Day 110, 9:23 AM

Car Dealership

After the first two locations on the map were a total bust, there was only one car dealership that Kaminari and Kodai could go to. The first two locations were overwhelmed with zombies and whenever they came across a car off-road, it was scraped by some other survivor. The car dealership was on the edge of the city where the forest met the metro area. Kaminari parks his bike near a tree and takes cover behind a log. Kodai leaves the jerry can with the bike as she meets with Kaminari.

The car dealership is standing tall, looking weathered down from rain and signs that it was starting to become overgrown. No zombies were in sight, as well as more than half the cars that were originally on display before the outbreak hit. The cars left behind were clearly in no condition to be driving. Some of the cars had the hoods propped open while others had been broken into or totaled completely.

Kaminari groans. "Man, how are we going to find a car in good condition?"

Kodai looks around. "There's probably a car in the back."

"But, what if there are zombies in the back?"

"Guts."

Kaminari shivers. "Ew, guts. I don't want to be gross with zombie guts."

"Then get eaten."

He groans again. "Man, I really like this jacket."

Kaminari and Kodai quickly move towards the dealership, crouching while staying as quiet as possible. When they make it to the fence keeping them out, they carefully climb to the top and over. Landing on their feet, they hide behind a rusted car and open the driver's door. No keys and based on the gas tank cover being open, the car was out of gas.

"Don't forget, we need to get gas."

Kodai nods.

They begin moving across the courtyard of cars on display and check each one to make sure no stone goes unturned. They come across one car and open the trunk to find nothing inside. Nothing but two sheets of blanket that they quickly take out. Kaminari gets down upon hearing the sound of two walkers in the opposite direction. Taking cover behind a red car, they peek up to see two zombie police officers stumbling aimlessly.

They pull out their knives.

"Let's do this," Kaminari urges. The size girl nods.

Kodai taps her hand against the car, attracting the walkers' attention. Kaminari moves to cover behind a neighboring car and sneaks up behind the first police officer walker. He tackles it and stabs it in the back of the skull, putting it down.

The second police officer walker turns and lunges for Kaminari, only for the size girl to stab her in the brain. With both zombies down, they roll the zombies on their side before taking out the knives.

"Whoa, look at this." Kaminari reaches for the zombie's holster and pulls out a handgun. It was a Nambu Model 60 revolver with all cylinders loaded. "Check this out. We could use these." He reaches into the dead officer's pouch to pull out six more bullets. Kodai takes the revolver and bullets from her dead zombie before retrieving both guns and bullets and shrinking them to fit in her jacket.

Now that they were armed, Kodai tossed Kaminari a knife.

"Is this how it's done?" Kaminari asks. He cuts into the corpse like a cake before pulling ripping a hole in the blanket for him to wear like a raincoat.

"Yes." Kodai cuts a hole in her blanket too before cutting into the zombies.

Kodai takes out a pair of latex gloves she brought with them and uses them to scoop up zombie guts. After wearing their makeshift coats, they cover the blankets with zombie guts, smearing intestines, gallbladers, and even remnants of a womb on their protective covering.

"Gross," Kaminari cringes, even with latex gloves on.

"Think happy thoughts."

"Okay. Puppies, kittens, leprechauns with hair as gold as gold... okay."

Standing up, the two UA students stagger forward, mimicking the movement of zombies. Doing 360-degree scans, they find no other zombies in sight before limping into the main building. The front of the building has a glass door and several big windows. When they open the door, the bell above them rings, nearly scaring the life out of them.

"What's the plan?"

Kodai looks behind the counter. "Keys."

"Oh, I get it: we look for keys left behind. We use those keys to start cars up. But... how are we going to find which car the keys go with?"

Kodai kneels behind the counter to see a filing cabinet. She pries open the cabinet with her knife and pulls out several manilla folders. Opening the first manilla folder, she sees pictures of several cars this dealership must've had in store. She also felt a big lump in the back of the folder, which turned out to be a key. Finding the key the picture was attached to, she finds a red Altima with a license plate number. Remembering the license plate in her head, she tells the electric boy to stay here while she goes outside.

"Alone again." Kaminari walks forward and heads to the break room to see if he can scavenge anything. Finding the break room to be empty of food and supplies, he heads to the rec room to find something. All he finds in the rec room is a bunch of games like pool, air hockey, and table tennis. The fridge in the back is empty of all foods but the pool balls remain sitting on the pool table. Taking a stick and all fifteen pool balls, he stuffs them into a bag he finds under the cabinet before reuniting with Kodai.

"I found the car with the license plate," Kodai answers. "The key goes with the car but the battery was dead."

"Oh, then I can use my quirk to charge it up."

"Good."

Kaminari sets the bag of pool balls and sticks aside as he follows Kodai outside. He pops the hood of the red Altima and looks at the battery. There were jumper cables in the trunk so that was one miracle on their side.

Hooking himself to the car, he charges the car battery as quickly as possible. After waiting about five minutes, Kodai inserts the key in the ignition. The car starts up, brightening the electric boy and size girl's day.

"Yes," Kaminari smiles, the jumper cables hooked to his forearms. "We did it."

Kodai puts the car in reverse and drives as slow as a snail. After driving in reverse for about three minutes, she turns off the car.

"The wheels survived."

Kaminari looks at the wheels. "Man, these are some durable wheels." He loads the jumper cables into the trunk.

"Low on gas though," Kodai mentions.

"We'll head to the gas station after this."

Kaminari quickly runs back inside to retrieve the pool table equipment before loading it in the trunk of the red Altima. Kodai shrinks the car and loads it into her inner jacket pocket.

"Okay, now, we just need to find more cars."

"Garage area."

"Right. Let's go."

Kaminari and Kodai go back inside the place to find the garage. Grabbing the rest of the manilla folders, they find a door to the back of the garage and they quickly charge through. And this is when they find plenty of cars to scavenge from.

A maze of cars for them to scavenge.

"Wow, Jirou, look at this," his voice echoes. "This place is big; very big." He spins around. "And I like how my voice echoes."

"Quiet," Kodai orders, "and you called me 'Jirou'."

He lowers the volume. "Sorry."

Kaminari takes two manilla folders and looks over the pictures of the cars. He looks specifically for SUVs or pickup trucks after recalling Bakugou's request. He spots a white van and tries to open the driver's side. Grumbling at being met with only failure, he decides that it's not worth it.

Kodai comes by and shrinks the van.

"I couldn't open the car."

"Parts for Hatsume," Kodai pockets the van.

"Ok, okay." He begins to walk the path between the cars and stops when he finds an SUV with the driver's door slightly ajar. Seeing that the wheels are in good condition, he opens the door and pulls out the wires under the steering wheel. "Watch me hotwire this puppy." He pauses at the sight of almost a dozen wires before him of different colors. "Uh... how do they do it in movies? Uh..." He grabs several wires and rips a few of them. Trying to hotwire the car, he only makes himself sweat nervously as he doesn't make a single spark fly out of the wires. Giving up, he abandons the SUV.

Those movies make hotwiring look so easy. And cool.

Kodai finds another car in good condition with a key to unlock. She turns the keys and the car starts up, much to her surprise. Testing out the wheels by driving around the garage, she sideswipes another car and knocks the right side-view mirror off. She gets out after turning off the car and shrinks it.

"Good condition but low on gas."

Kaminari approaches her. "Nice. We seem to be doing fine so far. How many cars do we have?' Kodai holds up three fingers. "Not too shabby, eh, Kodai. So, since it's kinda quiet in here, what kind of cars do you like, Kodai?"

She looks at him. "Not a lot."

"Yeah, I get what you're saying. But I don't know; I like those black and yellow Camaro. I like Bumblebee from the Transformers movie and we have the same color scheme. I always told my Mom that one day if I was going to get a car, it would be Bumblebee." Kodai continues to say nothing.

It took us about thirty minutes or so but eventually, we found about seven drivable vehicles. All the batteries were very low so that was our next destination. We should've gone straight for the batteries but we collected about four more cars to be scraped for Hatsume. Staying behind for too long was our biggest mistake.

"Alrighty then," Kaminari smiles behind his mask. "Let's go get some car batteries, maybe look around for spare tires, and then we can leave."

Kodai nods.

They were in the northwestern corner of the garage while the exit was in the opposite southeast corner but it was still a hop, skip, and a jump away.

Thud.

Speaking of which, what was that sound? Kaminari and Kodai pause and look around. They turned to the east wall where the sound was coming from.

Thud. Thud.

"Huh, sounds like footsteps," Kaminari comments.

Thud. Thud. Thud! Thud! THUD!

Kaminari gasps. "Get down"

THUD! THUD! THUD!

CRASH!

A hole explodes in the eastern wall of the garage as a ten-foot-tall beast comes charging, growling, and roaring at the top of its lungs. This beast wears boxing shorts that barely cover his private parts with skin peeling back to reveal some muscles. His face, however, lacks any skin or muscle on the front of his face and slightly resembles that of a skeleton with pieces of dark patches sticking to the skull.

Kaminari and Kodai quickly hide behind a red sports car and keep their head down, staying silent. Using the tinted windows, they look up to see the beast about fifty feet away from them but Kodai notices something. She grabs Kaminarin by the shoulder and whispers in his ear.

"The beast is blind."

Kaminari looks through the tinted windows and manages to spot the stationary beast, looking up at the ceiling with its eye sockets missing both eyes. Kaminari was not super smart but based on the claw marks going down his eye area, the beast must've clawed its own eyes out.

Even with this slight comfort, Kaminari still feels his heart pounding in his chest, ready to explode at any second. Kodai, however, remains expressionless... but there is a big difference between expressionless and emotionless.

"Let's go," Kodai urges quietly, "come on."

The door was on the other side of the garage and the beast was blocking their path.

Kaminari and Kodai keep at a crouching level as they move to a neighboring car across from them and duck behind it. The beast growls softly before walking forward. The beast bumps into a car, prompting it to swat at the car and send it flying to the other end of the building. Kaminari and Kodai jump and stay low. Their breathing hitches and they struggle to get it under control but after a few seconds, they remember how to breathe.

The beast walks forward and pushes a van into the wall like a chair. Turning around, the beast sniffs the air and begins walking in the direction of Kaminari and Kodai.

The teens gasp, freezing in place when the beast suddenly freezes. Roaring, the beast charges in their direction. The teens roll out of the way in time as the beast tears through several cars, stopping five feet away from crashing into the wall. The beast swats at the air before freezing and begins sniffing the air once more.

Kodai gestures for Kaminari to follow her as they quickly go to a prone position and crawl under an SUV. Army crawling under the SUV, Kodai bumps her head against a metal bar above her but manages to hold in any gasps. Making it out the other side, Kaminari follows closely behind. They walk carefully across the room before they finally make it to the door. Kodai carefully grabs the handle and twists it. She twists at the same pace as a sloth, not wanting to attract the attention of the beast, even though it is at the opposite end of the garage.

Carefully opening the door, the door shows mercy by not creaking and allowing the two to get through unscathed.

"Oh my god," Kaminari whispers as he closes the door shut, being extra careful to not slam the door shut. Closing the door, Kaminari returns to a standing position and tiptoes toward Kodai. "Holy crap, we almost died," he continues to whisper.

Kodai doesn't say anything but her breath heightens. "Car batteries," she mutters.

"Right, let's get the car batteries and get out of here."

The car batteries are behind the counter. Kodai puts her hands on two random batteries and shrinks them to fit in her jacket. However, as she places them in her jacket, that infamous THUD! THUD! THUD! sound returns.

Kaminari grabs Kodai and yanks her to the side as the beast comes plowing through and tears through the shelf of batteries and the front counter at the same time. The beast slows to a stop half a second before it can crash through the glass window at the front and rotates on its heels.

The beast growls once more and begins sniffing the air.

Kaminari puts his back to the wall while wrapping his arms around Kodai. Both kids silently gasp as the beast takes it first step towards them. Instead fo throwing wild haymakers, the beast simply leans forward and sniffs the air in front of the children.

Sniffing the air hard like a human sniffing a candle to try and figure out its scent, the beast lets out a soft sigh before pulling back and walking away like an uninterested child.

The teens look down, realizing that the scent of the zombie guts on their makeshift raincoat fooled the beast. Holding in a sigh of relief, the teens tiptoe to the front door and pause, remembering the bell that rings whenever it opens.

Kodai looks at the beast standing to the right of them and sees the big window before them. Spotting a piece of debris the size of a baseball on the ground from when the beast rammed through the wall, she bites her lower lip. With her eyes darting between the bell and the window, she carefully picks up the piece of debris and counts to three on her fingers. Kaminari puts his hands on the door's pushable bars and waits.

Kodai chucks the debris at the window, smashing it to pieces. The beast roars like a hungry predator and charges for the window, shattering the neighboring window and bumping into a car. The beast growls and hammers its fists into the roof of the car before him, shrinking the vehicle down to size and generating enough loud noise for the teens to run out the front door. The beast fails to hear the bell ringing, making the kids finally sigh with relief.

"Come on," Kaminari urges. "Let's get out of here."

Instead of running, they continue to tiptoe around the car dealership and keep their eyes on the beast as it ceases to attack the car. Guess that overgrown baby was done playing with its car action figure. The beast turns in the direction of Kaminari and Kodai and sniffs the air, jerking its head in opposite directions like a confused old man.

Kaminari and Kodai make it to the fence and look behind their shoulders. The beast remains stationary and looks in whichever direction its aimless head desires.

"Climb," Kaminari urges. He holds his hands out. "Hurry."

Kodai boosts herself up using Kaminari's hand and leaps to the top of the fence. She quickly jumps over, the fence rattling a bit.

The beast faces their direction but remains stationary.

"Oh god." Kaminari climbs up the fence, making more rattling noises.

The beast roars and sprints for the fence. Kaminari leaps over the fence and lands on his feet. Looking behind him, the beast is five feet away from crashing through the fence. Kaminari somersaults from the beast's projected path and lands on his back. The beast crashes through and halts suddenly, roaring. Spinning around, the beast stomps toward Kaminari.

His mind refuses to comprehend what is happening before him. He quivers his lip against his will and stares at the monster with wide eyes. The beast stomps over him before falling on all fours and holds himself above Kaminari.

Oh no, oh no! I'm gonna die... I'm going to DIE! And I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to Jirou!

The beast growls and leans down and sniffs Kaminari like an unruly puppy.

Without realizing it, Kaminari makes a sound with his mouth that resembles a zombie growl, causing the beast to pause. Sniffing the guts on Kaminari's chest, the beast lets out a soft sigh before standing up. Turning in the opposite direction, the beast walks back into the car dealership to destroy some more cars.

Kaminari lets out a breath he was unknowingly holding and sits up. Looking ahead, he sees Kodai sitting on her ass, holding herself by her elbows, staring off into space with sweat drenching her face.

Kaminari quickly crawls over to her and grabs her hand. "Hey, are you okay?"

Kodai shakes her head. "N-no."

They take one last look at the beast before Kaminari helps Kodai to her feet. "Come on, let's go." He drags Kodai back to his bike where they soon discard their makeshift zombie gut jackets and ride off.

Five Minutes Later

10:23 AM

"Holy shit," Kaminari gasps as he rides off. "I saw death's door... again! Man, I've never been so scared in my life. Those beasts... they're so scary! Right, Kodai?" He gulps. "Kodai?"

Kodai sits on the back of Kaminari's bike, one hand holding the jerry can while the other wraps tightly around his abs.

"Are you okay?"

"No," she finally answers. "I'm not okay."

Kaminari continues to ride before slowing to avoid making a sharp left. If his memory is correct, the gas station should be about 8 kilometers away or so. Just go there, fill up the jerry can, easy peasy lemon squeezy.

"I've never been so scared in my life," Kodai utters. "I was so scared."

"I guess that was your first beast, huh?" Kaminari sighs and eases up on the handles. "I encountered the same beast twice on Day 1 of the apocalypse and it was not fun at all. We were lucky that thing was blind. If it was blind-less then we'd probably be dead." He smiles. "But we're not dead so... that should be cool, right?"

Kodai says nothing and leans forward to bury her face into Kaminari's back. Kaminari squirms at the sensation but doesn't push her away.

When they finally arrive at the gas station from last time, Kaminari grabs the jerry can out of Kodai's hand and fills the can. Finishing up, he puts the nozzle away before he feels something wet drench his back. Hearing the quiet sobs, he realizes that Kodai is crying in the back of his jacket. She hugs him tightly and lets her emotions out.

Yui Kodai, the expressionless girl who barely utters a few words, was crying. She was crying and using me as a back to lean and cry on. At that moment, I thought back to how we all used to be before the zombie apocalypse. Our usual selves. Eccentric, goofy, snarky, rambunctious, ambivalent, all the usual traits we had in the classroom. Seeing Kodai break down and cry like that made me realize that the world was gone. It was gone and there was no going back. One by one, our past selves would be gone as well.

Kaminari reaches with his right hand to pat Kodai on the shoulder. Deciding to cut her some slack, Kaminari holds the heavy jerry can in his left hand as he uses his right hand to rev up the throttle. He rides the bike the rest of the way back with one hand, going slowly so as not to disturb Kodai.

Kodai finally calms down and lets all her tears out about three minutes before they arrive at UA, where the others greet them excitedly.

UA Dorms

10:39 AM

"What part of 'do not get ugly-ass Altimas' did you not understand, dumbass!"

Kaminari holds his hands in surrender, crying tears of panic as Bakugou holds him by the front of his jacket. "I'm sorry; that's just the way things went."

"And of all the colors you had to get, it's red!" A vein protrudes in his temple. "I'll destroy you, sparky."

"Please, have mercy! Please, please don't kill me." Kaminari looks around.

"Guys?"

The students look at the twelve cars that Kodai displays for them in the front yard. They stare in awe as some of them pretend to ride in the car.

"Now this is what I'm talking about," Mineta smiles as he gets into the driver's seat of the red Altima. "Chicks dig the cars."

Kuroiro and Tokoyami stand above a black car. "Nice," the dark-themed brothers smirk and bump hands.

"Reverly in the dark," Tokoyami laughs.

"Long live eternal darkness, my brother," Kuroiro smiles.

"Wow," Jirou smiles as she joins Kaminari. "You got quite the catch, Jamming-Yay. You actually did something worth our time."

Kaminari smiles. He pulls down his mask. "Oh, don't pretend you don't find yourself to be awed by my awesomeness."

Deku heads for the green car. "Wow, these cars are so awesome. We should test these out. Drive them and make sure they're running well. We're also going to need to make several more stops at the gas station." Deku runs up to Kaminari. "Thank you, Kaminari. Was there any trouble?"

Kaminari keeps on smiling as he answers, "Oh, just a beast."

"What?" Komori gasps. "A beast?"

"Yeah," he shrugs. "Why?"

Deku winces. "We should've sent someone with you."

"Damn right," Bakugou agrees.

Deku looks at Bakugou. "Hey, Kacchan, did I hear you right? Are you saying you were concerned for Kaminari's well-being?"

"What, no, idiot! I was just concerned because if he died then we wouldn't have any cars."

Sero appears out of nowhere. "Aww, you care about us."

"No, I don't."

"Aww, this is adorable," Mina laughs. "And here we were thinking you didn't care about anyone. You got a big heart, Kacchan."

"Stop saying adorable things to me!"

The other kids laugh and continue to tease Bakugou before Jirou, Kuroiro, and Komori join the electric boy.

"How are you feeling?" Jirou asks. "Because beasts are..."

"Scary," Kuroiro finishes.

"That's an understatement, shroom." Komori bows her head.

Kaminari smiles. "Hey, they say the third time's the charm yet I survived the third attack."

"Then again, the first two attacks were by the same beast," Jirou points out.

"The hunter beast," Kaminari says. "Katsuya."

"The hunter beast? Is that what you're calling it?"

"That beast was hunting me in the forest and the city so... hunter beast. But don't worry, this beast was blind. Blind as... uh..." his eyes dart around. "Uh... like.. a dog. He was as blind as a seeing-eye dog."

Jirou's jaw drops. "Blind as a seeing-eye dog?"

"Yeah. Because... he couldn't see us. And we were wearing zombie guts so we were camouflaged so his seeing-eyes couldn't see us."

The three friends look at him weirdly.

"We're going to go out a limb and say you never seen a seeing-eye dog before," Kuroiro claims.

"Yeah. But my sister always wanted one."

"A seeing-eye dog?"

"No, a dog."

"Ahh."

Komori looks around. "Where's Kodai?"

Kaminari takes a moment to remember. "Oh, she and Kaibara are upstairs."

"Shouldn't we get here and see if she's okay?"

Kodai was having an emotional breakdown on the bike ride over here. Everybody is happy and if I tell everyone how she really feels, then that would be a huge blow to morale. I don't think it's my place to tell everyone Kodai's feelings so...

"Nah, she's had a long day; she used her quirk a lot to shrink all those cars so we should let her be." Kaminari pauses.

They're probably going to pry so I should probably distract them.

"But I have a lot of stamina still," he says loudly, "I feel like I can take on the world."

Mineta walks up to them. "Kaminari, bro, as a pervert, don't you know when you tell everyone you have a lot of stamina, the audience's mind is going to default to one thought?"

Kaminari laughs. "I know." He frowns. "I gotta learn to work on my wording."

Hatsume comes out and begins scraping the out-of-use cars for parts. Taking some parts from the engine, she begins to carry them back to her room.

Upstairs

"Are you sure about this?" Kaibara asks after Kodai steps out of the cold shower.

"Yes," the girl nods before dropping the towel. "I... I want to do this. I-I want to feel something."

Kaibara removes his shirt. "Okay. Remember, if you're ever uncomfortable, just say 'Mineta' and we'll stop."

"Okay."

Breathlessly, Kodai charges for Kaibra and kisses him deeply on the lips. Kaibara wraps his hands around her back and pulls her in. Breaking away from the kiss, he removes the rest of his clothing before the two of them fall into bed where they share their first time.

Downstairs

"What else do we got?" Bakugou demands.

Kaminari pulls out the two guns he took from the police officers. "Yeah, now we can even the odds against the zombies."

Iida runs and snatches the guns away. "Don't you know that children aren't supposed to wave guns around?!"

"Guns?" Hatsume's head turns at a 180-degree angle and smiles. "Well, isn't this delightful." She zooms toward Iida and snatches the two revolvers away. "Look at these babies." She marvels at the revolvers in her hands and holds them like Rafiki holding Simba. "Guys, may I borrow these for a few days or two? I promise to give them back; I'm just going to make some awesome babies with these guns."

"Where did you find those guns?" Bakugou yells at Kaminari.

"On a couple of dead cops."

"Those guns look dirty and in bad condition. Depending on how long those zombies have been staggering around, these guns could've gone unclean for four months. Not good at all. You don't fire dirty guns and chances are, those guns are useless."

"Have hope, man," Kuroiro urges.

"And why would you guys want guns?" Deku asks. "Won't noise attract zombies?" He pauses. "Wait a second..." He strokes his chin. "Sorry, I just got another idea."

"Save it for later," Kendo says, "right now, we need to get ready. Remember, we're heading to UA."

"That's right," Deku nods. "And when?"

"Tomorrow," Iida answers. "We can't afford to waste any more time. We need food, supplies, and medicine immediately. We'll gas up one of the cars, drive up to the gas station with a bunch of jerry cans, and then we'll head to UA early tomorrow."

"Okay." Kaminari sits up. "So, am I going back to the gas station?"

"No," Bakugou growls, "you already served your purpose so let us go to the gas station."

Kaminari laughs and sinks back into the chair. "Man, I finally get to rest."

"As much as I hate to say it, I'm driving that ugly-ass Altima. Who is going with me?"

"I am," Sero raises his hand.

"So are we," Kirishima and Tetsutestu go next.

"One more." Bakugou looks around for other keepers.

Shoji holds his hands up. "Sure."

"Good. Load up on as many jerry cans as you can in the trunk. Once we get back, we're loading the cars. And then tomorrow, UA."

As the other walks away and begins to plan, Kaminari sits on the couch with Jirou, Kuroiro, and Komori by his side.

"You missed me this morning," Jirou says. "I was going to wave you goodbye but you were already gone."

Kaminari laughs. "Don't worry, Jirou, from now on, whenever Awesomenari goes out on a run without you, he promises not to leave without waving goodbye."

"It's not that I missed you or anything... it's just that I would be... weird to leave without saying goodbye."

"Whatever you say."

Kuroiro and Komori watch the exchange between the electric and sound girl with amusement.
