Author's Note:
Okay, so, I have been having a lot of problems uploading, which was extremely frustrating for me. But I think the issue has been resolved.
Now, I know that all of you have a lot of questions about many things in this story. I am trying to answer them, but I can't answer them all at once so, here's to hoping some of those questions get answered.
Anyway, enjoy the chapter.
The next morning, I woke up and immeddiately went to get dressed. This morning I opted to get dressed in a deep blue and green ombre, flowy dress. It had cold-shoulder, lace angel sleeves, and a flowy split skirt on it.
Once more I added the crown from the first day, and stepped into my shoes, pulling my hair into an elegant twist before changing Cas and heading down to meet Carlisle and Esme downstairs for breakfast, despite wishing to remain in the room, alone.
There was still no sign of Edward's return, which wasn't surprising since I had the distinct feeling that he was staying purposefully away.
I could practically feel his anxiety skyrocketing as time went on. He was near, I could sense that much, but he wasn't going to willingly see me unless it was necessary.
Once we had breakfast, much like the day before, we headed out to sit in the day room, located on the left wing of the castle, to discuss a few things in preparation for the wedding before Esme brought up going to Ocecia again.
Only this time I declined, feeling too anxious to leave Cas behind.
Carlisle urged me to go to Ocecia with Esme the following morning, promising that he would look after Cas until our return. I didn't want to leave, but Esme promised we wouldn't be gone long.
So, I went, albeit, reluctantly. Leaving enough milk for two days for Cas to nurse, while I was gone.
Esme guided me to the portal leading to Ocecia, instructing me on how to get through first.
She handed me a pearl crown with crystal and sapphire leaves to put on. "Put this on." She instructed me.
I glanced at it, "Why?" I asked as she reached up to pull off my crown and replace it with the pearl one.
"Because you are now my daughter, and should look the part." She replied as she pulled her own crown on.
Hers held pearls, rubies and diamonds, it was much bigger than mine, yet hers seemed to represent the dragon realm along with the mermaid realm. Having a trident, which was made of fire, in the middle of it, made entirely of rubies, and pearls gleaming with the light of the room.
"I-I- Are you sure, Esme?" I asked. "I mean, Edward and I - We're not married yet." I added.
She nodded, a small smile spreading on her face, "Of course, i am. Surely you don't think we're oblivious? We both saw the mark on your neck, and on Edward's as he left one the early hours of yesterday. Now, let's go before it get late." She tells me.
Being back in Ocecia after months of not being here felt surreal.
The smell of sea breeze, along with the smells of mint take me back the last time I was here, I was here as a guest to a wedding.
The only thing that diffienciates this time from the last is that now I am here as Esme's daughter, and treated as such. Whereas the last time I was her as a guest for the wedding.
Esme leads us through the marble palace, through the wide hallways which hold framed pictures of their ancestors, before we walk into a large sitting room.
I blink, as I notice the lack of red in this realm, and almost sigh in relief as I see the walls are a cream color, with white crown molding, the floor was made of marble, and was beige with gold mixed into it.
A water enchanted to look like pillars stood in each corner of the room, holding different sea life within it.
As we walked into the room, Triton and Odina stood from their seats.
"Mother, Father." Esme greeted, with a bright smile as she walked toward them.
"Nerissa, what ever are you doing here?" Odina greeted, in surprise as she pulled Esme to her in a hug.
'Nerissa?' I thought confused.
"Es, welcome home." Triton greeted amused as he gave her a gentle hug after Odina released her, scowling at him.
"Father." She says with a bemused expression.
Odina sighed, moving her blonde hair away from her face as she turns to look at me curiously. "Oh, you've brought a guest… a Fae? Why?" She asks, turning to look back at Esme.
"Oh, forgive me for being rude. This is Isabella Of Elysianth. She is Edward's new bride." Esme informs them, motioning for me to step closer.
"A fae?" Triton asks in disbelief.
Esme nods, "They're due to marry in two weeks time." She informs them.
Odina blinks, "I thought we agreed that Edward would be marrying Priscilla of Ucisos?" She asked.
Esme rolled her eyes, "We never agreed, you pushed for the matter, and Priscilla refused to meet with Edward. He doesn't need someone making decisions for him, he can do them on his own accord. Now, do not be giving attitude to Isabella, she is a magnificent young lady, and perfect for my Edward." Esme states in a no-nonsense tone.
"Very well." Odina sighs, before Triton snorts, turning to me. "You've been here before." He states.
I nodded in response, "Of course," I replied, with a head bow.
"No need for that." Triton waved off, "When did you come here?" He asked.
I sighed, before looking at Esme, who nodded in encouragement, "For the wedding, a few months ago." I answered honestly.
Triton hummed, before nodding in response, "You're the young lady that caused problems during the reception. Garrett's younger sister, from Elysianth, am I correct?" He asked.
I nodded, "To be fair, I didn't mean to cause any problems, all I did was refuse to dance with a knight from the Runivior. He was the one who got handsy." I replied.
He nodded, "Hunter has always been known to cause problems. It was just as well that you put him in his place before Edward got involved." He replied with a nod.
I swallowed and looked away, "He has? I thought he married into the Witch Realm? Victoria of Angmar?" I questioned.
Triton nodded, "They wed, but the marriage did not work out. Victoria left him and went to live in Angmar with her parents… she was found in Runivior a few weeks ago. She's alright, but in bad shape." He informs me.
I frowned, "Is she enceinte?" I asked.
Triton and Odina exchanged a look before giving me a slight nod, "Word is that she wasn't killed but she witnessed something very horrid." He finally said.
I nodded as Esme finally cut in, "This is not the time to be discussing this matter, Isabella is here to calm down, you're discussion is only making her more anxious." She states.
Triton nods, "Forgive us, Isabella. We didn't mean to cause you alarm." He tells me.
I shake my head, "No, uh, it's not that… it's just- Victoria is- She is my aunt." I replied looking at Esme.
Triton and Odina exchange alarmed looks, before looking at Esme, who nods in confirmation, "Hold the thought." Triton says, before waving his hand and causing the room shift as the doors slammed closed.
Esme looked at me for permission before turning to look at them, "I can't say much, just that we need to keep this information under wraps. Edward and Isabella will be getting married in two weeks' time. After that we need all the elders to meet, so that we can discuss something that has happened." She tells them when I remain silent.
"But- How is Isabella related to Eliphias and Gwendolyn of Angmar?" Odina asked.
I let out a long breath before looking at them, "My mother is Chay Raven, the youngest daughter of Eliphias and Gwendolyn of Angmar. She is the daughter who disappeared almost five thousand years ago. The one who was thought to be dead" I informed them.
Triton and Odina's jaws fell open as they stared in disbelief.
"We can not let anyone know of this. So, keep it to yourself." Esme says, before pulling me into a hug.
"But- But rumors said that she was killed, by a demon, no less. How is she still alive?" Odina asked.
I shook my head, "I don't know. Rumors have been circulation for some time, but none were true." I replied as they lead us to sit down.
"Triton, this means that the Demon realm attacked Angmar without cause, this could set an all-out war if the realms take sides." Odina whispered.
Triton frowned, "No, we all know that no realm will side with the Demons, this could obliterate their realm for good." He states calmly.
Odina shook her head, "There are different species in every realm, including ours, this could end us all." She argues.
Esme sighs, "We cannot start arguing about this now. We have to keep this under wraps. No one can know about this, not even my sisters." She tells them. "Promise me you won;t say a word to any one. Not until after speaking with the elders." She begs.
Triton and Odina nod, "You have our word." They both said in unison.
I look at them and nod, "Remember that by agreeing to this, your own words bind you. Should you even breathe a word, your life will be forfeit." I say, calmly.
Triton nods, "You have our word, Fae." He responds.
After promising to come back son, Odina leads us to the Haeseamar hot springs.
"Isabella, is it?" Odina asked as we sat in the spring.
"Yes, ma'am." I replied almost immediately.
Odina nodded, moving her long, dark brown hair over her shoulder, "How did my grandson and you meet?" She asked.
I sighed and closed my eyes, as my mind recalled a distant memory of when I found a wounded young man in the fields of Amethysta, while searching for a herbal plant.
The young man was badly injured on his chest, a poisoned arrow having stuck him, but I knew what type of poison was used based on the coloring of the skin around the wound, and swiftly fed him the remedy potion, which I had just brewed before swiftly pulling out the arrow.
I remember the same heat on my palm that I felt when I touched Edward's chest in my garden when he held me captive.
No, it couldn't be. Could it?
I shook the memories and thoughts out of my mind before looking at Odina, who was staring at me expectantly.
"By chance, at the wedding reception you threw, for Dephine and the knight from the demon realm… We only passed one another and exchanged pleasantries but we felt a connection." I told her.
She nodded, "Fae, I can tell that there is something else happening here. I trust that it is personal and do not wish to be too invasive. But know that you can count on us, we're family now." She says before submerging herself into the spring.
I stare at the empty spot that she left behind as Esme sighs, "It'll be alright, Isabella. We will protect you." She whispers as Odina reappears.
We spend the rest of the day with Odina, looking over the history of their realm before heading back to Vespera.
Upon arrival, I was informed that Edward and his brothers had finally come back.
Esme smiled and led us into the dining room, where all four men happened to be sitting in.
The moment that we walked in, all four of them stood up.
"Boys, how nice of you to finally comeback." Esme greets them as she leads us past them.
Edward tried to step forward but she shook her head at him, "No, you do not get to leave without a word to your bride and come back expecting everything to be alright. I know I raised you better than that." She says pushing him back.
She motioned for me to sit in between Carlisle and her. Carlisle immediately gave Cas to me, handing me a blanket as Cas's hand wrapped around my neckline and pulled as he nuzzled my chest.
"Mother," Edward began but she shook her head at him, "There is no point in arguing. You wanted to leave, so you will stay away from her until you two are bound by marriage. Do you understand?" She asked him.
He sighed in defeat and nodded, before dropping into his seat.
I managed to ignore his stare through dinner before heading to bed, with Esme as my escort.
She locked her wing behind us, before walking us to the room.
Once I settled Cas into his bassinet and changed into my nightdress. I placed the protection spells in the room, and climbed into bed.
My mind still reeled at everything we had learned in the last two days.
I knew that they were going to have to explain, and I hoped that it was before we met with the elders of all the realms.
I knew that this was an impossibility, yet I still hoped.
Nothing was giving me the answers that I needed. I had always been told that they would. My parents had a lot of explaining to do.
My mother, who had always said that her family was a noble family of the Formenos was actually the youngest daughter of the Eliphas and Gwendolyn of Angmar, and who always hid within the confines of her room, needed to tell us what was going on.
I thought of so many things as I laid there unable to sleep.
I thought of Annette, and Garrett needed to know what was going on.
I thought of my father and how he always told me to be true to myself, no matter what, to never doubt myself. The one person who's always loved me for me has lied to me.
Why would she hide this? Why did she run? Why were my parents hiding all of this from us?
I didn't realize I had been crying until I felt a pair of pairs pull me into a tight, warm embrace.
"Little Fae? What's going on?" He asked.
I shook my head and pulled away. "You left me." I whimpered.
He sighed, a frown clear on his face, "I had to. Duty called. I tried to wake you to explain, but you were out cold. I couldn't very well stay here, especially after all that's happening." He says.
I shook my head, and wiped my face, "Leave." I said, angrily.
"What? No. I'm not going to leave you here by yourself in this state." He replies, stubbornly.
"You chose to do your duty instead of being with me, especially after we mated, so leave. I don't want to see you, I don't want you near me, and I need to be alone." I told him.
"Isabella, someone attacked a sector within the witches' realm. Your sister was there." He told me.
I blinked, "Is- Is she alright?" I asked.
He nodded, "Only a few injuries. I managed to get her, their bae, and her husband to safety. But there are things that are happening, in which I promised to protect and our son from." He replied.
I sighed, and nodded, moving away from his touch, as he tried to pull me back, despite wanting nothing more than to lay in his arms and cry myself out.
"What's going on, little fae?" He asks me.
I turned to stare at Cas's sleeping form, and gathering strength, "Your parents and I did a little research about my ancestry." I informed him.
He nodded, holding up a hand before waving his hand in the air.
A moment later the doors locked, and the thick shutters of the window slammed shut.
"Precaution." He whispers as Cas whimpered.
"Right." I replied as I reached down to touch his face, carefully.
"Now, what is it that you found, little fae? I could feel the hurt, and betrayal you felt as I was away." He told me.
I shook my head, "Hang on." I breathed, as I closed my eyes, scooting closer to him, before reaching over to touch the side of his face in concentration.
I felt him tense for a moment before he leaned down and pressed his forehead to mine.
Everything I learned about, he now knew.
His body tensed under my touch as I felt my energy begin to leave my body.
As I felt my body sag, his arms pulled my towards him, as I felt my head swim.
When I woke up again, he was still holding me in his arms.
"Are you alright?" He asked, as he pulled the blanket over us.
I groaned, as I felt my head begin to hurt, but otherwise remained silent.
He sighed, "Talk to me, little fae."
I pulled away, and moved to sit down, frowning when I saw the bassinet empty. "Where's Cas?" I asked.
He pointed to the floor, where Cas was now sitting surrounded by a few toys and bobbles. He no longer looks like the new born babe I carried a mere two weeks prior. The cherubic babe was now gone, and in his place was this adorable baby sitting by himself.
His features had changed to look a bit more like Edward. His hair remains to look like the color of autumn leaves. Eyes a deep sea green that mesmerized even me.
I felt my jaw drop, "What happened to my son?" I asked slowly.
He blinked, "Chapter three of the book I gave you. Dragon younglings only remain in the babe state for two weeks. He's shape and form will change until he reaches his age. Depending on the realm you're in." He informs me.
As I stared at Cas, he suddenly looked up at me, and smiled, "Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma." He suddenly spoke, leaving me breathless.
Edward smiled, "Yes, little buddy, that is your mother." He tells him.
"Why is the first year important?" I asked him, quietly.
Edward swallowed as he turned to look at me, "The first year determines what type of dragon he shall be. They range from earth, to fire, to water, to air." He informs me.
I hummed and nodded, "How long before it is determined?" I asked, trying to remember what I had read.
In chapter four, it said I had to expose him to all elements slowly, along with each realm. This could determine everything as well.
Chapter five said that his aging varies depending on which realm we reside in.
Chapter six stated that he would get protective of their mothers.
I remember that once the year is up, he won't finish developing until something triggers his first change.
"My son looks older. His clothes hardly fit him, and he is sitting by himself. When I clearly remember holding my son yesterday, and breastfeeding him before I went to bed." I replied, in disbelief.
"Our son is part dragon. Dragon's grow rapidly." He tells me.
I take a deep breath before nodding and sliding out of bed. I padded across the room, bent down, and picked up Cas in my arms.
His scent immediately informs me that he is indeed my son before I move to where Esme showed me that she placed his clothes.
I opt to change him into a pair of breathable pants, and a white dress shirt before sitting him down with his toys once more.
"Are you still angry with me?" He asked.
I nodded, "Of course, I am." I replied, as I moved to pull out yet another gown.
This time it was a dark navy blue gown. Much like the prior two, it had a wide skirt, and angel sleeves.
Esme had told me to keep the crown she had given me the day before but added that I could wear my crown if I wished.
I could feel his gaze as I moved to go into the bathroom to change.
As I moved to walk in Edward suddenly stood, and made his way to where I was.
"Why?" He asked.
"Why what?" I asked, as I looked at the dress.
"Why are you closing yourself from me? Why are you putting distance between us? Why can't I feel you through the bond?" He asked.
I turned to look up at him, "Because I am giving you what you asked for. You wanted time to wrap your head around what happened two nights ago. Well, this is me giving you all the time in the world. Do not come in here again without my permission, or you will get hurt." I promised before making my way into the bathrooom.
For the next few days, I managed to do an amazing job at avoiding him.
I managed to plan with Esme most of the wedding, somehow incorporating the traditions of both realms in the wedding.
We had everything done, except the I couldn't seem to decide on the design.
Esme and I looked through each and every design offered to us until I found the one I wanted.
Once decided, Esme and I got to work on it.
The following morning as I was finished pinning a few pieces of cloth on the mannequin Esme uses for her dresses, when we heard a soft knock come from the door of her sitting room.
She motioned for me to continue doing what I was doing as she got up to check and see who was at the door only to speak in a quiet tone to the person standing there.
When she walked back, the smile she had been wearing before she opened the door was now replaced by frown, as she handed me a letter.
"What is this?" I asked, quietly.
"Your parents sent this informing us that it is tradition for the groom to complete a quest before you two wed. If he fails to complete the quest, the marriage shall be null and void." She informs me.
I let out a slow, calming breath, before turning to face her, "Who was that at the door just now?" I asked.
Esme frowned, "A young lady your parents sent to help us with the wedding arrangements? Angela, I believe was her name." She informed me.
I nodded, "Figures, the one thing I expected them to forget is the only thing they remember." I grumble.
Esme gave me a strained smile as she extended her hand to pat my arm. "It'll be okay. Just- Just do whatever this is so we can have finish preparing for your upcoming nuptials and binding ceremony." She tells me.
I sighed, before turning away to look out the window, "It's not that simple…" I quietly said.
This is why I never wished to be married. I do not wish to enforce any traditions on my future mate, unfortunately it seems like my parents were going to, even if I told them I didn't.
"What? What's wrong?" Esme asked.
I shook my head, before letting out a long breath "The quest is not something I want. When we were all younger, we each got to pick the quests of our future partners, I chose a voyage to the fire lakes of Azariel." I informed her.
She nodded, "That doesn't seem too bad. The lakes are within this realm so he should be able to go and return within two days." She replied.
I shook my head, "He has to get a stone from the bottom of the lake, and go to Amethysta to forge firestone, that must be presented to me the morning of our wedding or everything is null and void." I replied.
Esme's jaw dropped as I finished speaking.
It took a moment for her to recover herself before sighing, "We need to speak to Carlisle and Edward, he needs to leave, at once." She tells me as she pulls me out of the room.
