As Thomas and Gabriel ventured into the abandoned building, their senses on high alert, they knew that they were walking into a potential trap. The air was thick with a sense of foreboding, the silence broken only by the sound of their footsteps echoing off the dilapidated walls.

Suddenly, the stillness was shattered by the sharp crack of gunfire, bullets whizzing past them with deadly accuracy. Instinctively, Thomas and Gabriel dove for cover, their hearts pounding in their chests as they sought refuge from the onslaught.

Adrenaline coursing through their veins, they exchanged a fleeting glance, their eyes filled with determination as they prepared to face their unseen assailant. With practiced precision, they returned fire, their shots ringing out in the darkness as they sought to gain the upper hand.

But their attacker was cunning, their movements swift and elusive as they darted between the shadows, evading capture with ease. With each passing moment, the tension in the air grew thicker, the stakes higher than ever before.

For Thomas and Gabriel, this was more than just a battle for survival—it was a fight for truth and justice in a world consumed by darkness. And as they braced themselves for the next onslaught, they knew that they would stop at nothing to uncover the secrets hidden within the walls of the abandoned building, no matter the cost.

As Gabriel chased after the killer, his determination burning bright within him, he pushed himself to the limits of his physical abilities, his footsteps echoing through the empty corridors of the abandoned building. But in his single-minded pursuit, he inadvertently left Thomas behind, his partner struggling to keep up with the relentless pace.

Finally catching up to the killer, Gabriel found himself face to face with his quarry, the tension crackling in the air between them as they squared off in the dimly lit hallway. With a fierce determination in his eyes, Gabriel launched himself at the killer, his fists flying as he fought with all his strength and skill.

But the killer was a formidable adversary, his movements swift and precise as he countered Gabriel's every move with deadly accuracy. In a matter of moments, Gabriel found himself overpowered, his strength waning as the killer gained the upper hand.

With a gun trained on him, Gabriel braced himself for the inevitable, his heart pounding in his chest as he stared down the barrel of death. But to his astonishment, the killer hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his features as he wavered in his resolve.

And then, inexplicably, the killer spared Gabriel's life, lowering his weapon and disappearing into the darkness without a word. Left shaken and bewildered by the encounter, Gabriel could only watch in stunned silence as his assailant vanished from sight, leaving behind more questions than answers.

As Gabriel struggled to make sense of what had just transpired, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the killer's actions than met the eye. And as he searched for clues amidst the wreckage of their confrontation, he vowed to uncover the truth behind the killer's motives, no matter the cost. For Gabriel knew that the answers he sought lay hidden in the shadows, waiting to be brought into the light.

As Thomas stumbled upon Gabriel, his heart sank at the sight before him. Gabriel lay battered and bruised, his body battered from the vicious encounter with the killer. Rushing to his partner's side, Thomas felt a surge of concern and worry wash over him as he knelt down beside him.

"Gabe, are you okay?" Thomas asked, his voice laced with concern as he gently checked Gabriel for injuries.

Gabriel grimaced in pain, but managed to nod weakly in response. "I've been better," he admitted, his voice strained with the effort.

Carefully helping Gabriel to his feet, Thomas offered him a supportive arm to lean on as they made their way out of the abandoned building. With each step, Thomas couldn't shake the feeling of guilt gnawing at him. He had let Gabriel down, allowing him to face the killer alone, and now his partner was paying the price for his mistake.

"I'm sorry, Gabe," Thomas said quietly, his voice heavy with regret. "I should have been there for you. I won't let this happen again."

Gabriel offered him a weak smile, his eyes filled with understanding. "It's not your fault, Thomas," he replied, his voice filled with reassurance. "We'll get through this together."

And as they made their way back to safety, Thomas vowed to do whatever it took to protect his partner, to make sure that Gabriel never had to face danger alone again.

As Gabriel and Thomas cautiously navigated the dimly lit corridors of the abandoned building, their senses heightened with anticipation, they stumbled upon the killer's clandestine hideout. To their astonishment, the perpetrator was none other than Jacob Wittebane—a man deeply entwined with the dark underbelly of the Salem Society, yet fiercely opposed to their heinous machinations.

It soon became clear that Wittebane's gruesome acts were not random but carefully calculated strikes against those who had contributed to the Salem Society's malevolent cause. Each victim had unknowingly funded the society's vile endeavors, unwittingly perpetuating its monstrous practices.

Delving deeper into Wittebane's troubled past, Gabriel and Thomas unearthed a chilling truth—Wittebane himself was a product of the Salem Society's insidious influence. Born to a former witch of the Coven of the Damned, Wittebane had been groomed from a young age to embrace the society's depraved ideology. Tragically, his mother met a gruesome fate at the hands of her own brethren, sealing Wittebane's descent into darkness.

Gabriel's discovery sent a shiver down his spine as he examined the familiar symbol adorning Kayla's necklace—a grim reminder of the darkness that had engulfed her. Could it be that Jacob Wittebane, driven by desperation to protect his sinister agenda, had silenced Kayla to prevent her from unraveling his plans?

The pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place as Gabriel connected the dots, his mind racing with the implications of Wittebane's actions. If Kayla had stumbled upon damning evidence of Wittebane's machinations, she posed a significant threat to his clandestine operations. And in his twisted logic, her silence became a necessity—a grim sacrifice to preserve the secrecy of his sinister designs.

Thomas found a written manifesto made by Jacob Wittebane which says the following:

"In the depths of my despair, I found solace in the teachings of the Salem Society. They offered me refuge after the tragic loss of my mother, promising to fill the void in my heart with purpose and power. Their doctrines, shrouded in darkness and secrecy, spoke to my disillusioned soul, guiding me down a path of forbidden knowledge and forbidden rituals.

I immersed myself in their teachings, embracing their nihilistic worldview that rejected the constraints of morality and conventional religion. In their eyes, there was no good or evil, only power and the pursuit of one's desires. They taught me to see the world through a different lens, to embrace the darkness within myself and harness it as a source of strength.

But it was through my art that I truly connected with the Grey King. In the depths of my despair, I poured my soul into my creations, channeling my pain and anger into twisted works of art that reflected the darkness within me. It was then that I felt his presence, whispering to me in the shadows, promising me power beyond my wildest dreams.

I was chosen by the Grey King, singled out from among the masses to serve as his vessel in the mortal realm. He spoke to me in visions and dreams, urging me to carry out his will and unleash his wrath upon the world. And so, I embraced my destiny, forsaking the teachings of the Salem Society and embracing the darkness that dwelled within me.

Now, as I stand on the precipice of greatness, I am filled with a sense of purpose and clarity. The Grey King has chosen me as his instrument of destruction, and I will not falter in my duty. I will unleash his fury upon the world, ushering in a new era of darkness and chaos. For in the end, only the worthy will survive, and I intend to be among them."

After reviewing the manifesto, Thomas immediately called for backup to investigate Wittebane's headquarters and gather more evidence. Gabriel then examined Wittebane's drawings, while most of them are made of black ink, there some that are made from his own blood, which even disturbed Thomas.

Not long after that, Thomas received the urgent call from the station regarding Officer Mackenzie's abduction, Gabriel immediately suspected Yelena's involvement. Fearing the worst, he resolved to confront her before she could carry out any reckless actions. Thomas, sensing the urgency of the situation, swiftly joined Gabriel in their quest to intercept Yelena and prevent further harm.

After they arrived at the Knights of Columbus Building's rooftop, she revealed shocking information about Maya's interrogation by Duncan Prior, the leader of the Salem society. Maya's involvement with Jones led to her being targeted, and Yelena disclosed that Jones drunkenly confessed to his ties with the Salem society, implicating Dubois and Scully in covering up their crimes. Fearing exposure, Jones silenced Maya permanently. The gravity of these revelations weighed heavily on Thomas and Gabriel as they grappled with the implications of the Salem society's influence and the lengths to which its members would go to protect their secrets.

During the interrogation, Thomas probed Mackenzie about Prior's involvement, suspecting that he was working for them. However, Mackenzie dropped a bombshell, revealing that they actually worked for the Salem Society. He disclosed that when the Salem Society was founded, they required resources to expand their influence. In exchange for their cooperation, they assisted Jones in his election campaign and had individuals like Lieutenant Dubois and Matthew Scully on their payroll. Mackenzie went even further, stating that Prior had been the secret mayor for years, exposing the extent of the society's clandestine control over the city.

Yelena, fueled by rage and desperation, resolved to enact her own brand of justice by killing Prior and Mackenzie. However, Gabriel, refusing to succumb to the same violent impulses, attempted to talk her down from the edge. Despite his efforts, Yelena's resolve remained unyielding. In a swift and decisive move, she kicked Mackenzie off the roof, intent on delivering her own form of punishment. Gabriel and Thomas, however, intervened just in time to save Mackenzie from a deadly fate, leaving Yelena to escape into the night.
