Volume 5-29: Battle for Haven (Part 4)
Under the academy Raven and Neo were in mist of battling Coco as the raging maiden sliced and hacked at them but to no avail as they were trying to dodge her attacks. Neo backflipped over Coco kicking her in the back of head but Coco retaliated by grabbing Neo's leg and slamming her to the ground but that left her open for Raven to attack her slashing at her aura.
What they didn't know was that their battle was causing their surroundings to shake but they were too focused on fighting to not even notice. Coco summoned two blades and began to attack her prey.
"You fool! What makes you think what you do will make a difference!? All will bow to our queen and you will do nothing but burn!" Coco shouted raising her weapons to strike but Raven and Neo moved out of the way and just as Coco slammed her weapons on the ground in created a shockwave that knocked the two back as they braced themselves.
"How is she still going? It's like she's got unlimited endurance or something." Neo signed.
"Yeah, I know what you mean." Raven replied.
"When my queen revived me, she restored me to how I used to be. I can outlast the both of you with ease. I can just take my time fight you and then you'll just get all tuckered out. Then I'll kill you both! How fun is it!?" Coco laughed manically as she charged at the two again a wicked look in her eyes.
Meanwhile above ground the Pepper and Mercury were pushed back toward inside the academy as they both were trying hard to take him down.
"Dang it's like this dude is built like a tank or something. Nothing is slowing him down." Mercury added.
"Yeah. Not even my semblance has any effect on him. He's just too big." Pepper said.
"I warned you. This isn't a battle that you can win." Hazel replied as they prepared for another fight with him.
"Oh, we'll win. Don't underestimate us." Pepper stated as the two charged at Hazel the two flanked him with Pepper charging on his right and Mercury went to the left.
Pepper got close enough to punch him while Mercury tried to kick him but Hazel blocked them both grabbing Peppers arm and Mercury's leg and easily and effortlessly tossed the two of them aside as they landed not far from him.
"Okay... you got a plan B." Mercury groaned getting up from being tossed around.
"Working on it." Pepper added.
Hazel began walking toward the two but he took out two red dust crystals and stabbed them into his arms. The crystals glowed as red veins started being visible on his arms.
"Did he just... inject himself with dust or something?" Pepper asked.
"Yeah... the guy can't feel pain." Mercury stated.
"Well, that's just great." Pepper said getting up into another fighting stance alongside him.
"I'll make this quick and painless for you." Hazel simply said.
"Incoming!" Nora's voice shouted as she came flying in her hammer high above her head and she swung hard hitting Hazels side with surprising enough force to knock him back.
"Nora! I thought you and Velvet were watching the tower." Pepper said.
"Oh. Our back up got it covered." Nora replied.
"Backup?" Pepper asked.
"Yeah. Blake and Iona brought an army of their own." Nora stated.
Pepper wide eyed hearing her teammates name "Wait a minute. Iona's here. Where is she?" She asked.
"She'll be here along with Blake." Nora said but not before looking at the person she just attacked getting up from the hit she gave him.
"Guess you still got more to spare huh." Nora said readying her weapon to swing again.
"Careful Nora. This guy can't feel pain so it'll be just as hard to take him down." Pepper replied.
Nora looked at her with a surprise look "W-Wait! Seriously! That's no fun at all if they can't feel it!" Nora shouted.
"Enough of this. You kids cannot stop... what's... coming..." Hazel said seeming to space out a moment as he looked in the direction of Oscar fighting against Lionheart but it was the way he was fighting that it made him remember something or more like someone that he had an unrivaled rage toward. The way the boy fought reminded him of someone that took everything away from him and he had found him.
"OZPIN!" Hazel roared and charged at the boy completely ignoring the three of them.
"Oscar! Move!" Pepper shouted calling out to the boy. Ozpin noticed this seeing the larger man coming at him and just barely dodged the punch as it became rather explosive when he impacted the wall.
"Hazel! What on earth are you doing!?" Lionheart shouted at the man but he completely ignored him as he looked at the boy.
"YOU! You will pay for what you've done!" Hazel shouted.
"What is he talking about?" Oscar asked from in his mind.
"Hazel Reinhart. Whatever happened to your daughter wasn't my fault? Please you must listen." Ozpin said.
"She wasn't ready for the responsibility! She wasn't ready!" Hazel shouted charging at him. Ozpin easily dodged him using his cane to strike at him fast hitting certain points of his body before hitting him away making Hazel stagger but still on his feet.
"Ozpin, tell me what happened?" Oscar asked.
"Gretchen knew what she was getting into when she wanted to be a huntress." Ozpin replied.
"She didn't need to die the way that she did! You are responsible for this!" Hazel shouted as he swung at Oscar trying to hurt him but Ozpin stepped back dodging each blow.
Lionheart took the advantage and blasted Ozpin with his weapon forcing him to knock it away with his cane.
"Salem has told us about what you're capable of. Shame that you are ruining another person's life. Just another casualty for you." Hazel stated which actually made him flinch slightly at what he said to him as he now had to contend with the both of them.
Meanwhile Senka was using her semblance to attack Tyrian who was getting rather frustrated as he couldn't see his target and kept getting hit from every direction but this time, he was getting wise to Senkas attacks and this time he swung his tail hitting something hard as Senka grunted becoming visible to him.
"Ah there you are. It's impolite to hide from someone! Especially me!" Tyrian shouted as he charged wildly at her. However, something blasted at Tyrians side knocking him away from her.
"You alright." Weiss said with concern as she rushed to her side.
"Yeah. Thanks for the assist." Senka replied.
However, Tyrian got back up and was even more furious but this time at not just one opponent but two now.
"Oh, I'm going to enjoy ripping the two of you apart." Tyrian laughed manically.

Outside Iona and Killa were dealing with Euryale as they both were making sure to keep her busy when Iona felt her maiden powers react like it was trying to tell her something.
"What the? What's going on?" Iona asked herself.
Killa blocked a swiped from Euryale before going over to Iona "Hey! You good?" She asked.
Iona felt like something was pulling her but to where she wasn't sure. She then looked toward the statue of the woman. It was more like something familiar was pulling her.
"Killa, can you keep her busy... I've got something to take back." Iona said as she used her maiden powers to fly above everyone. Doing this Star and Pepper saw her but they couldn't say anything as Iona dove down the hole that was made down toward the vault.
"Was that... Iona?" Star asked.
"Yeah, but she didn't look to happy." Pepper replied.
"That can't be good. We have to go after her." Star said as the two headed after her but not before hearing shouts as Akane got launched by Yatsu and Colby knocked away by Fox.
"You two, okay?" Pepper said checking on Akane.
"They're... stronger than we thought." Akane said a bruise showing on her face.
"Damnit... how did they get this strong?" Colby questioned.
Yatsu and Fox smirked at each as they looked at the two "Well you two want to be next? We're not how we were last time." Fox said.
"And we won't be easily beaten." Yatsu replied pointing his sword at them.
Pepper and Star looked at each other and smirked.
"You take Fox, I'll take the big guy." Pepper said.
"Sounds good to me." Star added as the two charged at their former classmates. Peppers fist collided with Yatsu's sword using it to block her advance before taking a swing at her. She jumped up and actually landed on his sword in which she got close enough to deliver a solid right hook to his face making him stumble backwards. Jumping off his sword she then got up close again and began striking at him as she ignited her weapons small rockets to give her punches an extra boost which knocked him away.
However, it didn't put him down as he got back up again a big smirk on his face.
"That you're best punch. Going to have to hit me harder than that." He said mockingly.
"Oh, you're going to get it." Pepper replied as she charged at him again.
Star and Fox were exchanging blows trying to find a hole in the others defenses but it we becoming rather difficult as for Fox being blind, he was predicting where Star was going to strike as he blocked another strike from her gun breakers as she was keeping pace with him as well.
They collided one more time trying to out power the other "Just make this easier if you just rolled over and die." Fox replied a growl in her voice.
"That's not my style to just give up. If I can still fight then I will fight." Star said as she started pushing him back.
"Oh... and look where that got Cinder. She's dead because she thought she could escape her fate and now she became no use to us. She was better off if she just obeyed our queen." Fox said.
"Cinder chose to fight even if she knew it was a battle she couldn't win. That's what separates you and her. She chose to defy her fate!" Star shouted as her semblance took over growing to her fourth tail and actually shoved Fox back breaking the struggle before charging at his front, placing the barrels of her gun breakers directly at his chest and fired her lightning rounds at him completely stunning him as he fell to the ground.
"And that takes care of you." Star said as she relaxed as her tails reseeded back to one tail. Though it also tired her out as she fell to a knee.
"Okay... now I'm tired." Star said but she knew she couldn't lounge about as there were other fights happening all around them so she forced herself up and went to assist Pepper in dealing with Yatsu.

Down below the battle was still fierce as the two maidens clashed as their powers shook the ground below them. Neo punched the air firing Ember Celica at Coco but she was too fast for her shots as she dodged each one while also blocking Ravens attacks as the two were locked in a heated duel.
"What's the matter old hag? Don't tell my you're getting tired on me." Coco mocked as one of her blows hit Raven hard enough it sent her to the ground.
Neo quickly ran to her to check on her as Raven was already in a knelling position using her sword as leverage.
"I'm good. She's just a bitch to kill." Raven said.
"You should've just given me your power. There is no need to selflessly throw your life away. I can make your death quick and painless." Coco said extending her claws from her grimm arm.
Raven got to her feet and stood at the ready lifting Oum "You... will never have my powers... or the relic." Raven breathed as Neo stood beside her for another fight.
"You're fighting a pointless battle. Just like those other two that I killed. They fought valiantly but it was all for naught. They died pathetic deaths." Coco replied.
That's when it hit Raven at just who she was talking about "So it was you that killed Cinder, and Pyrrha. You must've also killed Ozpin." Raven said.
"Oh, I know that Ozpins body was killed but never his soul. As for the other two... yes, I did kill them. And I do it all over again if I wanted to. Except I would make their deaths much more torturous and painful. Just like what I'm going to do to the two of you." Coco replied as her grimm arm stretched directly toward Raven who prepared to block it. However, something from above hit her grimm arm making it burn to ashes as Coco screamed in pain.
"So... it was you all along." Iona's voice came from above them. Raven looked up and saw Iona her maiden powers active as she floated down landing safely on the ground.
"You're the one... that killed the both of them. You killed Pyrrha!" Iona shouted her anger raising. She raised her weapon toward Coco like she was challenging her.
"You... will not leave here alive! Today I will avenge my friend's death! Even if I have to kill you myself!" Iona shouted.
Coco's arm reformed again as she chuckled "Oh so you think you can kill me. You don't have the guts to do it." Coco said.
"Try me bitch. You'll be surprised." Iona stated as she stared down the other half maiden.
"Iona! Get back! You don't know who you're up against!" Raven shouted but Iona ignored her as she was too focused on Coco. Iona charged at her foe as Coco unsheathed her own blade at ran at her to meet her in the middle their weapons colliding into each other. The two half maidens fought as Iona putting all of her strength into each attack pushing Coco back as she was doing her best to defend each attack but she was secretly allowing herself to get pushed back wanting to fully test her resolve.
"That's it! Use every ounce of strength you have! Show me more!" Coco shouted gleefully before pushing Iona back.
She raised her hand and launched a fireball at the girl but was swiftly met with one of her own creating an explosion in the middle of the arena. Coco took advantage of the smoke the explosion created and jumped at Iona swinging her blade at her. Iona quickly brought up her shield to defend herself blocking the strike hearing it clang against it. This gave her an opportunity to kick Coco in the stomach which made her stumble which left her open to attack striking her quick and fast before slicing off her grimm arm Coco roaring in pain.
Iona then kicked Coco hard enough that it sent her flying a few feet away as she landed hard on the ground. Iona jumped into the air and went to stab her through but Coco rolled out of the way just as the blades came down on her avoiding her just by inches. Her grimm arm completely reformed before she used it to attack her with it stretching her claws at her. Iona raised her shield to block it but instead the claw had a firm hold on it as Iona tried to wrench it off her shield. Coco suddenly launched forward where her arm was and struck Iona hard making her tumble backward but she quickly recovered as she engaged Coco again.
On the side Neo and Raven watched as the two half maidens battle but Raven was coming up with an idea in her mind.
"Neo, I need you to assist her. I'll go get the relic then I my signal run back towards me okay." Raven replied as Neo nodded as she ran to help Iona fend off Coco. Raven only hoped that her plan would work as she approached the vault. Using her maiden power, she touched the vault doors and once she did that the doors opened revealing a grassy field on the other side and something floating in front of her. It was gold with a cyan blue color glow but there was also something mystical about it that drew Raven in. She walked through the door and grabbed the objects handle.
"If I'm correct of who is inside this lamp then..." Raven thought to herself as she took a breath and spoke the name of who was inside it.
=SPIR=
Above ground Blake had joined the battle with Yang against Synin as Blake parred her attack allowing Yang to get in close to stab at her. However, Synin was quicker as she ducked under that strike before following up with a strike of her own to Yangs stomach forcing the blonde back but her semblance absorbed the hit from Synins strike allowing her to advance on Yang.
Quickly recovering Yang just narrowly stopped the swipe from Synin using Hush as a shield opening up the umbrella as it was surprisingly durable. This allowed Blake to jump over Yang with a blade and cleaver in hand brought them both down onto Synin landing a clean hit actually cutting into not only her aura but her skin too as her hit drew blood from Synin's cheek.
Synin dropped back away from the two as she touched the spot where Blake hit her. She saw that it was her own blood that had shed because of these two and that made her very angry.
"Nobody... nobody makes me draw blood!" Synin shouted angrily as she charged at the two. Suddenly the door burst opened as a trail of red rose were left behind but it was Ruby that reappeared in the mist of the roses but she landed rather awkwardly.
"Okay... that's going to sting." Ruby replied rubbing her right shoulder.
"Ruby!" Yang and Blake shouted.
Ruby turned to see her sister and her girlfriend staring at her. Ruby felt warmth go through her body seeing that Blake was alright.
"Oh, you thought you could escape from me!" Euryale shouted as she nearly pounced right on top of Ruby.
"That's my line!" Killa shouted intercepting Euryale as she pounced on her throwing her away from Ruby landing in front of Synin.
"Killa! You're here too! Blake what on earth did you do?" Yang asked.
"Oh, let's just say I brought an army of my own." Blake said.
"Does almost everyone on Menagerie count as an army?" Killa teased a little.
"I've had enough of these stupid brats! I'll kill them all!" Synin shouted.
"Remember the plan Synin. We must capture that girl alive! For our queen!" Euryale stated.
"Screw the fucking plan! I prefer her dead!" Synin shouted angrily.
It didn't take genius of who they were talking about as Blake and Yang got defensively in front of Ruby and Killa standing by them.
"Why!? I'm a threat to you or something!" Ruby shouted.
"You just being alive is a threat to my queen. That is something that cannot be overlooked. However, my queen has interests in you so I'll gladly take you away." Euryale stated.
"Over our dead bodies you will." Yang replied.
"Oh, that's the plan." Euryale replied holding her weapon at the ready as the other three squared off against them. Ruby squeezed Thorn Gear tight in her hands but she was feeling an emotion that she wasn't sure who she could comprehend it. It was a feeling that normal people shouldn't feel when they are upset. Ruby felt this emotion creep up inside her and try to take over. It was anger.
"We'll handle the twin. You two got snake girl over there." Blake said as Ruby and Yang nodded.
"Jaune and the others should be here soon then we can wrap this up." Killa said.
"Good. Let's finish this fast." Yang replied as the four of them engaged their adversaries.
=SPIR=
Outside the academy the faunus of Menagerie were holding off the White Fang to almost a complete stand still. All the while Ghira and Kali were knocking out any of the soldiers that came at them so that they would be handled later. Randvi threw a soldier off her before engaging another soldier that tried to attack but was swiftly defeated.
A battle between Summer, Adam, and Ilia had begun as surprisingly the White Fang leader was holding her own against an expert huntress and her former commander whipping her weapon around trying to hit them.
"This is all your fault! The humans will only continue to subjugate us until we are nothing but ashes in the wind! We need to fight back and conquer them before they do the same thing!" Ilia shouted swinging her weapon again as Adam blocked the tip with his sword his semblance coursing through it.
Summer began shooting her weapon at Ilia but her opponent was skilled enough to block each shot successfully and without wasting time she went to strike Summer as well. Using her own semblance, she turned into white petals to avoid the attack and quickly reappeared next to Adam.
"What your doing is wrong Ilia!? We are no better than the humans! Both sides are capable of this sort of violence! But I've also found out that there are good people that share our values of equality and want to help us but not using violence as a way to do it! You need to wake up Ilia! Let go of this hatred!" Adam shouted back trying to reason with Ilia.
"Why should I listen to you?! You are a traitor to our cause! A traitor to your people! Fine! If that's how it's going to be then I'll continue fighting! I fight until there isn't a breath left in me! I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!" Ilia roared as she charged at Adam as she went to slash at him with her whip sword.
Adam blocked the sword strikes with Blush as she continued to press her advance.
Summer intervened as she swiftly kicked Ilia away from Adam landing a few feet away from them.
"She's gone insane. I don't think she can be reasoned with any longer." Summer added.
"No. She's just hurt. She want's everyone to know her pain about losing something or someone they love the most." Adam replied placing a hand on the hilt of his weapon.
"So, what's the plan?" Summer asked.
"I'll deal with her. I'm sure there is someone inside waiting for you." Adam said pointing toward the academy.
Summer knew just who he was talking about and he was right. Her daughter was more than likely fighting inside the academy right now and she's out here fighting Ilia and her men.
"Go. I've got this covered." Adam simply stated as she nodded at him before running toward the academy. This time she was done running away, she was going to face reunite with her daughter after so long of isolation. However, she can't help but feel her eyes slightly pulse almost like she felt something was dreadfully wrong inside the academy and she was going to find out what it is.
