"How do you think Tiff's first day at her new school went?" asked Kim while setting the dinner table in her and Mae's new home.

"I'm sure she had a lot of fun," said Mae who was cooking.

"After all, she's the kind of kid who adapts quickly to change," she said.

"Yeah, but a whole new school far from your old friends can't be easy," said Kim. The sound of the front door opening cut the conversation short.

"Momma, mom, I'm home, and I brought a new friend with me," said Tiff.

"That's great sweetheart," said Mae as she turned to see her daughter walking into the kitchen with a girl wearing black and purple clothes and a spiked collar around her neck.

"This is Emma, we were paired up for a history report," said Tiff.

"Hey," said Emma with a slight wave. Her hair was black with white spots and the irises of her eyes were blood red thanks to what Kim and Mae believed to be contacts.

"Nice to meet you, Emma," said Kim.

"Will you be staying for dinner?" asked Mae.

"Probably, we have a lot to do for the report," said Emma who looked a little surprised by how the two were talking to her.

"Hope you don't mind eating steak then; Tiff, next time you are bringing someone over make sure to call us so we can make sure to make something they will like for dinner," said Mae.

"Sorry, I didn't think about that," said Tiff.

"I'm alright with meat, I don't have any dietary restrictions either," said Emma.

"Good to know, it'll be a little longer so go ahead and get a start on your work, we'll call you down when everything is done," said Kim.

"Your moms are cool, most parents freak out when they see me," said Emma as she followed Tiff up to her room.

"They just know better than to judge others who they just met," said Tiff.

"Must be nice," thought Emma.
