- A Snowy Start -

First POV (Y/N)

- Unknown Time/Date -

~ Location - Snowy Alphines ~

Why does it feel cold...

"Ughhhh..." I moaned as I slowly opened my eyes to see white and gray around me. "What the..." I said as I slowly got up while feeling groggy from what felt like a long sleep. Then I heard a familiar voice.

"Awake now, Y/N?" said Kranus as he levitated above me. "Yeah...feels like I've been asleep for years." I responded back as I took a good look around where I was and for some reason my body didn't feel right but I pushed that feeling down before hearing Kranus answering me.

"You were." Kranus stated and I paused. "What...?" was all I could say.

"You don't remember?" said Kranus as he turned to silence as if he was in thought. "What do you mean I don't remember?" I said as I turned to look at Kranus but he was silence.

"..."I looked at Kranus and was about to press him on but I stopped myself. I'm sure I won't be getting any answers for a time, I take one final look around my surroundings. *Sigh* 'Well, I guess time to find civilization if I find any.' I thought to myself.

I raised one of my hands and power began to gather and as I was about to summon, I felt my strength sapped from my body and a surging pain went throughout my body like it was about to be torn apart. Then I fell on my knee with my body feeling immense pain, canceling my summon.

"What *gasp* the...hell!? *gasp*" I said while sweating and panting. "Hmmm, it appears that my experiment still needs adjustment despite being a success somewhat." said Kranus

'What?' I looked at him demanding an answer to what he did to my body. "I simply transferred your consciousness to a vessel I created. Your real body is still in that sarcophagus." Answered Kranus.

'My real body is in a sarcophagus...? Wait...I feel that I should know why I'm in a sarcophagus but I can't...! Is this related to what Kranus said earlier?' I stood there silently digesting what Kranus told me, all the while trying to remember. "How did you even manage to create a vessel for me?" I ask.

"To create a suitable vessel for you I had to "borrow" something from your equipment from that bottomless bag. Through trial and error I managed to create a subpar vessel for you to inhabit and brought that vessel here with your consciousness in hand." Kranus explained. 'Well that explains how I got here' I thought to myself.

"What did you use to create my body?" I asked a big question. "The Void." Kranus answered

"...!" I looked at him in shock, I didn't expect Kranus to have advanced that far to be able to create things. "With the help of the Divine Master Gate, I utilized the void that the Gate brought through and shaped it into a suitable vessel. Although, there were some unruly moments during the process but they were dealt with accordingly." Kranus answered.

"Hmmmm...but that doesn't explain what happened earlier." I said. "I transferred your consciousness not your soul. So it is within expectation that your new vessel will face backlash of having something foreign entering it." Kranus explained.

"But is it still possible for me to use my power to its fullest?" I asked. "Maybe or maybe not, it's possible that vessel is not up to the caliber of power that you were trying to summon like a newborn baby trying to walk so it is possible if given enough time or it is simply that the body is rejecting your power because it's not your body and secondly it is created with the use of the Void, perhaps the Void and your power can't coexist with each other...yet." Kranus hypothesizes.

"..." I stood there in silence contemplating. 'If it's the former, then I'll just slowly adapt this body till I can fully use power without suffering any negative consequences. However, if it's the latter...then, I'll have to limit myself when it comes to summoning and use my current skill at the moment.' I thought to myself.

"I believe this is yours." said Kranus as he brought out a familiar bag and sphere from a void hole before handing them back to me. I didn't bother asking why he held onto my bag or why he took it with him but I thank him nonetheless. "Well at least I won't be going out into the world with nothing. Thanks." I said and Kranus nodded.

"What will you do now?" asked Kranus. "Well, like what I said earlier I'm going to find any sign of civilization in this mountain range or below them if there is any." I replied.

"Then I wish you luck, Y/N." said Kranus before disappearing from my sight and senses.

I looked on where Kranus disappeared before reaching into my bag and took a small green sphere that transformed into a magical equipment and some winter clothing then I put them on.

"Here I go." I whispered to myself as I took my first step. 'Hopefully, I can find civilization but knowing my luck, fate is going to throw something at my face.' I thought to myself.

Third POV

Much to Y/N's premonition, he was kind of correct, as he walked off, someone was already watching him the moment he mysteriously appeared out of nowhere into their domain. At first, she wanted to help the stranger before her, but what stopped her wasn't him but that "thing" that looms nearby. When the Y/N woke up and she saw him talking with the entity, she instantly became wary, worried that the stranger is something like that entity. But that wariness turned into awed curiosity, when she saw Y/N doing something before failing and falling on his knee in pain. The power he used was similar to her but yet at the same time not causing her to want to investigate him more. Then she saw Y/N talked to the entity once more before the entity completely disappeared and she could feel that entity wasn't here or anywhere in her domain anymore. However, she was still wary of Y/N but for now she will continue to watch him from a distance and perhaps test him? As Y/N walks away, she ponders what to do before silently following him from a distance.

~ Quick Time-skip ~

Y/N has been walking for perhaps a few hours and his search for society is being made worse due to a blizzard that fell upon him. It was strange because earlier, the sky was clear with the sun shining down and then the next the sky was covered by dark clouds with heavy wind and snow becoming a blizzard. But who was Y/N to judge, he was perhaps walking towards a blizzard for all he knows. Regardless, Y/N pushed through the blizzard and was thankful for the sphere that he used otherwise he might've frozen to death. With one of his arms protecting his face from the coming snow and wind, he continued on but the blizzard is getting worse and worse. Y/N is gonna have to find shelter and wait out the rest of the storm. Y/N picked up the pace, when Y/N got to the lower part of the mountain, he spotted what seems to be a cave entrance poking out the side of the mountain and Y/N walked towards it. When Y/N got to the entrance of the cave, Y/N took a breath and pulled out his sword and a sphere that acts as a light source from his bag and readied himself in case there was something hostile within the cave. As Y/N entered the cave, Y/N was in for a surprise.

"Amazing..." Y/N said as he went in deeper to explore more of the beautiful cave he found.

As Y/N explores the cave, he sees many beautiful sceneries the cave has to offer, from long frozen underground rivers to seeing lights shining down into the cave from the holes in the ceiling of the cave. Yet Y/N only explore a portion of the cave to which Y/N had already realize that the cave is much more bigger than he first thought.

"Tilith and Lin would've loved to see this..." Y/N said in a small tone.

Y/N then breathed in and out deeply, letting out any pent up emotion out and turned back to where he came from. Before that he looked back to take in the beautiful scenery once more and headed back. When Y/N got back to the entrance of the cave, the blizzard was still going on, so Y/N decided to settle down and took out resources from his bag to start a fire and some food as well to eat.

'Wait...do I even need food or sleep to begin with?' Y/N thought to himself because his current body is not normal compared to most living beings right now. But such thoughts recedes as Y/N hears something coming, Y/N readied his hand on his sword as the steps came closer and then Y/N sees a feminine figure of ice, snow, and wind.

'...An elemental? Spirit? Or perhaps a god? Whatever she is, I must be ready...' Y/N thought after observing her.

As both Y/N and the spirit stare off each other. Y/N was the first to drop his guard and ask.

First POV (Y/N)

I lowered my guard after that staring contest with spirit. When I concluded that she wasn't hostile.

"What brings you to me?" I asked the spirit. "..." she said nothing as she tilted her head to the side in confusion.

"Wait, you don't understand me?" I asked again to see her confused again before she spoke. "Woh aer yuo?" she said and it was my turn to be confused. Then the realization came to me.

'Great, a language barrier...' I thought to myself. The spirit also came to the same conclusion as me.

An awkward silence fills the air as the spirit and I try to come with some kind of answer to our current predicament. Then the spirit moved forward till she was in front of me. I was curious what she was trying to do and then she raised one of arm and tapped one of her fingers on my forehead. I'm confused at what the spirit did until I felt an intense headache. I held my head in pain till the pain slowly faded away.

"What was that fo-" The spirit interrupts me. "Do you understand me stranger?" she asked and I stopped at the sudden realization that I can understand her.

"Now I do." I said and she nodded. "What brings you to this land stranger?" She asked.

"Well, to sum it all up in one go, I have been asleep for a long time and have recently woken up and have no clue how I got here." I honestly explained but left out Kranus. The spirit stood there silently for a bit and then spoke. "Do you remember anything before you got here?" She asked.

"No, nothing at all." I said. 'Aside from being told that I was stuffed into a sarcophagus' I thought to myself.

"I see...hmmmmm." said the spirit. "May I ask what your name is, stranger?" the spirit asks.

"My name is Klaus, Klaus Fimbulwinter. Well met spirit." I said cordially despite lying about my name, although the spirit doesn't seem fully convinced at the name I told her but she let it go for now. "Likewise, but please call me Kjer-." The spirit abruptly stops mid sentence as she turns her head out towards the cave entrance. From her posture I could tell something was wrong.

"Something bad?" I asked but the spirit didn't respond, instead she rushed out of the cave. "Definitely bad." I said to myself as I followed suit.

The spirit was out speeding me and I'm losing visual of her due to the blizzard. However, I had a feeling that she is leading me in more ways than one.

*Scream*

"...!" I heard a scream that belonged to a child, so I changed my jogging pace to a running pace.

As I pushed through the knee deep snow, I immediately stopped myself when I got to the top of a hill and looked down from afar to see five people, one adolescent girl in her teen, one adolescent boy in his young teen, two young boys, and one young girl cornered by what it seems to be eight or nine gray colored monster like humanoid.

'Judging the distance between me and those monsters, I can make it and get the jump on them in this blizzard.' I thought to myself. 'However...with their number they'll be able to bypass me and go after them...' I watch on with silence as I try to come up with a plan. Then I looked down at my hand then back to the monsters that were closing in.

'Hell to the repercussions.' I finalized my thoughts.

I stood there and let my power swell through me along with an initial backlash. I felt like my body was breaking itself apart but I grit my teeth through the pain. I thought about who to summon because I can't afford to summon someone or something too strong. Otherwise my current body will destroy itself or I risk their lives. As wind and snow swirl around me, I let my power loose.

'Cometh Forth, Zolf the Crystal Wolf!' I yelled inwardly and a red gate appeared, which proceeded to open itself, revealing a giant wolf of fur, ice, and crystal came running through.

Despite a red gate appearing out of nowhere, no one seems to have noticed it. Then I heard Zolf speak to me. "Pack...member...blood." Zolf said with a look of concern at me.

I was confused at what he meant till I tasted something in my mouth that tasted metallic and salty. Then I realized that I was tasting blood. However, I quickly wiped the blood from my mouth and reassured Zolf that I was okay, although Zolf gave me another concerned glance before looking towards the monsters with a growl.

"Let's go, Zolf." I said as I quickly jumped on Zolf's back and with my sword readied.

Zolf quickly jumped off the hill and ran as fast as possible downhill towards our targets.

Spirit(?) POV

I watched 'Klaus' and the fangbeast named Zolf head off to danger to save those children. In truth, this was a test for 'Klaus' for me to learn more about him. Although to be honest, I learned much of his character when we first met in person in that cave. However, to confirm it I have to lead him here. If he hadn't chosen to save those children, I would've done it instead and perhaps banished him from these lands after saving these little ones. But my doubt about 'Klaus' is no longer needed as I watched him and Zolf getting closer to the children and those Tschäggättäs. When 'Klaus' used his power to call upon Zolf, I could feel that his power was similar to that of mine and yet his power felt so ancient and more powerful than mine.

'Perhaps, he's like me but he doesn't feel like me.' So many more questions after one answer.

Third POV

As the Tschäggättäs walked closer, the oldest of the five walked up with her arms stretched out to protect the other children behind her.

"Lyra! What are you doing!?" The older boy yelled to his sister. "..." Silence was she offered.

Lyra stood scared and yet resolute. As she can buy time, she was sure the adults would make it in time to save the others, if not then Lyra prayed that Kjeragandr would protect them. A Tschäggättä took another step closer to her and Lyra stares at its large stature with resignation and resolve. She could hear its snarl and smell its breath on her as it stared at her before placing both of its hands on her shoulder before opening its gaping jaw and was ready to bite her head.

"It's okay, close your eyes..." Lyra heard her brother Ternias trying to soothe the frightened children behind him.

Ternias was gritting his teeth at what was happening before him. He was mad. Not at the Tschäggättäs but at himself. His own uselessness in this situation. All he could do is shield the other from what they were gonna witness. As he watched on, he spotted something in the distance. At first he thought he was seeing things but the silhouette he saw was getting bigger and bigger the closer it got to them. A spark of hope flared in him but he didn't dare to hope and yet he can't help but feel that they were all saved.

As the maw of the Tschäggättä came closer to Lyra's head, she closed her eyes and hoped it would end fast, although in truth it won't. Lyra waited for her painful end. Then something that she didn't know would happen, happened. Something big came crashing in pushing her down.

*Growl*

*Whine*

*Whimper*

*Crack*

"What...?" Lyra was confused as she saw a big fangbeast with the Tschäggättä that was about to eat her in its mouth, dead.

"You okay?" a voice asked Lyra. Lyra looked up to see someone on top of the big fangbeast. "Uhhh...yeah." Lyra answered.

"Good." Y/N nods. "Zolf protect them." Said Y/N as he hopped off of Zolf and walked towards the remaining Tschäggättäs. Zolf drops the dead Tschäggättä in its mouth and pushes Lyra towards the others and stands guard in front of them.

*Growl*

*Shing*

"Come and meet your maker!" Y/N yelled as he drew his sword and took a stance.

*Roar*

With a roar all the Tschäggättäs charge at Y/N.

Here, the story and legend of the Pioneer of Kjeragandr begins and It starts with the misfortunes young ones who would later speak and share their stories of Klaus Fimbulwinter and his mighty companion Zolf, who saved them from the dreaded Tschäggättäs on that fateful day. They would speak how he would lead the refugees who would later found Kjerag to a mountain where the first city of Kjerag was created. The people would name the first city after him, Fimbulwinter. They would speak how he solved the starvation of an early Kjerag and introduce the now popular Buru Fruit. The people of Kjerag would reverently say that Klaus was their goddess's chosen one and so on. As time passes on, more records would be written and spoken by the people of an early Kjerag who would sacredly pass on his story to future generations. Although, some would doubt that such a person would exist. However, most if not all will say otherwise should they visit the first city. There in the mountain of the first city of Kjerag, lies the relics of Klaus Fimbulwinter in a tomb of ice which was said to be created by the goddess herself. It is said that the Goddess, Kjeragandr watches over these relics up till this day. But one question remained and is still being hotly debated amongst the people of Kjerag and those that studies him.

What happened to the Pioneer of Kjeragandr?

For those who don't know Kranus is, in all context Kranus is a antagonist/major character who is a husk that was created by a mad scientist that slowly gain awareness and autonomy for himself and after some significant events, Kranus now is sticking with the MC.
