Before you read, I'd like to introduce another OG character of my MA-IU, Ethan Brookes, a close friend of Peter and MJ and the Cameraman of MJ to, he later becomes a superhero of his own called the Metal-Spider, but for now in this universe, Ethan is just a simple camera man of Mary Jane Watson.
*I don't own anything! All rights belong to their rightful owners! Except for Gwen's original Powers, my character concepts of Mary Jane Watson, and some few Original Characters of this story, that's mine!*
It's another beautiful day in Metropolis, as Kara was getting out of her bed. Then she heard the alarm clock ringing while the news was coming on. "And In this morning's headline, Superman is at it again." Kara was not amused as she smashed the alarm clock and groaned about it. So, she was listening to the radio with her headphones and making her way to school, but everywhere she went, she always seemed to see Superman, on the news and on posters. "And after such a trying ordeal, it was all thanks to Superman that the orphans were saved. In other news, Superman…" a female reporter said. "Metropolis's Big Blue Boy Scout, Superman, a hero for all to us-" The radio anouncer "Superman! Superman! Superman!" Tourists on the bus were chanting his name which made Kara more irritated, however the bus drove off of which it made the water from the puddle splash Kara which earned Kara a very angry groan.
Eventually, she arrived at school, feeling relieved as Kara said, "Finally, a place where I don't have to see his annoying face-" However the newspaper flies on her face. Kara grabs it and reads it to see what's on it which makes her groan in frustration and stomps on paper. Kamala and Gwen were just walking to the school until they saw Kara. "Sup, Kara! Hey, what's wrong?" Gwen asked. "Yeah, K, it looked like you had a test that you forgot to do." Kamala suggested what she thought.
"That's not what. Superman, that's what!" Kara said. "Superman, you mean your cousin Superman?" Kamala asked. "Yes, He's the suppose to be Metropolis #1 hero! He gets on my nerves sometimes. Those newspaper people can't think of any other hero to do a report on, but Superman! It feels like everyone loves him." Kara sarcastically said, which made Kamala laugh and said. "What's so funny?" Kara asked. "Don't be silly Kara Danvers, Like you said Superman is Metropolis's #1 hero but he's not the #1 hero in the world." Kamala answered. "What do you mean?" Kara asked. "Besides, he's not as popular as the Avengers." Kamala explained. "And compared to them and the "man of steel", about 57% of the population of the planet loves the avengers, and about 3% loves superman." Kamala explained. "What about the 40%?" Gwen asked. "Oh well you know, 32% of X-men, 27% Fantastic 4, and 1% that Gotham nut case. Oh yeah, Babs isn't the only superhero expert." Kamala explained while also telling herself. "Yeah but everyone from that 7% loves that show off." Kara said in anger. "What Kamala is trying to say is besides is even if your suppositive "cousin" is very popular, but he's not all that popular than the Avengers, and sure you may not recognizable superhero, because no one thinks your a kryptonian out there, besides the FF, the X-men and the students of the Xavier institute, and hey they still love you for it." Gwen reasoned to Kara.
Kara smiled at Gwen's speech and said, "You're right. But still, who would be showing my cousin in the school's newspaper?" Gwen notices the school news room address and the person, and said "Maybe here we'll find your answer." as she points out. "Okay, let's check it out!" Kara said as the trio went off inside of the school.
In the Daily Planetoid, we see a black haired reporter with pencil in her hair busy on a computer. "Olsen! Where's my art? Layout's in five!" She told Jimmy as he was on the rush. "Cruz! ETA on the Enviro-Beat column? Gimme words!" Lois told Jess as she was working on her project. "Almost done, Lois!" Jess said.
Lois was then eating her bagel, until she saw the paper that Jimmy gave her. "Say, that's swell, Olsen!" Then she went back to work on typing on the computer. Then, Kara, Kamala, and Gwen show up, as Kara slams Lois' computer shut. "What's buzzing, cousin?" Lois asked. She then notices the girls beside her. "And hello to Khan and Stacy." Lois greeted. "Sup, Lois!" Gwen said. "Hey Big L!" Kamala responded. "No Avengers pictures this time." she said. But then Kara showed her paper and askes, "Why are you printing stuff about him in the school paper?"*
"What's eatin' you, Danvers?" Lois asked as she opened her story. "That's a legitimate story and I'm a legitimate reporter. Got it? Now who's got a pencil?" she asked. Gwen tried to get her attention by saying, "You got some in your-" but she got interrupted by Kara as she closed her computer again. "There are way more important stories out there than Superman." Kara stated
"She's right. I've got a lead on some terrible chemical dumping." Jess suggested, However, they didn't seem to care. "Sorry! Maybe next time." Kamala said, which then Jessica frowned and walked away. "What if I told you there was another hero out there, hmm? A better hero with all the same powers as Superman but even awesomer… better than the Avengers." Kara asked. "... besides the Avengers?" Kamala asked. "That's impossible!" she stated. "I like your potatoes, Danvers, and Khan, but where's the meat? What other hero's gonna get me an internship at the Daily Planet?" Lois asked. "Yeah and how can there be a hero better than Avengers?" Kamala asked. "Ever heard of Supergirl?" Kara asked. 'Oh boy!' Gwen thought to herself while eye rolling. 'Her? Seriously?' Kamala thought in a depressed way.
Lois Lane opens her computer and asks, "Super who?" Until Kara closes her computer again and asked, "Supergirl!" Kamala stepped in and askes, "and Have you heard of Ghost-Spider and Ms. Marvel?" "oh yeah, Ms. Marvel and Ghost-Spider, the two uncanny duo." Lois recognized, which made Kara irritated. 'Uncanny? That's the X-men's title.' Ms. Marvel thought as she felt offended by Lois's comment. "Uh, hello? What about Supergirl?!" Kara shouted in irritation.
"Eh, sounds like a retread to me. If this Supergirl to yours did anything to earn the front page, trust me, she'd be there. And as Ghost-Spider and Ms. Marvel, they'll be really interesting to interview with. Now will someone please get me a pencil?" Lois said. Kara ended up taking the ones in her hair and crushing them in half. Then she walked away. "Ah, there they are." Lois said to the crushed pencils. Kamala grabbed her spare pencils from her back and handed them over to Lois. "here you can take mine." Kamala said. "Thanks!" Lois said. "Any time Big boss L." Kamala said. "Well we better get going." Gwen said as she started to walk away. Kamala then joins Gwen as they left the room.
Later, in science class, the girls were doing some chemistry, while Kara was rambling on about her cousin, and being careless with the chemicals. "Sounds like a retread to me." Kara mocked Lois. 'doesn't she shut up?' Gwen said in an annoying face. "Ugh. What does that even mean?" Kara said as she was pouring chemicals but wasn't paying attention. "Uh, um, Kara? Maybe just a few grams of that potassium, please." Karen tried to get her attention but was ignored by Kara's rambling. "If anyone's a retread it's him. Did you know I was 12 when Uncle Jor-El and Aunt Lara had him? I used to baby-sit him back on Krypton!" Kara continued on. 'Wow no wonder why she's so strict.' Kamala thought. "Really? I mean, dude, that bites! No wonder you're so mad." Babs said.
Karen tried again as she said, "You know what's mad? Adding too much lithium chloride.." but the liquid was bubbling. "Um, Kara…" Karen tried but no luck. "Yeah, I could've gone to Earth first and then everyone would love me, but no, I had to get stuck in space stasis while he was down there becoming a... "Man." I mean, I have the exact same power as him.I come from the exact same planet. I practically have the exact same backstory-" Kara was about to finish, the whole room exploded. "Oops. My bad." Kara said as she took off her glasses and looked around. "What happened?" she then looked at Karen and said, "I thought you measured all this stuff?"
"No, you did this. You poured in too much of the chemicals in it!" Gwen snapped at the blonde punk.
"Don't worry about it, Gwendy, she can get easily distracted." Kamala explained. "I don't get distracted. I'm just upset about my cousin!" Kara shouted. "Its okay Kara, Gwen and I fight sometimes, but we get along and get over it, you know yin and yang." Kamala said. "Any who, when you add heat to high volatile chemicals, they-" Karen was interrupted again by Kara's nagging.
"Mmm-hmm, mmm-hmm, mmm-hmmm. So why do they all love him and nobody even notices me?" she asked herself. "Ooh! You know what you should do? Make them notice you. Get out there and show 'em what Supergirl can do!" Babs suggested. Kara thought for a second about Babs' idea. "Yeah... Yeah!" Kara went with it. "A word of caution, Kara. When we seek glory, it can sometimes blind us to the greater good." Diana said. "Diana's right Kara, being famous is not a real way to be a true hero, you'll just be following in someone else's footsteps. My word of advice, just be yourself." Gwen said. "Hmm. You're right. I'm gonna knock his grinning face off the front paper." Kara declared, which they groaned with frustration. "Count me in Kara!" Kamala shouted. "You want to help me?" Kara was puzzled. "Yeah, if I prove that I can be better than Superman, I can impress the strongest teams, especially the Avengers." Ms. Marvel said. Kara's face turned into a confident face and said, "Well alright, lets get that super loser!" then they fist bumped not until they turned to Gwen. "Oh no, no, no, no, I've been to every shenanigan every time I have an adventure with either of you and this time I actually want to have a little day off and try to…" Gwen was about to finish, Kamala gave Gwen the puppy dog eyes to convince her, and without decision…
"… Fine! But I'm coming, But I'm coming to show you how pointless this is!" Gwen said while pouting. 'Works every time.' A couple hours later, Ghost-Spider, Ms. Marvel and Supergirl were now out on patrol, stopping crimes and disasters, such as purse snatchings, derailed trains, buildings on fire, incoming meteors, people drowning, oil spills, buses falling off bridges, and defusing bombs. There was one time that Ghost-Spider and Ms. Marvel got some credit when they stopped a couple of robberies and they recently caught a group of masked men who were robbing a grocery store. Afterwards, the robbers were put into police cars. Then, people start to circle Ghost-Spider and Ms. Marvel to cheer for them. "No need to thank me, just your friendly neighborhood Ghost-Spider!" ghost-Spider said, until she didn't notice that the crowd was gone. "Uh, GS!" Ms. Marvel got her attention. "What?" Ghost-Spider asked. Ms Marvel points at a crowd as it Turns out the crowd changed towards to Superman, when he just rescued a cat from a tree, causing the crowd to go crazy. "Superman! Superman! Superman!" The crowd cheered which Supergirl screamed in anger
After Superman flew off, Ms. Marvel and Gwen went after him to chew him out. However since they couldn't fly, Ms. Marvel was doing parkour with her elasticity, while Ms. Marvel spun a few webs to follow them. 'I knew I'm going to regret this.' Ghost spider thought to herself. "You're right about your cousin. He sure is a glory hog," Ms Marvel said while jumping. "I know right! Let's go talk to him." Supergirl said. "Right behind you." Ms Marvel said. "I'm Telling you Danvers, This is…" But before Ghost-Spider could finish, she saw the two head off, "...Pointless, Great!" she spun a web and caught up.
Soon, they caught up with Superman. "Hey. Hey!" Supergirl tried to get Superman's attention but was ignored which made her annoyed so she shouted at the top of her lungs, "HEY!" "Huh? What?" Superman turned to see… "Supergirl? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in school or something?" he asked. "Uh, it's Saturday." Supergirl answered. Superman then noticed Ghost-Spider and Ms. Marvel when they came in. "Oh, it's the uncanny duo, Ghost-Spider and Miss. Marvel." Superman said. "One, its "Ms" as in Ms. Marvel, and the word 'Uncanny' is the X-men's title!" Ms. Marvel shouted. "Anyway, what we're doing here is telling you to back off!" Kara demanded. "Back off? Ha, I don't follow." Superman asked. "I've been working my butt off for days trying to save people in Metropolis. But every time I do something to prove I'm a hero, there you are-" Before Supergirl could finish. "Being a hero?" Superman finished.
"Yes! I... I mean no. Ah uh, I, I mean…" Supergirl was trying to think of a comeback, which made Ghost-Spider put her hand on her face in embarrassment. "Listen, cuz, if I've told you once, I've told you a million times. Being a real hero takes time and experience. Experience I have. As an adult." Superman said. This gives a chance for Ghost-Spider to come in and say, "Listen Supes, he's right, being a real hero it's not all about…" however she got interrupted once again when supergirl scoffed and said, "Adult? You were Superboy, like, last summer!" Ghost-Spider earned herself a frustrated groan and thought to herself, 'Why am I the only responsible one of the team.' "Really?" Ms. Marvel asked. Superman felt a little embarrassed, but then he covers it up and said, "It was two summers ago, and that's beside the point. Accept it. You're just not ready." "You're wrong!" Ms. Marvel shouted as she stretched her legs up to Superman. "She's the greatest hero I've ever known!" she said while standing up for Supergirl. "How do you know that? Shouldn't you be related to that Mr. Fantastic guy" Superman asked, which made Ms. Marvel growl with anger. "Face it, Miss Marvel, she's not ready." Superman said as he flew off. "Thats Ms. Marvel!" Ms. Marvel shouted at the top of her lungs. "Man for a Super"Man" he's such a Super"Jerk"! No wonder why the Avengers don't approve of him, Right Kara?" she asked but she then sees Kara feeling hurt. "Kara?" Ms. Marvel asked to see if she's alright, but then Supergirl's eyes burned with rage. "Oh no…" Ms. Marvel said nervously.
"Supergirl, Nooooo!" Ghost-Spider tried to stop her but it was too late. Fueled with rage, Supergirl flew and shouted, "I'll show you ready!" and tries to punch but misses him. "Oh, ho, ho! See? Not even close." Superman taunts his cousin, which makes Kara more mad and tries to attack him. But the more she tried to punch him the more he missed. "Behind you!" he taunted. Supergirl tried to punch him one more time but missed again. Just as the two joined up with the fight and saw more of what happened. "Missed me! I mean, seriously, you call this fighting?" Superman asked.
Luckily, she was able to hit him into the ground. Ms. Marvel smirked and said, "Nice hit SuperGirl!" However Ghost-Spider wasn't to pleased about Ms. Marvel's support as she pushed her and said, "Shut Up! This is all of their fault! You guys, this is pointless, being a hero is "not" about-" before she could finish. "You got a lot to learn, kids." Superman said. "Ha! That's what I said to you when you were potty training!" Supergirl said. Ms. Marvel laughed and said, "I guess someone didn't do well with the toilet!" as she laughed harder which made Ghost-Spider frustrated even more as she puts her hand on her face.
Superman just didn't say anything to that. Superman then attacks Supergirl.
"You're just jealous I'm-" Superman was about to finish when supergirl said, "A pompous bonehead?" "With an ego problem!" Ms. Marvel shouted. "I'll show you a bonehead with an ego problem!" Superman shouted. "No, I'll show you." Supergirl shouted back then they both bash heads together. It was not a great idea because it really hurt as Kara was checking on her head, but Superman whimpered and said, "You're messing with the look." as she was fixing his look. "Oh, big deal!" Ms. Marvel shouted. But the battle continued "Stop acting like a child!" Superman shouted. "Why don't you make me, Clark?" Kara taunted. "Don't call me Clark, Kara!" Superman shouted. "Why don't you make me, Clark?" Supergirl taunted again. "You're both acting like Childs. Does that settle it?" Ghost-Spider shouted. "This needs to end, and I'm putting a stop to this!" she declared. "But how?" Ms. Marvel asked. "How could we stop overpowered superheroes?" she asked more. Remembering her battle with Giganta, she got an idea. "I got, Ms. Marvel, I need you to be my slingshot." Ghost-Spider told the inhuman. "What? Why?!" Ms Marvel asked. "Trust me I got an idea." Ghost-Spider said.
Soon, their fighting soon continued throughout the city. But little did they know, a certain illegal chemical pumping was being poured onto some trash after a metal pipe accidentally hit the lever. The chemicals that were dumped into the dumpster bin created a monster out of toxic waste, AKA Chemo. People were screaming and panicking, however Lois and Jimmy stayed behind. "Opportunity just knocked, kiddo. Ready to earn that Daily Planet Internship?" Lois asked herself before she picked up a rock. "Hey, goo guts! Turn around and smile for the chemical!" When Lois tossed the rock, it ended up going right through Chemo, as the chemicals splattered, making it acidic, and Chemo was angry. "On second thought, run now, pictures later!" Lois said as they ran away. However another duo which was Mary Jane Watson, the famous reporter of the daily bugle and her cameraman/close friend, Ethan Brookes, who appears to be a 27 year old korean-american with black hair, white skin, and green eyes, he wore a blue polo shirt, with a black jacket overneath, navy blue jeans, and white sneakers. "Ethan, get the camera ready!" Mj told Ethan of what he did while trying to record the monster. Meanwhile Karen saw the monster and panicked but then thought of something.
Meanwhile, Ms. Marvel was using her elasticity and her body as a slingshot. "Oh, I knew I should've had that second vegan donut for breakfast." Ms. Marvel said as she was in pain. "Right there!" Ghost-Spider got the angle she was looking for. "LAUNCH!" she shouted as she then got sling shotted by Ms. Marvel's body as she was heading towards the Kryptonians, who were having a cat fight. "Quit it!" Supergirl shouted. "You quit it!" Superman shouted. "You started it!" Supergirl shouted. "You did!" Superman shouted back. "You did first!" Supergirl shouted. Until Ghost-Spider was flying towards them, while gathering Bio-Energy in her fists. "ENOUGH!" then with the punch plus the impact of her slingshot caused a huge explosion that made both the kryptonians crash on the roof of the building while Ghost-Spider landed gracefully. "I don't care who started, but the one to blame is the both of you!" Ghost-Spider shouted as her big sister mode was on. "Look at you all, you're all behaving like a bunch of toddlers fighting over a toy!" she pointed out. She then turned to Superman. "You! How dare you treat your cousin like this, she was trying her best to catch up to you and all you can do is say, "she's not ready!"' she stated to Superman, he tried to fend for himself but Ghost-Spider continued on, "You should've supported her, give her a little confidence boost not gloat about being a hero! Because that's what Family is for, Supporting each other, not pushing her back!" This actually made Superman guilty. Kara was laughing at him which then Ghost-Spider turned around in anger. "And YOU!" she shouted. "What? What did I do?" Supergirl asked. "I'll tell you what! You've been ignoring my advice throughout this whole day! And I have tried to tell you this many times, but you. Wouldn't. Listen. Being about fame! It's about being there for the people who need them. You're strong if you stand up for yourself. But you're stronger if you stand up for others. But didn't know that, because you're too stubborn to understand!" Stated, which made Supergirl feel ashamed. Ms. Marvel, who just got to the area where the others were, was amazed by how she managed to get them to regret what they did.
"Hey, Superman!" Lois shouted, which made them turn their heads towards what's going on as Chemo was attacking the city. "Help!" she shouted in plead for help. "Supergirl snapped back from his shame and grabbed supergirl. "Playtime's over, kid." Superman said as he tossed Supergirl away into the city. "KARA!" the two girls shouted as they went after her.
After that, Superman went to deal with Chemo, while showing off, while the crowd was chanting his name again, while Mj and Ethan were witnessing the whole thing. Supergirl then just walked away, knowing there wasn't anything else she could do. As she started to walk away, Ghost-Spider and Ms. Marvel ran back and saw that she was watching her give up. "No, no, no, no, don't give up!" Ms Marvel said, "It's okay, Kara, you're still the best hero to me." Ms. Marvel said.
Supergirl was so sad and said, "Thanks, Kamala. But he's right, I'm not ready." Ghost-Spider was so frustrated by how giving them discipline didn't work, but then realized the lesson she learned about being her own hero, then she got an idea. "Don't say that! Even though it's famous, the Students of the Xavier Institute love you, not how famous you are, but by being yourself. You're better than him, and that's what makes you special and how you care for them. That's what it means to be a true hero!" Ghost-Spider shouted. Supergirl blushed with delight as she hugged Ghost-Spider and said, "Thank you Gwen, and I'm really sorry for not listening to your advice, I really am stubborn."
"Apology accepted Kara." Gwen said. Sooner than later, Bumblebee came in. "Supergirl! Listen! You-" but she was interrupted by supergirl and said, "What are you doing here? Come to see the great hero, too?" Karen started to explain. "No, listen! You have to stop him before he hits that thing! It's filled with hydrogen fluoride and antimony pentafluoride! It's 20 quintillion times more corrosive than sulfuric acid!" But Kara got confused. He's made of super-dangerous glop! If Superman hits him, the splatter will be so massive it'll reduce Metropolis to a smoking hole in the ground." Bumblebee explained in Kara's language.
The three girls gasped in horror as they saw that Superman was about to punch it. Superman kissed his muscles and said, "Daddy's little helpers!" "But... I don't know how to stop it!" Supergirl declared it. "Remember chemistry class? High temperatures can break chemicals down to their base elements! Get him away from Superman and blow him up!" Bumblebee shouted. "She's right, and listen to her. It might work." Ghost-Spider said. Kara then remembered all of the experiences before and then did a confident look, "Yeah! Let's do this!" she declared.
So, Supergirl charged at Chemo and grabbed him into the air and out of Earth's atmosphere, ready to blow him up with her laser vision. Then when her laser destroyed Chemo that left a bunch of harmless sparkles that came raining down.
"Huh?" Superman felt confused. "Oh, yes!" he got over it as he was showing off again as he was showing off again, while the crowd was cheering for him. "Thank you, thank you. You're too kind." Superman said with pride. "Always here for Metropolis. Oh, yes." he took more pride as he was being treated.
Then Supergirl, Ghost-Spider, and Ms. Marvel came back to their normal forms. Kara saw what's going on and was looking down until she walked up to the girls. "Hey guys." Kara greeted. "Kara! That was amazing!" Babs said. "You just saved the entire city!" Jessica said. "And talk about a spectacle! Brava!" Zee said. "Yeah. I guess it's good that someone pays attention to chemistry." Kara stated. "And you listened to advice, I'm proud of you Kara." Gwen said. "Yeah, I give it a big…thumbs up for you Big K!" Kamala said as she grew her hand for a literal thumbs up. "And you really saved the city thanks to that advice." Karen stated. "But it was him that got the credit." Kara stated. "But what you did was right,"Gwen said. "And besides, it's not all that bad." Kamala said. "Look!" she points out to Mj coming with her microphone while Ethan was holding her camera. "Excuse me, Mary Jane Watson of the Daily Bugle here, and I have a few questions to ask you." MJ asked. "Ask away MJ," Superman said. Mj then askes, "Even though you have saved the city, how do you feel…" Superman was about to answer that by saying, "well MJ it's all simple that…" but then MJ finished the question she was asking. "That the Avengers saved the whole universe from the incoming Kree invasion led by the tyrannical Ronan the accuser?" Then Ethan showed the footage of them defeating the Kree invasion. "What?!" Superman was shocked by this. "I saved the world, and they get to save the universe?" Superman said that while looking at the footage which made him blush in embarrassment while the crowd, except for Lois, was laughing. MJ turned her head towards the camera and said, "Well you have it hear folks, after hearing from the Avengers achievement from today, Superman, the man of steel and Metropolis's #1 hero has…no comment, This is Mary Jane Watson, Signing off." Then Ethan turned the Camera off while they walked away from the crowd.
Kara chuckled at Superman's embarrassment. "Anyway, you choose the greater good over glory. You should be proud." Diana said. "Thanks, Diana. I learned a very valuable lesson. Always bring your own camera." Kara declared which made Diana groan. "Kara!" Gwen said in a disappointed look. Kara got nervous and said, "I mean, I need to listen more to what others have to say?" Kara said. "That's better." Gwen said, then they all laughed at Kara while blushing in embarrassment. 'Wow, Superman and Kara really do get along!' Kamala thought to herself.
Meanwhile in Georgia in the largest aquarium one is a Latin american girl with brown straight hair and brown eyes, she appears to wear an american styled hoodie and shoes, black denim shorts, and red lipstick. She appears to be next to a girl which she was blushing a little but was a little shy to talk to, but she was about to until the girl got up to see her friends. The girl felt bummed out because she missed her chance but gruffed about to make sure she wouldn't care, until Taylor and Cindy came in right behind her, which she noticed from the reflection of the glass as she turned around with a confused look.
I thought it would be funny if Superman has a small rivalry with the avengers because the Avengers in this story are more popular than him, and it would also be funny to give Superman (DCSHG2019) his own medicine.
