DISCLAIMER
I've always loved the ending of Girl's last tour. Heck, it may be my favourite ending out of all Anime/Manga.
However, I've also always wanted a happy ending for our special two potatoes.
And that's how this Fanfic was born. It's basically a complete opposite of the story of GLT, where instead of going up, they go down. It will also feature an episodic slice-of-life like format, similar to Girl's Last Tour. (MAYBE)
It is not a continuation from where the Manga ended, as it starts after chapter 1 of the Manga. I would recommend listening to the anime's soundtrack while reading to improve your experience.
This may contain spoilers for the Manga/Anime, especially later on, so watch out for that!
Anyway, sorry for wasting your time, onto the fanfic!

PILOT
The bright orange and yellow lights signalling the start of a new day danced along the white snow covering the once bustling and promising world, now barren.
But against the odds, two very good friends and an old war vehicle lived on, in this dead landscape.
...
Yuuri had (Regrettably) woken from her deep slumber to the soft, comforting vibrations and sounds of their Kettenkrad. She yawned, and rubbed her eyes.
"Chi~.. What time is it?" she slurred.
Another yawn came from the front of the vehicle. "Oh good, you're finally up."
The vehicle came to a lurching halt, and its driver stepped out.
"We're running low on food, not to mention fuel as well. So get up, and help me search."
Yuuri yawned again, pulling her blankets over her head.
"Buuuuuhhhhhh… Can't I just sleep for 5 more minutes, Chi-chan~..."
Chito grabbed the nearest metal pipe she could find, and slammed it directly onto Yuuri's head.
"b-WAAAAH!"
...
After about 10 more minutes of this abuse, Yuuri finally stepped out of the small, tank-like vehicle. She gazed at the frozen wasteland around them. Empty, except for the few broken down machines of war, and destroyed shelters.
"Doesn't seem to be anything out here…" Yuuri mumbled.
"Follow me." Chito said, handing the still half-asleep Yuuri her rifle.
They walked over to quite a large, metallic tank, covered in snow. Chito started to climb to the top, where she found a hatch, dusted the snow off, and dropped inside.
Yuuri sat outside. Chito told her to guard. She wasn't sure from what, though. It had been years since they had seen another fellow human. Sometimes she wondered if they were the last people left on Earth. She wouldn't mind though. She liked Chito.
After a while of "Standing guard", Yuuri's aforementioned companion finally exited the vehicle, carrying in one hand what seemed to be some rations, and in the other a fuel canister, and descended down next to her.
"Seems like my hunch was right, and there were still some rations and fuel left in that old thing. This food should last us for around 3-4 days, give or ta-" As Chito was finishing up her sentence, she was suddenly tackled to the ground by her blonde companion.
At first, she was bewildered. Then she started to laugh. And laugh. Yuuri joined in as well.
There they lay, perhaps the last two humans left in the war-torn, god-forsaken land they found themselves in.
But at least they had each other, they both thought.

There's chapter one done. Very short, I know. I usually make the first chapters of fanfics I write short, so readers can check out my writing style and see if they like it before reading on. Expect chapters to be up to 6 times the size of this one. Anyway, I hope you liked reading this first chapter, because more is coming!
