DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, I do not own the rights to the Harry Potter or Naruto franchises. Nor do I own the rights to Hogwarts Mystery. Wish I did though.
A few days later, the gang planned to head down to Hagrid's to talk about what happened to Harry's broom. "You guys ready?" Harry asked the others. Before they could answer they heard yelling at the other end of the Great Hall. Malfoy and a few of his cronies were getting into who looked like Daphne Greengrass and a blonde boy who looked to be in his second year. "Get your hands off her, Malfoy," the boy said coldly, "Just because we were unfortunate enough to be in the same house as you doesn't mean we wish to be friendly with you. So, I say to you again, leave us alone," Malfoy scoffed and said, "Or what, Hadrian…" and he was punched in the face by Naruto, who came flying in, much to everyone's surprise. "You're really going to bully people from your own house, Malfoy?" he asked in disgust. Malfoy moved his hand from his face and replied, "You're going to pay, Uzumaki!" Josh quickly jumped in, trying to separate the two, when Professors McGonagall and Snape showed up. "And pray tell what is going on here?" McGonagall asked, looking stern. "Uzumaki and Sallow attacked me, Professors!" Malfoy yelled. "Liar!" yelled Josh, whose cry for defense was stifled by yelling from all sides coming to Naruto's defense on what happened. "Silence!" McGonagall roared, silencing everyone. "Well, I see what happened. Uzumaki, while I commend bravery on behalf of your fellow students, fighting, physical or magical, is against the rules. Five points will be taken from Gryffindor. Malfoy, I don't think I need to explain myself. Five points from Slytherin, and detention this afternoon with Mr. Filch. Are we clear, gentlemen?" "Crystal," Naruto replied, while Draco seethed in anger. Everything calmed down as Naruto took a walk outside with Hadrian and Daphne. Josh noticed this and said, "Let's wait. We can go later."
"Why?" Hadrian asked. "Why what?" Naruto asked back. "Why get involved?" Daphne elaborated, "We're in different houses. Houses that have been at odds with each other for years," "I'm not a fan of bullies," Naruto replied, "Growing up I was always mocked and ridiculed, even beaten back home for some random reason, I know that it hurts me when people get under my skin. So, I get pretty ticked off when it happens to someone else, regardless of the reason," As they continued to speak, they found a new respect for each other and the two Slytherins shook hands with Naruto as a token of friendship. They wished each other well and went their separate ways.
Naruto found the others at the library and told them what had happened. The others smiled at just how quickly Naruto was able to make friends with others given his childhood. Josh then closed the book he was reading on magical history and suggested they go to Hagrid's, as he wanted to get it over with before dark.
"Nonsense!" Hagrid yelled, "Why would Snape put a curse on Harry's broom?" "I don't know" Harry replied, "Why was he trying to get past the three-headed dog on Halloween?" Hagrid's eyes went wide, "Who told you about Fluffy?" "You're telling me that thing has a name?!" Josh responded in shock. "Of course, he has a name! He's mine." Hagrid replied, "I've had him for a while now. I gave it to Dumbledore so he could guard…" he paused. "Guard what?" Asked Naruto, "I shouldn't have said that," Hagrid continued, "No more questions. Don't ask me anything. Top secret," "Hagrid, Snape is trying to steal whatever the dog is guarding," Ron said, trying to reason with Hagrid. "Snape is a Hogwarts teacher, Ron," Hagrid replied. "Hogwarts teacher or not," Hermione replied, "I know a spell when I see one. You have to keep eye contact, and Snape wasn't blinking." Josh looked at Hermione and said, "You don't use your eyes, do you?" Before anyone could ask what he meant, he continued, "Snape wasn't the only one who kept his eyes on Harry. There was someone else as well," This shocked the others, "Who?" asked Hagrid, "Professor Quirrell," Josh replied. "That's rubbish! The man can't even get out a sentence without stuttering," yelled Ron. "I know what I saw. Quirrell and Snape both had their eyes locked on Harry. But something felt off with Quirrell. He looked calm. Too calm," the others looked rather uneasy at this news.
"Look," Josh continued, "I know how this sounds, but all I'm saying is, be careful with either of them. We don't know who did it or if either of them will make a second play," He ignored Hagrid's scathing look, "Just be careful, alright?"
They then changed the topic back to Halloween night where Hagrid let slip that what Fluffy was guarding was secret information privy only to Albus Dumbledore and a man named Nicolas Flamel. Josh's eyes shot open, "Nicolas Flamel? What does he have to do with this?" Hagrid began fuming, "Don't mention a word of this to anyone to hear me?! Now drop it. This will only put you in danger," The others wanted to protest, but the look Hagrid was given told them this was non-negotiable, and left it at that.
When they re-entered the common room, they were relieved to find it was quite empty as the other students were out exploring the grounds. This gave them plenty of space to speak freely. Hermione was the first to speak, "So you think Quirrell did it, Josh?" "I'm not sure," Josh replied, "Could have been anyone. That's why I said be careful around either of them, Harry." Harry nodded. "What do we do about this Flamel bloke?" Ron piped up. "Good point," Josh replied, "Although I could've sworn I've seen the name before," The rest of the afternoon until dinner was spent offering theories as to who Flamel was, and what the dog on the third floor was guarding.
As they finished dinner, came back to their dorm rooms, and climbed into bed, only three questions were on Josh's mind, 'Who would put a jinx on Harry's broom? Just what is that dog guarding? Also, that name, Flamel, I know that name from somewhere, but where?'
A/N: Sorry it took so long to get this out. Went through a bit of writer's block halfway through the chapter. I have my reasons for having Josh try to make the group suspect Quirrell. I want it to be that they are a little bit mistrusting of the professors at the school so that their taking matters into their own hands is more believable. Until next time, MoBi out!
