Chapter 9 Virtual Insanity

Flabbergast, stunned, however you wanna say it, doesn't matter. What does matter is the nuclear bombshell that just got dropped on me! In my planet jumping 'adventure' apparently physics didn't follow! Quantum tunneling is like, one of the biggest issues with modern microelectronics, besides heat venting of course, but I'm getting off track.

Soooo… the laws of physics don't fully apply here, now everything is starting to make more sense in regard to the tech, they aren't really 'more advanced' per say. They just aren't playing by the same rules as we were, easy mode, if you will. The ability to create limitless inventions without the concern for it to stop working due to electricity doing whatever it wants… Crazy.

Oh, right I got to give em an answer, "Well doesn't electricity start behaving differently when the channel starts to get thinner?" "Uhhh… that's never been an issue that I've ran into… Clemont?" Clemont takes a second to think, "Nope! It's never happened to me before!" I just rub the back of my head and feign ignorance, "Oh! I must've got my facts mixed up sorry about that! Hahaha!" damn, first day on campus and I make a fool of myself.

Eclarisse then handed back my phone "Here you are Alex, please come back anytime I'd love to study your phone more!" well that was a fun way to spend my afternoon. After saying my goodbyes to Ash and his companions as well as Eclarisse, I started making my way back to the Pokémon center. 'I'm starting to get a hang of the city's layout, thank Arceus its not that big. Wait, I know it's been like a decade but wasn't Serena with them when they visited the Pokémon academy? Ah well, as long as Clemont catches Shinx it should be fine…' As cool as it would be to imagine myself so important to the timeline that my very existence has delayed Ash meeting Serena, I somehow doubt it. He didn't meet her until after him and his group left Lumiose, it is the school that moved! How convenient for me.

After getting back to my room, I set everything down and lied on the bed, 'You know what? I should let Espurr out for a bit… its probably feeding time now.' I grab the Pokeball and tap the button, out pops the cat in a ball of blue light.

"purr" The cat does a little stretch, guess I woke them up by accident. "Sorry about that Espurr, I was just going to ask you if you're hungry." The cat Pokémon gives me a little nod. Well alright then, I pour the floating fluff a bowl of Pokémon food and he starts chowing down.

Alright… I… am lost eh I'll probably figure it out at some point "oh… cool, well I'm glad you chose me" I mean, I am, a Pokémon chose me of all people.

'I mean if I really wanted to be a narcissist id say its some chosen one thing… wait, am I? Because it definitely wasn't an ultra wormhole no matter how much I try and bs. What the hell do I do if I am? I'm pretty sure everything gets solved by Ash and his buddies'. Ah well, I mean if I am then I'll get pushed along the path, right? No point stressing over destiny.

You know what? This Pokémon centre is pretty nice. The bed is comfy, the staff are friendly, everything is comedically clean… five stars overall. After my musing about Destiny and crap I put Espurr back in their ball. I scanned her with my Pokedex, finally, and found out that psychic wasn't even a move that Espurr knew. She was just free balling with whatever psychic abilities she had in the battle against Skitty.

That's what the Pokedex voice read out, that's what were working with right now. Overall, not too bad. But I'm going to have to train a whole lot if I'm going to be be anywhere near competent in a battle.

Ah well, what to do now? I look over at my trusty dusty backpack. One of the few things that stayed with me after I got dropped here. Alright, let see what we've got here… A notebook, survival supplies and of course, my laptop. I've barely even touched the thing since I got here. I've been so focused on surviving out here I haven't had the time to really indulge on some recreation time. Plugging it into the wall and… the light flickers a bit, I quickly unplug it, yeah if Eclarrise thought my phone was a power sponge she'd have a heart attack if she saw this thing.

Alright… lets see here, no internet so what can I do? Video games? I guess… I mean, should I? should I really waste my battery on that? I literally living in a freakin video game now! Well, anime technically but enough stupid nerd technicalities, I can train a dragon!

What about a document? I mean I've never been a big writer, but it couldn't hurt to chronicle some stuff… nah that's stupid who's gonna read it but me? Like some professor is going to study my work of art in a hundred years, ha!

Alright what's left then? Music and pirated movies I guess… oh yeah tonight's gonna be alright.

Well, that's concerning! I shoot up from my bed and take a look out the window, it was on the arena outside, all I could see was a giant dust cloud. Oh, its just a Pokémon battle, neat. Wonder who it is… and its Ash, of course it is, and he's fighting… no one? Wait, did he send Team Rocket packing or something? Do they actually get launched? How! I mean… whatever. Sure, a couple 20 somethings can survive terminal velocity and electrocution. They probably have brain damage at this point… wait, do they have like, anime world strength? How durable are people here! I've already confirmed that the laws of physics don't really work here so someone being crazy durable isn't off the table… wait am I durable just by being in this world or is it a quality you're born with? I mean Ash gets shocked all the time and walks away so maybe… this is something I probably shouldn't test without proper precautions…
