The Cerulean Gym stood before me, its architectural elegance a testament to the city's aquatic beauty. The news about the original Gym Leader's passing had cast a shadow over the gym, but the Cerulean sisters, still young, were yet to take up the mantle. In their absence, a seasoned senior Gym Trainer was tasked with overseeing challenges of this magnitude.
I sighed in wonder about the capacity of Major 8 gyms to casually raise multiple Indigo conference participants as their Trainers.
I stepped into the gym, the familiar scent of chlorine filling the air. The blue-tinted tiles beneath my feet seemed to resonate with the water-themed challenges that awaited. The senior Gym Trainer, Blake, with a stern expression, welcomed me to the battlefield.
"Archer, right! Let's see if you live up to the hype," he declared, a twinge of excitement in his voice.
The rules were set for a 3v3 battle, and my heart raced with anticipation.
Archer vs Blake
The Cerulean Gym's battlefield- A pool shimmered in sunlight as I faced off against the senior Gym Trainer. The first challenge was a Starmie, a water pokemon with its gem-like core radiating power.
"Eevee, show them the finesse of your moves. Start with Baby Doll Eyes to lower its attack!" I commanded, choosing my Normal-type companion as the lead.
Eevee danced gracefully, casting an enchanting gaze that softened the intensity of Starmie's attacks. The Starmie, affected by the reduced attack, retaliated with a Water Pulse. Eevee, with nimble footwork, dodged the attack effortlessly.
"Keep it up, Eevee! Use Double Team to create illusions and confuse the Starmie!" I instructed, leveraging Eevee's speed and agility.
Eevee multiplied, the illusions dancing around the battlefield. Starmie, struggling to identify the real Eevee, fired off water gun after water gun, each missing its mark.
"Now, Eevee, Quick Attack from the blind spot!" I called out, seizing the moment when Starmie was disoriented by the illusions.
Eevee darted in from an unexpected angle, striking Starmie with a Quick Attack. The surprise move caught Starmie off guard, and it reeled from the impact.
"Baton Pass, Eevee!" I shouted, and with a swift transition, Eevee passed the momentum to Kleavor, who entered the battlefield unnoticed at Starmie's blind spot.
"Fury Cutter, Kleavor!" I commanded, seizing the opportunity created by Eevee's strategic moves.
Kleavor's blades gleamed as it launched a rapid succession of slashes. The Starmie, surprised by Kleavor's sudden appearance, lost its composure, allowing the initial Fury Cutter to land.
But the twist came next – instead of dispersing the Bug energy, it concentrated in Kleavor's blades. The atmosphere crackled with energy as Kleavor unleashed the stored power in a devastating X-Scissor.
The concentrated Bug energy amplified the X-Scissor's impact, overwhelming the Starmie. The blades glowed with intensity as they sliced through the disoriented Starmie, ending the battle in a dazzling display of power.
I then took back Kleavor and sent Slakoth out. Using my Recall chance of match.
The battlefield transformed as the second Pokémon emerged, a formidable Gyarados. Its towering presence and fierce demeanor left an undeniable impact on pool. I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the imposing choice.
"Isn't a Gyarados a bit much?" I remarked, unable to contain my surprise.
The senior Gym Trainer responded casually, "No gym inspector will complain about using him after seeing your Pokémon. Not to mention, it is the duty of the Gym to test the Trainer with equal strength. I am not that cuck Flint whose wife eloped somewhere. I am not depressed with my life to not have the common sense to send the stronger Pokémon to match your Pokémon."
My lips twitched at the senior trainer's audacity. In my mind, I could only say, "Big brother, that is a Gym leader. He is not someone you can insult as you wish."
Nevertheless, I accepted the challenge without further comment. The battle against the mighty Gyarados was set to be a true test of skill and strategy. The water-type powerhouse loomed over the battlefield, ready to unleash its devastating moves.
"Slakoth, let's show them our strength. Begin with Encore!" I commanded, choosing my Normal-type to face the imposing Gyarados.
Slakoth, known for its relaxed demeanor, entered the battle with a surprising burst of energy. It unleashed an Encore, compelling Gyarados into a repetitive use of its Leer move. The Gyarados, caught in the cycle, glared menacingly, its attempts at intimidation falling on deaf ears. Hmm, compared to the Slaking this Gyarados is nothing. I even have the slight suspicion he was captured recently.
"Focus punch, Slakoth!" I followed up, capitalizing on Gyarados's repeated Leer.
Gyarados irrtitated by the this Charged a Hydro pump but Slakoth's Uproar echoed through the arena, disrupting Gyarados's focus. The water-type juggernaut roared in response, but Slakoth's relentless assault continued with focus punch.
Finally Blake's voice broke through the anger as Gyrarados dived to water, waiting patiently for Encore to resolve.
"Endure, Slakoth!" I instructed, preparing for the inevitable counterattack.
Gyarados, infuriated by the persistent Uproar, retaliated with a powerful Hydro Pump. Slakoth, however, endured the attack, displaying remarkable resilience known for his species line.
I then asked it to use , "Counter now. "
Slakoth used the stored power on the Gyarados making it go unconscious.
As the battle concluded, I instructed Slakoth to use Rest, a move it learned with genuine interest and passion. It showcased Slakoth's talent, rivaling Electabuzz, a move it had been using for years.
The battlefield shifted once again as Blake sent out his next Pokémon, a Lapras. The serene yet powerful Ice/Water-type emerged, creating ripples on the gym's pool. Lapras' presence with his powerful sending out "Sing", added a new layer of challenge to the Slakoth. But he held strong.
"Slakoth, you've shown remarkable resilience. Encore!" I commanded, sticking to the strategy that had proven effective so far. Slakoth, with a burst of energy, initiated the Encore, compelling Lapras into a repetitive use of its Sing move.
Lapras, caught in the cycle, attempted to lull Slakoth into a slumber with its soothing melody. However, Slakoth's focus remained unbroken as it endured the lulling effects.
As the cycle continued, something extraordinary happened. Slakoth, bathed in the experience gained from the intense battles, underwent a transformation. The evolution was a testament to its determination and the challenges it had overcome. In the blink of an eye, Slakoth evolved into Vigoroth, shedding its laid-back demeanor for a more energetic and dynamic form.
"Vigoroth, let's continue the Encore strategy!" I exclaimed, eager to see how this evolution would impact the battle. Vigoroth, now faster and more agile, maintained the Encore, keeping Lapras trapped in a loop.
However, Lapras had had enough. Breaking free from the Encore with a burst of energy, it charged a Hydro Pump, aiming to end the relentless assault. Vigoroth, on its last legs, braced itself for the incoming attack, enduring the powerful Hydro Pump with unwavering determination.
As the water settled, Vigoroth stood, battered but not defeated. The evolution had granted it newfound strength and resilience. Seizing the moment, I called out, "Reversal, Vigoroth!"
In a display of sheer determination, Vigoroth unleashed its newly learned move, Reversal. The move, tailored for situations when a Pokémon is on its last legs, harnessed Vigoroth's remaining strength. The powerful counterattack sent Lapras flying, catching both Blake and Lapras off guard.
The relentless battles had certainly taken a toll on Vigoroth, and its valiant efforts ended in unconsciousness. Acknowledging its role in the preceding skirmishes, I recalled it, preparing to face the next challenge.
In its stead, I chose to send out Eevee once again, confident in its ability to execute the successful strategy against the battered Lapras. Eevee, true to its finesse, initiated the Encore, aiming to trap Lapras in a repetitive use of its Sing move.
I was lucky Evee learned it out of curiosity. Both Evee and Slakoth reminded me again that pokemon have their own moves.
In a surprising turn of events, this Lapras proved to be on a different level. It effortlessly broke free from the Encore, signaling a shift in the dynamics of the battle. With swift precision, Lapras initiated a powerful Whirlpool, creating a vortex that added an extra layer of complexity to the battlefield.
Adapting to the new challenge, Eevee showcased its agility, gracefully leaping from one floating pad to another. In a seamless transition, it executed a Baton Pass, passing the momentum to Kleavor. The Rock/Bug-type Pokémon emerged, blades gleaming as it prepared to strike with an X-Scissor.
However, Lapras wasn't one to be underestimated. With remarkable speed, it retaliated, unleashing a potent Hydro Pump that struck with overwhelming force. Kleavor valiantly executed the X-Scissor, but the Hydro Pump proved too formidable, ultimately taking Kleavor down with it.
But the Battle ended with my Evee jumping up and down.
Fresh from his victory at the Cascade Gym, Archer finds himself not only celebrating the acquisition of the Cascade Badge but also unexpectedly stumbling upon a new opportunity. Blake, the senior Gym Trainer, graciously hands over the Cascade Badge with a sincere "Congratulations," despite his defeat.
Then again he was refrained from using his full team during the battle. So, winning or losing wasn't a concern for him.
I soon saw him bringing the papers for Video share to media. I was happy at this sight, since I thought I lost an income without gym leader existing currently.
I happily signed the papers, I even saw Blake had a share since he is the participant of video too.
No wonder, Gym trainer is sought after. Just this is a huge income for average trainer, not to mention the other benefits like Training regime, Pokemon Storage and personal Breeder. Of course, the condition being a water type Specialist.
