The King held that cold gaze, now devoid of any bright light, weighing the young man's request.
His soul was more than ever condemned, none of them would ever remember his existence , and if he really was promising him that he would not further interfere with their lives, maybe he could make that little concession. After all, despite having ignored his warnings more than once from him, he couldn't deny that this person didn't have a good heart.
"I hope you realize that from such a decision no one will be able to get you back. Are you sure you don't want to think about it again?".
"No", the answer came direct and immediate, "I have already waited too long to do what I did. I had to and I acted. No second thoughts, neither then nor now".

The young man smiled for the first time since they met again, a sincere and calm smile, relieved of a weight perhaps too great to bear any longer. "Thank you King Kaio. I for my part will keep my promise not to intrude further on their lives." He therefore got up from the table, heading for the door and after having made a brief greeting to those present, disappeared with the same speed with which he had presented himself that day to announce his decision.
