use the forge. That would allow him to both test how it worked and maybe get out of this pickle. He quickly got up and left the place. Thankfully, he had some money on him. He slipped out of public view and focused inside.
He had noted that none of his charge was used by any of the celestials. Furthermore, he feared that he might not have enough points, but he was quickly reassured. He had more than enough power to reach the lower powers, and yet nothing happened. He was quite curious about what was happening and tried to influence the power.
A few minutes of testing taught him that he had full control over his power. Meaning, when he had accumulated enough power, he could move it to get any skill/perk/item he wanted.
A celestial trio with fully controllable charge. That was extremely strong. Considering he was still in highschool dxd that might only be the minimum required to survive.
Thomas refocused. He had a plan. He quickly moved most of his power toward a single perk. Not incredibly powerful, but it would still be two thirds of his total charge. His experiments also showed him that he could understand a power before taking it. This made the choice much easier.
A few minutes of research finally landed him his answer. It was called minerals right. And it did exactly that. The power simply gave him mine. Actual mine in the real world. How did that work? Thomas didn't really care. All he cared about was that it would lend him a LOT of money.
Finally, the boy opened his eyes. Now he knew what to do. He could feel the knowledge slowly settle itself into his brain. Location, production and contract. He was the proud possessor of approximately 752 different mines all throughout the world. The perk didn't lie. There were a lot of mines.
He began walking toward the nearest payphone. As he had no idea where he was, he sadly had to talk to other people to find one. 10 minutes later he stood before a clearly not very used payphone and grimaced. It was only one call, he could do it.
He paid the fee and picked the phone. He entered a number he didn't know 15 minutes before.
"What do you want ?" A gruff voice responded. Clearly not very happy being called at such an hour.
"It's me. I need a Japanese account." Said Thomas. He was contacting one of his mine's overseers to give him access to the bank account on which most of the mine's profits were stored.
That seemed to shock the older man awake. "Y-yes boss. Right away" He answered. The stress clearly evident in his voice. A bit of noise was heard over the phone and right after an answer came.
"Right, the codes are…" The man quickly listed off the credential to Thomas. After he had gotten everything, the teen quickly began looking for a bank. The account he had chosen was not done so at random. He had intentionally chosen one from a bank he knew had an outlet in Japan.
It would have been pretty embarrassing to find himself unable to access any money because he forgot to take into account the geographic situation he was in. After a few more minutes of walking, he ended up in front of the place he was looking for.
A few minutes later, he walked out of the bank with a temporary credit card and about 100 euro worth of yen. Finally, now he could survive by himself. His first objective was to get a phone. Then find a hotel room.
The first step took him longer than he wanted to admit. But after enough asking around, he had finally gotten his hands on a phone for himself. Now everything would be easier. Mostly because of Google Maps. Or Gaagle map as it was called in this world.
Thomas quickly found a hotel and made his way over. He might or might not have chosen one of the most expensive in the city, but now he had money. He could indulge himself a little. Finally, after a long day, he collapsed on the bed. The weight of his new reality crashing down on him.
He knew he could probably make it out alive, especially considering his newfound power. But Highschool dxd was still a pretty scary place, all things considered.
Between the random quasi omnipotent dragon gods and the devil trying to make you their slave, as much as the series made it out to be good a peerage was still composed of slaves, this wasn't the best universe to end up into.
Thomas stood up with a groan. As much as he wanted to sleep here and now, he still had things to do. He grabbed his new phone and dialed in a new number.
A young woman answered, clearly annoyed by the interruption in her work.
"Yes ?" She asked. The irritation seeping in her voice.
"Natsumi. It's me. I need you to find me a house in Kuoh. Should be around middle class. Try to keep it ordinary. And if you could also find me a small shop near it, it would be the best. Buy them immediately." Thomas said.
Once again, he relied on his "mining right" power. The woman he had called was the head of one of his three Japanese mining operations. Most importantly, she was knee-deep in the economic market of the country. If there was one girl he could rely on to find him a more permanent home, it was her.
Her shocked gasp came over the line before she rapidly took back control over herself.
"Of course sir. This will be done promptly." she answered. She knew her boss well, and wasting time talking wasn't something he particularly enjoyed.
Thomas smiled, this was going better than he anticipated. He looked at his phone and hung up. She could work by herself. He dropped the phone on the nightstand and went to sleep. This had been a long day for him.
