You try to tell me that I'm clever
Kagome's newest idea was her worst idea, at least to him. But his mother agreed even though it had never been done like this before. Once a male has narrowed down his choices, her house would come and visit, and the matter of combining houses would start, which included price for both parties. But the Inu's didn't pay; they were paid, not that they needed much. Not that he needed much. Even with their house smaller., it was still stronger.
He watched with burning eyes as Kagome settled onto a horse. His mother walked up to him. "If looks could kill, she would fall right off that beast,"
"She thinks she is clever,"
"She is,"
"In your opinion,"
"You are hovering too much, and she needs air."
He did not like the way that sounded.
"She also scared,"
"Of what?" He looked at his mother,
"Of you,"
He snorted. "She has never feared me,"
"She is being wise in this, cautious; it is why I agreed,"
He didnt understand,
"She is afraid of how she feels for you, stop kissing her," She snapped,
He looked away.
"It may not matter that she kissed you, but she is unmated, and your scent on her will leave little room for another male to make his move,"
"I thought it was I who was mating,"
"Not if you dont stop kissing your Miko,"
"Enough, Mother,"
It was two kisses, for crying out loud, and it was ammo, at least; that's what he kept telling himself.
"Perhaps we will return with one woman,"
He raised an eyebrow. "And if I do not agree?"
His mother crossed her arms and glared at him, "Perhaps we will also return with a husband for her,"
His silence on the matter made her raise an eyebrow, "Will you not see us off,"
He moved but did not reply. His mother followed, and he watched as the group started to make their way.
He looked up at Kagome; she smiled at him, but he did not smile at her.
"I'll be back." She said,
He said nothing,
"What, miss me already,"
He eyed the mark on her neck,
"Hello, death to my Lord," She waved her hand, and he grabbed it and yanked, making her bend over from her spot on the horse,
"Woman,"
"Well you know what they say," She laughed nervously "Abcense makes the heart grow fonder!"
He released her hand. "My mother is scheming, be aware,"
Kagome sat back up. "Of course she is; anything I should bring you back?"
He smirked, "Nothing you are willing to give me," He so needed to get laid.
Kagome blushed, maybe no late night meetings was a good thing. This was the reason she wanted to go. She felt drawn to him, wanted to be near him, waited with hope of his company, no matter how innocent at a midnight hour and she realized she wasnt doing him any favors in that.
"I'll bring you back a wife, I promise,"
"Hn," Was all he said.
Kagome kicked the horse, and he watched her ride away.
Of course, the day, for him, went slow, and midnight was met with boredom until his mother showed up instantly.
"She was welcomed, word of what happened has already started to spread, and she is being respected,"
"Hn," That was good.
"And how are we fairing without our fair human?"
"I am not a pup mother,"
She smiled, "Very well, I shall return to her Ladyship." With a snap of her finger, she was gone.
Two days later someone else came to visit but it wasn't Kagome, nor his mother, but another demon male. He bowed on now knee.
"Why have you come,"
"I am here to ask about courtship,"
Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow,
"To whom?"
The male looked up. "To the Lady Kagome,"
Oh, his mother thought she was clever, too, didnt she?
"I can give her a home and title and protect her, and I will offer my house to the West,"
"She has a home, a title, and it is I who protects her,"
The man stood. "I am confused; I thought you were courting two others, and her place here was temporary. Has this information changed,"
Damn it, no.
Sesshomaru looked away. "Wait here, I will return soon,"
With a whirl of wind, Sesshomaru was gone.
It the late silent night, under a bright moon Kagome gasped and sat up and her eyes landed on him "Sesshomaru!"
"Miko," He moved and sat and leaned. "Ask me why I am here?"
"Um, because you missed me?"
He did, but that wasn't why "My mother, in all her clever form, has sent a male requesting you,"
Kagome blushed but said nothing,
"You are aware of this,"
Her shoulder slumped. "I just agreed to get your mother off my back, and well, he isn't so bad,"
"So instead of sending me a wife, you send yourself a husband,"
"Hey, im working on the whole wife thing, mister!"
"Does one have time when one is flirting with another male,"
"Are you jealous!"
He had her lying back quickly. " Do you wish to court this man,"
She bit her lip. "It's not, it's not that-" She looked away, and he made her look at him, grabbing her jaw. He leaned down, and slowly, his mouth moved with hers. They inhaled each other, and she could not help but moan.
He broke the kiss, the sound of her breaking the fog in his head. "Return home, woman,"
He then vanished, and Kagomes groaned as heat pooled, but his sudden departure was like ice, and it left her in a wanting state.
"Fuck." She said in an unbecoming way. "Sesshomaru," She groaned. She left so they could focus, so they could cool down. Instead, it had the opposite effect.
It wasn't fair, none of it.
